Floyd Mayweather lost to Marcos Maidana last night, and that was clear except to the blind LAS VEGAS judges as usual. Marcos did everything he needed to do to win, and he is the champion in the eyes of the public. Effective pressure, volume punching and an in your face boxing style overwhelmed Mayweather from the start. Marcos Maidana was landing solid jabs all night out. Floyd Mayweather did the only thing he does when a fight gets tough, he held on for dear life, which by the way is ILLEGAL! Referee Tony Weeks took points away from Kahn, but did nothing but hinder Marcos Maidana from being even more effective. The fans knew it. We all saw a clear victory for Maidana, but as usual, Floyd Mayweather fighting in Las Vegas, which is the only place he will ever fight seems to have a lot of power and pull on all of his fights. Jose Luis castillo beat him and was robbed, Oscar De La Hoya beat him and was robbed and now Marcos Maidana beats him, and guess what? Marcos got robbed. Judge Clements had the fight scored for Mayweather by a ridiculous score of 117-111???? This guy needs to be abolished from boxing as does Judge Moretti. I’ve watched this fight a few times, and I can say without bias that Marcos Maidana was the clear victor last night if you know how to score a fight objectively ans use ALL criteria to score a round. And fans know full well why Floyd Maywether wanted no part of the legendary Manny Pacquiao. Marcos Maidan with all due respect best not be barking at the wrong tree if he thinks he can deal with the legend that is Manny Pacquiao. Manny knocks out Maidana inside of 6 rounds, trust me on this. Floyd Mayweather was exposed as the fighter all boxing fans knew he was. He could never handle Manny Pacquiao’s offensive, brutal southpaw, awkward style of fighting. Manny would be 10 times more difficult with his speed and power and feints than was Maidana last night. The Post fight press conference was nothing more than an ego maniac that had to hog the stage because he knew he lost. Floyd went on ranting and raving about the low blows and elbosw and all this other garbage so that he could give fans and excuse as to why he got beat, and then to have an entourage of his dummies on stage was a joke. Marcos Maidana basically said stop you’re talking and I will give you a rematch. Maidana knew he won. The sport of boxing has become a big joke ever since Al Haymon and Showtime’s puppets (commentators) have been trying to monopolize the sport of boxing. They seem to have way too much power with all aspects of a Mayweather fight. The glove issue was a joke if they had already been approved by the commission. I can now see how money can buy power. Floyd Mayweather sure seemed to be anxious and wanted the entire press conference to himself because he knew he lost. No more talk about being great, no more talk about being being in the same level as Manny Pacquiao, no more talk about how he could have handle any greats past or present. The truth of the matter is that Floyd was crying and complaining and received a big gift by those that live in Nevada and are judges. Congratulations to Marcos Maidana, a man with class, dignity and the real winner of last night’s fight.Posted May 4, 2014 1:31 pm

Going back to SRR era, Floyd does know that SRR fought with horse hair gloves that I think were actually 6oz during those times.Posted May 3, 2014 9:10 pm
Even way back when they didn’t have the higher quality gloves today and boxing was still in the dark ages of “modern” times, they would “negotiate” what they would wrap their hands with. Now given, we are talking about a time when they were discussing if they should wrap their hands in leather or some type of cloth with tape but I’m just saying…the glove choosing has been done for a long time.
Of course I don’t know if those fighters were more concerned with the fighter’s health (as Floyd whined about) or it was strictly for the real intention of the gloves which was Either to influct more damage (like the Greeks and Romans prefered) or just to protect their hands from breaking but allowing for maximum force.
O’ yeah, on that note, can someone explain to Floyd that Gloves were created to prevent hand injuries and not so much about protecting a fighter’s health. After all, we are talking about a combat sport that relies on entertaining the crowd with violent blows to the head. Floyd may see this as amateur boxing while talking all tough like a street person but people tune in to see one man dominating another man’s spirit.
I’m not saying what he does is bad, NO, as we’ve read history and found many “scientific” fighters throughout, however; what you do is not necessarily the same intent as the other fighter who is there to let off some steam and show his dominance.Posted May 3, 2014 9:08 pm
Study your history then. If it wasn’t the fighter it was the manager or trainer doing the bidding.
SRR was one of the original divas. Even threatening to pull out of fights at the last minute if they didn’t increase his pay. You heard it from SRR because he was his own man like FLoyd is his today. Most of the rest just had their trainer/manager looking out for them and they would do the “negotiations” to make it more manly.Posted May 3, 2014 9:02 pm

ps to put it another way would anyone bet on broner beating thurman, porter or garcia at this point? very very doubtful!!! the question is how far down has broner slippedPosted May 3, 2014 8:29 pm
im starting to think everyone might be underestimating broners fight. broner took a beating aganist maidana and still seems more interested in his image than honing his skills at the top level you cant do that and lets be straight he basically lost his last 2 fightsPosted May 3, 2014 8:24 pm
EZ E lol! next mayweather will be telling maidana he can only use the gloves if pacquiaio sacks bob arum lol!!!Posted May 3, 2014 8:21 pm
By the way, has Floyd decided to allow Maidana to use Nevada Commission APPROVED gloves yet? GOAT?? LOLOL!! What a joke. I’ve NEVER heard Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, Marciano, Charles, Hagler, Hearns, Calzaghi, Archie, Pep, Basilio, Duran, Monzon, Olivares, Chavez Sr, Sanchez, Gomez, Chacon… pulling this sissy sh*t, NEVER!!Posted May 3, 2014 8:15 pm

I wasnt impressed with the Rios or the Bradley rematch, Rios was garbage he looked out of shape fat and stood right in front of Manny like a gift and he couldn’t finish him. And Bradley was winning until he punches himself out of gas another gift Manny looked old and winded himself certainly not like the old Manny he didnt have the same snap in his punches and he seemed timid to engage unlike before in 09. Overall he hasnt been challenged since his loss to Marquez.Posted May 3, 2014 5:59 pm

same old sore-losing, sour grapes from HecDog who has somehow resisted the impulse to boast of Manny’s* latest PPV numbers(?). otherwise, tonight fight-card is loaded with the type of ring-moment that fight-fans anticipate and look forward too. history is on the line; any single upset reshuffles the rankings; and there are a Lot of rankings up for grabs on tonight’s fight-card. as usual, Pacquiao* is waiting on the sidelines hoping to swoop in on one of the losers. after all, he wouldn’t dare go near any of the winners on tonight’s fight-card. that the kind of active ring-great that Pacquiao* isN’T and never has been.Posted May 3, 2014 5:51 pm
Manny turned down 40 million. Even Dana White who is a bigger supporter of Floyd said Manny should have taken it, win the fight and get an even bigger payday in the rematch.
Sorry, but both fighters failed to give the fans they want. Floyd is just easier to chose as the scape goat because he is seen as the evil guy.Posted May 3, 2014 5:48 pm
Danny Bile who has Floyd not fought besides Manny? Who is he ducking? Didn’t Manny decline the fight in 09? You know Bile mean sht right? You know Bile about boxing lol…Posted May 3, 2014 5:43 pm

A GREAT NIGHT FOR BOXING… I’m predicting an early stoppage by Floyd before the 5th round. .. Khan should retire after tonight I can’t see him winning, HE HAS NO POWER… Broner must also win to keep any credibility, he can’t lose 2 in a row, this should NOT be an easy fight for him…If he wins he better win BIG .. 775,000 sucks as far as ppvs go you need to crack 1 million to have a good night
It may “suck” for someone named Pac and May but not for anyone else. 1 million PPV are rare. 500K is seen as good.Posted May 3, 2014 5:19 pm

Ariza doesn’t pack muscle on his fighters like Memo does. He works on conditioning first and not lifting which JMM did for the Pac fight.
Old School boxers used to fight for 15+ rounds and didn’t look muscular.
Ariza does like sprint workouts that does build muscle compared to the long distance runner type, but his objective is first Stamina, Muscle building for power second. In this fight, Maidana has born power so the need for improving Stamina #1, and Speed #2 is more key in how he wants to build his fighter’s physique.
Khan had more stamina under Ariza than anyone else and his body didn’t look as muscular as it would in other fights without Ariza.Posted May 3, 2014 5:11 pm
I’ve hoped to see Maidana in a better shape (more like the late Marquez). The way he looks I don’t know if he’ll be able to fight every 3 minute of every round and this was his only chance of winning.Posted May 3, 2014 4:57 pm
Floyd is on a level all by himself.Posted May 3, 2014 4:56 pm
Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley’s welterweight title fight last month generated between 775,000 and 800,000 pay per view buys, multiple sources familiar with the numbers told SI.com.
The number is a significant improvement for Pacquiao from his last fight. Last November, Pacquaio’s bout against Brandon Rios generated 475,000 buys.
Does it really matter about the sales or the fights?Posted May 3, 2014 4:49 pm
What is failing?
Was Pac’s fight with Rios a failed PPV?
Maybe Pac vs. Bradley II did better. Do you have the numbers?Posted May 3, 2014 4:48 pm

The lead up to this fight has been horrible. Issue after issue after issue all to try and sell this awful fight card. You can’t fool people all the time. Mayweather and his company best try acting with some dignity and start treating fans and the general public with some respect. His ranting and raving about his ex fiancee’s abortion, Nelly now dating her, the glove issues and the constant complaint from boxing fans to have Mayweather fight the greatest fighter of all time, Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao all point to desperation from a fighter and his company slowly but surely being exposed for who they really are. This PPV is failing. People aren’t going to shell out $60-$70 for this circus act. Boxing has become nothing more than a circus act every time Floyd Mayweather fights. People see right through him now. Thanks Floyd Mayweather for making the great sport of boxing seem like a big joke.Posted May 3, 2014 4:36 pm
