Keith Thurman reminds me of Canelo Alvarez. Both are very good fighters. Though for as good as they both are there’s just something about them that leaves me thinking they are missing some “ingredient.” I say this because I’ve seen both show some odd vulnerabilities — Alvarez when he got whacked by Cintron and Thurman in a few moments with Quintana. Perhaps it’s because both are still young and developing as fighters, or they’re missing that final “ingredient” that makes a very good fighter a great fighter. I guess time will tell…

I could see this guy being someone that alot of fighters avoid. The cons far outweigh the pros, plus possibly gettin knocked out in the process, I doubt theres very many popular fighters that would jump at this one. They will have to go with another prospect I bet thats tryin to make a name for himself as well.

Can anyone think of any possibilities of decent opponents that dont have a fight scheduled already in the near future?

Fight Aficionado

Thurman’s a big puncher so I’m glad HBO keeps putting him on. People want to see destruction. He brings it.

Edgar Guevara

Thurman is a badass, we have to wait and see how far he can go.\

Thurman got a good win over a guy like Quintana who has been in with multiple World Class opponents and he is not an OLD man….Thurman should NOT be fighting elite competition as of yet that has how you ruin and up and comer, they usually need to build towards the next level…Thurman is not that much different that Golovkin both guys seem to be damaging punchers who are out to hurt you neither has shown unusual skill…Its always a wait and see scenario but Thurman has looked good thus far

KOrnerman-GGG just fought one 154 pounder and now I’m suggesting one who is MUCH more dangerous…Thurman just scored an impressive knockout on HBO. He’s more known than Rosado.

Quintana beat Paul Williams than Paul Williams knocked him out the very next fight which was a rematch

Posted January 24, 2013 12:38 pm

Clearly you didnt read the part where i said REMATCH he got knocked out in the rematch

Posted January 24, 2013 12:36 pm

SO, How do you lose a split decision UD, IN 12 then KO that same guy in 2:15 of round 1 ?

Posted January 24, 2013 12:02 pm

Paul Williams was the WBO world champion when Quintana beat himi…therefore technically he was a former world champion…granted he got knocked out in the first round in the rematch but nonetheless he was a former world champion

Are you the real Boxtra?

Posted January 24, 2013 9:59 am

Carlos Qunitana won a title eliminator in 2006 over Joel Julio and defended it once against c-class competition and that was that. He went down hill from there. NOW , hes a FORMER WORLD CHAMPION because they need to justify a BODY for Thurman to pound around on TV and look good. Then we all believe Thurman is that good. NOW, I like the kid, he DOES LOOK good , but that is against Carlos Quintana, surely not an elite fighter. How’s about Iraslandy Lara ? Before Mayweather or Alverez. No ?

Posted January 24, 2013 8:12 am

Boxtra why you wanni see GGG at 154 when he’s happily stamping a path at 160. there’s no way he will drop to fight a relative unknown opponent at 154 imo, Mayweather maybe but Thurman I cant see bro.

147? aint Thurman is a 154 fighter dude, Canelo better watch out but then again Canelo only fights welterweights.

Posted January 24, 2013 5:20 am

Keith Thurman is fun too watch, this guy is a future champ’ I hope he decides to stay at 147 so whenever Broner finally gets to 147 so he can whoop his ass

Mick the Marmalizer

Be nice to see him in the UK once in a while!

I know Quintana is past his prime but I dont think Thurman’s performance in that fight should just be quickly dismissed as nothin because of that. That was a small step up in quality for Keith and he absolutely destroyed Quintana like he was fighting a child. I thought it was impressive. I am interested to see what happens as his opponents get better cuz I’m not 100% sold on him yet but damn he looked serious in that fight. Kirkland would be great to watch against him or how about K9, guaranteed not to go the distance.

Keith Thurman is a bum who ever thinks he is good is crazy along with glen tapia gamboa ,rigo they all never fight a top 10 and once they pass rounds they never fight before they weak I give broner some credit for fighting named people .

Posted January 23, 2013 8:23 pm

He can beat Kirkland right NOW. Canelo might be in trouble TOO. Lets see Golovkin vs. Thurman at 154.

Posted January 23, 2013 6:59 pm

Whenever this dude fights I’m watching. Keith is awesome.

Posted January 23, 2013 3:07 pm

Like all powerful brawlers I remain cautiously optimistic about Thurman but there’s no doubt I’m always excited to see him fight!

Posted January 23, 2013 2:39 pm

Keith Thurman ain’t NO JOKE… just sayin’

Posted January 23, 2013 2:33 pm
