Barrera Confirms Attendance at Nevada Boxing HOF Gala at Caesars Palace

LAS VEGAS, NV (July 15, 2015) — Marco Antonio Barrera, a fierce competitor whose nickname of ‘The Baby Faced Assassin’ defined his fighting style, confirmed that he will attend the third Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame’s induction ceremony, Saturday, August 8, at Caesars Palace. Cuba, Canada and USA are top boxing countries in Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

27 July 2015, Toronto, Canada – Two spectacular closing days of action saw the final champions crowned in the boxing tournament of the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games on Friday and Saturday.

The highlight of the boxing tournament finals was Canada’s three-time AMBC American Women’s Continental Champion Mandy Bujold defeating AIBA Women’s World Champion Marlen Esparza in front of her home fans in a packed Oshawa Sports Center to win a gold medal in women’s 51 kg weight category on her birthday. Knockout set to eclipse competition with addition of Hollywood super agent

Knockout, the highly regarded television reality series starring Roy Jones Jr, Shane Mosley, Floyd Mayweather Sr, and John Scully, has already surpassed much of the competition in combat sports. Season 2 has played extremely well and has become a staple in the boxing community. With its star power, it has also been able to grab the attention of Hollywood super agent Andrew Ruf, who has put in motion an international deal that will put the series in several countries. Bill Richmond honoured

A permanent memorial to pioneering black boxer Bill Richmond (1763-1829) will be unveiled by Earl George Percy at the Tom Cribb pub, in Panton Street, London on Wednesday 26 August 2015 at 2pm.

A portrait of Richmond and a plaque summarizing his amazing life and career will adorn the wall of the historic pub owned by Shepherd Neame brewery in recognition of Richmond’s position in history as the first black sportsman to achieve international fame and significance. Continue reading

Beibut Shumenov schools BJ Flores

LAS VEGAS (July 25, 2015) – Beibut Shumenov (16-2, 10 KOs) defeated B.J. Flores (31-2-1, 20 KOs) by unanimous decision Saturday night to win a cruiserweight world title on Premier Boxing Champions on NBCSN from the Pearl at Palms Casino Resort.

Shumenov came out aggressive early before using his movement late to earn a world title in a second division and become the first fighter from Kazakhstan to achieve that feat. Flores was competitive throughout the fight, countering effectively when Shumenov showed aggression while landing more power punches. Continue reading

The WBA will utilize the Pod Index to review two title fights Saturday night.
