Most if not all of the Sore Loser Rants on these Boards are not from Argentinians.. they’re from Sore Losing Chihuahuas like te tumbo, who prayed to their Santa Muerte Saint for Sergio to Beat the Puerto Rican Super Star Cotto… Because it drives them insane when a Puerto Rican gets such Attention and Accolades.. LOL fkers never change..Posted June 11, 2014 10:20 am
Funny thing is I like Sergio, nice guy great story but in the 24/7 he was moaning and groaning about Cotto making demands and acting like a Diva.. his Biggest Gripe was claiming that Cotto wanted Sergio to enter first even though Sergio was the Champ? but come fight night we saw Cotto come in first with no fan fair or music.. plain and simple entrance.. So what was Sergio Biatchin about over those two episodes? seems like in the End Sergio proved to be the High Maintenance Diva who got knockedafkout Cold.. Bad night for Sergio and his Trainer who was just as Cockeey… Sergio was lying about Cotto..Posted June 9, 2014 11:47 am

I agree TARK isn’t a racist but he is an inveterate lier. He doesn’t listen when corrected, and he invents things to support his case. His repeated claim that the British public were crying out for calzaghe froch is an example. Numerous British people have told him this wasn’t the case, the media footage of the time indicate the same, but he still thinks he knows better than people who were actually therePosted June 9, 2014 12:27 am

There is a rules in boxing you first learn is to keep them up both hand in front go your face boy.
“TKO11 SERGIO MARTINEZ – (UPSET BAROMETER PEAKS AT 4 of 5) – IF COTTO BOXES INTELLIGENTLY, HE CAN COAST. I JUST DOUBT HE WILL” (lol). “Vito” strikes out again. so much for “expert” analysis. even I anticipated that Cotto could defeat a rusty and broken-down Martinez, which was the case, and that was withOut “expert boxing-journalist” access to trainers, fighters, fellow “experts”, combined with whatever personal combat-sports experience some of these “experts” cite to validate their opinions. ultimately, they are no more accurate than the average fight-fans’ and usually less accurate, e.g., see “official prediction” above.Posted June 8, 2014 11:13 am

Tomato Can, hats off on your call no way I saw Cotto beating Sergio like that it was sad to see Martinez have to end on his stool, but I’m happy for Cotto, in a perfect world he would retire on top but he just became the most attractive B side fighter for Floyd Canelo and Manny 10 mill easyPosted June 8, 2014 1:04 am

Rooting for cotto here I don’t care I lost. Was close knock down and rule the early inside fighting.
Well in anycase there were a few of us that thought Cotto would pull this out. And SM’s knees proved to be a big reason for the loss, just as we predicted. However, that was a great win for Cotto, now he better run back to 154 or 147 where he belongs.Posted June 8, 2014 12:21 am
Hey, That’s My Bike!!!
It’s over. Very very impressed with that performance by Cotto. This version of Cotto holds his own against any other Middleweight. If Pacman or Money think they could get a cheap belt here at Middleweight, they better think again. On tonights performance Cotto beats both at 160lbs.Posted June 8, 2014 12:21 am

Right to the body by Cotto. Better round for Martinez. Right by Cotto. Jab and a missed left by Martinez. Right, left, right, left by Cotto. Double-jab and a left by Martinez. Mart 0-6 Cott – Martinez best round but not good enough. Martinez landed his right hook many times but Cotto responded to everything with interest. Martinez needs a lucky punch.Posted June 8, 2014 12:06 am
So far so good
You know I going to say cotto will drop Martinez early. Logic say Martinez think he a strongest fighter, but he do t know cotto will beat him him up on the inside, and he will trade with cotto till he fine out he better outside. So still if cotto can hold it till 12 he win . He run out of gas Sergio will return the favor and drop him from the outside, still Martinez beat cotto barely.
Posted June 7, 2014 11:19 pmPosted June 8, 2014 12:04 am
Hey, That’s My Bike!!!
Mart 0-5 Cott – Martinez landed some sharp jabs and some good combos at the end. Cotto landing powerful left hooks and straight rights. Mixing them up head and body. Cotto looks really good.Posted June 8, 2014 12:02 am
Round 3: Martinez already rocky in the second round from a right hand. Left by Martinez, left by Cotto. Right hand by Cotto. Clinch. Martinez can’t keep Cotto off him, gets drilled to the head and body in a corner prior to a clash of heads that slows the action. Right, left, right by Martinez. Cotto hammers home a left to regain the momentum. Left to the head and two more shots to the body by Cotto. Left by Cotto is matched by a Martinez right. In the corner, Cotto lands three times to the body. Martinez takes another hard right and another from Cotto followed by a left to the body. Jab by Martinez as Cotto’s mouth drips blood. Cotto’s jab lands prior to a left and a right by Martinez. Cotto, 10-9; Cotto, 30-24.
He don’t need FreddiePosted June 8, 2014 12:01 am

Mart 0-4 Cot – Martinez now looks like he belongs but Cotto is still making the running. His left hook just can’t miss.Posted June 7, 2014 11:58 pm
Round 1: Fighters at ring center. Martinez already firing the jab. Hard right over the top from Cotto. Jab to the body by Cotto. Martinez circling. Another right by Cotto. Yet another right by Cotto. Hook by Cotto. HARD LEFT HOOK SHAKES MARTINEZ. Cotto’s on him in a corner. Three hard shots to the body by Cotto. MARTINEZ DOWN FACE FIRST FROM A LEFT TO THE HEAD. He’s up. A full 90 seconds left. Body shot by Cotto. Martinez is shaky. ANOTHER LEFT HOOK BY COTTO DROPS MARTINEZ. APPEARS THAT MARTINEZ’S RIGHT LEG HAS GONE OUT ON HIM. He’s up, but DOWN AGAIN APPARENTLY FROM A BODY SHOT!!!! Cotto, 10-6
Round 2: Martinez shaky. Bleeding from behind the ear. Cotto’s cutting off the ring and forcing Martinez toward the right knee. Cotto’s relaxed, takes two jabs by Martinez. Hook by Cotto. Martinez appears unable to escape it. Martinez down from an apparent right to the head, but referee Michael Griffin rules it a slip. Right to the head from Cotto. They trade lefts. Right by Cotto. Martinez is simply a feeble fighter. Right by Martinez. Left hook by Cotto. Cotto, 10-9; Cotto, 20-15

But watch Martinez will lose power and gain speed at the lower weight he have normal 154 lb power. So no ko, just logic folks.Posted June 7, 2014 9:01 pm
I like both guys and originally I was going with a late stoppage. I’m now feeling an early stoppage for Martinez. Too big, too strong and Cotto is long overdue for retirement. Cotto last fight was set up to make him look good and anyone who truly follows and understands boxing knows that his opponent had zero shot. Next up..GG vs Martinez at MSG.Posted June 7, 2014 8:53 pm
Chavez fight he redeem himself. Before he wasn’t busy enough.
But he is beatable inside as he a boxer. Roach will usef cotto to fight inside. That cotto advantage . Close and slug . If he don’t run out of gas he might win
I was very surprised how well Cotto was able to do against Mayweather considering how little he had left after the Margarito and Pacquiao maulings.
I know I’m in the minority but I’ve always thought a prime Cotto had Mayweather’s measure and that fight certainly did nothing to dispel that notion.
I actually had that closer than the official scores, which I felt were too wide in Mayweather’s favor.
If Martinez still has something left himself, and let’s not kid ourselves that’s a big if given his age, inactivity, and seemingly never ending battles with injuries, I fancy him to stop Cotto sometime between the 7th and 9th.
It suppose it could possibly last slightly longer if he opts to prolong Cotto’s misery and punish him for his diva-like antics and the disrespect he’s displayed towards him during the lead up to the fight.
Mind you I thought Martinez looked terrible last time out against Murray and we have no idea how much more he might have slipped since then.Posted June 7, 2014 8:34 pm

The REAL posters on this site know the REAL me from all you fake A$$ phonies!!! You can’t even get your CAPITALIZATION and exclamation POINTS right, but somehow you think you can PREdICT like me?? ENOUGH is ENOUGH. I worked HARD for many years since my first prediction of Douglas BEATING Mike Tyson and you think you can LIVE up to MY name?

Mike Tyson – I’m a fan of Cotto like most boxing fans. However, Cotto style is a bad match up with Martinez. I pick Sergio because he’s bigger, and if he shows up properly, more agile that Cotto. Cotto is good at cutting off the ring, but he’ll eat a lot of punches to do so if Sergio is game. Styles make fights.Posted June 7, 2014 7:58 pm
Come on The Prince. Cotto skills gets no credit wining?Posted June 7, 2014 7:50 pm

0ooo.. Boxtra , brave call too tko in 6. Nope . Don’t fall for the larger man. Skills remember? Cotto block 80% of shots with both hands high.
Can’t say the same for Sergio maybe after cotto tired 8-12 maybe. But bet you not. I say it will be cotto fight on the score card till he run to empty.
All in fun my friend. Skills win not weight but who has more skills? Hard call Martinez by a close decision.Posted June 7, 2014 7:33 pm

@anto. margarito had loaded gloves vs martinez. you can tell by watching the fight. grazing shots were killing martinez, a dead give away of loaded gloves. that’s the only ko loss of martinez’z career. funny thing
after nazim uncovered margarito’s treachery he never scored another stoppage. why? no more plaster. cotto had no problem with the toothless tiger 2nd timePosted June 7, 2014 6:51 pm
Should be a good fight. I’ll go with Cotto with a unanimous decision.Posted June 7, 2014 6:48 pm

I like both guys. They are true professionals and represent boxing as role models. Cotto can win if Martinez knee’s give up on him. Martinez is favorite but this is truly a 50/50 fight base on their past fights and boxing age and experience. I want Cotto to win and leave boxing in a high note, but I want Martinez to win because he is a role model to kids. Good luck to Both!!!

tark is right. duran had 100% ko ratio as a lightweight? lol. how many people out of a thousand are that stupid?Posted June 7, 2014 5:20 pm
All good points, Tark. Thanks for saying it so I don’t have to.Posted June 7, 2014 4:52 pm
Rich, rather than goad Boxtra stick your chicken neck on the chopping board and let us know your pick? Or are you a p(ssy?Posted June 7, 2014 4:46 pm
LOL… You get tired of the dumbnessPosted June 7, 2014 4:43 pm

Viv says.., “IF COTTO BOXES INTELLIGENTLY, HE CAN COAST”
Coasting would not be intelligent. That gives Cotto no chance. He has to work hard because he’s not the superior boxer.
Viv says.., “For Sergio Martinez, we are often reminded that his 38 year old body simply isn’t what it once was.”
Martinez turned 39 months ago… This simple fact takes a few seconds to check.
Viv says.., “The great Roberto Duran, had a 100% KO ratio as a lightweight.”
That’s abysmally stupid… Duran had 43 fights as a lightweight. The rest were at feather, super feather, super light, or heavier. 8 were decisions. 35 divided by 43 = 81%.Posted June 7, 2014 4:20 pm
Martinez via barbaric long range beating.Posted June 7, 2014 4:15 pm
I didn’t like this match up from the beginning. Cotto and Martinez are great fighters, but the reality is that they are on the way out and not at their prime. The question is: “who is going to show up.” It is anyone’s fight! I believe Cotto will win because he is the fresher man.Posted June 7, 2014 4:00 pm
Damm . Still fighting on my pick. Was Otto change to Martinez, watch a few of Sergio fight, he look goods, his left hand jabbing hand got better, but cotto has one of the best defense,
I alway get the feeling he could be more busy, and he don’t try hard enough.
PAC has a stupid corner, PAC survive on skills alone. Holding, use it, Floyd , Hopkins , wald,jr Jones,
Who ya got for this one Boxtra….C’mon which one…O greatest fight prophet who ever lived..Posted June 7, 2014 3:26 pm
Good “Vito” article as usual. Wallace brings up very good questions to make this bout interesting. Although I like both men and do not want to see either lose tonight, I believe that Martinez is too big and strong for Cotto. Also, Cotto has been in too many wars at this stage of his career. He’ll give it his best as usual but I doubt that he’ll beat Martinez.Posted June 7, 2014 2:48 pm
Martinez should win this mismatch vs. the too small Cotoo easily.Posted June 7, 2014 2:05 pm
Cotto can win if he boxes and doesn’t try to KO Sergio.Posted June 7, 2014 1:58 pm

If this fight goes the distance…Martinez can kiss his title GOODBYE….I just have a strange feeling…..Posted June 7, 2014 1:52 pm
Both Cotto and Martinez are on my top 10 favorites, so would have preferred each to have fought some one else. Business is what makes some of these matches — so be it.Posted June 7, 2014 1:51 pm

I believe Martinez will beat Cotto.Posted June 7, 2014 1:50 pm
Great article. The ultimate key is Cotto’s skills in the defense department. That’s something which I agree with Vivek about Roach. Hopefully, Roach did focus on this as he “so-say” eliminated Cotto’s flaws which were obvious in the Pacquiao fight, etc. For Sergio, offense-minded fighters have never been much of a problem except Margarito but Sergio was relatively a new-comer in the sport.Posted June 7, 2014 1:50 pm
Expected great fight but a very close outcome. Martinez never face a opponent with the technical ability and capable to make adjustments. Cotto split decision! History will be made.Posted June 7, 2014 1:36 pm
Great article!Posted June 7, 2014 1:29 pm
Good job with the write up, I’m glad someone though this fight worthy of an article here.Posted June 7, 2014 1:17 pm
