(MASHANTUCKET, CONN.) – The athletes taking the ring for the 2014 Veterans Day Boxing Spectacular presented by Columbia Dental possess more than just athletic skill. The bout line-up on November 8 at Foxwoods Resort Casino will feature many of the United States’ brightest minds competing in honor of United States’ veterans. Top male boxers across the United States are dreaming of Olympic gold in Rio de Janeiro and the pathway to the podium is now set for USA Boxing’s elite men. The journey to the 2016 Olympic Games will begin at the 2015 WSB and World Championships Team Trial, December 1-5 in Chattanooga, Tenn. The national tournament will determine the 2015 World Series of Boxing squad and 2015 World Championships team, both of which will serve as international qualifying elements for 2016 Olympic Games men’s boxing competition. The Junior and Youth Titlists are Crowned at the 2014 National PAL Championships in Oxnard, California

The junior and youth competitors took center stage on Friday at the 2014 National PAL Boxing Championships in Oxnard, Calif., with 37 final round bouts in the younger age divisions. Boxers ranging in age from 11 to 18 competed in the two rings at the Oxnard PAL Gym with all of the winners claiming National PAL Championships. Continue reading

Forty-three Boxers Advance to the Final Round at the 2014 National PAL Championships in Oxnard, Calif.

(OXNARD, CALIF.) – Over 40 semifinal bouts were contested on Thursday at the 2014 National PAL Championships at the Oxnard PAL Gym in Oxnard, Calif. Action took place in the junior, youth and elite age divisions with all of the day’s winners advancing to final round competition.

Featherweight Andrea Medina (Bonita, Calif.) claimed the win in the lone junior bout of the day, defeating Lesly Soria (Los Angeles, Calif.) to advance to final round competition. In the youth men’s division, the two bantamweight finalists from the 2014 Junior and Youth Open advanced to the final round in the lightweight division. 2014 Youth Open champion Carlos Balderas (Santa Maria, Calif.) and silver medalist Hector Tanajara (San Antonio, Texas) will face off in rematch of their Reno contest on Friday in the PAL final round bout. Four United States Boxers Win Gold Medals at the 2014 Elite Women’s Continental Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico

(COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.) – Four American boxers earned the top spot on the medal stand with final round victories on Saturday at the 2014 Elite Women’s Continental Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico. 2012 Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields (Flint, Mich.) and 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Marlen Esparza (Houston, Texas) both added new hardware to their trophy cases with championship round wins at the Pan American Volleyball Complex. Returning welterweight champion Danyelle Wolf (San Diego, Calif.) defended her title and international newcomer Krystal Dixon (New Rochelle, N.Y.) claimed the heavyweight crown with final round wins. In addition to the four gold medals, bantamweight Christina Cruz (New York, N.Y.), featherweight Tiara Brown (Fort Myers, Fla.), and light welterweight Destiny Chearino (Warwick, R.I.) each won silver medals in the event. Six American Women Win Semifinal Bouts to Advance to the 2014 Elite Women Continental Championships Final Round

(COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.) – Team USA enjoyed a highly successful day of competition on Thursday at the 2014 Elite Women’s Continental Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico. Six U.S. boxers earned semifinal wins on the day to join light welterweight Destiny Chearino (Warwick, R.I.) in the championship round. Flyweight Marlen Esparza (Houston, Texas), bantamweight Christina Cruz (New York, N.Y.), featherweight Tiara Brown (Fort Myers, Fla.), welterweight Danyelle Wolf (San Diego, Calif.), middleweight Claressa Shields (Flint, Mich.), and heavyweight Krystal Dixon (New Rochelle, N.Y.) all emerged victorious in their semifinal match-ups. After two victories under belt in Mexico, lightweight Queen Underwood (Seattle, Wash.) dropped her semifinal contest and will take home a bronze medal. Continue reading

Queen Underwood and Danyelle Wolf Take Opening Day Victories at the Elite Women’s Continental Championships

(COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.) – Team USA’s elite women opened the 2014 Continental Championships with an undefeated day in Guadalajara on Tuesday. 2012 Olympian Queen Underwood (Seattle, Wash.) opened her run to gold with a victory over Panama’s Karol Hibbert and two-time national champion Danyelle Wolf (San Diego, Calif.) defeated Costa Rica’s Karla Rodriguez in their quarterfinal bout.
