Unfortunately, Solis is overweighted and his excess weight was probably the reason of collapsing his knee in the fight against Vitaly Klitchko.

Solis a once talented armature is now a fat slob and the guy he beat is even worse. Solis should be a cruiser weight.

Solis obviously can’t render an opinion as to how tough Vitaly is ; since he really didn’t last long enough in the fight to find out ! It actualy turned out well for him , that Vitaly closed the show so early , because some of the people that
lasted longer , never really did much ( or ANYTHING ) after Vitaly spend
more rounds with them then with him . As in ; Lewis , Sanders , Peter ,
Gomez , Briggs etc ., etc. None of these folks EVER questioned how
tough Vitaly is !

Eleanore the Hag

Bill Patrice Jones, glasses are in the mail. This guy is sloppy fat.

Bill – No he is not what I call fat …. but he could do with being leaner and more athletic (like he was in the amatuers)

Solis is a classic example of a great Cuban fighter moving to a more developed country and losing all that which made him great to begin with. He is just getting by on natiral talent but had he kept his drive and hunger; he could of been a real force in the division.

You can’t be a fighter who is proven to last 12 rounds and win unanimous decisions if you are ‘out of shape’ or do not have stamina. Solis never looks FAT to me. He always looks quite solid and powerful even when in the 255plus range. He clearly knows the difference though because he was in much better shape for Vitali. I don’t care what anyone says about Solis, if he did end up fighting someone like Fury for an alphabet title and got back into the 240s he would give him fits. There’s no way on earth you can be so casual and seemingly relaxed in the ring and not get hit with big punches unless you’re seriously skilled.

Solis beat Haye in the amateurs, he aint done nothing since, he is only known for that, well done though.

Is that Yogi Bear???

The announcers were too hard on Larsen and therefore Solis. Larsen is a good athlete, he was an NFL pro, and though he doesn’t have much boxing experience compared to Solis, saying “Solis should have him out in 3” is ludicrous. Larsen’s chin hadn’t been tested, so how do they know he should be KOed? When Larry Holmes fought Tex Cobb, should he have KOed him in 3 rounds? Of course not. Larsen may have a Tex Cobb chin, he might be one of those guys that nobody knocks out even if he isn’t great. But going 12 with Solis shows he’s pretty good based on the other guys Solis has KOed early.

Oener again has logorrhea. Solis should fire this wannabe uncontrolled clown. Ony I fear he owes Oener too much. Solis footwork looked plodding. Larsen is a durable punching bag. Elite fighter? Oener stop smoking that stuff.

horst fraze

i guess the knee has healed, time to challenge vitali ?

And certain biased or hating people keep saying that Solis WOULD had beaten Vitaly Klitschko if he wasn’t KOd (eish, I mean knee-split) in 1st round. Jeebus, he’d be brutally toyed with by Vit for about 3-4 RDs and KOd by accumulation of punches after seeing Solis in MUCH better shape in Larsen fight. Unless Solis tells ├ľner to GTFO and goes back to Cuba to live spartian cuban boxer’s life, I don’t see him ever making into top 5 of HW ratings. I wish I’m proven wrong since Solis does have an excellent ring IQ that he never lives up to its potential by keeping in shape and keeping himself naturally hungry (NOT for TACO BELL – for the HW title of the World FFS!).

I watched this on Eurosport, Solis was jsut awful. Good start then he was in a lot of trouble against an out of shape limited foghter. If Silis got into shape he could be dangerous but as he is his conditioning is just swful.

Slob Spotter

Solis trains with Tua and Arreoal at the buffet table. Fat Dan Ratfael also sits with them from time to time.

He looked so tall and thin in the prefight pictures. I’ve heard of fat suits–do they make thin suits? Was he wearing one before the fight?

Sad thing is he’ll probably be in line for a Klit–rather see him fight Povo.

I watch this match live on Eurosport last night.
Like the article says Solis started pretty well……..but then kinda went to sleep for a large part of the fight and allowed Larsen to get some good shots off.
The fight was a bit of a snooze fest though as neither fighter threw that many decent punches. In fact the most “exciting” part of the fight was when the ring announcer declared the tenth round as the final round of the fight even though it was scheduled for 12 rounds, causing confusion amongst the Eurosport commentators…….and as the 10th round finished Solis went over to shake Larsens gloves…….both team Larsen just seemed confused shouting to the referee that it should be a 12 round fight…….after a pause the German speaking ring announcer apologized and declared that he made a mistake……it was indeed a 12 round fight…… the fight went on for another 2 rounds……..even though Solis thought he fought the final round already!
