Martz decisions Hamm

6’7 252 pound Daniel “The Mountain” Martz (9-1-1 6kos) of Clarksburg, West Virgina won a 6 round majority decision over former U.S. National Amateur Champion Jonathan Hamm (7-2 6kos) of Los Angeles on Friday night at Rockingham Park in Salem, New Hampshire. Scores were 59-55, 58-56 and 57-57. No knockdowns were recorded. After the fight, Hamm was hospitalized with a jaw injury.

Brian Minto set for Szpilka

Former WBO world title challenger Brian “The Beast” Minto (37-5) has completed training camp in the U.S. and is fully prepared for his heavyweight clash next week versus undefeated Artur Szpilka (14-0) in Poland. The fight will be 10 rounds for the WBC Baltic Heavyweight Title and will be held at Hala Luczniczka in Bydgoszcz, Poland on Saturday June 15. Continue reading

Tufte edges Martz for Titles

Joshua Tufte (12-0) captured the vacant NABA-US and USBO Heavyweights titles by a 10 round split decision over Daniel “The Mountain” Martz (7-1) at the Serbian American Cultural Center in Weirton, WV Saturday night. The 6’7 264 pound Martz landed the heavier shots, but Tufte’s effective counter punching earned him the close nod. Continue reading

Brian Minto Targets Smaller HW Contenders

Former WBO world title challenger Brian “The Beast” Minto (37-5) is looking for another busy year and has targeted several other smaller heavyweight contenders. After several fights in 2012 and coming from wins including the WBA NABA-US Heavyweight Title, Minto aims to land a fight with other former cruiserweight title challengers who are now competing in the heavyweight division.
