Gonzo the Dragonborn

What on earth are you babbling about you emaciated intellectual pauper? I’ve already explained the reason why I mentioned Ward and B-hop. I’m not just criticizing them because they’re filthy dirty.. It’s the hypocrisy of fighters like them which separates them from many other ”dirty” fighters rule benders. They’re unquestionably two of the dirtiest fighters in the entire sport, AND, crucially (ie. the fundamental part your egg-sized bollock sieve brain is having so much difficulty trying to grasp), they’re also the first to cry and complain whenever as they are, or as is often the case with B-hop, are not on the receiving end of their own medicine, no matter how minor, trivial or non-existent the infringements against them might have been, which is doubly hilarious given how dirty they both are.

ROFL at you putting Wlad in the same bracket of dirty as them. Sure he holds and leans on his opponents a lot, but other than the Povetkin fight, he’s not a dirty fighter per say like they are

You might have somewhat of a point if A. Wlad was as dirty as either of those cretins. B. If he was a giant hypocrite who cried and complained about other fighters using similar illegal tactics that he employs against him, or C. If I was was actually a fan of his and actually defended his excessive holding and leaning. ROFL.

And I don’t just rag on Ward because he’s dirty you inept fish-brained weasel.. There’s a multitude of reasons why I’m on his case, all of which I have explained in depth on countless occasions in the past. One of which is the gross hypocrisy of him crying about dirty tactics. ROFL. Funny how butt-hurt little fanboy you don’t seem to have a problem with his gross hypocrisy but are trying so hard to find flaws and expose me for being a hypocrite and accusing me of ”lacking character” whilst you’ve been stalking me under numerous yet easily identifiable alts? Strange that, eh? ROFL.

Hidalg0 agreed, if Wilder’s hook made Scott quit then fair play. If it was a glancing blow and he took a dive, not fair play. I rewatched it a half dozen times and still can’t see conclusively which it is. In any case it’s Wilder’s first win over a top 20 guy so we’ll see who he fights going forward. As of now I’ll say he’s looking up.

Posted March 18, 2014 3:38 pm

I don’t understand people saying that Scott was not warmed up? He spent 90 seconds running round the ring, like he was auditioning for Dancing With The Stars.
Heck, the reason he couldn’t get up after that long hook was because he was knackered from all the running he did!!!

Posted March 18, 2014 12:07 pm

“The other scenario is the hook was a glancing blow and Scott took a dive straight up.”

F.A., if you watch the slo-mo of Chisora’s knockdown of Scott, you’ll see that Chisora’s right looks like it glanced off the top of Malik’s head. Wilder caught Scott with a left hook right on his right temple. Apparently Scott has a glass head if he’s hit high enough upon it.

Still, what a BS effort by Scott. He didn’t do a damn thing to Wilder before he got KOd. Nothing.

“Well… Neither Glazkov or Chisora had Scott thinking that way in the 2nd minute of the fight. He withstood Glazkov’s weapons one Hell of a lot better than Wilder’s.” – Yes, if that’s what happened then it;’s somewhat impressive that Wilder’s power gave Scott second thoughts about fighting. The other scenario is the hook was a glancing blow and Scott took a dive straight up. It’s one of those two scenarios, I’m not sure which.

“It was the left hook directly on the temple. The quick right hand followed directly behind it and helped a little” – yes I saw the hook but the right hit Scott’s gloves and I don’t believe his legs were gone. I do believe he didn’t like how that hook felt and decided to stay down. It wasn’t a devastating blow but it was a good short hook. So he said “screw that I’m out.”

Fraudfloyd won against Marquez because he cheated him in weight then paid Marquez with $600,000.00. Actually it was a fixed fight for fraud because he’s fraud.

He’s not an absorber.

Posted March 17, 2014 4:34 pm

Fight Aficionado.., “After watching the replay of Wilder-Scott a half dozen times I still can’t see the devastating punch.”

It was the left hook directly on the temple. The quick right hand followed directly behind it and helped a little, but it’s not the shot that took away Malik’s legs for 10 seconds.

Both guys trained very hard for the fight… You won’t do that if you’re going to dump the fight before you even throw a punch. You also don’t dump a fight that gets you to a title shot … Malik is completely devastated and he should be.

He’s been bragging for years that he’s the best HW boxer on Earth … and he couldn’t get a shot off before he got crushed.

After watching the replay of Wilder-Scott a half dozen times I still can’t see the devastating punch that kept Scott down. Dude took a dive. We switched to Adamek-Glazkov after instead of Garcia fight. Glad we did, it was a good honest heavyweight rumble. Let’s hope next time Wilder’s matched against a top 20 guy who is out to win instead of cash checks for doing nothing.

Disappointing weekend of boxing for me. I wanted to see Garcia shine, and Wilder score an impressive KO, WITHOUT controversy. I still stand-by what I said, DW is the future of the HWs. We have not seen power like his, since…. Tyson’s prime maybe? That and WK’s left hook or straight right. Stiverne will beat CA, and then DW will KO Stiverne in under 4.

Danny Garcia got schooled and exposed. Khan should have fought him again, it would have been an easy win for Khan the second time around.

I saw Danny missed 90% of him power shots. Herrera is an excellent boxer he kept popping the jab in Danny’s face all night long.

The blood was running from Danny’s nose like a faucet.

Herrera definitely won the fight. He made Danny look like a fool.

I agree with you Anonymous. Tark does seem to have conveniently forgotten how he sold Garcia, Lara and Pacquiao as the three men Mayweather was ducking and running scared from. How about Garcia rematches Matthysse?

Obviously TARK didn’t see his boy Danny Saturday night. LMFAO

Posted March 17, 2014 4:58 am

Floyd said, “Do you want me to fight Khan or Maidana?”

He didn’t say, “Should I fight Danny Garcia?

Danny is not a complete fighter like Mikey. His jab isn’t fully developed. I don’t think you outjab Mayweather anyway. What Danny has is great timing. His straight right is quick… his left hook is quicker… his chin is solid… he can throw a right hook as well… He can outstrength you inside… his handspeed is underrated… his balance, leverage, and power are excellent… He’s very patient, very intense, and if you make a mistake you’re on the canvas against him… Danny was the underdog vs Khan and Matthysse … and he delivered.

He’s one of the guys Floyd is very wary of because you can’t intimidate Danny. He knows Floyd can be hit. He saw Floyd’s fights with De La Hoya and Cotto..

Like Buster Douglas said when a reporter asked him about being a 42:1 underdog, “Come on man…that’s stupid. Whoever figured that didn’t watch Tyson against Tucker. Mike is wide open … After 5 rounds I’ll be the favorite.”

How in the hell does he walk away from a fight with Floyd over a blood test he agreed to it but not 4 days before the fight. Poor ass clowns who think Manny is so great and he goes on to get KTFO by Marquez a guy that Floyd totally dominated. Floyd is scared on a guy who last credible win was against a dehydrated Cotto in 09. Manny hast dominated in 5 years poor nutt huggers. Bradley is going to tap that ass and if Manny does win or KO Bradley he will be juiced up. Arum loves to manipulate the testing to when his blood can be drawn shady bastards cannot win without cheating and if he is clean prove it.

I muted the sound because I thought the commentator was only seeing one boxer there& that’s Garcia. Before I heard Mr. Bunce & his team made a comment after the fight, I thought Herrera won the fight and he was robbed. I cannot say enough how right the BoxNation team are. EZ E: Yes, I agree that a rematch is highly unlikely. I forgot DG said that about the weight issue in the post-fight interview, so will interesting to see if he moves up to 147lbs. Styles definitely make fights and Herrera has one of those awkward, slippery styles, with that jab to the body, that gives top guys fits in the ring. Plus he’s hard to hit cleanly and has a great chin. That being said, he lacks KO power and is not highly marketable.

There’s nothing wrong with it, but can lead to bitter rivalries, bigotry, racism and even hatred. I’d like to see a rematch, but highly doubt it will happen.

Posted March 16, 2014 6:38 pm

This was an important fight for Danny… It shows you how important the jab is… You can have every other punch, and if your jab isn’t finished you’re going to suck against a great jab artist.

The difference in Herrera’s jab and Khan’s jab is feinting, smoothness, and timing. Herrera lacks power but has a really good stance. He destroys your rhythm with his feints and catches you coming in or moving back. What he lacks in strength and pop he makes up for in timing.

Danny has great timing on his counter shots… but he never had a jab. You would think Bernard Hopkins could teach him how to jab.

Danny’s stance is messed up. His torso, left shoulder, left foot, and his head are wrong. He’s looking to slip inside and hook. He should watch Mikey, Kovalev, Haye, Floyd, and Wladimir… WK had a power jab until about 5 years after he started working with Steward..

It took that long because it’s extremely hard to break bad habits — because they were good enough to get you to where you’re at… Right?

Posted March 16, 2014 5:34 pm

Ali held and clinched a lot, for all his greatness, and Lewis draped himself all over sm!ller opponents and could be a dirty fighter too. B Hop fouls a lot. Wlad holds, grabs. and falls all over the other fighter too much and the ref should stop it.

Posted March 16, 2014 5:26 pm

Wlad literal holds and punches whilst bringing his weight to bear on his opponent which is a clear infringement but hardly ever gets a point deducted. A fight is what it is gets dirty and when it does it’s up to the referee to get on top of things but some fans criticise other fighters while their favourite fighter does the same. Hopkins is dirty, Ward to some extent but so is Wlad and a host of all others.

Sure, Wlad does hold/clinch a little more than I’d like to see at times, but so did Lennox Lewis and several others. And if holding/clinching was totally illegal like low blows and headbutts, it would result in regular point deductions and DQs. In that case, Ali would’ve lost a heck of a lot more than 5-7 fights because he did it constantly. Holding/clinching is generally tolerated until it becomes excessive or illegal (i.e., using overhooks/underhooks to tie up arms, pushing down on back of the head and neck, etc.)

I haven’t drawn up a list of dirty fighters you utter imbecile. That was the whole crux of my point you wretched spunk-splattered vegetable-brained gimp. If you live by the sword, you die by the sword. Comprende? Angel Garcia shouldn’t be crying about Herrera’s ”dirty tactics” after his lego-haired son, under B-hop’s instruction, pulled against Matthysse, and neither B-hop or Ward should ever cry or complain about anyone else using dirty tactics given that they’re unquestionably two of the dirtiest fighters in the sport. Wlad holds a lot, but he ain’t B-hop or Ward dirty, and crucially, he doesn’t end up rolling around on the floor in fits of histrionics like a big baby and pretend he’s been fouled like B-hop and we don’t see him kicking up a big song and dance about fighters using the same dirty tactics as he does against him like Ward did about Bika’s heabutting and use of the elbow.

KL: You might be right about BoxNation. I’m nearly as familiar with them as I am with the Showtime and HBO analysts/commentators. But my point was that, I don’t think it was just a coincidence that all the professionals on both the Showtime and BoxNation teams scored the fight in favor of Herrera. Could be that BoxNation has made some poor judgements in the past, but the consensus throughout the boxing world is that they got it right last night.

Bottom line about Wilder-Scott:

Scott took a dive. Some of Tyson’s opponents (e.g. Bruce Seldon and Clifford Etienne) did the same. Whether they were paid to do it, or just took the money but had no intention of taking any punches, I don’t know, but it’s theft either way.

Both fighters should have their purses withheld and there should be an official inquiry. If you watch Wilder, you’ll see that he doesn’t even look back to check if Scott makes it back onto his feet. Given that they are friends, it seems to me that they were both in on it (i.e. it was fixed).

I very strongly suspect that e.g. Haye-Harrison was fixed too (on the replay you can even see Haye nodding to Audley and saying “now” before he lands the shots which finished it), but I suppose at least you can say Harrison took a few hard punches. Scott didn’t even do that.

But however it’s done, it’s absolutely corrupt and it should be criminal investigations into these things, just like when there’s match fixing in football. They are stealing ordinary boxing fans’ money and making a fortune for themselves (can’t remember how much Haye and Harrison both walked away with, but it was into the millions of pounds).

Absolutely disgraceful.

His use of dirty tactics in that fight was disgraceful, all of which he had clearly been instructed to do so by that cheating puddle of dog’s vomit B-hop beforehand. The only reason he got the win against Lucas is because of his repeated fouling and cheating and because Haymon’s bought ref allowed him to get away with blue murder all night. This was a rough fight for Danny. To be honest, this should not be of much surprise to true boxing fans. I am no professional judge but I feel the fight could have gone either way. I also felt the Showtime announcers were a bit too once sided for Herrera (in my humble opinion).

Hats off to Herrera, I’m a fan. I like the manner in which he took the fight to Danny and did no whining/complaining after the loss. Very professional, and from a hardcore Boricua Boxing fan I wish you the best!

“Since you wanna bring Floyd up, no he does not win with feather fisted jabs. If he has pillows for punches then why don’t one of you 2 idiots explain why someone doesn’t just walk him down?”

Easy answer! Because FMJ always puts on his track shoes and runs around the ring, so that nobody can walk him down. When an opponent gets close enough, he pushes their faces with his forearms/elbows or ties their arms up with illegal overhooks and underhooks (which are grappling/MMA moves). Floyd’s style is basically landing one jab at time then jumping on his bicycle. Occasionally, he throws that lead right, but it’s still one punch and move for the most part. It’s the boxing equivalent of a game of tag or a drive by shooting.
I appreciate boxers who stand in the pocket, throw combinations and exchange. Not hit and run, hit and run, hit and run.

I recall about a year ago watching a 12 round decision bout (Can’t recall exactly which one) but after watching the bout the Box Nation were calling the winner before the official scores were announced……..and my first reaction was whether the Box Nation team had been watching the same bout that I had.
As it turns out the decision went to the boxer I that I had thought won the bout, and NOT the boxer that Box Nation had thought won.
Even “experts” payed to give there “expert” analysis can get it wrong, and Box Nation is NO exception……and let’s not forget Bunce actually thought Fraudley was world championship material on the cusp of beating the Kiltchkos when Fraudley was fighting on the BBC!

Garcia looks marked up after every fight. If I think Herrera had some marks on his face. As a matter of fact he was cut underneath his left eye. Not like Garcia was all swollen. He had some leather burn from the jabs Herrera was landing. I bet Herrera sore as heck in his body. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was bruised up and had whelps today. Heck if you wanna go by looks then Morales would of lost every fight cause he always looked the worse.

Needless to say, there’ll a lot of fight teams avoiding Herrera.

Nope I don’t think I am better at judging fights than professional analysts/commentators on both Showtime and BoxNation but those same analysts on showtime clearly said the rounds where very close and hard to score. So that tells me that this fight could of gone either way depending on how you where looking at it. I saw Garcia landing many power punches and I saw Herrera landing many jabs. I go back to the who would I rather be at the end of the round, I would of rather been the person eating jabs than eating power punches.

Posted March 16, 2014 12:17 pm

Im not saying it is not subjective. I just don’t think that Garcia lost the fight. I am not saying he won every round it was a close fight. But I thought Garcia won the fight based on the power punches he was landing.

Peej, scoring fights is very subjective. There were a lot of close rounds. While I saw Herrera as the clear cut winner, there was no way Danny wasn’t leaving that fight with a loss unless he was knocked out or at least knocked down a few times.

Posted March 16, 2014 11:51 am

I am being perfectly honest with myself. And truth be told, Herrera was only landing mainly jabs. Yes he landed some power shots but he wasn’t landing enough of them. He was mainly throwing jabs. That won’t win you a fight when the other guy is throwing and landing power punches.

Posted March 16, 2014 11:49 am

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

Clearly, you’re not capable of being honest with yourself or anyone else for that matter. MH landed a lot more than “just jabs” and you know it. You don’t have any problem when FMJ wins fights with mostly jabs and very few power punches, so why the double standard?

The reason why DG’s “power shots” didn’t hardly do any damage is because most of them didn’t land cleanly or were at least partially blocked. That’s the truth of what really went down in that fight. Otherwise, MW would’ve been busted-up worse than Garcia. Real talk.

It’s a fact that when a fighter goes to Puerto Rico he is going to lose on the score cards to the Puerto Rican fighter ,,remember Rocky Lockridge beating the heck out of Wifredo Gomez ,only to lose a decision . and Orlando Salido was losing on the judges score cards when he was almost killing Juan Manuel Lopez in both fights ,, they had Lopez ahead .

Posted March 16, 2014 11:41 am

What is also funny is nobody is saying is that all the commentators where saying every round was tough to judge. Yet people on here claim since Garcia got the nod then it was a bad decision. Not sure how can that can be when they where saying the rounds where very difficult to score.

Posted March 16, 2014 11:37 am

How many times have you seen Herrera wobbled hurt or stopped? And like I said he was landing his right and hooks to the body. He wasn’t landing his power hook to the body, the same punch that he has KOd many other fighters. So your argument is lame. You can’t knock or hurt everybody in boxing. Yes the jab is the one of the most important punches in boxing. But it is because it is a distance finder and can off set your opponent which he was doing a lot to Garcia. But that can’t be the only punch you are landing and through out the fight that was the only punch he was landing.

Posted March 16, 2014 11:35 am

I don’t think it was the worst decision we’ve seen all year but I do think it was wrong. Peej stands by how he saw it and I respect that. Boxing is subject to interpretation to some degree. Herrera landed a lot more than just jabs. But let’s not forget that the jab is the single most important weapon in boxing.
You can talk about power shots all you want, but if DG was landing so many power shots, how come he couldn’t wobble, hurt or knock down MH? And how come he wasn’t able to do much damage to his face with all those so-called power shots??? (After all, everyone knows that DG’s face was a lot more busted-up and bloodied than MH’s face.) Answer that question, PEEJ. And this time, try a little honesty.

Posted March 16, 2014 11:29 am

Well fortunately for me I do not go by punch stats. It gets annoying when people try to use this as justification as to who won a fight. I saw Garcia landing plenty of rights to the head which caused a cut on Herrera and a lot of body punches.

Posted March 16, 2014 11:25 am

Well like i said I still feel Garcia was landing power punches. If you don’t feel that I can’t really change your mind. Just going by what I saw.

Posted March 16, 2014 11:24 am

“Even you take away the “power punches” Garcia lost all other areas of judging. Ring generalship: Herrera, effective punching: Herrera, clean punching: Herrera and defense Herrera also.”

Unknowledgeable boxing fans rely on appearances or punch stats to justify winners and losers. But as you said, Wearerofallthebelts, Herrera showed the best ring generalship, effective aggression, and clean punching. Garcia got credit for a lot of “power punches” that did not land cleanly, but because Danny always throws with such power and flamboyance, he looked like he was landing more effectively than he truly did.

Danny knows he got hit a lot. A lot more than he expected and a lot more than he should have. Danny showed the same weaknesses against Judah and Herrera. His potential opponents should start on their homework early.

Posted March 16, 2014 11:22 am

I felt Garcia started holding after around the 9th round. I can understand the fighter being held still throwing punches but I don’t like when I fighter is clearly holding the other fighter and still throwing punches. That bothers me when there is no warning for that. Molina does that also and it is terrible.

EZ E: With all due respect, some people are much better at scoring fights than others. And it sounds like you and your wife are better at it than a couple of your guests. If you’re Puertorriqueno, I would imagine that most people at your home were pulling for Garcia. Nothing wrong with that, but some people simply don’t have the ability to score objectively — especially when they’re big fans of a fighter.

Every single analyst/commentator on both Showtime (including Paulie M) and BoxNation had Herrera ahead on the cards. And those guys are pros who get paid a lot of money to call, analyze and score fights. ?En que ciudad vives, mano? Me imagino algun lugar de la costa este.

Danny got hit in the face. A lot. At the end of the fight, his face told much of the story of the battle. Mauricio outboxed Danny but Danny won the fight. Not by a four-round advantage however.

Posted March 16, 2014 11:10 am

“Then he would punch while holding but yet got no warning for it.”

Punching while holding is not prohibited by the WBA or the WBC. Also, it may be legal to do so in Puerto Rico. Rules vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Danny also held and hit although not as much as Herrera did. But if you’re going to call Herrera out for doing that, you have to be fair and call Danny out for all the low blows he threw and got away with.

Not sure where you get defense for Herrera. They where both getting hit. The only punches Garcia was missing was the left hook to the head. He was landing that punch to the body, his right hand was landing to the head. Yes Herrera was coming forward but once again he was only landing jabs. You can’t win a fight only landing jabs while the other fighter is connecting with power punches.

I won’t argue if you took Herreras work rate over Garcias, he actually looked like he was attempting to throw power punches as apposed to what Paulie was doing against Broner where he was just throwing arm punches. But I couldn’t score it for Herrera. My girl, who hates boxing was saying why is Herrera fighting dirty because he kept holding. Which was annoying me also. Then he would punch while holding but yet got no warning for it. But like I said I will stick to the mass amount of power punches that landed and feel Garcia won.

Posted March 16, 2014 10:37 am

Garcia was NOT landing power punches. The compubox numbers were as fluffed and inaccurate as the decision itself. In fact most of his so-called power punches missed wildly. Don’t forget compubox is nothing more than spectators punching buttons based their own interpretation. This is the very thing that ruined armature boxing. Compubox is worthless. Herrerawon that fight by walking down Garcia and landing jabs at will and simply out working Garcia. If Garcia was really winning why was his father boiling over in the corner begging him to “wake up and do something”. Terrible decision. As far as Wilder goes that too was a travesty. Two very good friends orchestrating a nice payday for themselves. The real fight was Juanma vs Ponce De Leon which was not aired thanks to the wisdom of Showtime. The entire night was a fail.

But you do care what the majority of fans say because we’ve seen you cite the general consensus of fans and sports writers before to reinforce your argument regarding controversial decisions that have gone for or against fighters you like. You could at least try and be consistent PEEJ.

Power punches are not one of the four criteria for judges to score a professional fight. For those that don’t know here they are.

Clean Punching
Effective Aggressiveness
Ring Generalship

when you break it down according to fanbase and promotional interests, the fight-card scenarios become obvious. greatness is when a set-up fighter is able to derail everyone’s plans on his own behalf . . . while God chuckles in the background.

I like Danny Garcia , he’ll rule for quite sometime … However watching the fights last night, Wilder’s fight was fixed we all know it… They’re close friends and the 2 punch combo that was suppose to do the damage had no power, Scott should win an Emmy for his performance, a great actor, lousy fighter, and Wilder should continue to fight bums, i hear his next opponent is no other than James Toney ??? and after that he’ll fight Antonio Tarver…. PEACE…… “The Language of the Ring”

Q-Vo EZ. IMO, nobody’s surprised that Herrera didn’t win on the scorecards. that was never gonna happen under the circumstances. boxing is eager to recapture a drifting PR fanbase and Garcia is their ticket. the only way Herrera could’ve derailed those plans is the only way that Salido did: by KO. Herrera was the perfect set-up for this scenario: competitive but not lethal. however, it appears they overestimated Garcia’s ability to demonstrate breakaway talent(?). i didn’t watch so i’ll have to catch the replay sometime this week. i was eager to watch Ponce KTFO of Lopez. Wtf happened?!? . . . Alrato y Paz to EZ E.

Posted March 16, 2014 10:26 am

For those of you who think Scott was genuinely too badly hurt to get up, I’m just curious: would you say the same about Seldon against Tyson, and Etienne against Tyson?

Posted March 16, 2014 10:24 am

EZ E – until boxing becomes a unified sport with one commissioner and no promoters these things are going to happen. Every State or Promoting body has been guilty of poor decisions, some more than others. Sad to say but Texas is one of the worst, Whitaker beat Chavez, Mallinagi beat Diaz, Trout had a draw with Alvarez and those are just a few off the top of my head. Boxing long over due for an overhaul to stop the corruption. Garcia/Herrera is not the worst decision ever made but it was a poor one. If not a Herrera win he at least earned himself a draw.

Posted March 16, 2014 10:20 am

I could really care less what the majority of people say. What I watched last night was one guy constantly holding, and throwing jabs. I am not saying he wasn’t successful with it but he was getting hit with a lot of power punches. And like I said you can’t beat a fighter if you are only throwing jabs but yet you are getting hit by power punches. I saw Garcia landing a lot of power punches. I saw Herrera landing a lot of jabs.

Posted March 16, 2014 10:17 am

PEEJ, the overwhelming majority of boxing fans think Garcia got a gift. Hell, even many Ricans and Garcia fans are coming out and saying the same.

Posted March 16, 2014 10:08 am

Can’t win a fight with jabs if the other fighter is landing power punches. That is what was happening. It would be one thing if Herrera was not getting hit with those power punches but that wasn’t the case. Herrera clearly lost this fight.

Posted March 16, 2014 10:03 am

Poll on the General is 185-30 in favour of a Herrera win.

Posted March 16, 2014 10:02 am

Huerrera clearly won the 12th round , which means he had won only 3 roundson the judges scorecards at the end of the 11th round?. Garcia CLEARLY lost this fight. Huerra was not about to leave PR with a win. Even if he scored a KO they would have found some reason to take win away.

Floyd’s issue

Garcia is average; Scott took definitely a dive, didn’t want to get up, that tangling up in the ropes deserves him an Oscar; no dynamite in Wilder, he will be soon exposed…

Posted March 16, 2014 9:55 am

Garcia won last night. Should be no doubt. You can’t win a fight off a jab if the other fighter is landing power punches. Herrera was jabbing and holding while Garcia was landing power punches. As for Wilder, he must have some serious heat coming behind those punches. Scott definitely didn’t take a dive. He couldn’t get up. Hard to act like that if he was taking a dive. If so he deserves an Oscar. Still need Jacobs to step it up at some point. Was not expecting that from Juan Ma

Posted March 16, 2014 9:41 am

boxing barlow

I’m no Wilder fan and am a Brit so have no preference towards Wilder but that was no dive by Scott. I watched Scott against Chisora and he’s no wimp. Wilder has dynamite in his firsts and such KO power that even when he does not hit you cleanly he makes a serious dent. His power reminds me a lot of David Prices’, only maybe Wilder has a better chin than Price.

Posted March 16, 2014 9:35 am

Wilder dazzles, my arse! Scott, like Seldon and Etienne against Tyson, wasn’t even a good actor.

Posted March 16, 2014 9:35 am

The Mad Scientist

Ponce vs Juanma best fight of the night..the heavyweight bout was crap..hopefully Swift learned a valuable lesson from the teacher as he moves on..maybe Herrera will get another opportunity since he actually won in losing with his unexpected performance..

Posted March 16, 2014 9:34 am

Prof Konje

Garcia lost that fight. Herrera outboxed him almost every round. If Garcia fights Mayweather it will be no contest and an easy night for Floyd. Fighting a Puerto Rican fighter in Puerto Rico is a no-win situation and as bad as fighting a German fighter in Germany. Shameless.

Posted March 16, 2014 9:10 am

Shame on those sleeping judges and those who thought “little garcia” won. Boxing is going dead with such glaring cheating fighters who are openly robbed. Garcia’s body language clearly pronounced he lost. Shame on decision makers. Leave this boxing thing.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

If you think Garcia won that fight… you’re either PR, a dedicated DG supporter, need to get your eyes checked, or don’t really know how to score a boxing match. (Or you’re lying because you predicted DG would easily win, and your overblown ego won’t allow to admit when you’re wrong.) Anything Boxtardamus says should never be taken seriously because sadly, he’s developmentally disabled and delusional on top of it. It’s hard not to pity the poor guy.

Scott took a dive for sure.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

Except for the “baby cut” under his left eye, Herrera’s face was unmarked. Garcia’s face, by contrast, was a total busted-up mess and told the real story: that there’s no way that Garcia won that fight. If DG supposedly landed more power punches, then how come he wasn’t able to wobble, hurt or knock down MH — or do more damage to his face???

Wilder dazzled like a bronze plated turd.

Posted March 16, 2014 8:22 am

This card was a hype job. Philly Garcia can’t sell 1500 tickets in Philly so they try and bs puerto Rico into accepting him. Won’t happen. Wilder is a disgrace to boxing. This s what you get with Haymon Espinoza and Swiss banker setting things up. Delahoya is mad about the whole thing.

Malik “Greg Louganis” Scott.

Posted March 16, 2014 8:19 am

Juanma was given a gift of an early stoppage, Deleon was throwing punches as the ref stopped the fight. I’m still looking for the punch Wilder allegedly landed. Danny Garcia learned a valuable lesson last night and was given the benefit of the doubt. I wrote earlier of how no one new who Felix Strum was and thought Oscar De La Hoya would have an easy night. Herrera like Strum before him gave Garcia all he could take and then some. From the get go Garcia looked to be feeling himself too much with a larger than usual entourage to the ring. Herrera simply frustrated Garcia all night popping him with jabs up and down and a sneaky right hand on occasion. Garcia could not get off any of his punches, and when he did let his hands go. Herrera blocked or slipped Danny’s big shots. Angel Garcia knew what was happening as he saw his son losing the fight round after round. Did anyone notice how Angel Garcia didn’t stick around and brag how great his son fought, he knew Danny didn’t win. Even Garcia had a look of concern after the fight. Herrera fought a good fight in the champions adopted home country. If that fight had been in the States I might be writing about the upset that happened. At best Garcia earned a draw last night but showed he is not ready for the likes of Floyd Mayweather.

Posted March 16, 2014 8:15 am

Any of you guys see Rocky Fielding come in 7 pounds over the SM limit for his title fight with Adamu last night in UK? Apparently, he was 3 pounds over and he spoke to EDDIE HEARN his promoter and was told don’t worry about it and sip some water and wedged in 7 above the limit.

flagrant cheating like this is killing the game and will lead to ring tragedies. He was massive in their last night over his rival. cheating is spreading all over the boxing landscape.

so, glad Paul Smith told him to take a running jump as his British mandatory. Smith is chasing ABRAHAM and his WBO belt and will refuse to fight Fielding when he is cheating to win. can’t believe EDDIE HEARN came out with this bs.

Posted March 16, 2014 8:06 am

Juanma pulled a great win out of the bag too. He looked slow and out of shape and was getting outclassed. Yet still managed to win. I hope he retires as he won’t get another big win like this again – he ain’t the same fighter any more. …he’s a boxer though, so more than likely needs the money…unfortunately we may see him KO’d a few more times yet.

Posted March 16, 2014 7:57 am

keep fighting bums.

Posted March 16, 2014 7:50 am

Great win for Wilder! He needs rounds but there ain’t many heavyweights out there that can handle his power. Fury, Adamek, Chisora wud all get flattened. Arreola, Pulev maybe? Wen he fights Wlad it will b a massive jump for him. But how do u bridge the gap?

Posted March 16, 2014 7:46 am

Watch the Wilder-Scott slow motion replay – Scott winks his left eye right before Wiler throws the combination that ‘landed’. Sign of a fix or just a coincidence?

Posted March 16, 2014 7:30 am

Swift fights far too upright, leaving his chin exposed far too often to be a threat to Floyd Mayweather.

Posted March 16, 2014 7:29 am

oh dear scott didn”t last to long. thats wilder and that other useless bum chisora who have taken him out.hope he still has his cab license.

Posted March 16, 2014 7:25 am

wilder needs to step up the competition fast. Meanwhile leapai a guy who lost to johnson gets a title shot, wach a guy who beat no one gets a title shot, pianaeta/mormeck gets a title shot. I’m sorry there is too much hate for what sees to be a very dangerous but untested fighter being wilder. I would pick him over leapai, mormeck, pianetta and scott. I would like to see him against thomspon or browne but he is better than leapai.

I’m No Hata

God, I want to be an overrated entertainer so bad. It beats what I’m currently doing for a job. And if there are haters galore, so be it. I’ll just console myself on my pile of money and beautiful women in my bed. Ahhhhh, the Good Life.

Posted March 16, 2014 6:41 am

I’m No Hata

I wonder if it is hard for an “entertainer” to deal with the hate that comes their way. Maybe the console themselves by laying on a pile of money and having one women sit on their face while the other is bouncing up and down on their well endowed piece.

And for the haters, at night, look down and see nothing and cry themselves to sleep in their Mother’s basement.

TOTALLY AGREE WITH you re Malik Scott. His whole career has been a joke and it is now twice he has not been able to get up from what seem innocuous blows from CHISORA and now WILDER.

Watching the fight I was saying to myself, this guy me is gonna get KO’d without throwing a shot and that is what happened. I don’t even think the punches were hard enough to phase him as he looked like he was able to get up.

Whatever, Scott was brought in to make WILDER look like a real boxer, puncher. Being a runner Wilder could just walk him down without fearing anything SCOTT could bring. For once he was composed and didn’t throw anything wild or stupid.

Wilder needs to step up his competition real fast.

Just watched it again for the umpteenth time – no way a legit heavy was stopped by slapping left and right that landed on the gloves. Anyone who thinks Wilder’s win last night was legit has been had!

Herrera was definitely a much better opponent then Broken shot worn old slow as Mollasses Angulo and that fight ended in that horrific stoppage because Canelo couldn’t stop Angulo.. but that was ok.. LOL

Herrera didn’t exactly look like he wasn’t hit.. his eyes and face were swollen and beat up.. you have to take it from the champ.. Herrera never put Danny down or hurt him.. he just plowed in towards the champ in that amateurish manner, head and body low and throwing a Jab to the Belly of Danny all night long.. actually a boring fight because he wouldn’t stand toe to toe with Danny and exchange. A win is a Win… Danny Moves on and Herrera and his ugly style will be avoided because it makes for ugly fights. The Ref should’ve warned Herrera for coming in so low and for holding so much.

Danny is having trouble making the 140lb weight he wiill move up to 147lbs and continue working on his technique.. eventually getting his fight with Mayweather while Herrera and Lucas Matthyssee can stay at 140lbs and fight Mikey Garcia..

No suicide watch here.. JuanMa knocked Ponce Deleon dafkout… Jonathon Oquendo beat Avila and Danny Garcia Beat Herrera who was coming in with his head low all night long.. Holding too much. You don’t win fights with Pitty Pat jabs to the Champions Belly.. coming in with your head. Danny had the numbers on Power Shots. Danny got caught up with trying to get the KO instead of Boxing.. he’s young and still learning as all the Chihuahuas said of Canelo vs Mayweather.. Herreras got an ugly amatueish style that bothers pros like Prov and Danny.. Let him now go fight Lucas Matthyssee.. all in all Great night for the Boriquas vs the Chihuahuas

Garcia got roughed up but he was in PR what a hometown gift win for Garcia. Herrera just provided the gameplan on how to beat Garcia using the jab to frustrate. Herrera could of did further damage if he let the right go more often

Posted March 16, 2014 2:51 am

I’ve never liked wilder up till today. He destroyed Scott a skilled mobile heavyweight in one round who was practically undefeated only suffering a controversial stoppage to chisora. A better test against anther mover would be a fight with Jennings. I would also like to see wilder vs either perez, takem or chisora as they are relentless pressure fighting stalkers. Maybe a matchup with Lucas Browe would be good to see if he can manage someone else with massive power. A fight with Thompson would also be interesting as he is the ultimate gatekeeper who gave pulev 3 hard rounds and destroyed price twice. I would have to rate wilder above bums like leapai, mormeck and pianetta who managed to somehow get title shot. I think he needs one or two more fights against some of the names I have mentioned. Wlad is clearly the best but I have said it for a long time. The person who beats wlad will be someone similar to wlad. Tall, extremely athletic, has a massive punch and has a freakish ability to land the massive punch. Wilder for now looks the part, so did price. He just needs one or two more quality opponents but looks very dangerous right now.
