OMG, much bigger post than I expected. So sorry, the quoted article really made it big.Posted March 20, 2014 10:35 pm
“Btw, Manny* avoiding Floyd over stricter testing remains the only issue worth addressing.”
Oh, I don’t know. How about re-addressing rumors that Floyd failed three “A” sample drug tests , and that the USADA gave him a pass all three times? It was big news when it first broke in 2012, but after the scribe who broke the story was threatened with lawsuits, and after Floyd suddenly made an out-of-court settlement with Pac over his lawsuit (after news of the rumor broke), all of a sudden everything went quiet. From Thomas Hauser’s original article on the subject:
“On May 20, 2012, a rumor filtered through the drug-testing community that Mayweather had tested positive on three occasions for an illegal performance-enhancing drug.
More specifically, it was rumored that Mayweather’s “A” sample had tested positive on three occasions and, after each positive test, USADA had found exceptional circumstances in the form of inadvertent use and gave Floyd a waiver. This waiver, according to the rumor, negated the need for a test of Floyd’s “B” sample. And because the “B” sample was never tested, a loophole in USADA’s contract with Mayweather and Golden Boy allowed the testing to proceed without the positive “A” sample results being reported to Mayweather’s opponent or the Nevada State Athletic Commission (which had jurisdiction over the fights).
In late-May, Pacquiao’s attorneys heard the rumor. On June 4, 2012, they served document demands and subpoenas on Mayweather, Mayweather Promotions, Golden Boy and USADA calling for the production of all documents that related to PED testing of Mayweather for the Shane Mosley, Victor Ortiz and Miguel Cotto fights.
The documents were not produced. There was a delay in the proceedings while Floyd spent nine weeks in the Clark County Detention Center after pleading guilty to charges of domestic violence and harassment. Upon his release from jail on August 2nd, settlement talks heated up.
On September 25, 2012, a stipulation of settlement ending the defamation case was filed with the court. The parties agreed that the terms of settlement would be kept confidential. Prior to the agreement being signed, two sources with detailed knowledge of the proceedings told this writer that Mayweather’s initial monetary settlement offer was “substantially more” than Pacquiao’s attorneys had expected it would be and an agreement in principle was reached soon afterward.
As part of the settlement, the Mayweathers and Mayweather Promotions issued a statement that read: “Floyd Mayweather Jr., Floyd Mayweather Sr., Roger Mayweather and Mayweather Promotions wish to make it clear that they never intended to claim that Manny Pacquiao has used or is using any performance-enhancing drugs nor are they aware of any evidence that Manny Pacquiao has used performance-enhancing drugs. Manny Pacquiao is a great champion and no one should construe any of our prior remarks as claiming that Manny Pacquiao has used performance-enhancing drugs.”
My point is, there is no concrete proof ever shown that Manny ever did PEDs or that he had anything to hide. There’s also no concrete proof–that we know of–that Floyd failed three drug tests and that the USADA gave him a free pass, i.e.: an intentional cover-up, on all three of them without requiring B sample tests to repudiate or substantiate the results of the first tests, or that he or the USADA had anything to hide.
So, why is there no asterisk next to Floyd’s last name? Why te tumbo, do you continue to be so bitter towards Manny Pacquiao when Floyd should be exposed under the same shadow of doubt? I don’t recall any scribe or reporter and boxing analyst or commentator, or anyone in the sport for that matter–other than Teddy Atlas who couldn’t seem to produce an email that he claimed existed–who could even offer as much information against Pacquiao as was offered against Mayweather.
And today, Floyd looks more ripped than ever when he fights. How is that possible? Especially at 147 lbs. a weight at which he has had many fights and been fighting at for a long time? Rumor?Posted March 20, 2014 10:34 pm

Arum thought Manny was special so he turned down 40 million now I bet he is kicking himself in the ass for not taking it considering he has no big fights in his future and is 70 million in back taxes and you pactards talk all this crap about 09 and how he will be back but when? “Nobody knows the real reason Floyd does not want to work with Arum.”
Peej, I wouldn’t be surprised if it has more to do with Al Haymon than with Floyd. After all, Haymon is also Floyd’s “advisor.”Posted March 20, 2014 12:30 pm
Nobody knows the real reason Floyd does not want to work with Arum. I am sure it has things to do when he was signed with Top Rank and the circus that happened with the Pac vs Floyd negotiations. One thing I do know is that Arum came out and said Floyd does not dictate when Pac fights, he says the fight has to be 50/50, said there needed to be a stadium built, HBO has to be apart of the fight and apparently they have to determine which company does the drug testing. So there are major reasons why the fight will never be made. And lots of them reside with Arum. And if history tells us anything it is the simple fact that Arum can’t get his fighters on board with the random testing. Just ask Bradley as he has had to jump through hoops twice with the drug testing just to make the fight happen after being promised and noted in contracts about the drug testing policy.Posted March 20, 2014 12:25 pm
Ah yes Lara got a world title that he did not earn in the ring. He was just give that belt. I would like to see the fight made just so Canelo can show everyone that Lara is not what people think he is. The fight will be made now that he has that paper title that way they can unify those 2 belts. Lara will get beat by Canelo and possibly KOd.Posted March 20, 2014 12:18 pm

Good to hear from you, Murderman!!
The beautiful thing about the sweet science and all of its political glory is that it’s not absolute. Trainers and fighters will often disagree about everything under the sun when it comes to boxing. LOL
Murderman, I guarantee you that if Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Richard Schaefer drew up a contract that had Floyd and Manny’s name printed on it, the Filipino icon would have seriously considered it.
But just like Bradley stated as to why he resigned with Top Rank as well…he wasn’t guaranteed any offers from either Mayweather Promotions or Golden Boy Promotions…the only opportunities he was guaranteed was from Bob Arum.
Just because I know Mayweather is the only person standing in the way of this fight, doesn’t mean that I think he’s afraid or doesn’t eventually want to face Manny in the future.
To be honest with you, Mayweather Sr. has told me that he believes that Floyd could possibly be saving the fight with Manny as his swan song.Posted March 20, 2014 9:27 am

The only Al Haymon fighter who is a legitimate boxing draw is Floyd…why do you think Al is trying like heck to sign as many fighters as he can while he has the “Floyd” leverage?
Schaefer is allowing Al to jam every single one of his fighters down everyone’s throats and eat up every single tv date, even though they can’t sell tickets and aren’t signed with Golden Boy.

Anonymous my friend, I had to do a lot of saving up for airfare, hotel accommodations, and tickets a little over $1400. I will be wearing full Manny Pacquioa attire with Manny signed cross fit shoes. Trust me, you won’t miss me if you look hard enough. Hopefully Pacquiao will let me be a part of their extensive entourage. This fight will do huge PPV numbers easily surpassing Canelo’s and Mayweather’s fights even if Mayweather uses his under card fights as the sell. Las Vegas is jumping already. There’s excitement in the air and we’re just a little over 3 weeks away. Los Angeles seems to have grown by the thousands as Manny Pacquiao fans have swarmed the streets. That earthquake that happened yesterday was most likely due to Manny’s fans running to catch up with the king of boxing. The man not only changes the world, but can move it. The sport of boxing comes alive every so often when a special fighter makes his entrance. In this case as it’s been for the last 10-12 years, Manny Pacquiao is bringing back the pure, refreshing, excitement of a championship boxing match. Let me remind many of you that Mayweather’s fights have people leaving and booing. Canelo’s fans boo and throw beers at him. Now, when fans attend Manny Pacquiao fights, the cheers and smiles lighten the arena up because all the fans teeth are sparkling white. Trust me, this fight will break the current loudest indoor noise record to date. Forget the Seattle Seahawks outdoor record, this is Manny Mania. The day to day update on Manny’s training and sparring is quite scary. Manny is hurting these guys. Sparring partners are coming by the dozen on a weekly basis. The media has surrounded the Famous Wild Card Gym as if it were the White House. We are witnessing history as I write this post. Manny Pacquiao is boxing’s only 8 division boxing Mega Star, and there’s no one that can match him for popularity and excitement. He is regarded by most as the greatest fighter of all time. He has beaten everyone. Today’s current, past, and future great champions admire and respect Manny Pacquiao. This is a living legend that has graced us with his phenomenal boxing abilities. Manny Pacquiao is not only the Fighter of The decade, but he will be Fighter of the Millennium once he beats Bradley, destroys Ped Man Marquez and badly beats up on Floyd if he dare step in the ring with the greatest fighter of our time and of all time. No one beats Manny Pacquiao when he’s motivated and focused. No one. Trust me on this, Manny is a machine on a mission and he will not be denied. Manny is the best!.

The Floyd fight was signed when Canelo was only 22… He was green all right… He still is because he has so few amateur fights.
Canelo won’t reach his peak year for maybe another 7 years … Floyd’s calculation was that Canelo didn’t have a finished jab.. finished defense.. and that over all he just lacked polish..
Lara is very polished because of his massive amateur background and all his sparring with the Charlo Bros over the last couple years… That finally brought him way up to where he was versus Trout … he’s about ready for Floyd.
I don’t think Floyd is ready for Lara… Doesn’t sound like it.Posted March 19, 2014 3:07 pm
Canelo had 40 something fights and you say he is green? Please. If you have a title then you are a titlest and you have to defend that title. People on here complaining that he hasn’t unified the division but when he is taking on another titlest then there is an issue with that titlest. He took on Canelo who was the champ, not a titlest but a champ and you got excuses. It is just that Floyd is held to a higher double standard than any other boxer.Posted March 19, 2014 1:40 pm

If Maidana has any chance at all, he needs to go for broke and jump on Mayweather right away. Mayweather is the most vulnerable in the early rounds. Once he gets into mechanical rhythm, Floyd is nearly unstoppable. Maidana does have fight-changing power, but Mayweather has a way of neutralizing your best weapon. I see Mayweather frustrating Maidana in the later rounds, and I hope Maidana does not resort to dirty tactics as he done in the past.Posted March 19, 2014 10:47 am

Floyd will use the hit and run tactic like he did with Hatton! Maidana is slower and will get tired of chasing Floyd around. Floyd is a smart gifted boxer. The only way you can beat Floyd is by score cards and that is impossible to happen!Posted March 19, 2014 1:54 am
No question Floyd the best right now, he is going to try to keep maidana at the end of the jab most of the time. For safety, and he he mix in his jab and left hook, or straight right as he switch getting out of a corner or lead with it when maidana get close. F
Maidana has lobbing punches he can change the punch in flight a little low or back. He will catch Floyd going back and down that Floyd habit , hatten was throwing this lobbing punch and was clubbing Floyd. But he ended up too predictable and ate a right lead coming in.

LOl…obviously that wasn’t me who posted this earlier!!
Moderators…where are you? LOLPosted March 18, 2014 11:20 pm
Jessie Leiga was and still is a class act. Broner is no Mayweather and I’m not sure Maidana is going to be able to catch Mayweather. Floyd has supernatural reflexes and will pop left, left, left, right, then he will time a straight right hand and that will be all she wrote. Can lightening strike? I’m sure it can but I doubt it.Posted March 18, 2014 10:51 pm
Floyd will win because he is the master of shoulder rolling defense.Posted March 18, 2014 10:09 pm
Broker vs Mayweather, If Mayweather vs Broner fight does happen it will become shoulder rolling contestPosted March 18, 2014 10:04 pm
