Hatton will not comeback better than ever, he’ll be a shell of what he once was. But if he does anything worth talking about, I’ll give you props, for being such a diehard fan. BTW, I would like to also add Randell Bailey and Alexander to the list of fighters who will clean a come backing Hatton’s clock.

Come backs are for has beens.

whiteman who is the scumbag of this earth

floyd whipped that ass

victory or death

I just want to know whos training him thats going to say a lot right there needs someone whos isnt going to run him over to get in the spotlight like floyd senior I vote manny steward or even teddy atlas teddy would make sure he would listen to him between rounds an keep to the plan if you dont know what i mean watch teddy on moorer vs holyfield Im just referin to hattons way of forgeting everything an trying to run them over when the boxing aint workin

Floyd beat the SKILLS out of Hatton. And he shattered his punch resistance. He is now nothing but a knockout waiting to happen. Similar to Roy Jones Jr.

Posted August 23, 2012 9:57 pm

Hatton was a good fighter, with a great following. He was great for the sport. But Hatton will have a terrible time trying to get down to 140, and has already said, his arms are too short for 147. Those are his words not mine. He had a great run, but now he’s done. If he comes back, even the Maidana types will beat him. Sorry for the bad news man.

Posted August 23, 2012 8:11 pm

Ha ha ha, I was waiting for an idiot to grab the bait. I know exactly how bad Maidana is. And I also know for a fact Garcia would wreck Hatton at this point. Come on man, get with the times. We’re not walking in a Hatton wonderland, no more… No offense, but, Hatton is a proven drug addict and drunk. He will beat a few lower level guys, but if he faces anyone one with skill and/or power, and the ability to land punches he’s going to long for a bar stool in his dads pub. BTW, add Robert Gurrero and Selcuk Aydn to the list. Hatton’s gonna get wrecked if this is true.

This is not a bad fight for Hatton. While Malignaggi is a slick boxer, he isn’t a puncher. So Hatton could lose, not get beat up and then go for a trilogy to get revenge. Hatton fans would watch/pay for both fights and Hatton would be getting work/rounds to resharpen his skills, and if Hatton looks/feels good, and wins, he could then go after bigger prey. From a promotional view and for Ricky, it makes perfect sense.

Posted August 23, 2012 7:16 pm

No he wasnt and never came close, and when the ending came Hatton looked truly ridiculous when he banged his head off the post and fell on his back. He was nowhere neat the elite level, and grabbed on for dear life becasue he knew he could not take a shot…..hence the possible fight with Malinaggi.

Posted August 23, 2012 1:18 pm

This is a bad idea and can only end badly. I must assume that Ricky is broke. Too bad. He was a fine fighter and a good guy, but this is sad.

Posted August 23, 2012 8:25 am

Dan D

Actually, first round went to Ricky and he landed a decent left that had Mayweather back peddling and very nearly had him over. After that though, Floyd had control and fought a great fight.

Posted August 23, 2012 8:21 am

How did he challenge him when Hatton’s comeback isn’t even official yet? I guess it could happen but I didn’t think Malignaggi would call out a retired fighter…

Posted August 23, 2012 7:23 am

great news but dont rely on the daily star!!!

ricky hatton is no roberto duran.

Hatton was great for the sport but he should now contribute as an ambassador to it. He was never a great boxer but had a great heart. He is just going to get punished if he fights anyone good. Stay retired Hatton. What the wife sick of having you around?

Posted August 23, 2012 12:36 am

let me add, Garcia, Lopez, Mallanaggi, and Maidana to that list.

Posted August 22, 2012 10:14 pm

Bradley, Berto, Petterson, Ortiz, Khan, and Matthysse would all be too much for Hatton, at this point.

Posted August 22, 2012 10:10 pm

Uh, Malignaggi’s not going to fight 10/22 then fight Hatton in November. Nice story though.

Uh, Malignaggi’s not going to fight 10/22 then fight Hatton in November .Not happening. Nice story though.

Posted August 22, 2012 8:37 pm

Makes a lot of sense. Paulie will be fighting on October 20th and will be ready for Hatton on November, okay.

Posted August 22, 2012 7:50 pm

Makes sense. Paulie fights on October 20th and will be ready to fight Hatton in November.

Posted August 22, 2012 7:47 pm

Ricky was NOT beating Mayweather at any point in their fight. Mayweather held Hatton to like a 10% connect percentage and then made him pay in the 2nd half of the fight w/ crisp, clean combos. I was rooting AGAINST Mayweather, but at no point did he appear to be losing. Hatton should really focus on Malignaggi because he’s had a long layoff and the Magic Man is brimming w/ confidence after winning a WW belt. If Hatton defeats Malignaggi, he should set his sights on Khan. It’d be a tough, high-profile fight, especially in the UK. Mayweather and Pac would punch Hatton to sleep again in a rematch.

Posted August 22, 2012 7:43 pm

Dudes gonna go out being stopped by Paulie of all fighters! Should have left it with at least a puncher. Hatton has zero punch resistance. Lol

Posted August 22, 2012 7:02 pm

Why can’t boxers just retire and remain retired. Has Ricky run out of money already? I’ve got no interest at all in any proposed fight involving Ricky and I think most people will feel the same.

Posted August 22, 2012 6:26 pm

lol  Malignaggi v hatton in the uk $$## amir khan v hatton ###$$$ in the uk …then retirement… no big usa shows no big names 2 and out but he will ??? but who will be the hatton trainer..

Posted August 22, 2012 5:52 pm

I’ll watch but only because he’s fighting Malignaggi. Hatton was one of the most boring fighters with his constant holding. It’s nice to see Malignaggi get a payday but why is Hatton challenging someone he already beat for a rematch? Without Buddy McGirt around to throw towels Hatton won’t get a stoppage and might not even win.

Posted August 22, 2012 5:50 pm

Totally agree…. You cannot abuse your body and put it thru that sort of shock therapy the amount of times Ricky has and not expect to suffer the consequences…. Just think how good he could have been if he spent 10 weeks of his training on fundamentals, rather than getting down to fighting weight…. The likes of Mayweather and Cornelius Boza-Edwards generally would be walking around only three to four pounds over their fighting weights!

Posted August 22, 2012 5:38 pm

Ricky was never winning vs Floyd…. Money had him where he wanted him from the get-go and generally did as he pleased with him!

Posted August 22, 2012 5:35 pm

Hatton’s come back will be go about as well Ray Leonard’s when he came back to fight Camacho.

Posted August 22, 2012 5:27 pm

people and magazines talk alot of negative stuff about a hatton comeback but they will all watch !!!

Posted August 22, 2012 5:26 pm

So Ricky Hatton walks straight back into a world title fight! What does that do for all those dedicated boxers who work hard and pray for a chance at the title, fighting eliminators and for chump change????
Exactly what is wrong with boxing… Let him get to the back of the queue like everyone else and earn another crack at the title….
I know he’s still marketable, but heck, what’s the point of having rules if people just queue jump?
Next we’ll be seeing the comebacks of Lazarus…. Rocky and Apollo Creed…. If he beats Paulie, he’ll then be in line for shots vs Money & Pacman….
Totally ridiculous…. He should stay retired and enjoy life, looking after his fighters and his son…. Just my humble opinion!

What reputation?

Posted August 22, 2012 4:17 pm

What a waste of time and news.

Posted August 22, 2012 4:17 pm

Conventional boxing wisdom suggests that Paul Malignaggi is a very safe opponent for the comebacking Ricky Hatton but I’m not so sure. Although Malignaggi’s kayo percentage of only 20% doesn’t help him, the fact that Paulie won his last 4, including winning the WBA welterweight crown means he is more a force to be dealt with than his first fight with Ricky Hatton. Gil Clancy once observed that when a guy wins the belt, he automatically becomes a more confident, better fighter. Hatton, on the other hand, has 3 years of rust working against him following a devasting KO loss to Manny Pacquiao. Add to the mix his sudden weight drop of 40+ lbs. I’m not predicting good things for Ricky Hatton.

Until its announced then its not official is it Slater !

Posted August 22, 2012 4:00 pm

If this happens. And it’s a big if. It will be a huge mistake on hattons part

Posted August 22, 2012 3:55 pm

flash knock down

I have always been a big fan of Ricky Hatton he has only lost two fights one to Floyd the best fighter on this planet and to Manny maybe the next best fighter nothing to be a shamed of there. Here is my problem with Ricky he works out when he wants to he drinks and partys all the time you can not be the best in the world if you behave like this. Ricky is a really smart man he knows he has a huge fan base and we will pay to see him ut I believe he is taking advantage of us. Anyone can lose weight but do you still want to be the best that has ever lived and I don’t believe Rart icky wants to be the best. I believe he is coming back for the money I told you Ricky is smart. I will watch his first fight to see if he is for real. Ricky needs to fight someone else other than Malignaggi he has been away to long to fight a guy like this in a come back fight.

Posted August 22, 2012 3:33 pm

What vomit inducing article. The words Hatton and Legend really shouldn’t be associated with each other and the author is writing like an excited child….”even if most if not all Hatton fans would watch the fight behind trembling hands; their eyes only half open.” WTF !!??

Posted August 22, 2012 1:35 pm

The Kingslayer

Fake Malignaggi already has a fight lined up.

Fight Aficionado

This comeback isn’t official until Ricky Hatton announces it. Meantime the Star is trying to get the scoop first. I don’t know that paper though so I can’t say if they’re credible in this department.

Posted August 22, 2012 1:24 pm

Can someone explain to me how this is official ? Is it because the Daily Star says so !!! Has anyone heard it from Rickys Mouth ???? Has Bill the Kilichko Lover said it is, as he is the real expert on boxing !!! I forgot that fool only writes on Klitchko threads lol .

Posted August 22, 2012 12:52 pm

Slim Whitman

C’mon Ricky, lad!

Posted August 22, 2012 12:46 pm

wouldn’t trust the Daily Star, it’s not even good enough to be toilet paper. Yes a few people have jumped on the story but until Hatton comes out and says his officially coming back, i’m treating him as retired.
