“How come guys like Lou Dibella, Dan Goosen and Gary Shaw have never been as powerful as Haymon, Shaefer, Arum, and Don king in his hey day”
It’s all about who you know. Haymon is tight with Stephen Espinoza, President of Showtime, Richard Schaefer CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, and Floyd Mayweather Jr. who of course owns Mayweather Promotions. When you have connections like that, you have access to power and the ability to build your own. Also, Haymon is an astute strategist and businessman, as is Schaefer, and yes, even Floyd. If these three brains ever come together to form one entity, You’ll be looking at a real powerhouse in the boxing world.Posted March 22, 2014 1:05 pm

The guy you think is Al is actually Sam Watson. Al is a tall slim balding guy. He got Floyd out of his bad deal with James Prince. And if you think Floyd is making money, Al is making so much hidden money that Floyd would be jealous if he knew.Posted March 19, 2014 11:02 pm

Haymon is a crook, but a genius crook. Saying he’s not a promoter. No he’s an “advisor”. Sure he is. Smart as hell though. Avoiding taxes and costs of running a business by not having offices anywhere. Hell he doesn’t even have a website that I can find! How many fighters “SIGN” with an “ADVISOR”??? Yeah… exactly. Only the ones who’ve signed with Al Haymon. I’m just surprised that the big promotional companies haven’t tried to sell their offices and follow suit. I wouldn’t be surprised if Richard Schaefer is the next “ADVISOR” to emerge as it seems like he is going to part ways with Golden Boy.Posted March 19, 2014 10:37 pm
This article is spot on in terms of its overall message, but it only scratches the surface. It’s almost like author is either very young or had a deadline and didn’t leave himself enough to write it. Al Haymon is definitely the new Don King.Posted March 19, 2014 8:00 pm
Can’t Believe – I’d say about 75% of boxing fans make that mistake.Posted March 19, 2014 7:50 pm
im convinced that at least 25 percent of boxing fans confuse sam watson for al haymon.Posted March 19, 2014 6:55 pm
There was a report at a Hip Hop news site that Al Haymon has been having liasons with a transvestite prostitute at hotels in Vegas and LA for years. The tranny was quoted directly. So apparently he knows how to spend his winningsPosted March 19, 2014 4:22 pm
“I wonder which fighter will sign next.” This writer sounds like a 12-year-old trying to meet a minimum page requirement.Posted March 19, 2014 12:18 pm

“I’d like to thank Al Haymon”.
Seriously, what kind of egocentric douche demands his fighters say this after every fight and then acts like he don’t want publicity?
I’m not fond of the guy but boxing needs villains, I remember when Paul Williams got knocked spark out, Hymen’s face was priceless!Posted March 19, 2014 12:09 am

“sredmond is gone. we should create an east side holiday in celebration of sredmonds long time dissapearence! must have gotten kicked out of his low income housing…” – Bears, SRedmond showed up last week under his second screen name Supreme Court. He’s been laying low in general since he exposed himself as a douche who posts under multiple screen names though. Dork forgot to change his handle and was caught having a convo with himself. LOL.Posted March 18, 2014 8:31 pm
Hmm, Haymon is a smart business-man, but I can’t help but think he’s making a mistake with all of this rapid growth and I think fighters signing with him will be left wanting.
From what little knowledge is available about the guy, he seems to be everything wrapped into one. He’s not a team… he’s the mastermind as well as the guy that gets his hands dirty behind the scenes.
Given that there are only 24hrs in a day, I question Haymon’s ability to continue to perform at his usual level with a growing stable, especially when that stable includes a huge name like Mayweather who would likely already chew up a lot of time.
So either, new, smaller name fighters are going to be neglected whilst big-name fighters are being served, or Haymon will have to bring in help… but can he hire someone with the same sort of business savvy and intelligence that he has? And even then, is he the kind of person that would trust having someone working autonomously under the Haymon name?Posted March 18, 2014 7:32 pm
Al Haymon is the brain power of the team Mayweather. If there’s no Al Haymon, Mayweather would have faced Manny Pacquaio, and Mayweather would have been in the sewer.
As Haymon said, “Floyd, I will pick only those opponents I know you will surely win. I will never let you fight Manny Pacquiao. Never.”Posted March 18, 2014 7:20 pm
al haymon is the guy that are good for boxers that need high money/low risk fights or they want to duck another fighter.(stevenson) haymon has the floyd thing going on, like floyd jr said: it’s not about the best fighting the best…

haymon holds all the cards and sets up the winners and losers. why do you think he signed paulie? because paulie was telling the world about the conflicts of interest. now he has to shut up. look at broners scam. look at garcia’s last robbery. look at wilder fight. look at floyd not having to fight pacPosted March 18, 2014 3:12 pm
I don’t know much about Al Haymon to offer up an opinion on the man. What I do know is that he is he biggest name in boxing that doesn’t fight. He has built a huge stable of fighters in different weight classes. My question to fellow boxing fans is. At what point does this become a conflict of interest when you have fighters in the same weight class? You can’t push one fighter over another for the ultimate goal of becoming champion. HBO and Showtime have their boxers and as I call them company champions that they push on their network. Should certain fighters be locked on one network only? Shouldn’t fights go to the highest bidder? Sad that certain fights can’t happen because fighters belong to networks or promoters. Help me out, educate me on these dealings, I’d like to know.Posted March 18, 2014 3:07 pm
