Former Two-time World Champion Andre Berto’s Shoulder Surgery is Successful

24(LOS ANGELES, CALIF.) – Andre Berto (Winter Haven, Fla.) underwent successful surgery with highly-respected physician, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, on Wednesday afternoon in Los Angeles to repair a ruptured subscapularis tendon in his right shoulder. Dr. ElAttrache declared the surgery a success following the three and a half hour operation, during which he discovered that Berto had completely torn the tendon from top to bottom.

During his post operative visit with Berto, he explained that the severity of the tear prevented him from being able to punch with any type of power with his right hand as well as fully lift his arm to protect himself from incoming punches. Berto is slated to begin rehabilitation in approximately six weeks and could resume boxing training in as soon as four months. Continue reading

Danny O’Connor headlining Sept. 12 Fight To Educate in Manchester, NH

MANCHESTER, N.H. (August 15, 2013) – Light welterweight prospect Danny “Bhoy” O’Connor (21-1, 7 KOs) returns to the ring Thursday night, September 12, to headline the 12th annual Fight To Educate (FTE) Pro-Am boxing event, at Verizon Wireless Center in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Fight To Educate, presented in part this year by Alrich Cabinet, is a unique charity event that combines a love of sports with the vision of assisting children and seniors in need, who with fundraisers like this could be ‘down for the count.’ During the past 11 years, Fight To Educate has raised more than $500,000 in donations benefitting local New Hampshire non-profit organizations. Daniel Jacobs to Host Fundraising Event for the Get in the Ring Foundation Ahead of Monday’s Main Event

Tua-Ustinov postponed until November 16th

DAVID Tua’s shot at redemption via the Hydr8 ZERO David vs Goliath blockbuster bout against Belarusian heavyweight Alexander Ustinov has been postponed until Saturday November 16.

It was thought that the fight – originally slated for Claudelands Arena on August 31 – would be put back to late September after the Tuamanator picked up a minor grade 1 calf muscle injury last week. Continue reading

Andre Berto to have shoulder surgery

(LOS ANGELES, CALIF.) – Former two-time Welterweight World Champion Andre Berto (Winter Haven, Fla.) will undergo surgery to repair a torn tendon in his right shoulder on Wednesday in Los Angeles. Berto suffered the painful and debilitating injury in the second round of his July 27th bout with Jesus Soto Karass at the At&T Center in San Antonio, and was forced to endure the majority of the fight with one arm. Wednesday’s surgery will repair the main supporting tendon of the rotator cuff in Berto’s right shoulder. Continue reading
