Joseph, I can answer that. First off we didn’t say he had to give it up. I was just questioning why the decision was made. Secondly (and I’ve learned this one) the LAST person you want to believe sometimes is the fighter himself. Guys will say anything beforehand but it’s always a different story afterwards. We will see.

The reason I say this fight is a joke is that Rosado is not a middleweight, he’s a jr. Middleweight and has proven to have a suspect chin at best. At 160, against a huge puncher, they are leading this lamb to slaughter. Rosado earned the mandatory spot against IBF 154 Lbs champion Bundage, and it is mind boggling that he is taking a fight out of his weight class against a killer, when he should fight Bundrage in a fight he would probably win & stylistically the Bundrage fight would be an all out fan pleasing slugfest. I am a Rosado fan and that’s why I am at a total loss for this gross display of mismanagement by his team.

Rosado will die one hit or many combos over before the sixth his movement is going to give Golovkin problems his punching isn’t going to give him problems he is just going to get KO’d!

much respect to the philly fighter. he already shows more heart than most just by wanting this fight. he has a chance because he believes in himself. i was at the turning stone when GGG fought proksa. he seems slow and flat footed, but he uses angles, cuts off the ring, and is very strong and can take a hell of a punch. he has ring smarts that a lot of punchers don’t have. he also changes his speed, so he’s not as one dimensional as he seems. to beat him it’s going to take one helluva fighter with a lot of skills, power, and conditioning. rosado said he dares to be great, so time will tell. i’ll be at that fight too. after what i saw of him at the turning stone, i plan to see GGG live whenever i can.

This fight is not a joke. Golovkin might be the best MW in the world but we’ll have to wait and see. Hopefully he gets a chance to take on Martinez before he retires. In the meantime, taking on a solid contender like Rosado is just fine with me. I expect GGG to stop him, but this is boxing and you never know. I like how Rosado has been improving and staying busy. In any case, this should be a fun fight to watch. Maybe it will be a horrendous mismatch, but I don’t think it’s cool to disrespect a tough Philly fighter like Gabe Rosado just because you’re on board the Golovkin bandwagon.

Pavlik who I consider a great fighter at one time has no where near the punching power of GGG. A lot of skeptics used to say Calzaghe wasn’t a complete boxer also, believe me GGG definitely is. I have watched boxing since the great Cassius Clay fought Liston and I think we are going to see another great in GGG.Along with Leonard,Hearns,Hagler, and if you know anything about boxing another great on his way GGG.

Rosado will fold like a deckchair when GGG smashes him to pulp.

I agree with Peej, Martinez is ducking the top contenders, the sooner GGG wipes the floor with him the better but I cant see Martinez wanting the fight.

This fight is a JOKE, yes I said it and I’ll say it again, this fight is a JOKE! Golovkin is arguably the best middleweight in the world and a murderous puncher. Rosado is a good junior middleweight with a suspect chin at 154 lbs, who will fold like an accordion when he gets hit by GGG. Rosado was moved brilliantly by Main Events on their NBC series, I cannot for the life of me understand why they are sacrificing him for what I’m sure is short money. GGG wins via EARLY stoppage, with Rosado not being in the fight for 1 second!

Who might the top contenders be ?

Gets hit too easily to fight and elite puncher . He’d look like his 2 feet were tied together against a Martinez and wouldn’t have an answer. He wins by trapping guys in corners and pounding them. Not going to happen against a Floyd or a Sergio. maybe Marquez would present a competetive fight

I think GGG and Martinez would be a great fight . Martinez took Kelly Pavlicks best -who hits as hard or harder than GGG, He with stood 1000 shots in Williams l , and, remember , he was dead-tired at rthe end of the Chavez Jr. fight , got caught, and still fought right to the end of that round, winging knock out shots at Julio so I guess don’t think GGG is just going to waltz in and dominate him. IN FACT I think the ONLY way GGG has a chance is if he DOESNT go for a KO. A ” hurt” Martinez is a vvvveeeryyyyy dangerous Martinez

I’m not sure who Golovkin has beaten that makes him elite at this point. However, Rosado was KO’d by Angulo rather easily so I don’t think Rosado will last 6 rounds against Golovkin. Against, Martinez, I’m not sure Golovkin has shown he can handle that caliber of boxer…yet.

WEll I’m just saying as a complete boxer, atleast from what I have seen. He is not near as good or I guess in the accomplishments area but I think he is closer to a complete boxer than GGG

i wouldnt put bonner in there with ward and junior just yet …

GGG is not a complete boxer. From what I have seen he is a come forward power puncher. Heck he didn’t even really show anything but punching power. So until I see that, to me he is just a come forward fighter with some serious power in his fist. Which there is nothing wrong with that. A complete fighter in my opinion is someone like Ward or Mayweather, Broner. Those guys have it all, may not be the most powerfull but have enough power to keep you honest and can box, brawl, defend and go on the offense

GGG is about the most complete fighter in boxing today. He will destroy Rosado by the 6th round . He will destroy Martinez by the 8th and he would destroy Mayweather if he was to move up.I don’t believe there is anyone boxing today close to his weight class that stands a chance.

Gennady Golovkin is a complete boxer, speed, power on both hands, I think ( and this is my opinion ) not even Maravilla Martinez can beat GGG, Rosado could be good, but hey, not that good, not for GGG.

Martinez will never fight the top contenders in his divison as he has shown since winning the championship from Pavlik

What I would like to know is why these two writers make the assumption that Gabriel Rosado had to give up his opportunity to face K9 Bundrage to fight Triple G?

When King Gabriel visited the Pugilist KOrner several weeks ago, he stated that he wasn’t waiting around to fight K9 and the offer was presented to him by his promoter and HBO.

He is making half a mill for the fight so it was too good to pass up.

This is a golden opportunity for Gabe and company with nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Well, Martinez is almost 38 I believe. So will GGG have a couple of fights before the Martinez showdown? I think the catchweight will “even things up” in the opinion of Team Rosado. Not sure why this one was signed off on. There is part of me that wanted to give Rosado a chance. But he has to employ the style to make it happen and I don’t think he can sustain it.

hookoffthejab

so why the catch weight are they fighting for the middleweight title or the middle of the weight title ? GGG will crush him ……………..

Posted December 26, 2012 6:17 pm

KOrnerman

they are blowing Rosado up to be something he is not, Angulo whupped him, why does the champ have to drop weight that in itself is a joke surely, Golovkin vs Martinez is the fight that should be happening not this dropping weight sub standard opponent wtf.

Keep fighting those little guys GGG. Maybe you’ll get handed another title you didn’t earn. Let the hype train continue. Choo Choooooo!!!!
