Boxing This Friday in San Diego!

(San Diego) – Always on the forefront of San Diego boxing, California boxing hall of fame promoter Bobby D. Presents showcases the first fight of 2015 with a five-bout fight card full of some of the most exciting prospects southern California has to offer. The “Road to Redemption” fight card will be held at the now legendary San Diego venue, the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, in the San Diego suburb of Kearny Mesa. In the main event, undefeated big man Scott Alexander (9-0-1, 5KO) will look to stay unbeaten when he takes on his most experienced to date in Sacramento, CA’s Rodney Hernandez (6-2-1, 1KO) in a heavyweight six rounder. Leon “3rd Generation” Spinks III Headlines “Road to Redemption”

California boxing hall of fame promoter and the NABF female promoter of the year Bobby D. Presents led by its CEO Bobby DePhilippis has launched its opening salvo of the 2015 boxing season with “Road to Redemption” a seven-bout fight card headlined by the grandson of former heavyweight champion “Neon” Leon Spinks, lightweight Leon “3rd Generation” Spinks III (10-1-1, 6KO) in a six rounder against an opponent named. Spinks III is also the great-nephew of former champ Michael Spinks and the nephew of former undisputed super welterweight champion Cory Spinks The event will take place at the now classic San Diego boxing venue of the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in the suburb of Kearny Mesa. Also featured on the card will be a slew of local fighters in their first fight of the year. Continue reading

WBO Female Flyweight Champ Kenia Enriquez Needs Your Help!

Newly crowned WBO Female Flyweight Champion Kenia Enriquez, who captured her title last November in the last Bobby D. Presents card of 2014, wants to give back to the community that supported her for the first five years of her career while an amateur by organizing the first ever all-female amateur boxing tournament in her hometown of Tijuana, Mexico.

Enriquez fought over 70 times as an amateur in Tijuana sometimes fighting the same opponent 10-15 times since there wasn’t enough females participating in boxing. Enriquez went on to the Mexican Nationals bringing back a bronze medal in 2011. Continue reading

Historic Night for San Diego Boxing this Friday Night!

San Diego’s Bobby D. Presents in association with Zanfer Promotions of Tijuana are ready to present a historic night in “America’s Finest City” this Friday night at the new home for local professional boxing, the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Mission Valley. The main event will feature the first world title in San Diego in nearly ten years plus the first female world title fight in the city’s history when Tijuana’s Kenia Enriquez (12-0, 6KO) will face Ana “La Bronca” Arrazola (21-10-2, 13KO) of Mexico City for the vacant WBO flyweight title over ten rounds. It is hard to believe that undefeated San Diego featherweight Prince “Tiger” Smalls has only been seriously boxing for five years. Despite his father and now trainer Priest Smalls, a member of the California state boxing hall of fame, enjoying a fourteen year and thirty-five bout career, Smalls who fights in his first six rounder of his career against Tijuana tough guy Jose Iñiguez, didn’t seriously lace up the gloves until he was a teenager. The night of Friday, November 21st, will mark the eighth and final Bobby D. Presents fight card of the calendar 2014 year. In the main event, California boxing hall of fame promoter Bobby DePhilippis will bring the first world title fight to San Diego in nearly ten years and as the NABF female promoter of the year, the first female world title in San Diego boxing history. Undefeated Tijuana NABF light flyweight champion Kenia Enriquez (12-0, 6KO) will travel north four pounds to face the experienced Ana “La Bronca” Arrazola (20-10-2, 13KO) of Mexico City for the vacant WBO female flyweight title in a scheduled ten rounder. In the semi-main event, popular local featherweight Prince “Tiger” Smalls (5-0-1) comes back after a six month hiatus to face Tijuana tough guy Jose “Panterita” Iñiguez, a veteran of twenty-six professional fights. On Friday, November 21st, San Diego, CA, will be the host of a world title when Tijuana’s Kenia Enriquez (12-0, 6KO) faces the much more experienced Ana “La Bronca” Arrazola (20-10-2, 13KO) for the vacant WBO flyweight world title. The Enriquez vs Arrazola world title fight is scheduled for ten explosive rounds and will headline a jam-packed six bout fight card billed as “Dangerous Divas II”.
