Ben Hill- We just have to LMAO @ Haterdalgo. YOUR praising of ME brings out the TRUE hater in HIM… YOU have witnessed MY GREATNESS for yourself and this NON counting bonehead says I LOST more than I WON?? LMFAO! Let him go take a COUNTING class while WE celebrate….Ben Hill THANK you for the honor….I am the GREATEST Fight Prophet ever born!!!

lok, you are truly a moron

Deontay Wilder…”brilliant 2012″ …. In his biggest fight of ’12 he threw 2 punches in 3 rounds against 6′ 7″ guy who was leaning backward the entire time!! Wow!!!

Posted December 27, 2012 12:00 pm

…because PED’s r just as bad as loading gloves!!

Posted December 27, 2012 11:45 am

I luv JMM, but someone said it earlier, he fought 2 TIMES in 20012…2 TIMES!!! That’s about appropriate for a 39 yr old, but NOT FIGHTER of the YEAR!! As for fight of the yr, I like Berto/Guerrero…played out over a 12 round canvas and 3 outta 4 eyes were closed up by the 10th round. It also had its share of controversy, poor officiating and a great post fight interview. My only wish is that the PED champ would’ve been KTFO late in the 12th!!

Richard Abril took Brandon Rios to boxing school.

Fight of the year should be Juanma Lopez vs Orlando Salido 2 and round of the year should be round 9, Juanma Lopez vs orlando Salido

trout will embarrass canelo if they meet …

I’ve been saying this for a while now…it’s only a matter of time before Austin Trout is recognized as one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world.

Posted December 26, 2012 11:19 pm

Trout’s too good for his own good. Everyone’s afraid of him so he’s not going to get any new fights. Too bad, but I would be shocked if he fights anyone worthwhile next year.

Posted December 26, 2012 9:10 pm

Because Austin Trout was the most underated fighter of 2012 thats why.

“Visionary of the year: Boxtradamus” LMAO @ you Ben Hill. In the big fights of 2012 your “visionary” lost more than he won.

Posted December 26, 2012 6:37 pm

Yeah I liked that Rios fight. That was an action packed fight with many ebs and flows. The way the momentum would change. That is my fight of the year. Fighter of the year is harder, it would be between Marquez mainly becuase of the KO or Mares because he fought better comp and as a matter of fact he was the under dog in his last fight I think

Ben Hill

Visionary of the year: Boxtradamus
Prediction of the year: Ben Hill; “Danny Garcia’ Referee stoppage win over Amir Khan”
Muttonhead(s) of the year: Lucian Bute’s team and fans

rios-alvarado without question was fight of the year. I do realize it obviously didnt have a huge impact on the sport and didnt have nearly as big of names in it but as far as entertainment and the way it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time it was the best. It kinda reminded me of the first Coralles and castillo fight minus the crazy last round with the winner in serious trouble and turning it around. But like that fight from the start of the first round till the last punches bein thrown neither fighter slowed down or took a backwards step. The pac marquez fight was a truly great fight and i understand why it won FOTY but I guarantee if you watch both back to back you will agree with me.

Posted December 26, 2012 5:16 pm

the main thing that happened is it took the wind out off the Mayweather – Pacquiao debate

Posted December 26, 2012 4:16 pm

also abner mares should be in there for fighter of the year. 3 times tough dudes and always puts on a great fight

Posted December 26, 2012 3:33 pm

I think fighter of the year would be between donair and garcia. i think fighter of the year has to fight more than twice in a year.
round of the year has got to go to juanma vs salido rd9 absolutely sick. but ko and fight of the year defiantly go to pac and marquez for the size of that event and then for it to play out the way it did was the best thing boxing could have happen. personally we shouldn’t have a prospect of the year cause we need to make these young fighters realize they can’t get away with fighting nobodies and still get awarded for it. upset of the year to me is lopez for the facts already stated. worst decision i love that one cause i love cloud but he didn’t win that fight except in his dreams and even then he didn’t.

I agree unknown comic…it was a perfect shot. But because it wasn’t Green;s first trip to the canvas, most people attributed that KO to Green’s brittle chin…but it was a great money shot!!

Da UnKnown Comic

I know I’m in the minority but Mikkel Kessler hit Allan Green with the sweetest left hook I’ve seen since Ray Robinson. It was on the money. I know everyone else has JMM but…

Guys, everyone is entitled to their own opinions…if you don’t agree with Gogue, let’s hear all of your opinions. This is really interesting.

I can make a separate article reflecting the readers opinions. I will talk to Mark about setting up a readers poll.

Until then, keep your opinions coming…thanks!!

Because it wasn’t really an upset. Austin was an undefeated title holder who many were picking going into the fight. Josesito Lopez had never won a fight against someone at the level of Victor Ortiz. Lopez had never even fought as a Welterweight prior to his fight with Ortiz either.

Huge shocker…but I agree. I would have selected Sonny Boy Jaro stopping Ponjongkam as the Upset of the year.

Agree with most picks, but Abril vs Ríos for me is the worst desicion, Bronner gets the breakout performance and I’m just not that high on Thurman, Russell Jr, Price, Bomba González… I could name a bunch of prospects I would rate higher than Thurman.

Chill out, Anonomito…it’s Christmas. Brandon Rios vs. Mike Alvarado was more impactful to the sport than Marquez/Pacquiao? Really?

I think Gogue is right on the money with most of his selections…I only disagree with a few of his choices but don’t find reason to ridicule them.

Gogue is a brilliant guy who knows more about the way this sport is run than most trainers and fighters in the industry.

Obviously, the public’s lack of interest in a rematch between Bradley and Pacquiao pretty much proves Gogue’s theory of the bad decision not being so impactful to the careers of both fighters involved.

It’s hard to argue with Gogue’s logic because he’s a very sharp guy. He brings a lot more insight to the table than most trainers in the sport.

how is cotto not biggest upset

Please be specific, Anonomito. Who would you have chosen for the various categories and why? Please enlighten us with your wisdom.

Gouge needs to stick to training. These picks suck major pole.
