If Lewis had allowed that drug addict to continue and be permanently damaged, these people would be singing a different tune today. Anyway he will be damaged, he will not pack it in like he should, hell this guy is already punch-drunk.

Without doubt cruiserweight is the most lack luster weight in British Boxing & unfortunatlly looks to remain so for the foreseable future! :-(

Gray, if you had seen Macs fight with Shane Mcfilbin last time out then i think you would see why people are saying enzos a bum. It hurts me seeing him in the ring now.

ok this has to be said as im bemused why everyone is treating enzo like he is a bum and lewis should have known better – ok lets look at Enzo’s recent defeats before last night – Haye, Afolabi, Lebdev and fenkel – with the exception of fenkel who was undefeated and never fought again (and was given a beatdown before producing a hollywood punch so we dont know how good he was) all the people who beat Enzo are rated in the top 4 by the ring magazine !!! does that make Enzo a bum?? no because he hasnt been beaten by a bum and the ref ( and everyone else for that matter) had done his homework they would realise that enzo isnt a bum but a guy who has lost 4 fights at the highest level of the sport!!! – for perspective Bruno won a world title older and after 4 bad knockouts too!!!!! further to this despite some nasty ko’s enzo has never taken a real sustained hiding which is probably worse!! personally im more concerned for Amir khan who has taken far more full blooded punches in his career just watch the 4th round of the garcia fight and count how many power punches he took to the head!

what a terrible stoppage by the ref …it reminded me of the Calzaghe vs Peter Manfredo Jr. fight ..with that said ,, Maccarinelli is a terrible boxer ,,he has no jab ..his jab is a pushing jab and he reaches with it ,,considering he is the taller fighter .. he covers up from the punches ,,but has no head movement ,,that goes to show you how bad Enzo Calzaghe was as a trainer …

The Kingslayer

It’s gotten to the point where I refuse to watch fights involving Brittish refs because they stop fights way too early. Legendary fight like Castillo vs. Chico would never have happened if they were in the UK.

Good stoppage ref, you seen his eyes when no one else could…..

Posted November 10, 2012 3:45 pm

just prior to the fight we were told that mackenzie and his handlers had placed large bets that their man would stop enzo in under 3 rounds we then watched the ref stop a fight for no apparent reason .am i being cynical

I sat and waited all night to see this fight in particular, what a anti climax it was am glad I just pay subscription and not for a ticket, its a moment where the old standing eight count would have been ideal but the ref couldn’t use that now and he had no choice but to stop it after calling a halt to the action, which he shouldn’t have done to begin with.

HHLondon don’t defend his decision mate because it was the wrong one.

Hugh Jardon

The biggest losers here were the fans, Ian John Lewis should have his pay stopped for doing this and stopped refereeing until he proves be can make the right call, what a complete tool.

Uppercut, Lewis made a Rick, he knows that, we all know it, but he ain’t thrown a spanner in either fighters career.

Battle damage and after the Briggs fight, it looks like he’s learned his lesson and who needs to see Enzo getting sparked by Ovil anyway?

Enzo shouldnt even have a license, let alone dropping to 175 to fight for a title so blame the BBBofC!

How much did the ref take for that???????

Posted November 10, 2012 1:16 am

Another garbage stoppage by another incompetent referee. It ain’t golf you A-hole ref, it’s the fight game. These premature ejaculatory refs and corrupt decisions continue to destroy the sport. Steve Smoger needs to be cloned and have all of his doubles call the fights.

@HHLondon what you been he’s protecting the fighter he let briggs take a beating
British refs stop fight too early and lewis can not ref a fight period

Lewis was vilified for letting Klitschko hold Briggs up for 12 rnds and battering him into the ICU, here he may have a been a little early, but watching the slo-mo of Enzo on the ropes, he took a few big shots, was handing nothing back and we all know Enzo’s only a few digs away from the Park himself.

Lewis is damned if he does and damned if he don’t!

The ref, at the end of the day is there to protect the fighters from themselves and Lewis in my opinion is the only man there that could make that call.

Lewis is a boxing fan, great ref and deserves a break here!

Enzo was drained at 175 and wouldn’t have lasted the 12 anyway.

Lewis is a good ref and one of the straightest you’ll find in the game today.

that ref should be banned hes a disgrace to boxing funny thing he said sorry to enzo
he is a joke to boxing
