Bradley: Ain’t no 40-year-old [Marquez] going to whip my a**

marquez545WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (30-0, 12 KO’s) figures that he’ll beat 40-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez (55-6-1, 40 KO’s) simply by being the younger guy on October 12th in their fight at the Thomas & Mack Center, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Bradley has not looked good in his last two fights against Manny Pacquiao and Ruslan Provodnikov. Bradley’s not really coming from a position of strength. He was given a gift decision over Pacquiao after spending much of the time running.

In Bradley’s last fight against Provodnikov, he was hurt multiple times and knocked down when he made the mistake of trying to punch with him. Bradley made a decent looking fighter look like a great one in that fight, and he should consider himself very lucky that he got the win.

‘Boxing is dead’ is a term I read, and heard, frequently in recent years. If any truth lay in that statement, 2013 proved to be boxing’s resuurection. Drama, brutality, courage and the art of boxing, 2013 provided every element, when combined, makes this the greatest sport in the world.

Bradley vs. Marquez on September 14th unless Mayweather fights on that date, says Arum

marquez44Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is holding September 14th for an HBO pay per view fight between WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (30-0, 12 KO’s) and Juan Manuel Marquez (55-6-1, 40 KO’s) unless Floyd Mayweather Jr. decides to fight on that date, in which case Arum will move the Bradley-Marquez fight to another day, according to Steve Kim.

The Bradley-Marquez fight will take place at the Thomas & Mack Center, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the fight isn’t nearly big enough to compete against a Mayweather fight. Arum has no other choice but to move off the September 14th date if Mayweather fights unless he wants to have low numbers for the Bradley-Marquez fight in terms of buys.
