kenny…i have questions….why did holyfield spend so much at balco if he wasnt on peds…and had you heard of balco when you were with him? and i have been around sports med for years and have never seen any human being put on 40 pounds of muscle in 3 years without peds…never…i suppose thats not really a question. in the pre peds day of body building they reached their prime in their late thirties and early forties because the most they could gain–and this was for guys blessed with the right make up physically, about 3-5 pounds of muscle a year. how could holyfield still be that muscular…? you lose around 5 percent of your hormones a year after 35… do the math…holy should look like holmes did, or foreman, when they fought on…and did you approve of holyfields head butting, low blows, elbows, or did you just see this as a competitive edge? and, no, i dont think benton, or you, would allow that stuff, but it can be done in secret….and i cant see a way around that he was a user….by the way, nothing but respect kenny, and you are rightfully loyal to holy…im just not so sure its deserved.

what old man did vladimir fight…..? rahman was 36, vladimirs age now. chagaev was ranked 2 by ring magazine. haye was ranked 2 by ring magazine. chambers was ranked 2 by ring magazine. (they were all young, and vitali was ranked 1 by ring). peter was 32 years old. vlad’s last fight was a manditory, against a guy ranked in the top 10. vladimir was scheduled to fight haye earlier, he was ranked 2 in the world then, and backed out. vlad was supposed to fight povetkin, who was ranked 2 in the world, he backed out. he has fought one fight he shouldnt have taken, against a blown up cruiserweight, but then the top 10 is ducking him, as well as each other, so should he still idle? for instance, david haye has fought 2 men ranked in the top 10 of ring since he became a heavyweight. in that same span of time, vladimir fought 6 ranked fighters. no one else, except eddie chambers, with 3, came close….

there is absolutely no way that holyfield didnt abuse peds. the fact alone that he went from 175 to 215, all solid muscle, in a few years, makes it certain. but you add that to the fact he was one of balco’s best customers, its a lock he used. you dont spend thousands a month at balco on vitamins. add to that he was one of the dirtiest fighters to ever lace on gloves, it is hard to figure out why he wore the white hat when he fought tyson. exciting to watch, yes, but then peds give you resiliance, strength and stamina….which is why he was so well liked. and, at 50 years old he still looks the same…but then peds can do that for you….it can even mprove your reflexes, but not enough for him to ever win a title again.

…Evander accomplished a heckuva lot in the ring, while we tend to focus on his latter ring years that seemed desperate to regain fame, recognition, and money. Surely, Evander wanted to recoup $$$ he spent thru the years of big money fights, yet, do not forget what he did for boxing. He made both money for himself and for the larger boxing marketplace. Always in fantastic physical/mental shape, Evander is a future hall-of-famer and one tremendous competitor and, Oh! yes, a nice guy…

Nobody wants Toney vs Holyfield again. Nobody will be able to understand what either is saying on “face-off.” The other day Toney was talking on the phone and was trying to clear his throat, “HAAAARRRUUUUPHHEEETOOOEEEE…HAAAAARRRUUPHHHEEETOOOOOOO The guy listening wasn’t sure he got it but said, “Okay.. That will be 2 large pepperoni and sausage pizzas and a side of spaghetti and meatballs.” Toney replies, “aaay.. goodnuff.”

Please Kenny tell us who is this guy and the reason why he spreads so many lien in websites.
The Klitschkos ducked Holyfield and Lewis. Everyone knows that.

Posted August 28, 2012 2:44 pm

Why Kenny? Bowe destroyed Holyfield twice. Did you like it?

Posted August 28, 2012 10:59 am

A shame that you forgot to apply that rule to Tyson.

Posted August 28, 2012 10:56 am

The Klitchkos fight old men and shot fighters all the time. Class or no class, they have no problem feeding on guys in Holyfields position even if they say otherwise.

Evander Holyfield should be wise and consider fighting other opponents on a level near his own or lower then fighting the young top challangers of todays era. Even if a younger Evander Holyfield would in my oppinion beat almost all heavyweights of today’s era, he is old now and can’t beat most of them due to natural aging and have to acceptthat. Can’t beat any of them = NO interesting fights to watch for any one. Holyfield should aim for fighting veterans near hius own era or age like Oliver McCall, Shannon Briggs or a re-match with James Toney (This time Holyfield would win) or low risk opponets like simple journymen or tomato can level opponents. Would not be much to brag about but it would be fine victories for Holyfield for his record and with his legendary name in boxing and sports he would still sell and earn good money and minimal injury/damage risks for him. Holyfield was great in the ring and one of the very best in his past but that was then and now he can’t put on a thret to the top ones and that makes the fights against them uninteresting for any one to watch plus beating an old man and legend would only hurt the young mans career and character so it will not happen and should not happen. I wish Evander Holyfield all luck in his quest. I belive he would be an exellent boxing trainer for young promising tallents in a good boxing stable.

Who has Holy beaten to deserve a title shot? Brian Nielsen? Bad idea to put charity into the HW crown and that is the only reason Holy could get a shot. Put Holy up against Boytsov, Pulev, Haye, Fury or another contender – if he wins he could claim to be next in line for a run against a K2.

Posted August 28, 2012 10:12 am

The fight is placed where to money are – simple as that. All K2 fights are brodcasted in Ukraine so Germany or Russia will make no difference for the number of viewers in Ukraine.

Srminimo-You’ve hit the nail on the head. Phenomenal warrior but could’ve done without the Holier-than-thou B.S.

Holyfield at CW is far more impressive than Toney whos only decent win at the weight was over an overated Jirov, Holyfield beat Qwai twice and other top fighters at the weight. I would argue that David Haye has a more impressive CW resume than Toney. As for the other fighters they are HW’s regardless as the CW division didn’t exist.

Neil-my view on the Charr fight: shortly before the elections Vitali needs someone to look good against. For me it’s no coincidence the fight is in Moscow, probably this will allow more people in Ukrain to follow the event. I doubt whether Charr is even allowed to win this one

Posted August 28, 2012 7:39 am

I dont get this. Sure Holyfield is past it …. but less “past it” than Shannon Briggs was and Holyfield would still be a better opponent than Charr will make.

Posted August 28, 2012 6:40 am

Ohhh yeah! They could do it in cage as a main event after Bowe vs. Golota.

Posted August 28, 2012 6:02 am

Holyfield a true of the guys you think of when you think of boxing.

Posted August 28, 2012 4:40 am

Great cruiser, as a HW, a bit less. 2 losses out of 3 against Bowe, 2 losses against Lewis really, his only great achievement was against Tyson. But Bowe and Tyson would have beaten that version of Tyson as well IMO. His Mercer fight was also good.

Posted August 28, 2012 2:39 am

his fights with Big Daddy Bowe were my favourite heavyweight fights of all time, great.

It was graet when he bashed up Tyson the bum basher.

Evander baby woooes

Evander is a great baby kid maker. Lots of woman out there that had Evander’s babys. Evander also beat Mike Tyson by head butting him to death. Evander bought the head butt book for none other than Bernard ” head butt king ” Hopkins. Tarky baby said Evander can be a casino greeter. I would tip him. I enjoyed his fights.

the voice of reason

Reading the comments on here my heart sinks at the disrespect you people show toward this most greatest of fighters and champions. Perhaps i shouldnt expect more from this site that never stops lowering my faith in human beings with the poison i see written on here all teh time. I suggest any of you who havent got anything respectful to say about holyfield should go back to the porn sites where you belong and start staying away from this boxing page. Boxing, which is after all, a sport for MEN. Know what i mean?

Holyfield should have got out after he beat Tyson. It would have been the perfect time as his focus was all about beating Mike. After Mike nothing he did would have been able to top that accomplishment. Had he beaten Lewis and unifed he probably would have retired as he was sooo obsessed with having all of the belts. But he hung around too long and even if he got a title shot now there is no way he would win.

Posted August 27, 2012 10:28 pm

I’m a big fan of Wlad, but there is NO question in my mind that the Holyfield who beat Tyson would KO any version of Wlad. A well past his prime Holy took the best shots Lewis could give him and kept coming forward. Wlad would wilt under the pressure.

Wlad is very good. Holy is one of the best of all time. He would not lose to a guy who responds to every punch thrown at him by retreating. It works for Wlad, and he gets the wins against current competition, but Holy was a different animal altogether.

Will all due respect, Mr. Weldon, but Evander contributed a bit himself. As great and brave a fighter as he was (one of my all time favorites), he also put himself out there for scrutiny by claiming he was guided by religion and faith while living a life of grandeur, being unfaithful to his wife, bending rules inside the ring, and cheating by using PEDs. Had he not presented himself in such a way, perhaps a lot of people had not felt the disappointment they have.

Posted August 27, 2012 9:27 pm

And just where would Holyfield have gotten without PEDS?

Posted August 27, 2012 9:06 pm

KnucKled Eye

You hoestly think that any of those cruiser weights you mentioned could have just walked through a prime Holyfield? You think Holyfield would have lost to all those guys you named? I highly doubt it.

Posted August 27, 2012 9:05 pm

Evander Holyfield, class guy that he is, could never claim the title of best cruiserweight. Not with his nemesis James Toney lurking in the background. Actually the early history of the heavyweight division had lots of guys like Fitzsimmons, Dempsey, Tunney, Patterson all weighing in the 190-195 lb range. They were really the greatest cruiserweights; heck, they were beating heavyweights!

A fine boxer , a great competitor ; Holyfield however, is an unfortunate example of how having the ability and opportunity to make many millioins of dollars , a fighter can wind up facing a
very challenging future in his upcoming
” golden years ” . It is sad and unfortunate , but somehow I cannot be too sympathetic . It’s not like he did not have previous fighters who went broke ,
to use as an example . As for fighting a Klitchko , please , I don’t care what kind
of prime Holly you pit against which Klitchko , the result would be disastrous for Holly . I know ,
there is a lot of sentimentality here as
well as wishfull thinking , but reality is reality . The Klitchkos once more prove
they are a class act , by refusing to fight a once great fighter at he twilight
of his career . His ATG status notwithstanding . Aside from the fact that they truly respect him as a boxer , they are also seriously concerned about his health . Let bottomfeeders ala
the coward Povetkin , who was talking about fighting Holly not too long ago ,
try to boost his resume at Holly’s expense , but the Klitchkos will not
tarnish the old warrior’s exit !

Evander Holyfield is a man I always liked but he should have retired 10 years ago in 2002 after he lost to John Ruiz. Then he embarrassed himself with James Toney, getting knocked out with a body shot! That should have been evidence enough, but Evander continued, losing a shutout decision to Larry Donald. Around this time, the newspapers reported that Holyfield’s mansion in Atlanta went into foreclosure. Evander should be satisfied enough that he won the grandest prize in all sports and also knocked out Mike Tyson.

Casino greeter pays much better than flipping hambergers.. And Ev won’t be messing up everybody’s orders.. Even though 2 thou a week won’t pay for all his ex-wives, support for all his children, and his back taxes.. It’s like Joe Louis said when the IRS demanded his back taxes, “Can’t do it man.. You can’t get 9 gallons of water out of a snowflake.”

Will Evander now work at Burger King for needed cash ??

Posted August 27, 2012 4:36 pm

Evander should bad mouth vitali call him everything to get him to fight as this fight would make holyfield a lot of needed cash

Posted August 27, 2012 3:36 pm

Evander would destroy klitchko

Posted August 27, 2012 3:29 pm

You know I like Evander but to say he still has his health, listen to his speech, you call him a smart guy? The dude made like $500 million dollars in his life is still fighting at 49 and is broke, how smart is he ? Or what is your definition of smart?

Posted August 27, 2012 3:04 pm

I love Evander to death, but I do wish that he would hang them up. He has accomplished all that he is going to do in the sport. That fight with Valuev I think he won, but that being said Valuev had a tremendous amount of respect for him and was probably holding off a bit. I know he needs the money, but there has to be other ways..

Posted August 27, 2012 2:51 pm

thats not true at all….vasquez quit in his first fight against marquez because of a busted up nose and look what he did in the next two fights against him. quitting doesn’t automatically = a finished career

boxing barlow

Holyfield was a top heavy. But I think this writer is getting slightly carried away.

Posted August 27, 2012 2:26 pm

Any version of Holy would never beat a prime Klit. Great fighter but all wrong for him to fight a K2 in the way that could not hurt either K2 with his lag of power.

Posted August 27, 2012 2:03 pm

I like to give the old guys the benefit of the doubt especially considering Foreman’s accomplishments. But Holydeal QUiT in his last fight against The Tank. If you find yourself quitting in fights you should know it is time to retire.
