The Arlans get Cuba in WSB Season IV Official Draw

Lausanne, Switzerland, 02 July 2013 – The World Series of Boxing (WSB) today held their Season IV Official Draw in Lausanne, Switzerland. Presided over by WSB Board Chairman Dr Ching-Kuo Wu, assisted by Mrs Irena Szewinska, IOC Member from Poland and Mr Reynaldo Gonzalez Lopez, IOC Member from Cuba, the draw has offered some pretty exciting matches. WSB announces Season IV Live Draw

Lausanne, Switzerland, 19 June 2013 – The World Series of Boxing (WSB) today announced that it will be holding its Season IV Live Draw in Lausanne on July 2nd 2013 at 15:00, local time. The draw is an important part of the WSB season with teams finding out who they will be facing in the group phases of the Regular season. Last year’s finalists, the Astana Arlans Kazakhstan and the Ukraine Otamans will be seeded so as not to draw each other. But that also means that one of them must instead face the new and as yet unranked Cuba Franchise in the Regular Season along with either the Mexico Guerreros or Season II winners Dolce & Gabbana Italia Thunder who as semi-finalists will not meet each other either. Tactical supremacy wins it for Kazakhstan against Ukraine (6-5)

Astana, Kazakhstan, 11 May 2013 – Astana Arlans Kazakhstan wins the third World Series of Boxing (WSB) Team Finals thanks to a superior tactical set up by coach Sergiy Korchynsky.

Although the Arlans went into the second day 3-2 up over the Ukraine Otamans, the latter managed to pull themselves back into the match. At one point the Ukraine team went ahead 5-4 as both teams’ fortunes swung back and forth. Indeed the visitors were only one round away from clinching the title when Heavyweight (91+kg) Rostyslav Arkhypenko came close to causing the upset of the season in his bout against Ruslan Myrsatayev. Nistor punches above his weight as Arlans take lead (3-2)

Astana, Kazakhstan, 10 May 2013 – The home side came away with a 3-2 advantage on Day One of the 2013 World Series of Boxing (WSB) Team Finals. The Fight of the Night performance was almost certainly provided by Astana Arlans Kazakhstan’s young boxer Mihai Nistor who almost caused an upset, pushing 2012 Olympic Champion Oleksandr Usyk the distance in the final bout of the night. Lomachenko comes in for Team Finals Day 1

After 72 matches and 360 bouts, the WSB Team Finals will be contested across two days starting on Friday 10th May at 20:00 local time (14:00 GMT). The remaining ten bouts – potentially eleven in case of a draw after the first night – will be the most exciting the boxing world has seen since the London 2012 Olympic Games Finals. Cuba to set WSB alight

Lausanne, Switzerland, 26 April 2013 – World Series of Boxing (WSB) is delighted to announce that Cuba has decided to join the competition as of its fourth season, due to start in November 2013. Set up by the Cuban Boxing Federation and fully supported by the National Sports Authorities, the new WSB Franchise will comprise the country’s 20 best boxers and main members of the National Pre-selection Squad, including Olympic, World and Pan-American Champions. Kazakhstan impresses once more to reach WSB Team Finals (5-0)

Lausanne, Switzerland, 20 April 2013 – Amazingly focused and strong throughout the entire night at the Almaty Towers Business Center, Astana Arlans Kazakhstan has had absolutely no worry against the Mexico Guerreros. Considered since the beginning of this World Series of Boxing (WSB) season as one of the favourites for the title, the Kazakhs have won eight of the ten bouts of this semi-final.
