By Vladimir S: IBF Inter-Continental heavyweight champion Odlanier Solis (19-1, 12 KO’s) successfully defended his title on Friday night in defeating previously unbeaten Leif Larsen (17-1, 14 KO’s) by a 12 round unanimous decision at the Universal Hall in Berlin, Germany.
The action between the two fighters seemed to resemble more of a sparring session than an actual fight, as both guys looked slow and lazy from start to finish. Solis won the fight by the judges’ score of 116-112, 115-114, 117-111, but he looked unimpressive.
Larsen was just slow, and focused most of his shots upstairs to the head rather than to Solis’ soft looking body. Continue reading

LONDON (March 22, 2013) — Heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury will have a substantial height and weight advantage for his professional debut tonight at the Bell Centre, Montreal, Canada, live on WealthTV.
The 18-year-old prospect weighed 234.4 pounds at Thursday’s official weigh in, with his opponent David Whittom, 34, weighing in at 207.8 pounds.
There are certainly high hopes for Hughie, who, standing at six-feet and eight-inches, has a seven-inch height and 26.6 pounds weight advantage over Whittom.
But Hughie cannot afford to underestimate his opponent.
Whittom, 34, is a tough, come forward fighter, who has battled some of the top contenders and, in front of his home crowd, certainly poses a formidable test for a professional debutant.
With 11 wins, seven by knockout and one draw to his name, Whittom has built a reputation for his durability and, despite his 19 (KO 9) defeats, will be no pushover for the latest Fury fighter. Continue reading
