Andre Ward’s world title showdown added to stacked BoxNation calendar

LONDON (31 Oct) – BoxNation’s knockout November is set to pack even more of a punch with the channel adding super-middleweight supremo Andre Ward’s crunch world title clash with undefeated Edwin Rodriguez to its star studded lineup.

The encounter sees the world’s best 168-pounder, Ward, defend his WBA world super-middleweight title on November 16th in Ontario, California against the ferocious 28-year-old from the Dominican Republic, adding yet another mouth-watering matchup on the ‘Channel of Champions’.

Boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao’s ring return against the formidable Brandon Rios in Macao, China on November 23rd and Queensberry’s Copper Box extravaganza on November 30th, featuring heavyweight hitman Dereck Chisora and former world champion Nathan Cleverly, are the other main attractions in a jam-packed November schedule. The 48-year-old displayed his usual calm demeanour during the pre-fight press conference ahead of his IBF light-heavyweight world title clash at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City this weekend.

Hatton tips Carl Frampton for greatness after seeing himself in Irish star

LONDON (19 Oct) – British boxing’s most decorated fighter of the modern era, Ricky Hatton, has tipped rising star Carl Frampton for greatness after admitting he sees himself in the Irish ace.

The super-bantamweight faces off against Frenchman Jeremy Parodi this weekend in Belfast, in a fight which will see the victor get a shot at world title glory in their next bout.

Frampton’s star appeal was made even more apparent after the Ulsterman sold out Northern Ireland’s biggest indoor venue, the Odyssey Arena, with 8,500 tickets snapped up, in what will be only his 17th professional bout.

The two super-bantamweights will face off in front of a sold out 8,500 at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, as the winner looks to catapult themselves into pole position for a chance at the IBF world title, currently held by Spain’s Kiko Martinez.

The pair weighed-in on Friday afternoon with Parodi up first tipping the scales at 121 pounds, he was then followed by the Ulsterman who also easily made the 122lb limit as he weighed-in half a pound inside at 121.5 pounds. Continue reading
