I like to see guerro make the pay day he has earned it dont give him much chance but I know one thing after a foul guerro will not be apolgizing to mayweather and leave himself opened to be punched .the way ortiz did . even if gurerro cant beat floyd maybe he can punch that little punk justin biber a few times during the ring entrancePosted February 8, 2013 9:27 pm
P-Diddy – London
Many are comparing Guerrero to Hatton, but lets not forget pre -floyd, hatton was very useful and despite cortez being the ref he gave Floyd some trouble. The Fight was even at the 7th because of an unjustified point deduction. I doubt Guerrero can give Floyd that much trouble, because we are half a decade on and floyds defence has improved IMHO…. Also while he doesnt have true knockout power he does pack some mustard with his beef. This match is floyd’s to loose and while he is not the best ever, he is most certainly the best of his generation by a city kilometre. Looking forward to this night – I think this could be as one sided as the gatti match and if so I’m looking forward to it (not in an awful sense, Floyd is class to watch and Guerrero is being paid to be a sheep although he will never admit, having said that who would). Put another way, Guerrero should not be in a ring with Marquez let alone Floyd. 44-0.Posted January 24, 2013 6:47 pm
That’s what they’ve been saying about Marquez everytime he faces Pacman! I agree they should shut up with their dumb ass predictions already!!Posted January 4, 2013 11:39 pm
If Mayweather struggled against Cotto, the Ghost is going to make it even harder. He isn’t an easy W for Floyd. He isn’t getting any younger either,he didn’t look like his usual self against Cotto. Mayweather is definitely slowing down and the Ghost might just do a Marquez on him!Posted January 4, 2013 11:35 pm
That’s why Mayweather is fighting him.Posted January 3, 2013 6:53 pm
Way to easy fight for Floyd, I hope this fight doesn’t happen, I won’t watch. Or at least not pay PPV for itPosted January 3, 2013 12:36 am
SREDMOND getting his ass handed to him by TARK :) much like Guerrero won’t get much done against Floyd.Posted January 2, 2013 11:32 pm
Guerrero is not Hatton.. He’s a more confident and determined fighter, and he’s a much dirtier fighter. With any other referee Berto would have been a tough fight for Guerrero… Both Guerrero and Berto have messed up stances.. They’re both terrible.. That’s way Victor Ortiz, with no jab, was able to beat Berto.. Robert is ungainly, slow, and awkward.. Floyd’s jabs and left hooks are going to rip Guerrero and his straight rights are going to have him in trouble all the way.. Robert doesn’t duck, slip, or block punches very well, so he’s a dream fight for Floyd … as long as he doesn’t get away with fouling his head off.Posted January 2, 2013 11:12 pm
Joseph, Robert also has a tendency to lead with his face. I look at him as kind of a Hispanic Kelly Pavlik. Robert fought very smart against Andre Berto. But Berto is nowhere near the level of FMJ. Robert is going down and it’s going to be a painful loss for him, I think.Posted January 2, 2013 10:41 pm
“Mayweather vs. Guerrero: Robert has very little chance of winning” This is a fact. It’s also the reason Mayweather has “chosen” Guerrero as his next opponent.Posted January 2, 2013 10:39 pm
“but where Berto made the mistake was by not throwing enough punches”
Mayweather will spank Guerrero silly.Posted January 2, 2013 4:54 pm
Most people are discounting the Ghost just like they did before the Berto fight. Everyone seems to think that Guerrero is a mauling Hatton type fighter.
Where he can be the effective aggressor, Guerrero in reality is a chameleon in the ring. He can take the lead proficiently, use the entire ring effectively, fight on the inside, fight proficiently from the outside to mid range.
Guerrero will be more risk than most will recognize. This is why fighting Martinez makes more sense for Mayweather. If Mayweather struggles with or loses to Guerrero, most won’t consider how good Guerrero actually is and will jump to the conclusion that mayweather is washed up.
Tough and risky fight for Mayweather.Posted January 2, 2013 3:32 pm
Did the ghost foul YES! did he or does he fould any more than most boxers NO! every boxer clutches and hits when the opportunity presents itself.Posted January 2, 2013 1:51 pm
Thumb strikes really dude. redicules commentPosted January 2, 2013 1:46 pm
No chit. That’s why Mayweather agreed to fight Guerrero.Posted January 2, 2013 1:42 pm
I never liked Berto and never thought he could fight… But he still got screwed by Moret.
Berto probably would have lost with any referee.. But when both of your eyes are nailed shut by thumb strikes… when your opponent is allowed to grab you steer wrestling fashion, and repeatedly ram you up against the ropes, and hold you there with his head, shoulders, arms, and elbows… and when he’s allowed to hold and hit… and when he’s allowed to punch you relentlessly after the bell … you have very little chance.Posted January 2, 2013 1:04 pm
ROUGH and TOUGH my ass… A boxer can be as rough and tough as he likes within the rules of the sport. Being rough and tough doesn’t give you a license to be a dirty dog…
I am CERTAIN that Floyd would not OK Lou Moret to referee the Guerrero fight.Posted January 2, 2013 12:48 pm
Sred you’re an idiot… I love MMA, and it’s a much rougher sport than boxing—but it has rules.. You can’t spike someone on his head or you ge DQ’d.. You can’t gouge someone’s eyes or you get DQ’d.. You can’t kick someone in the head when he’s down or you get DQ’d … Now if you treat a boxing match like it’s MMA you should also be DQ’d.
Boxing has rules too—such as you can’t throw 20 punches after the final bell… You can’t hold somebody’s head with one hand and smash him with the other hand… You can’t grab someone repeatedly and wrestle him up against the ropes like you’re in a steer wrestling or Greco Roman wrestling contest… Using your head, shoulders, forearms, and elbows for leverage is illegal… Using thumb strikes and striking with the inside surface of the glove are illegal… Also—after about 100 warnings you should start taking points.Posted January 2, 2013 12:37 pm
Tark, stop your whining Guerrero fought a ROUGH, TOUGH fight and thats part of boxing if you want a cricket match or a gentlemanly dual then watch another sport.. Hard infighting is a forgotten art, was Guerrero over the line a couple of times? Sure he was but thas is boxing and Berto should have retaliated and discouraged the behavior if Floyd Mayweather can handle rough customers then whats wrong with a YOUNG prime fighter acting like he has balls…. Lou Moret is FAR from a dirty ref, you are just bitter because he was in the ring when Lewis smashed in Vitallis face…. Get over it boxing is a rough sport for rough men and thank god it is.Posted January 2, 2013 10:44 am
yea slim to nonePosted January 2, 2013 10:41 am
Mike, first of all Cortez has done retired as an active referee, secondly Guerreros style will play right into Floyd Mayweathers hands and he will be getting slammed with hard counter after HARD counter… Andre Berto is a guy who deespite having fast hands cannot adjust and moves in straight lines, Floyd has forgotten more about boxing than Berto ever knew… Guerreros spirit is not going to carry him against the best in the business… Good on him for getting a BIG fight but the odds of him are winning are SLIMPosted January 2, 2013 10:39 am
By the end of the second round of the Mosley fight Floyd had recovered and was tagging Mosley non stop. I see the Ghost trying to rough Floyd up in the first and second round, by the third the ghost is going to be backing up while eating sharp uppercuts, jabs and right hands. Got a feeling Mayweather is going to bring out the sickening sharp combinations in this fight. Go and ask Victor Ortiz if roughing Mayweather up helps LOLPosted January 2, 2013 9:04 am
Mayweather is not Whitaker ,Posted January 2, 2013 7:13 am
Guerrero’s style will bother Mayweather, so I give him more than a little chance. With that said, Im SURE Cortez will referee this fight. Remember that Cortez kept Hatton’s rough house tactics to a minimum en route to a Mayweather TKO win…he will need that kind of “assistance” against Guerrero. Mayweather should win by UD, Guerrero may be too tough to get stopped. Then a fall date with Alvarez is definitely in the cards.Posted January 2, 2013 6:57 am
I think ghost is a dirty fighter–albeit still a very good fighter in the top 20 p4p– and it will be his downfall in this bout. If you foul floyd you will pay for it, whether it be by getting fouled back even more effectively, or just him deciding to sit down on his punches more–see when cotto threw him through the ropes==, but one thing is certain, fighting dirty vs floyd will only get you hurt.Posted January 2, 2013 6:55 am
Berto did get thumbed, but it was by accident and lead to the second knockdown. And the even a blind man could see that guerrero grabbed berto by the back of the head and uppercutted him while holding his head with the opposite hand for the first knockdown. If you don’t think ghost got away with some nasty fouls you’re either a fanboy or blind.Posted January 2, 2013 6:53 am
At what point did Mosley give Floyd a tough fight outside of round 2? the fight was quite sad to watch because Floyd beat him up mercilessly.Posted January 2, 2013 5:55 am
Lol! You hurt huh?
I see the end of Mayweathers carear ending up kinda like Pernell Whitaker. Sometimes they don’t just get old overnight, they just start to fade away. Right to the end of Whitiker’s days, you started to notice that even the mediocre guys, start giving them a fight, and think that’s what’s unfolding with Mayweather. Because Floyd’s fights are so hand-picked, he doesn’t get too many people upseting the apperance. But although Cotto and Mosely were WAY past their prime, they STILL gave Floyd a tougher-than-expected fight, and I have a hunch Gerraro might look better than expected, but n the other hand, we don’t expect much of a match. The only reason we don’t see the deterioation in Floyd are A. He picks perfect opponents, usually some body who just upset a beter fighter, or an old move-up-in weight undersized guy. And of course Reason B. He only fights every year, so people keep the memory of him winning but he only fights the bare minimum of fights to keep us in our collectives. Any future Floyd fight could reveel his defeat, but we may never see it because Floyd sees it coming. He can do the best he can to keep the image going, but I have a hunch sat any given moment, there there are mutiple guys (some we dont even suspect) that can beat him. Mayweather by tko or a better than expected fight from Robert GerraroPosted January 2, 2013 3:12 am
I’ll tell you one thing… Lou Moret will not be refereeing this fight.. He’s the dirtiest most corrupt referee in the history of Boxing. Guerrero seemed to know no fouls would be called. By the time Berto realized no fouls would be called, both of his eyes were closed from thumb strikes … But whoever the referee is Floyd needs to be extremely wary. Guerrero will do any underhanded thing to win the fight.
Guerrero is a very bold, determined, and remorseless individual… a real badass in the worst sense of the word.. Probably not as bad as MargaCheato—but a good deal more clever.Posted January 2, 2013 1:47 am
And i think your really high.Posted January 1, 2013 11:32 pm
Let’s all be aware that this is only an opinion. It doesn’t mean that Robert won’t win either. We all have our say.
So now its my turn. I think the fight will be great for boxing and the boxing fans. I see Robert Guerrero shocking the world with his abilities. Win or lose, I think Guerrero is going to put one hell of a fight against Mayweather Jr. These are two very smart fighters going into the ring to give it their all and that is something we should be looking forward to seeing very soon!Posted January 1, 2013 10:52 pm
