WHITTIER, CALIFORNIA (October 19, 2013) – Tonight at the Pico Rivera Arena in Whittier California, Gary Shaw Productions in association with La Noria Entertainment presented a fun, exciting night of boxing.
In the 10-round main event, fan favorite Alejandro Luna (16-0, 12 KOs) won by way of TKO after his opponent Daniel Attah (28-17-1, 11 KOs)could not continue after round six. Luna switching back and forth from southpaw to orthodox used a vicious body attack to control the action. Attah never landed any hard punches that could keep Luna off of him as Alejandro applied pressure throughout the fight. AL: I’ve been training very hard for this fight. This fight is actually going to be right in my hometown. I’m very excited to put on a great show for all my family, friends, and all the fans in the area. This will the first time that I’ll be fighting locally right in my hometown. SANTA YNEZ, CA (June 14, 2013) -Photo by Mario Serrano – Tonight Gary Shaw Productions and the Chumash Resort Casino in Santa Ynez, Calif., put on another great night of boxing. The show titled “Central Coast Championship Night” had the fans in attendance on their feet with a plethora of action packed bouts.
In the main event, popular undefeated lightweight prospect Alejandro Luna and Sergio Rivera fought for the vacant “WBC Youth” interim and “Central Coast” lightweight titles.
Luna, for the first time in his career fought the entire fight from the southpaw stance. It proved to be a good strategy for Luna in the early rounds as he avoided punches from a distance. In the middle rounds both fighters were exchanging blows, going toe to toe for portions of those rounds. In the final round a hard right hook sent Rivera to the canvass. Rivera got up only to take more punishment before the referee stopped the bout at 1:53 of round eight. Alejandro Luna improves to (14-0, 10 KOs) while Sergio Rivera’s record goes to (14-12, 10 KOs). In addition to being a promising boxer, Alejandro Luna grew up as a “Charro” in a family of Mexican cowboys, who competed in “Charrería’s” around his local area. In this photo he’s competing at a national event. All his family members, his dad and uncles are all involved in the sport of rodeos, “Charreadas” in Spanish. His popularity is rapidly growing with each bout and rodeo event.

El Monte pugilists lead the Thompson Boxing Promotions fight card when southpaw welterweight Ricky Duenas and big hitting junior lightweight Alejandro Luna step into the boxing ring in separate competitions and are accompanied by Riverside’s punching machine Juan Reyes on October 19 at Ontario’s Doubletree Hotel.
Duenas (12-1, 6 KOs), has been racking up wins in crackling fashion but now he faces Canada’s Steve Claggett (14-1-1, 9 KOs) in the main event set for eight rounds in the welterweight division. A win by either fighter places them in the contender status. Continue reading
