It’s Me, Ernie

His actual arms could be a few inches longer but the torso could be narrower…

lionking …you are right, i actually thought Trout was bigger but he only has an inch reach advantage which is really only 1/2 ” when you measure it that way….as far as arm length i don’t know…we’ll have to see what happens

Johnny Fast

Trout has NO chance.

Hey Golden Boy Productions, talk your boy out of this fight or he is going to get a serious boxing lesson. Well at least he is finally stepping up to a real opponent. Take it to him Austin and bring another belt back to Las Cruces, N.M.

What do u mean at last? Canelo is only 22, he might get ruined like a young Vargas

Posted February 19, 2013 2:26 am

Truth Hurts

Oh so now Ortiz, Baldomir, Mitchell, Bruseles and Corley were all hall of famers and world champions? How much does Team Mayweather pay you to write these tall tales on ESB? Take Floydie’s nutsack out your big mouth so you can speak up for a minute, Happyboy.

Good step-up for Alvarez, this will be a true test for him.

Ditto on your last post, Anonymous. Nice to hear I’m not the only one who sees it that way. Sure Rosado was stepping-up 6 lbs and had a few losses, but he’s a strong, tall, rangy fighter with some good skills. I actually gained huge respect for Rosado when he stepped up to fight Triple G. Gabriel is a warrior who comes to fight, and like a throwback fighter… isn’t overly afraid to takh e a loss. The thing I really like about this Canelo vs. Trout match-up is that they’re almost identical in size and reach. Botundefeated, both largely untested, and someone’s O has got to go!

I can’t say if Trout is good or not, and I believe that is the problem. Canelo will face, yet again, a virtually unknown, untested fighter whose only relevant victory was against a diminishing ex-champion Miguel Cotto. At least this time Trout is a true light middleweight contender (unlike Josesito Lopez), and someone with a perfect record, who is not coming from a loss (unlike Mosley), who seems naturally bigger, and is far more elusive than some of Canelo’s former rivals (Baldomir, Cintron, etc.). It might be complicated for Saul, but due to these guys completely divergent boxing styles, and think it will make up for a very boring bout.

Posted February 18, 2013 5:45 pm

Real talk

Trout is not that good Cotto was faded and if had power and was younger it would be different! Trust Red-monster is going to kill him! Trout skills are not great! It’s funny he beat a washed up Cotto and a natural 140 dude and everyone is hyped about the smoke screens

as for the post on Triple G….so far he’s proven himself a worthy champ, not his fault he’s not getting better comp….Rosado although moving up from jmwt was still a tall, strong fighter…..hard to prove yourself if no one wants to fight…..

Both are facing the stiffest competition of their careers, it’s now a matter of who wants it more or who really is the better fighter, Trout the tall , rangy boxer or Canelo the shorter, quick handed fighter…..

The El Paso Fight Prophet: That’s not what I consider a quality argument. Cleary you’re uninformed and not at all familiar with Triple G’s pedigree. He’s already beaten Bute, Lee, Dirrell and Proksa. Gaele was stripped of his WBA title because he refused to fight GGG. Sturm has outright ducked him along with several other top fighters. Golovkin is the current WBA and IBO Middleweight Champion. With an 88% KO percentage, he holds the highest KO ratio in middleweight championship history; he has NEVER been knocked down or stopped in 375 fights (pro and amateur). Now since you’re convinced Triple G is a “great hype,” please tell us who’s going to expose him? Quillin, Murray, Macklin, Pirog? Chavez, Jr.? LOL! C’mon man! Don’t mistake me for a “fly-by fan” just because I’m able to recognize rare, natural talent when I see it. IMO, Martinez is the only MW who has a legitimate chance against GGG. Which raises the all important question: Does Maravilla, at 38, still have the drive and balls to give the other MW champion a shot? Anyone? I’m a big Sergio fan, but I’m starting to have doubts.

At last a competitive match up for Canelo. Stylistically it makes sense to fight a guy like Trout if you plan on fighting Jr. If Canelo loses then it is as it should be. You can’t feed a guy stiffs for too long. Trout has to know if this is a close fight he isn’t getting the benefit of the doubt on the cards. Either way this is a good match up. People are going to gripe about Jr. regardless. Guererro is a good welter match up considering everything that has happened in the last year. I wouldn’t want to see a Jr/Marquez rematch especially now that Marquez looks even slower. Bradley is probably the next best welter match up for Jr. behind Guererro. But stylistically that could be a snoozer.

Canelo is the future @ 54. Trout, well have to go back to the drawing board after his beating…

Trout is going to make Canel look ORDINARY. This is a big mistake to match him up against Trout. Trout isn’t an exciting fighter to watch but he’s also much better than they think he is. Trout is the most fundamental and most technical fighter I’ve seen in a very long time. Expect a KO in the 9th round Canelo will never be the same.

“This fight matchup is a joke. In my opinion if they want a real boxing fight looking for the best it should be Canelo/Floydie, Guerrero/Trout. Winner will fight the winner.” That makes sense to me, Chicago Guy. Thing is Mayweather works WITH GBP, not against them like Arum does. This means if GBP says, “hey Floyd, we don’t want you to fight Canelo yet” Floyd won’t. But any fool should know that a Cinco de Mayo Mayweather/Alvarez fight would be a total record-setting blockbuster in revenues as well as draw. Le’ts wait until Canelo dispatches Trout,, then we’ll see what happens.

“Everyone knows this is the real fight on May 5th. Mayweather v Guerrero should be on the undercard.” You’re right. Watching the Mayweather v Guerrero fight will be like watching a movie someone already told you the ending to. But the biggest rip off is that Mayweather will again make multimillions for a fight that most everyone already knows the outcome of: Guerrero will lose! FMJ is one of the best hucksters in American history.

The El Paso Fight Prophet

I care to differ with you phony bologna fight fan. I believe Canelo will be more than anything trout has ever faced and in the Championship Rounds Trout Will have to swim for safety leaving Canelo looking like the Dangerous Stalker. Canelo Takes This and you can kiss my ass later.

Your exactly the kind of nutthugger that keeps Floyd paid and able to Mock the sport of Boxing.

ROSADO was coming up in weight from 154 and has already lost before. Why the Great Hype for an untested fighter. Wait till his time comes and see but I bet you will be a fly by fan once you see ggg get exposed.

Floyd’s legs looked kind of shot to me in his fight vs. the badly faded Cotto. his time on top is running out!

I wouldn’t say Alvarez is untested, but he certainly hasn’t been put in with the best in his division. Both Trout and Alvarez haven’t exactly shown their world beaters. Putting them against each other is a good match up.

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

Triple G and his trainer Abel Sanchez have called out and formally challenged all the top fighters from 154lbs to 168lbs, including Canelo, Mayweather, Maravilla and Chavez Jr. It’s not just hyped-up B.S. when you hear boxing analysts and serious fans talking about how everyone is ducking GGG. This guy has a complete, well-rounded arsenal; throws fluid 4-5 punch combinations from all angles; has serious power in both hands; and applies relentless, intelligent pressure on his opponents until they break. If he doesn’t KO his opponent, he’ll tear their face to shreds like he did to Rosado. The only weakness I see in his technique is limited lateral and head movement, but am not sure how much that matters considering the raw strength of his offensive attack. Money can claim there are no legitimate challengers, but if he wants to call himself Jr. Middle Weight Champion he better be wiiling to defend the title against the scariest up-and-comer in the sport. But PBF the cherrypicking master would NEVER risk losing his precious 0 and that’s precisely why he’ll never even consider fighting Golovkin. Maravilla is now 38 and in the twilight of his career. Whether or not he’s willing to give GGG a shot at the title remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain: Triple G is the future undisputed Middle Weight Champion of the world. Now let’s hear some quality counter arguments. Anyone???

This fight matchup is a joke. In my opinion if they want a real boxing fight looking for the best it should be Canelo/Floydie, Guerrero/Trout. Winner will fight the winner.

I don’t think there will b a Mayweather vs Canelo. After Floyd brushes aside the latest no. 1 contender 4 his belt he should move up and take on Martinez. Floyd vs manny will never happen. No need 4 Floyd Marquez there last so called fight was a shut out. Alvarez has his hands more than full vs Trout. If The Ginger kid wants Money Mayweather. No doubt he should keep fighting cream puffs In cement boots like the rest of his career…..get it. No doubt ha ha ha Alvarez best move better than he did against grandpa mosley

SHOULD BE A GREAT MATCH UP canelo is hugely untested anyone decent he has fought has been PAST IT and or a welterweight or smaller so theres a huge ? mark hanging over his head TROUT on the other hand has fought his entire career at 154
and is BATTLE TESTED at that weight canelo hits harder ..maybe? though SKILLS PAY THE BILLS i can see TROUT being to much for canelo in most rounds TROUT by way of clear cut UD …………..

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

Canelo vs. Trout is going to be a balls-to-the-walls true to life battle! I see a very close match-up, but predict young Alvarez will rise to the occaision and ultimately use his power to outgun Austin and win by late stoppage or decision. Mayweather vs. Guerrero should indeed be on the undercard, but has the potential to turn into an exciting fight — as long as the ref allows the Ghost to apply consistent, “telephone booth” pressure without constantly breaking ‘em up to allow Money room to breath and control the distance. I expect Mayweather to win as he is the bigger, faster technician, but make no mistake: Guerrero will come for a WAR on Cinco de Mayo and will relentlessly attempt to cut off the ring, walk him down and try to walk through his shots. Boxing is in desparate need of more cards like this one and the promoters really need to figure out a way to start putting them together more than once or twice a year. The UFC stacks cards all year round like it’s nothing.
