Donaire is finish, should’ve rematched Rigo like he kept saying he would. Now hes going around stealing belts. Gimme a break. Have a nice day.

Donaire is done…should’ve rematched Rigo if he was the real deal like he said. He keeps saying he wants the rematch but really doesn’t hes a pussy. Have a nice day.

Alright, Hidalgo since it looks like that you still insist and will stand up for what you belive even though it’s meaningless, I will provide you with the link that you are requesting. Look for the reply at 10:45, 11:01, and 11:07. Even boxing experts Larry Merchant and and Col. Bob Sheridan confirmed that there were multiple headbutts occurred. After watching the replay and you still insist that there is no headbutts, then there must be something wrong with you, either you need to put up a new sunglasses or it’s just the way you think. Cheers

Suck to be Donaire, he won the title and seems like filipino don’t really care. His people don’t really like him he just happen to be filipino, his like de la Hoya of the Philippines.

The Pinoy Pikey

Vetyeka should have gone in for the kill during one of those 300 occasions where Donaire dropped his gloves to his side and starting walking around the ring without the official protection of the ref during an official break in the action!

The Pinoy Pikey

Donaire behaves like a primadona who hasn’t paid his dues! He has 35 fights in a 14 year career and act’s like he is SRL…Give me a break!

Donaire is more like Victor Ortiz…When cut he quits.

Posted June 2, 2014 6:29 pm

Headbutt or not Donaire is a sissy, too much acting up and complaining on a contact sports. He is lucky he drop his opponents in the forth if not he will lose on points. Smart move for not continuing the fight and stop knowing he got 10-8 in round 4. Still his win looks like a robbery.

Posted June 2, 2014 6:28 pm

Thanks for confirming Donaire’s titles.

Posted June 2, 2014 6:01 am

If your analysis is right, then perhaps Donaire may not get a rematch with Vetyeka again. that is, if Arum senses that Donaire is would be in trouble the next time around. Arum is a wily promoter. He wants to keep on winning till he is ready to feed his ward to the lions for a hefty profit. Why not puch for a Rigo rematch? If the rematch with Vetyeka will not materialize, then perhaps this writer is right.

Posted June 2, 2014 5:53 am

I am a Donaire fan and hes my homeboy! but I believed he was acting like a “diva” last night, I have seen the same cuts on other fighters and they kept on fighting without the unnecessary “acting”. the decision to stop the fight after the 4rth round was an injustice to Vetyeka and the fans.

Posted June 2, 2014 3:54 am

One thing is clear. This stupid writer should stop writing. He mislead fights fans with this write up. what an idiot!

Posted June 2, 2014 3:49 am

Hidalgo, why are you asking for a link or a replay that shows the cut came from a headbutt and not from a punch when you have already drawn out your own baseless conclusion. I think it would be appropriate for you to shut up first, then find your own link to view the replay, then make your own senseless judgement.

Donaire is a p u ssy. He didn’t want any more. He’s overrated in my book. Exposed by Rigs. He don’t have the heart either. Stocks dropped on him, confirming my previous suspicions.

Posted June 1, 2014 10:41 pm

I agree it was the easy way out for ND, but being at a disadvantage as he said it was the best way out for him. I am surprised Rob Smith said he didn’t see the headbutt when in fact it was replayed multiple times and was validated, I even saw the ref made a gesture that it was a headbutt but not right after it happened – the next round i think, maybe Rob Smith was watching a different fight.

Didn’t watch but don’t support a rematch. Nobody knows Vetyeka and there’s bigger names to chase. No reason Donaire should be fighting nobodies in Macau at weird time slots on HBO-Z or whatever the hell channel they put him on.

Posted June 1, 2014 3:53 pm

Artical is very much off on Donair fight. He didn’t come out in the fourth round blazing at all. He knocked the guy down and attempted to finish him. In a four round fight he get a knock down in a four round fight so it’s automatically 2-2 regardless. If one judge scores one of the first 3 rounds for Donair he wins. Ref called it a cut by head butt so that’s how it goes.

boxing insight

Hidalgo, this is what was ruled out. As I’ve said, the decision was technical. If you’re thinking that Vetyeka should have won on points because of a knockdown after the bell on the 1st round, then that is also questionable. It just sounds that you hate Donaire instead of the judges. They scored it unanimous in favor of your hated boxer.

Posted June 1, 2014 12:38 pm

Boxing insight

I think that the stoppage is reasonable. The accidental head butt in the first round was reviewed and validated. You cannot put a fighter out there in a disadvantage due to an injury. Vetyeka should have been warned by the referee on the 2nd head butt incident. Technically, following the WBA rules, Donaire should win this fight, especially outpointing Vetyeka with the knock down. However, I believe there should be an immediate re-match. This was for a title belt and it would not be fair losing one via technical reasons.

Posted June 1, 2014 11:28 am

What a way to win a title…

Cuts are common in boxing, yet Nonito had complete control on when he can call timeouts? Part of the blame is on Vetyeka who should have been on him until the ref stopped the action.

Posted June 1, 2014 10:20 am

After the fight against Rigo…Nonito’s eye will never be the same.

Posted June 1, 2014 8:47 am

Jjjjjj… If Nonito Don Nadie, the mot overrated boxer in the last 10 years, was in trouble against Vetyeka, then this mediocre and arrogant Filipino will be easily beated in the featherweight…

Rigo is coming to town…!!!

Here is a writer who wants to take on all the judges and brand them as stupid! Even if the alleged headbutt was a punch, rules dictate that they go to the scorecards and yet this writer chose to bad mouth, cast doubt on Donaire and sway public opinion!

The fans may have been short changed, but there was no sense for Donair to continue with the chance of taking further damage to the eye. He knew he was winning, and he also knew he was going to clash heads again. It was the easy way out, I agree with that, but given the circumstances it was the best way out for Donaire. Hopefully they’ll do the rematch, cause Vetyeka didn’t deserve to lose like that.

The cut wasn’t that bad,, Donaire could’ve fought on but he took the easy way out..that’s too bad because I felt Nonito could’ve score himself a great win if he would’ve kept fighting..

Posted June 1, 2014 12:16 am

I think there is no need for a rematch. It was very clear that the skills of both fighter were very far apart. If there were no multiple headbutts occurred, there is no way that Vetyeka could passed the six rounds.

Posted June 1, 2014 12:14 am

nonito won fair and square.both fighter were given a fair chance to win,but nonito won clearly despite a big disadvantage.should vetyeka is leading in the scorecards, simply he won.

It was obvious where the fight was going had the fight continued on after the 4th round. Sure Vetyeka may have some success here and there but end result would be that Vetyeka was going to lose by a KO.

It was Donaire nailed Vetyeka at 4th round 1:25mins remaining. That was the statement by donaire, looked at the faced of vetyeka, rubbing his face and Donaire nailed him again before the bell! why this idiot writer said that it was vetyeka controlling the fight.. wtf…

The bottom line is rules are rules. It may not seem fair, but until the rules are changed it is what it is. Donaire gets a bad wrap from a lot of fans, so I’m sure many will be upset about how he won the title…. If Vetyeka would have been leading after 4 then the fight would have went on and he might of retained his title. But he and his team let the fight get away from them. You could see what was going to happen from a mile away…

Posted May 31, 2014 9:01 pm

There was tons of illegal head contact… Obvously the severity of the cut caused Donaire to flinch whenever the heads come together… and illegal contact contributed to the severity of the cuts.. When one fighter is struggling with his vision you call time out to have the doctor check him and advise on stopping the fight or not.

Donaire was winning the fight on all cards… The cut was clearly caused or contributed to by illegal contact, i.e. head clashes… Therefore, if the fight is stopped because of the cut, you go to the scorecards..

Donaire wins unanimous technical decision with 5th round stoppage… But why was the bell rung for the 5th??? In that jurisdiction, did the 5th round have to start to go to the scorecards??? That’s the only thing I can figure … It doesn’t make any sense to go to the 5th if 4 rounds have been completed … It’s up to the judges anyway… Weird

Posted May 31, 2014 8:06 pm

Donaire should be ashamed of himself for stealing a title like that. A coward does what Donaire did after knocking Vetyeka down and crying to the referee knowing he could steal the title. A coward is what Donaire is. Boxing continues to show its corruption. Vetyeka had his belt stolen. Give this man his title back. Donaire humiliated himself by purposely quitting and stealing this belt. One thing is for sure, he is no Manny Pacquiao.

Posted May 31, 2014 7:42 pm

Dinaire quit because he knew he had a 10- 8 round in the books and the fight had gone 4 rounds. You can be sure if he did nt score that knockdown he would have continued to fight. Basilio fought Sugar Ray Robinson with one eye completely shut for the last half of a 15 round fight. Donaire should be considered for an Oscar for his acting. Donaire would have been beaten , he felt his oponent coming on.

Posted May 31, 2014 7:31 pm

“Donaire came out on fire in the 4th round, as if he knew this was going to be his last round of the fight. He nailed Vetyeka with a left hand to the head in the round. He also hit him with a hard right hand that seemed to briefly bother Vetyeka. However, it was Vetyeka who seemed to be getting the better of Donaire as the round ended, and he looked to be the smoother and stronger fighter of the two.” Who is writing this? This was the same round that Donaire knocked down Vetyeka and was ready to knock him out at the end of the round. No mention of the knockdown, Mr. writer. Where does Eastside get these writers? Do they even have editors?

Posted May 31, 2014 6:06 pm

Donaire won the fight fair and square. But, if he wasn’t leading, with the knockdown, he would not have wanted that fight stopped, like it was. Would the ref, had still stopped the fight if that was the case? Maybe not. At least Donaire says he wants to give Vetyeka the rematch.

It’s robbery by Rob Smith for writing a bias report . . .don’t blame the referee, he consulted the Dr. twice . . . nothing wrong with the officiating . . .Donaire goes on the floor when he was hit after the bell 0n the 1st round and the real convincing KD was on the 4th.

Posted May 31, 2014 3:50 pm

Terrible observation and obvious bias from Rob Smith. Nobody at ringside, let alone the replay, could decisively say the cut was caused by a punch, elbow, or headbutt. What WAS clear was a 3rd round schooling and 4th round knockdown. Vetyeka’s legs were shaken up multiple times as he held on the ropes from falling from different punches both rounds.

The ref here committed multiple offenses:
1) failed to rule on the headbutt/elbow/right hand that caused the cut
2) missed a possible knockdown 8-count when Vetyeka held the ropes from going down
3) allowed Donaire to call time-outs
4) allowed the fight to continue after Donaire said he couldn’t see from the cut eye
5) consulted with the WBA president, NOT the doctor before deciding to stop the fight
6) made an official ring the bell for the start of the 5th round but kept the fighters in their corners, so the judges could score one more round without a fight being thrown

After you say the punches facts, (that all that matters) your personal feeling come into play, that shows you are a vetyeka fan. If you told what punches vetyeka threw that hurt donaire your be more convincing.

I didn’t actually watch this fight yet, so this writer’s observation could be wrong.

Posted May 31, 2014 12:17 pm

blind rob

it was a clash of heads before the missed right hand. it was a late reaction from donaire. ref did not see it but realized he should have called it accidental headbutt. gawd, boxing writers are as clueless as judges

Clash of heads hit the right eye, not the left eye. Donaire was cut over the left eye, which is where the right hand from Vetyeka hit him. This was shown in replay after replay in slow motion. No cut until the right hand from Vetyeka landed.

Posted May 31, 2014 12:12 pm

It wasn’t a robbery. The replay shows it was an elbow which caused the cut. And even if the we argue that it was indeed a punch inflicted cut, it was still a foul because it happened after the bell. I couldn’t imagine how the fight could’ve gone if Donaire had no cut, a blind bleeding Nonito just sent Vetyeka off the canvas and had him surviving before the round ended.

This must be the new Top Rank business model: rematches. Or controversy, and then rematches. I guess that’s the only option when the stable is depleted.

We had Pacquiao-Bradley 1 & 2, Chavez-Vera 1 & 2, and I’ll sure we’ll have Donaire-Vetkeya 1 & 2.

Do you remember Marco Antonio Barrera vs Amir Khan.
It was here in UK, but I can’t remember the ref. Anyway, Barrera was badly cut on his scalp early (I reckon from a Khan unintentional butt). Anyway, the ref and camp Barrera had an argument between the 3rd and 4th as it was clear Barrera was bleeding like a pig stuck with knives. They wanted to pull out…. It would have been a No Decision…. But, the ref forced Barrera out knowing that if the fight was stopped Khan would win the verdict. .Guess what, Khan’s hand was raised moments later.

That was a definite shady move pulled on MAB!
