None of the Mayweathers can talk. I can barely understand Jeff and Roger and Floyd Sr, I can’t understand at all.

And NO… Don’t tell me that “Mayweather would simply counter any aggressor like Pacquiao the way he did Marquez”…. He didn’t with Judah in his prime until Judah got tired. Because Floyd has trouble with speedy southpaws, and although Mayweather would counter someone like Pacquiao a lot, he could not do it like Marquez can.

Why? Because:

1. Ole ‘wait-n-see’ counter-puncher Marquez, could and still can not come even close to attacking Mayweather the way Pacquiao could and would…

2. Marquez lives to take 2 punches in order to give 3…

3. Mayweather hates getting hit, and simply would not nor could not take someone like Pacquiao’s power shots and then counter him like Marquez does, simply because Floyd has never faced the relentless two-fisted, punching power that comes with the relentless work-rate Pacquiao produces, nor would Floyd be comfortable throwing the relentless amount of counters required to keep Pacquiao off him the way Marquez does.

Well SRedmond…. Truth be known since Floyd moved up from Featherweight (when I was a big fan) Lightweight and above, he has been more a talented risk manager than a prize fighter, as he has managed to fool gullible fans like YOU, REDMOND, that he is ALL that! You should feel duped or worse.

To realize why this is true, one need only consider that Floyd either picks fighters with historical stamina problems, Judah, & Oscar, or belated stamina issues, i.e. Mosley & Cotto, or those too slow who are singular strategists, who have handicaps such as little head movement, and who throw looping punches, which he can see coming by a mile, and then simply pot shot counters with that lunging signature straight right all night. I.E. game fighters such as a Boldomir, Gatti, or Ortiz. Or he picks those who have decent foot work who don’t know how to attack very well, such as Marquez, (a classic counter puncher like Floyd himself) who when he did try to come forward to attack out of pride and/or to please the crowd, Floyd simply countered him, like the way Marquez does others who attack him such as Pacquiao. In fact, I for one would gladly pay a premium to see Floyd try to go toe to toe, the way he did with Cotto, with this new bulkier, much faster Marquez, who won’t get tired like Cotto does… If Floyd tried that with Marquez, instead of just pot shot countering like in their first fight, I firmly think Floyd would end up faced down, like Pacquiao, much sooner than Pacquiao did.

And now, true to pattern, Floyd picks Guerrero, another typical Mayweather head-fake. Mayweather being able to espouse that Guerrero is in his prime is negated by the fact that he is essentially a Lightweight who just moved up to WW but two fights ago, And he’s a recent LW with only good speed and footwork and decent punching power even as a Lightweight. Essentially what amounts to a tune up for Mayweather with little real risk. JUST THE WAY FLOYD LIKES IT!

Indeed, as I have pointed out many times in past, and more recently as Floyd’s now estranged BFF, 50 Cent alluded to… Floyd only handpicks sure things, He NEVER picks fighters who have speed, and quick feet that know how to attack with volume and dangerous firepower and relentless gusto, WITHOUT getting tired! Say like Manny Pacquiao, a prime Mosley, or prime Cotto, and Prime Paul Williams, all of whom Floyd pretended to retire to avoid, or pretended to retire again when Oscar wanted a rematch.

In my book Floyd will go down as an ATG Con Artist of the fight game, who should have an asterisk next to the word ‘game’, with a bullet comment explaining that he mostly cherry-picked overrated zero.

Mayweather has be EVERY southpaw put in front of him by NO less than a UD he will handle Guerrero in fine style, they are two different classes of fighter….

Fighting Words

Fighting Guerrero would be a big mistake. Mayweather does not do well with South paw, and if Guerrero fight Mayweather like he did Berto, it will be long night for Mayweather. The pressure would make Mayweather come out of that shoulder roll stand or he could fall behind on points. Hatten and Ortiz were doing well with the pressure tachnique, but Hatton could not take a punch plus he was fighting out of his class at WW and Ortiz is just a boxer who appears to be mentally unstable when fighting.

only thing guerrero going to try to do is rough mayweather up on the inside same thing he did with berto get mayweather against the ropes trying to follow the miguel cotto blueprint robert to slow to box with mayweather on the outside he going to try to muscle mayweather berto was landing shots on robert so just imagin what mayweather willl do but robert got a good chin and heart and a will to win i see mayweather landing that straight right hand at will and uppercut and that check hook i think robert going to fight hard tho and give it his all it just wont be enough

Now you are showing that you don’t know boxing mentioning Tavoris Cloud who fights at 175 pounds you gotta be kidding me or is that a typo??? Suddenly Mayweather needs to fight a guy a full 3 or 4 divisions higher in order to be the man?? GET REAL and don’t start the whining about about courtesy and all that nonsense Haimat… You are sounding a tad goofy discussing Cloud UNLESS you meant Canelo

Posted December 25, 2012 7:24 am

SREDMOND

Canelo is SLOW compared to Floyd and why would Floyd NOT defend his Championship at 147? How does it NOT favor Canelo for Floyd to face another guy before him and get a bit OLDER and more ring worn in the process? Despite his unreal talent Mayweather turns 36 in February which is NOT a good age for fighters who rely on reflexes and speed most of Floyds bouts go 12 even though he is dishing more punishment over the past several contests…You gonna tell that that 36 year old Floyd is trying to let 22 year old Canelo get OLD so he can cherrypick him LMAO!!….Fact is Guerrero created some buzz by beating a top WW in a FOTY candidate , he is in his prime, he is left handed and he is hungry…. EVERYONE is made for Floyd, Canelo included you really think that kid can box with Mayweather ??? Hell of a talent but Floyd is NOT Kermit Cintron

Guerrero is the path of least resistance. No wonder Floyd took that path but he’s been going down that road since he fought Castillo about ten years back. Alvarez does have a good chance at beating Floyd at 154 that’s why we’re seeing Floyd Guerrero next which is a BS-match up. Guerrero got skills and takes a great shot but he’s slow and made to order for Floyd. Cloud is also trouble for Floyd. Floyd is trying to hold on to p4p rankings but he’s old, his footwork is slipping. I don’t think Floyd is in for a beating in 2013 if he mans up and fights the best!

time is on alvarez side I would not rush into a fight with a slick lefty like trout if i was alvarez . even mayweather will avoid this guy

I mean get real Hidalgo, Mosley was a 6-1 underdog against Pac Man and he fought like one everyone knew that fight was a JOKE…The Canelo fight was massive overkill, Shane played stepping stone and that is what his career has become at this point… Man has NOT won a fight since 2009

Posted December 25, 2012 1:06 am

SREDMOND

Hidalgo, Shane has GREAT things to say about ALL the guys beating him nowadays he has to give some reason for LOSING to these people so he can get the NEXT fight, he is selling his name out to make money…I understand Canelo building his record but he was in the ring with a WELL KNOWN WASHED UP fighter when he fought the guy that used to be named Sugar Shane…. We are not talking about the glove touching, sparring partner we see now becoming a stepping stone for guys…. When Floyd fought Shane there was perceived risk, when Canelo fought him we all knew he (Shane) had NO business in the ring…. He is doing the CLASSIC retirement 2 step, looking to face a light puncher he can possibly bully like Malignaggi…. Sad attempt Hidalgo, its been a rough ride for you since Manny got his face planted into the canvas…. SMH

Posted December 25, 2012 1:03 am

SREDMOND

Hidalgo are you REALLY going to try and sell Canelo beat THAT version of Shane Mosley as a good proxy for he would compete with Floyd Mayweather???? Floyd took Mosley after his biggest win in YEARS over Margo and boxed him senseless, no exaggeration Nazim was discussing stopping the fight…. Canelo fought Shane after he had NOT booked a win in 3 straight boxing matches and had been BLOWN out in 2 of them… Mosley had NOT beaten a professional fighter in 3 years when Canelo fought the 40 year old version of Shane Mosley that bout was a complete FARCE…. Mosley could NOT even book a win against Sergio Mora at 154 what a joke…

“Floyd Mayweather has shown he has the ANSWER no matter who you put in front of him,” Well, when the questions aren’t very hard, it’s easier to come up with the right answers.

“Canelo…but he is stationary and will have trouble when the starts getting countered…. ” This is BS. Canelo fought Shane Mosley every bit as well as Mayweather did and the kid looked good as he continually landed good hard shots on Shane’s face and body. He beat Shane up pretty good. The best Mayweather could do was to give Mosley a little redness on his face.

From Shane Mosley himself: “His defense was really good and he was really fast,” said Mosley, who has won five titles in three divisions. “He can go a long ways. When the kids start to beat you, you might need to start going to promoting. I didn’t expect him to be that fast or that good. He’s up there with the top guys [I’ve faced]. Mayweather is fast, Cotto, all those guys I fought. He’s up there with them.”

Of course you’ll find a way to discredit Mosley and Alvarez, won’t you SRedmond?

Posted December 24, 2012 10:49 pm

SREDMOND

Floyd Mayweather has shown he has the ANSWER no matter who you put in front of him, a spirited and determined Guerrero will bring the fight but wind up looking like Ortiz and walking into ALOT of hard counters… No way Floyd relaxes on the ropes unless it proves to be to his advantage, Andre Berto has NO legs and that is part of why his handspeed and snap don’t translate into dominant performances, his balance is not the best and he is easily manuevered into position… Floyd does not have the legs he once did, but he can still do whatever he wants in the ring and he will chew Guerrero up…. Canelo is solid combination puncher and he is a very good young fighter, but he is stationary and will have trouble when the starts getting countered…. Floyd Mayweather is one of the TOUGHEST fighters in boxing, whenever he had to rise to the occasion he did, Hatton got rough and got KOed, Ortiz fouled KOed, Mosely touched him dominated…

Mayweathers career is winding down and he is gonna fight Guerrero and Alvarez this year… It will take Manny Pacquiao at least 2013 to do enough rehab on his image to warrant a fight with Mayweather… Pacs going to fight and in my estimation defeat JMM who will have gone to the well once too often in his latter 30’s…. Floyd and Manny will duel in 2014 with the fight having FAR less meaning yet the two names will make the event a financial windfall… FACE IT if he can do 1.5 mill with Cotto, he will do 2 million PPV’s with Manny Pacquiao assuming Pac Man can get the job done against Marquez who rocked his world last time in the ring….

Floyd looked bad against Cotto? some people are super blind Floyd was amazing in that fight he caught Cotto with that right hook uppercut and nearly stopped him in the last round and he took some few shot so what this is boxing…i honestly dont see any fighter who can beat Floyd, Guererro not good enough he will be embarassed and probably stopped, Alvarez is not ready he was just dazed by Cotto a couple of figghts ago….maybe Martinez can give floyd a good fight but i see him loosing a wide decision …Floyd is just gifted i have accepted that.

I absolutely do not believe Mayweather will risk his career with a dirty fighter like Guerrero. No way that fight is happening.

I don`t understand when people say that Mayweather didn`t look good against Cotto cause cause he got hit a lot. What do you expect? Don`t you not rate Cotto at all? Cotto has fought more at that weight, and plus Mayweather went up in weight to fight him. Mayweather could have knocked him out but for some reason chose not to. Cotto is a good fighter and if pac had rematched him at 154, he would have knocked his ass out as well.

HappyBoy..I’ll tell you who the F. Alverez is for Floyd to be ducking….Did you watch the Cotto fight?? Sure Floyd won, but as slow as Cotto is, he got to Floyd, and more than once…Saul Alverez does everything Coto does, but much better, younger, faster, stronger, harder puncher, throws wicked body shots , and throws combos with bad intentions….That’s who this kid is, and Floyds never fought anyone like him, and is not about to do it towards the end of his career. And, another thing, Floyd doesn’t have the legs in the ring he used, and anyone that says “Oh, he’s just trying to please the fans” are full of it!

Posted December 24, 2012 12:28 am

The Prince

I don’t see this fight happening. If it’s about money and PPVs as Floyd claims, then Alvarez is the better choice. Of course, I wouldn’t care if he did fight Guerrero. The guy has more than earned his big payday. But if the fans don’t support it, then it’ll be a bust anyway.

Posted December 23, 2012 7:58 pm

Mayweather is ducking Alvarez man… Alvarez brings more money to the table.. Floyd better just say he’d rather not fight at 154 anymore in front of everyone.. because there has to be a good explanation why he ain’t fighting Alvarez,, but Guerrero instead.. disappointed man

Alverez is still young if he fights mw , and finds out he isnt on that level that could hurt him mentally.

The Best!

Kellermen commentator for HBO saying people are dun=mb for saying that Mayweather should fight the best, “its a business he says Mayweather should get as much money as he can.” Kellermen is a huge reason why boxing is going down. The Best should fight the best in their respective weightclasses and in their prime. mayweather has avoided everyone in their prime .

Guerrero,canelo,khan-t,trout,pacquiao, Im afraid all of them just aren’t good enough to beat money may,Canelo might put up a stiffer test than the rest but he needs to sit on his shots to have a chance and floyd wont let that happen so that fight might not be easy but it wont be too hard for floyd love him or lothe him he’s a different class to any one out there.just wish he did more fighting than talking about fighting.

Guerrero would be a terrible opponent for Floyd and it would also do poor numbers, If not Alvarez, then a Khan fight would probably be the next best option for me and bring in the most revenue.

Yep, Best choice for Floyd is Canelo Alvarez; Canelo has a lot of fans & is a clean fighter that will test Floyd’s legs for sure…Guerrero almost killed Berto with fouls & Floyd should not take chances with this dirty fighter. Besides, nobody is asking for that fight but Guerrero & 2 fans.

Schafer and De La Hoya are scared to death of Trout. They know Canelo would get tuned up worse than his brother did when he fought Trout. De La Hoya even stated that he thought Cotto made a poor choice in fighting Trout. They know when Canelo faces Trout he will get beat so they want it to be a big money fight. That way they will make maximum cash when their boy gets beat. Schafer, De La Hoya, and Canelo, GROW A PAIR, and take on a real Jr.Middleweight. Boxing fans get ready to watch Austin Trout clean up the division!

schaefer wants trout to win three or four more big fights before facing alvarez?thats hilarious considering there are aren’t 3 or 4 big fights out there at 154.their just protecting their cash cow canelo.fighting cotto shows that they know he is still a work in progress.who in the hell has canelo beat?promoters are ruining boxing, period.

Maybe the writer needs to watch the Floyd Cotto fight again, Floyd messed him up and may well have taken 10 rounds, he can’t rely on his legs as much but relies on his stinging punches instead. Cotto nearly got stopped. A fit, strong and motivated Cotto.

that is bs if alvarez fights cotto after he was just beaten by trout . if alvarez wants to avoid the slick lefty trout fror now thats ok just dont go fight cotto over him . and that guy schafer is a jerk to say that about trout . bottom line the fighter is the boss who he fights and hope alvarez dontttttt let schaffer make him look like a punk and cherry picker for fighting cotto at this time in cottos career
