Rob, it was because the WBA and Golden Boy wanted to anoint their hype-job paper champion poster boy Khan with a “gift” belt he didn’t have to fight anyone to earn and did so only 4 days before his fight with Danny Garcia. I was too happy to see the whole sordid exchange blow up in their faces when Khan was KTFO by Garcia. Now Garcia has the WBA belt, Khan has nothing and he’s still a hype-job, glass-jawed, no defensive fighting skills bum!

aw yes,the independent physician.every sport has one. he is probably the same guy that told Margarito, don’t worry about it. your eye looks good to me!

hopefully Judah will give more of an effort against Peterson after basically rolling over and playing dead for Khan?

Curtley, you’re entitled to your opinions of the situation as am I.

The IBF are a disgrace and anyone approving such a position has an agenda such as being a Peterson fan. However, you’ve put your loyalty for Peterson above your loyalty to this sport by approving this ridiculous position of the IBF. If you have enough money you can get doctors to say just about anything as the IBF have here – all I can hope is that some organisation has the money and the backbone to challenge the IBF on this.

Amen, even if Peterson was taking these for theraputic and not performance reason, the fact that he did not inform the authorities proves he knew it was against the rules and therefore knowingly broke them ie ‘cheated’.

Forget about this situation involved a fight against Khan as that seems to screw people up. This decision is simply bad for boxing and I think Peterson and his chums are relieved as they’ve somehow dodged a bullet. What is a therapeutic level of testosterone and what is not? What is a low level for natural testosterone in a person and what is not? If Peterson did have a low level of testosterone and wanted treatment for it he should not have continued to fight as he is fighting with the aid of a drug. Some Peterson fans may object to such a position but if they are fair they will accept that the administration of the drug coincided with a much improved performance by Peterson in the ring and so why can the drug be disregarded as a performance enhancement? Lets have Peterson off these drugs when he fights Judah and hopefully Khan.

you are a step above allthe other idiots in here/and your comment made me happy to know not everyone out here is an idiot

“The IBF’s independent physician determined that “the testosterone levels noted in the VADA report are consistent with the therapeutic use of the hormone and not for the purpose of performance enhancement.” So did Peterson intentionally cheat? Isn’t that the real question that needs to be answered? Testosterone levels that are “consistent with the therapeutic use of the hormone” indicate only that and nothing more. Still, I’m glad Lamont was vindicated. Hormones or no, Khan couldn’t handle him. Peterson will also beat Judah.

I guess you missed this: The IBF’s independent physician determined that “the testosterone levels noted in the VADA report are consistent with the therapeutic use of the hormone and not for the purpose of performance enhancement.” I’d the give the guy the benefit of the doubt. After all that’s the way any of us would want to be treated, right?

HerbTee you are wrong on so many levels, whatever the ‘reason’ Peterson had for using steroids is totally irrelevant and for him not to inform the authorities of the implants proves beyond doubt that the reason was suspect. Damn sportsmen get banned for using cold remedies that contain effedrin this decision is a farce and sends totally the wrong message. The WBA did the right thing and the IBF have proven during the fight and with this action that they are totally corrupt

Posted August 11, 2012 6:38 am

Why do they even bother with drug tests when there is no punishment if caught?

Posted August 11, 2012 5:57 am

Peterson should be banned … and stripped.

Posted August 11, 2012 5:47 am

HHLondon, very well said!

Posted August 11, 2012 4:32 am

WTF Cheaterson is allowed to defend his title? what the hell is wrong he admitted that he cheated!

Posted August 11, 2012 3:54 am

MyArse, After all the evidence, Peterson has been cleared of any wrongdoing!

Even the NSAC are content with the findings and Peterson is clear to defend the IBF belt!

Your anger should be directed towards the WBA who investigated nothing, stripped Peterson of the belt, so they could hand Khan a belt he ultimately lost anyway … in essence … a sanction fee … strong-armed!

If you, under the FOIA obtain all paperwork and prove otherwise that Lamont was “dirty”, contrary to the IBF and NSAC’s findings, then do let us all know ;-)

Bizarre. So not only are the IBF and WBA (still champion in recess remember) condoning the use of testoserone implants but they’re not even giving him a suspension. This is the kind of making-up-the-rules-as-you-go-along that you would normally only see with the WBC.

Richard Wadsworth

Khan’s a Golden Boy fighter, not Top Rank.

Posted August 10, 2012 11:40 pm

Good for him. Another strike against Amir Khan as well, who boasted about Peterson testing positive.

Danny Garcia should fight Lamont Peterson, the true 140 pound world champion!
