Maidana by tko. Here we go, moneys shoulder roll is to take a little off the straight right hand. Maidanas right hand is not straight at all and is clubbing, look at where the right hands landed on broiner, right by the eye and temple. that right hand landed at will, all night. Also the roll exposes moneys rightside of the body, every right handed fighter is taught to throw a double left hook. A dbl left hook will not work on money. In maidanas awkwardness he throws that right to the body under Floyd’s left elbow All day and the clubbing right hand up top similar to marquezs ko over pac man. Maidanas awkwardness and floyds age and trying to buy the clippers will be his downside. Its over! History will be made. Vamanos chino!

I think quite the opposite, i thought Amir khan had the perfect style to beat Floyd. But we all know Khan has a glass chin…so glass chin against a sharp accurate boxer like Floyd is no match…Maidana beating Broner goes given him some chance against Floyd but floyd to way too sleek and accurate. The only thing he lacks against broner is a solid chin..Floyd does have a very shaky chin…that’s why he’s mastered to hide it so well…

Fraud May

Keep on dreaming. WIDE UD win for Mayweather.

Posted March 3, 2014 10:39 pm

Broner shoulder rolls after the punch lands on his face. He is a low level fighter who was beaten by a much lower level Maidana. It’s good that finally Floyd acknowledges to what level he now belongs by fighting Maidana. But that fight is garbage and not worth the money

Posted March 2, 2014 2:20 pm

Fighting Words – your analysis is based on Broner skills and ability, Broner is a Mayweather wannabe. The only thing close to Floyd is only one aspect of the shoulder roll, Floyd has many different angles for the shoulder roll and has many othet ways to skin the cat starting with better footwork.

All good things have to come to an end, eventually.

Casual fan

Floyd ignored the poll because Khan is a Con. He ducked Brook, Porter, Thurman, and Alexander. His greedy fans think that a guy with a 2-2 record in his last 4 fights is a threat for Floyd. They also don’t mention that Floyd is trying to unify titles with Maidana. Oh well, haters gonna hate!!!!

Posted March 1, 2014 9:53 pm

Old Coot

Maidana could catch Floyd… But I doubt it… Maidana has slow legs and feet which means Floyd won’t fight him like Broner did… Floyd will run and gun… In fact that is exactly why Floyd ignored the poll and chose Maidana over Khan, because unlike Amir (and Manny Pacquiao in particular) who both have quick feet and can catch up to Floyd, Floyd knows Marcos has lead feet.

C’mon idiots! Yeah, Floyd is a better overall fighter, no doubt about it. But to act as if its a given and you already have official word that he won or will win, ignorant. Any time that human being steps himself inside that ring he is not immuned to bein separated from his conscious just as any other boxer. People become brainwashed after a while almost as if they laugh, truly thinking no fighter has any chance of possibly even hurting him. That’s sad because the reality landing from such a brainless fall is a painful one when you truly believed in your heart that this man is unable to be hurt or see defeat.

Fighting Words

I agree with the writer. I watch the fight with Maidana and Broner, and Broner showed everyone how to beat Floyd. If you watch the fight, Maidana started out taking the fight to Broner, even when Broner was moving the way Floyd does, Maidana stay on top of him throwing punches making him fight, working the body, throwing hooks and right hands. I give it to Broner he fought a good game, took some good shots and never quit. If Maidana bring the same energy to Floyd, I look for a KO by round 10. But this just a notion, because Maidana is promoter by GBP and they have a big stake in that $250 mil. contract Shaffer negociated for Floyd

Why does Pac keep signing with Arum knowing that Floyd won’t let Arum be a part of the Promotion which will take millions away from the fighters.

Pac doesn’t see how much Floyd is making compared to him and wonder why he isn’t getting the same???
Makes no sense. Pac should be on his own. Work out a deal like others have done. Get the fight made.

Manny Mama: Don’t be a POOR Sport Manny. I taught you better than that. Floyd is the GOAT. There is nothing to be upset about. Learn from him. Go take a SPANKING Marquez class.

Manny: No YOU go take it. Last time I faced Marquez he gave me a SLEEPING class.

SINCE a shocking right hand from an aging Mosley and a not so impressive win against Cotto

MAYWEATHER has fought
ORTIZ- not exactly reviewable
GURRERO- Not very well known fighter with 1 notable win (Berto)
CANELO- a KID who was stepping into a ring as a pro for the first time when Floyd was already 38-0 with 4 maybe. 5 world titles already under his belt.

NOW Maidana has had his ups nd downs knows what its like to get cought with a punch losing being the opponent has the power nd punching ability has gotten off thr canvas to win

YEEEES Floyd will win
BUT!!!!! I will Not be surprised if Maidana shocks the world

Posted February 28, 2014 7:47 pm

Dubble22 my friend, Manny was clearly robbed in their first fight because of some inept judge that didn’t know how to score a 3 knockdown round, which he admitted later. Manny was bouncing Marquez around like a basketball. This leads to my point, which I’ve always said. No one beats Manny on a one fight basis, no one. Manny’s style of fighting would give Floyd fits. Ped Man Marquez had 4 fights with him, so he should have learned something. Manny won 3 fights without a doubt and was punishing Ped Man Marquez until he stepped on his foot fell off balance and the Marquez lucky punch landed. Trust me, Floyd would be lost. A great fighter doesn’t continue to avoid another fighter with ridiculous demands. It’s simple, Floyd knows full well that he will have major problems. Manny is faster and stronger and can make adjustments. Floyd would lose this fight 5 years ago or today. Trust me on this. Manny wins.

Posted February 28, 2014 7:07 pm

The thing is, Maidana has improved a lot since his fight with Devon Alexander. Maidana is not the same fighter. Ask anyone.

Maidana has all the tools to beat Floyd and executed a gameplan against Broner the same way he should execute against Floyd.

Turn the boxing match into an all out war. Which Maidana did against Broner. Maidana just kept punching. He didn’t care where he was punching, elbows, shoulders, head, body.. anywhere and everywhere. Let the ref earn his money and do his job. Heck, a little head butt now and again will keep it interesting too. Try and take Floyd out of his comfort zone. And if Maidana is the one who keeps the offense going, then Floyd will have no choice but to play defense more. Floyd will get in his counter shots, but as I’ve seen in his opast fights, if his opponent is the one initiating the offense, Floyd will back pedal and roll, and defend. So if he’s defending, his offense output is a little lower.

Maidana however, needs to have the stamina and heart to do this for 3 minutes of every round. If he can accomplish that, Maidana has a great chance to win.

Posted February 28, 2014 6:36 pm

@Hec Dog…and all pac fans

Here is your short answer. Who gave many Pacquiao the most trouble in his career? JMM! Who is the only fighter who has better timing and accuracy than JMM? Floyd Mayweather. Manny will get another loss from floyd. Mayweather is faster than JMM with better timing and not to mention, longer arms with more height. too many advantages with floyd. Bob Arum is the only reason they have not had that fight yet. The ducking argument is weak. Let it go.

Posted February 28, 2014 6:30 pm

Maidana only wins on a blind punch that FMJ doesn’t see coming. Otherwise, Mayweather will get a late stoppage bc Maidana won’t stop coming, and he is small enough to be hurt by mayweather. He’s the first fighter in years that is going to come in the same weight as mayweather after the weigh in. Guerrero wasn’t much bigger but he’s more technical than Maidana. Great fight for the fans though. I see some good action happening in this one!

Pacquiao is the man and Floyd is a woman.

Knowing that if he fights Manny Pacquiao, he would make 4 times more than he fights Maidana, but he just does NOT have the confidence to go and get the money from Pacquiao. Thus, Floyd rather settles for much, much less in a safe, safe match.

Posted February 28, 2014 5:11 pm

The Golden Triangle

Since Floyd is too SCARED to fight Manny Pacquiao, he ended up going back to his cherry farm and picked another cherry.

When will Floyd grow enough confidence to fight Pacquiao? As Floyd Mayweather Sr said, “Never fight that little Asian, son. Never fight for life, son.” Daddy was right.

Posted February 28, 2014 5:07 pm

The Golden Triangle

Maidana has the puncher’s chance. If Maidana lands those heavy shots to Floyd as he did to Broner, lights will be out. And Maidana will be named as the Fried-Burner EXECUTIONER (I mean Floyd-Broner EXECUTIIONER)! The little brother got beat up and then the big brother got beat up, too.

Posted February 28, 2014 5:03 pm

The Golden Triangle

Floyd indeed got beaten up by Castillo. Honestly, I rooted for Floyd in that fight, but it was a shame that the judges stole the decision and handed to Floyd. The Pacquiao-Bradley’s first fight reminded me of Castillo-Mayweather’s first fight.

Posted February 28, 2014 4:58 pm

Hec Dog

Maidana has no chance period! The man that would have annihilated Floyd Mayweather 5 years ago and will destroy him today is Manny Pacquiao. Manny has the style, technique, athleticism to not only beat him, but stop him. We’ve seen an aging Shane Mosely alost knock Floyd out cold. Zab Judah was giving him problems and beating him. Oscar IMO beat him, but lost a split decision. Demarcus Chop Chop Corley had him frustrated and dropped him. Those guys had no chance to beat manny Pacquiao as Manny clearly destroyed Oscar. Manny Pacquiao is faster than Floyd, hits with much more power and can match Floyd’s movement. Ask Lydell Rhodes, Floyd Senior’s protege. Rhodes honestly stated recently after sparring 4rounds with the Filipino legend that he couldn’t see Manny’s punches coming. Rhodes said that he felt Manny’s power. This from a guy that sparred Floyd. Rhodes was in awe. I understand why Floyd wants no part of Manny. The southpaw power house that is Manny Pacquiao has all the attributes to beat Floyd in all areas. Floyd is a counter puncher that needs to be able to read his opponents timing. He waits, sees and counters. Manny uses unimaginable, unpredictable feints that have his opponents guessing. The shoulder roll will NOT work against a southpaw that has more speed than Floyd. Floyd can’t run away because Manny can match his movement. Floyd can’t stand toe to toe because we all know what would happen. Once Floyd’s speed advantage is nullified, the end is near. Floyd has no heart to fight as seen in the Cotto fight where he tried to fight, received a bloodied nose and swollen face, and decided never to try and out gut a fighter again. Manny Pacquio’s style is complex. No one beats him on a one fight basis, no one. Manny also has a beautiful supporting wife tht gives him much strength. Their situation is like Rocky II when Rocky is in the hospital with Adrian after she awakes. They have a short conversation, and she tells Rocky that he looks tired. Rocky starts talking about not maybe doing something else. Adrian tells Rocky to come here, closer to her. She says “There’ one thing I want you to do for me, Rocky “What”. Adrian responds “win.Win” and the rest is history. I get somewhat emotional as watch that scene and relate it to Manny and Jinkee. Manny is the real life Rocky 100 times over. His resume dwarfs any other fighter including Floyd Mayweather. The truth of the matter is that Manny Pacquiao is the better fighter and the better man. Come April 12, Manny Pacquiao takes over the boxing world as King of the Ring, The Peoples Champion, and The Greatest fighting Machine of all time. Trust me, Floyd will never beat Manny Pacquiao. Manny is the best!

Posted February 28, 2014 4:41 pm

Maidana-Floyd is a ridiculous fight. Of course every boxer has a puncher’s chance. But it does not put Maidana on Floyd’s level. Not that Floyd is great but the opposition is just rubbish. Maidana is a C class fighter who beat a C+ fighter in Broner. He is not a legitimate opposition for Floyd and the audience will be duped in a low risk, cherry picked million dollar fight of Mayweather. What is legitimate about this fight is robbery in broad daylight.

I think GGG,154lb ? porter 147lb and PAC or the new PAC, before no, now yes he back, found his old rhythm. Could beat Floyd, but it’s a business and the chief would not risk it all.
All three has good head movements and are high output punches. Really wanted to see khan or paulie get the fight. Maidana attack is a bit too predicable, for sure Floyd would get off and slip and duck, and stay out of range all night, will maidana catch him, he has the right idea Same as broner the 1-4 right hand is his best shot, but maidana did tayor his late right hand, so I think a few right hands would get in there, as long as he don’t feel intimidated.

It’s a shame too because Pac’s resume of names somewhat overshadows Floyd despite Floyd I would say is the better overall boxer/fighter and would have beaten all of Pac’s opponents.

I hoping everyone gets to see the trailer for the epic documentary called “MANNY.” I watched earlier it today. This transcends all sports. Go to the Manny Pacquiao web sit and you can see for yourselves the excitement this movie is spreading throughout the world. This documentary is a must see for all boxing/sports fans in general. There is no other current or past fighter that can compare to this living legend’s life story. Some of the footage is unbelievable. You’ll see a young kid fighting grown men with much more experience, and stopping them with the power of thunder. You will clearly see that Manny was a born puncher with power. This will put to rest all of these desperate accusations of Manny using any type of Peds. The man has always been blessed with incredible power even as a young 15 year old. This is a powerful story of a blessed man that was chosen to do something special in life. A natural born fighter that crawled out of the gutter to become the greatest pure fighter of all time. The only 8 time division boxing champion in the history of boxing. There is no reason to dislike this man. No reason to accuse or insult this incredible human being. This documentary will simply make you appreciate your own life, and marvel at the obstacles and challenges Manny Pacquiao miraculously overcame. This is a triumphant story of a man that beat bigger odds than winning lottery. An incredible and unbelievable life of man that today is one of the world’s most influential people. A man that makes changes to help those that have no voices to be heard. A man chosen by God to make a change in this world. Manny Pacquiao continues to go higher than any athlete has ever gone. Manny is the best!

Posted February 28, 2014 1:54 pm

Oscar was Floyd’s dream fight and Shane was next in line but you still have to be in the division/pool making big waves to fight Oscar.

Floyd, likes to make it out like he beat a Prime Oscar and a Prime Shane but he didn’t. True, they were coming off wins, especially Shane, which I hold higher than Pac’s wins over both of them, but they were still past their best.

Floyd is a ATG fighter but he needs better “Prime” names on his resume to be considered where he and his die-hard fans think he belongs.

Posted February 28, 2014 1:52 pm

Williams was overrated? I guess it depends on how high someone rates him. But he did fight tougher competition than Floyd has and put up some decent wins even if some were close.

He also knocked Quintana out in the rematch.

Floyd didn’t look so hot against Castillo either. And even the rematch i wasn’t overly impressed despite Floyd winning the fight enough to say it was a clean win.

Posted February 28, 2014 1:49 pm

I agree Mike. He needs to move down. As for the Oscar fight, Floyd would of moved up to his division. I think he was only 1 weight class away. If he was 2 I don’t think it mattered. Oscar was Floyds dream fight. He wanted that loot. We differ on Williams. I think he was a greatly overrated fighter and I was never impressed with him. If that Puerto Rican dude out boxed him I just think Floyd would of done the same. Floyd moves when he needs to. That early in his welter weight career he would of been able to move around Williams. He only started standing more still when he moved to Jr Middle after the Oscar fight. I think he packed on some muscle and now he doesn’t move as much.

Posted February 28, 2014 1:41 pm

@PEEJ. Broner will get destroyed at welterweight. The guy is flat footed and inactive. His best options is Paulie or Zab because everyone else will beat him.

Posted February 28, 2014 1:20 pm

Williams is Very Tall, Long Reach which is interesting since Floyd tends to have an advantage in this department, Good Power, Great Chin, and a High Punch out put. Williams would have bothered Floyd because Floyd during his WW career became a fighter that was more selective with his punches and didn’t quite move around like he did in the lower weight classes.

A Healthy Forrest would have been a great fight.

Prime Shane and Oscar vs. Floyd would have been great too.

Floyd had no chance to face Oscar back then unless he was in the division which he wasn’t. Anybody can call someone out.

All Time: Hearns would be my first choice to beat Floyd.
Floyd Sr chose SRR.

Posted February 28, 2014 1:19 pm

Maidan pressure will trouble Floyd in this fighter. He did fight an aggressive fighter in years

Posted February 28, 2014 1:15 pm

Corley also lost. Broner needs to drop to 140. He is too small at 147 and he needs to learn how to move his feet and throw combos. He seems to not have that knowledge

Posted February 28, 2014 1:13 pm

This author can not enforce his opinion on others. Castillo never beat Floyd but people have a right to think differently.

Posted February 28, 2014 1:11 pm

Floyd did try to fight Shane at 135 or 140 but Shane moved up to fight Oscar. Who can blame him, that is like fighting Floyd now, a lottery ticket. Floyd also tried to fight Oscar but Oscar ignored him. I really don’t think Williams would of troubled Floyd too much only because Williams didn’t understand spacing, he liked to get real close and throw those punches. Floyd would of at him up on that. Forrest is another story though. He would of troubled Floyd because he had a good jab and he actually had great timing.

Posted February 28, 2014 1:04 pm

Corley staggered Floyd twice

Posted February 28, 2014 1:01 pm

Mmm, I lean towards what Paulie M. thinks which was basically Khan beats Broner because Broner doesn’t throw enough and is flat-footed.

Broner needs to do himself a favor by erasing all Welterweights of Floyd and go back to Floyd’s days from 130-140 when Floyd was really putting his punches together, had a higher work-rate, beautiful movement from head to toe, etc.

I like the idea of Khan being fed to Broner, to get Broner back on a winning streak. Golden Boy know that Khan is finished. Khan gets knocked over by featherweights, Broner will stop glass jaw inside five rounds.

Posted February 28, 2014 12:48 pm

Although, let’s say while the WW division was hot, way back, when Shane and Oscar were fighting each other in their primes, those two would have given Floyd hell but Floyd gets a pass during that time because he wasn’t big enough yet.

A “Healthy” Vernon Forrest according to Roger is who would have troubled Floyd during that era. Other than that, maybe Paul Williams who is the only guy I would consider saying Floyd actually avoided and someone else Roger pointed to as being a tough test because he was “some kind of freak for the WW division.”

main things that basically win the fight for Floyd if he fights/fought Pac: The JAB, which his Father brought back in, and Movement…especially backwards since you can let Pac jump in while you Jab to keep him at bay, then unload the right hand. Remember the Reach advantage for Floyd over his opponents has been something to look at besides the other things like speed, enough power to stun you, countering, etc.

Posted February 28, 2014 12:39 pm

Well I don’t want to get in the whole debate about Pac and Floyd. Everybody knows how I feel about that fight and how it wold turn out. Personally the person that will beat Floyd is 1 able to take his punches and not care about getting hit. People say he has feather fists but yet nobody just walks in on him and beats him up. 2 someone that can utilize movement and actually has a jab that they will use constantly. Not just here and there. And 3 someone who can actually fight for 12 rounds. Floyd is a 15 round fighter. Heck he can fight for 20 rounds. After about 6 or 7 rounds a lot of fighters start to lose their form. Floyd doesn’t and then what may have not been working early will start working late. If you can’t do that then you are not gonna beat Floyd. If you are gonna try and box with Floyd you will probably lose, if you try to counter punch Floyd you will probably lose. You have to be able to do both.

LOL! if Floyd can brawl with cotto at 154, play with guerrero, play with canelo, maidana aint doing sh#$!

“Floyd only picks fights that he isn’t going to lose” {End}

Ah, 99% of people will pick Floyd over everyone from 154 and below.

do you expect him to move up to MW?

Posted February 28, 2014 12:28 pm

People also forget the one “Southpaw” he had trouble with for about 4 rounds was Judah who also happened to spar Floyd before so he knew going in what to expect. And Floyd did too which was to just be patient, don’t worry about the early rounds, and then turn up the heat on Judah to break him down mentally and physically.

It’s funny, they say Floyd has trouble with Southpaws yet he has beaten everyone of them. The only person people can come close to saying Floyd had serious trouble with was CASTILLO who was an Orthodox fighter.

That said, I think Manny still would have been a tough fight for Floyd because he had the full package. But same goes for Floyd for Pac

This author must be related to Floyd. It’s obvious he’s only trying to drum up PPV sales. It’s not going to work on me; I will never buy this fight. I can see a lot of fans walking away very disappointed after paying for this one and Floyd laughing at them after an extremely easy fight.

Floyd will be KOd if he is caught flush? Floyd has been hit before, he has a decent chin. People act like he has never been hit before. It will take more than 1 shot to KO Floyd. Its like when people say oh he has trouble with south paws but yet he is undefeated. If Floyd loses 2 rounds he had trouble with that fighter. lol.

Maidana will KO Floyd in round 8 or 9.

How about Amir “Cry Baby” Khan v Fozzie Bear at a catchweight?

Wtf! Of course Floyd will always school the likes of Maidana and Canelo in the same way that a grown up man would beat up a kindergarten. Do you ever get it? MISMATCHED, OVERMATCHED? All for money. This is a hype job, fraud, robbery. A runner and a plodder.

I predicted that we would see these kinds of predictions. Like the say, hope springs eternal, and it would be nigh impossible to come across any other sport circumstances where hope for a certain conclusion, fueled mainly by a vicarious obsession to witness FMJ get beaten, was more pronounced.

Let me see. They said that Canelo was too strong, too fast, too evasive, and too young for Floyd to over come. And he did. These predictions that have him loosing have become standard today, going all the way back to his fight with Gatti, where his assertiveness that Gatti was not in his class, and then clearly demonstrating that in the fight, left, made many in sport punditry look like fools. And that has continued since then, so they only way they feel they can remove this from their appearance, is for him to get beat.

Sorry folks. You will be in your recliners bringing up bile years from now when you look back and realize that your greatest desire remained evasive. You will not get to see FMJ get beat. So stock up on your Maalox and other antacids, because you will need them after he schools Maidana even more easily than he schooled your last “hope” Canelo.

This fight is on the same level as Mayweather vs. Big Show. It’s a circus show. Everybody knows Maidana is not on his level. This is a robbery, a fraud! Well, a sucker is born every minute that’s why this show sells.

Maidana has a punchers chance as all punchers do. Floyd to my knowledge has only been tagged once in his career. That was by Shane Mosley, then he out boxed him the rest of the fight. I don’t think Maidana will get close or put Mayweather to the ropes and keep him there. If he does, Mayweather is just to slick to get hit and Maidana is just to slow.

Don’t you guys realise, Khan don’t wanna earn a shot at Floyd, he wants the easiest, softest route to it. The type of fighter who could bet Floyd in my book is someone with speed, a good chin, and something that has not been mentioned here much, output. If Joe Calzaghe and Floyd had have been around the same weight that would have been some fight to watch. There is a lot similarities between Calzaghe and Pacman in my opinion. They are both very fast, have a half decent chin and whilst Pacmans output was not as much as Joe’s he does have a decent output. There are no chess matches with these guys. They dont try and muscle their way onto the inside to try and out muscle a fighter. They step into the pocket and throw a barrage of shots with such speed that it overwealms a fighters defences. Is there a fighter with these skills at such a level that they could beat Floyd? Who knows, but whats for certain is Maidnan does not have these skills. The reality is the fight we all still want to see is Mayweatehr Vrs Pacman.

Posted February 28, 2014 6:08 am

maidana is the perfect style for Floyd, slow, agressive, low ring IQ.If you look at Floyd’s history, the only style that presents him problems is the combination of speed, timing and power.Only a few opponents of Floyd had this.Mosley, who almost had Jr out of there, and who surely would have if the fight had happened a few years earlier when Shane was still on form.DLH,again,if he was in his prime, would have fared much better and Judah, who for the first half of the fight, was getting the better of Floyd. The reason Floyd beat Judah wasn’t a speed advantage,in fact, you could argue Judah had the speed advantage;it was because Floyd adapted and figured Judah out,due to his superior ring IQ.And this is what makes Floyd so good.Even if he is matched in speed and timing, his ring IQ will prevail, unless he steps in with an opponent of equal skill and ring IQ,of which I can think of only one:Rigo, who unfortunately is a few divisions away.Maidana, while entertaining and a worthy champ,is simply fodder to Floyd. But who,in reality, would have a good shot at beating Floyd?Which potential opponent has the style to upset him?maybe Lara?

Posted February 28, 2014 6:01 am

Floyd knows exactly how to deal with a fighter who cames at him. Watch the Ricky Hatton fight. Hatton is out at range, Mayweather is nailing him. Hatton thinks he’s gotta get inside. Mayweather nails him even harder coming in. Hatton is finally on the inside. Mayweather grabs on and spoils. Ref splits the fighters putting them back out of range. Repeat until Hatton gets knocked out. Maybe Maindana has a better chin that Ricky and last the whole fight but whether he lasts the 12 or gets knocked out whats gonna happen is he’s going to loose.

Ray Ray – Lol, I’m not saying his weakness is his speed. He hasnt got any weakness! But in my book a good brawler always meets his match when he fights a fundementally sound fighter. The answer to a good fundementally sound fighter is not a good brawler (maidana) is finding a fighter who is either faster or who has better defences. Kahn in my opinion in lightening fast. Floyds defensive relexes are also lightening fast. That to me interests me as a fan. Im not saying Khan wins, but I’d like to see what happens. What I know for sure is that Maindana does not have the skells to get any where near Floyd. People sya he’s got a punchers chance. Well they also say Khan has a glass chin, but we are now saying Floyds new opponents only chance is a KO, when he coulndt even get a KO over a class chinnen Khan! If you cant knock out someone with a glass chin what chance have you got against a defensive master with a solid chin. You guessed it, none!

Maidana got a puncher’s chance. That’s it. Difference between the Canelo fight might be that Maidana goes after Floyd in stead of trying to box which would have been a disaster LOL.
Maidana is a B-level fighter. He gets beat every time he faces someone half decent. I enjoy watching him and I’d love to see him smack little Floyd in the face but he’s in for a beating.

I’m not Floyd fan and have been vocal about how this fight with Maidana is a joke and does nothing for his legacy. But I’ve watched the Castillo fight a number of times and Floyd clearly won the fight. This writer says that Maidana has just the right style but anyone with a boxing brain knows that this style has been thrown again and again at Floyd with pretty much no sucess what so ever. Also Maidana is not the fighter that Castillo was at the stage in his career when he fought Mayweather. At this stage in his career the only tyle of fighter who can maybe get to Floyd is a fast fighter. Khan could have been that fighter IMO but Floyd has taken the easy option.

Actually I think Costillo threw more bombs but got tagged repeatedly with Floyds jabs….anyways the 115-111 scorecards is what matters….referring 2 that fight is all pactards have. Isn’t he fighting Madaina? What’s Costillo doing? Nuff said…

Haha wot a joke, an easy, safe and somewhat disappointing choice by the Money Man Fraud ‘Insecure’ Mayweather, The ppl wanted Khan because of his speed! (Look at Judah’s first 4 against Fraud, Zab knocked him down too!) Prob won’t fight Manny either for the same reason. It always makes God giggle when we talk of the Irony of how Floyd could nickname himself ‘Money’ and still so cowardly duck dive dodge dip n dodge the Biggest ‘Money’ fight of his career!!!! Haha Classic….

Manny is the best!

I can’t stop laughing at this statement. Marcos Maidana has ZERO chance. Forget about his toughness. He has nothing and was specifically CHERRY picked to make Mayweather look great. What a joke of a fight. I’m not spending a penny on this set up fight. I suggest every boxing fan not buy this PPV otherwise Floyd will be laughing at you all the way to the bank. There will not be a stoppage because Mayweather is too busy scoring points and winning rounds. Maidana will be too busy trying to hit Mayweather with everything but the kitchen sink, will miss, try again. That’s it. However, it will be exciting to watch because Maidana is a super fierce warrior, and even though he will be outboxed by Mayweather, he will not be in awe or intimidated.

Lol they let anyone post on ESB these days. This article should’ve been in the comment section. Castillo beat him the first time I’m not gonna lie about that but the second was pure master class from Mayweather. Maidana is a lot slower than Canelo so I see Floyd having no problem keeping distance. Also Floyd is much bigger and has been able to eat big shots constantly in y’all still think Mayweather has no chin..ridiculous

” few of you guys are very confusing, why are some of you guys debating the use of 10oz gloves ?
this fight is at WW, 147 which means 8oz not 10oz gloves….”

Not necessarily:

The titles on the line in this fight will the WBC , the WBA, and the WBA Super Champion. The WBC allows certain modifications or exceptions to be made to their rules. So if the fighters agreed to fight with 10 oz. gloves and the WBC approved it, they could possibly do so. The WBA rules however make no mention of such exceptions or modifications. WBA rules clearly state that super welterweights and above shall use 10 oz. gloves and welterweights and below will use 8 oz. gloves. However, both WBC and WBA rules may be superceded by national, state or provincial government, or the regulations of a national or local boxing commission. In other words, if the NSAC says welterweights can use either 8 oz or 10 oz gloves, then they can. Additionally, contractual agreements may supercede all the above.

Additionally, due to two boxing deaths in 2005 the NSAC (Nevada State Athletic Commission) established an advisory panel which helped to create a new rule requiring boxers who weighed 135 lbs and above to use 10 oz gloves.

Unless there is some contract stipulation for 8 oz. gloves and unless the NSAC approves the use of lighter gloves, Mayweather and Maidana should be fighting with 10 oz gloves.

Floyd’s issue

It is possible that Maidana beats up Floyd, however it is quite unlikely.
Joe Frazier said before the Ali Foreman fight that either fighter could win because they trained hard, have two arms and legs, and a chance. He said the fight could end anywhere between 1 and 15 rounds, and he was right, it ended in the 8…
I personally hope that Floyd gets violated big time, he not only deserves it, he desperately needs it. He needs to learn something valuable about life and can only do so by being humbled….

a few of you guys are very confusing, why are some of you guys debating the use of 10oz gloves ?
this fight is at WW, 147 which means 8oz not 10oz gloves….

so floyd will stop maidana, i love both of them but the fact is floyd is so many worlds better than maidana
it will be yko/ko anywhere from round 4-10, lasting till 10 i will be shocked cause floyd will attack his body
and be bitting him cleanly at will..

the writer is not smoking crack, he is taking hullicis, like crazy amounts of liquid acid or ounces of mushrooms.

he is completely out of his mind and for his sake i hope he is just seeking attention because he sounds like a moron
of the highest order. yes floyd is OLD and his die hard career long fans see its obvious, he has lost much over the last few
years but he is still on a higher level than every other fighter in the world. he is no where near slowed down enough
for maidana to even have the punchers chance. he was landing clean all night on broner and back in 2010 he could knock
down a badly hurt khan. floyds chin is as solid as they come so maidanas punchers chance just went out the window..

i’m truly not sure maidana can make it much past round 6. i see him being stopped before round 8 from exhaustion and
from being hit cleanly all night with clean power shots, leads, counters, everything in the bookj floyd will land.
i am truly very happy for maidana getting a huge deserved payday but that aint saving him. he is going to hit the wall
and ots going to get real ugly from there on..

Pressure seems to trouble Floyd when it’s coming with decent speed and quickness. I think Hatton made PBF uncomfortable for a few rounds and Mosley made him uncomfortable for 2 rounds. Maidana doesn’t have speed. He will apply pressure, but PBF will easily be able to see every punch coming. Arms and shoulders all night fellas. But, at least Maidana will get a nice paycheck. I can’t see this fight selling well on PPV, how can it?

Posted February 28, 2014 12:20 am

I like Maidana, he seems like a class-act and you have to admire his guts and toughness. But, Baldomir was tough as nails, but also slow as molasses and look what happened to him. PBF won’t lose a round in this fight, not even close. I see Maidana getting hurt with a body shot and PBF finishing him. Khan didn’t deserve the fight, but he would have been more competitive with his speed and quickness, at least until he got caught flush. Maidana is too slow and predictable, easy night for PBF.

@You Gotta Earn It Boy
Pressure is what troubles Floyd, not speed. El Chino will bring pressure and win by surprise KO.

Yes he can bring pressure and make a dirty fight but ref Joe cortez will stop the action and seperate them.

Posted February 28, 2014 12:13 am

If PBF thought Manny was an easy night, he would have taken the easy money, beat him, and run to the bank with a huge smile knowing he just got the biggest paycheck of his career. You don’t turn down that kind of money for easy work. Come folks, let’s get serious. As for Maidana, the dude lost to Devon Alexander, yes, Devon Alexander. The blueprint is already out on how to beat this guy, Floyd doesn’t need to create a blueprint. In my opinion, Floyd will have harder sparring matches.

Posted February 28, 2014 12:12 am

The Honeybadger

Not so much the power, which will be a factor, but it’s Maidanas toughness, ruggedness, pressure, and awkwardness that will give Floyd problems. Keep dreaming if you think this is the same Maidana Alexander or Khan fought. Broner did! Maidana has that middleweight power he won’t land using speed because he’s not fast enough to catch Floyd, but he has the timing to do it. He won’t be boxing with Floyd he’ll be stalking him down trying to wear him down attacking the body and being overly aggressive in the clinches, where Floyd will be in most trouble. Maidana is either tailor made or could be a potential nightmare for the p4p king.

Posted February 28, 2014 12:12 am

talk about someone who is totally delusional, i would bet my life maidana would NEVER ko floyd.
for one he doesnt have the power even if floyd let him wind up and land cleanly on him , never mind
floyd will see his punches a mile away. yes floyd has slowed way down, the dude is 37 years old.
and i would love to know how you go about scoring a fight.
floyd vs castillo 1, while floyd had a torn rotator cuff going in WON all the first 5 rounds and won the 11th.
so the best he could do is get a draw assuming one could be so crazy as to give jose all the other rounds.
didnt happen. i would LOVE to know which rounds you scored for who, just so i know exactly how bad your scoring
is. castillo gave it his best shot but still came up short against a pre injured floyd.
please reply with which rounds went to whom in your crayz mind. FYI: punches thrown and deflected do NOT count as scoring
shots and that was MOST of castillos thrown shots, deflected shots that mostly didnt even land.

most importantly please for your own health and for you families future, immediately STOP what ever it is you have been
smoking, snorting and or shooting. that kind of stuff damages the brain, and obviously you need the added advantage
of starting the brain healing and recover process immediately so you can come to you senses before you open your
,mouth too much and end up placing a bet you are ill intellegent enough to be making.

so i will endlessly wait for your response to this post for your scorecards. i need to know i amd speaking with a somewhat sane
person. if what i expect comes to fruition, i will save myself future reads of articles from someone on such a low boxing IQ writer.

thanks for the laughs and i look forward to your response. as soon as you do that i will update my scorecard and explain
why you are so wrong..

you’re welcome in advance

I don’t think FMJ “cherry picks” fights. Too many big names. I see the Pac fight as a hype to raise more money and push it off to the end. But why not? Truth be told, both of those guys are dynamite and either knows they could lose and it’s a big risk.

No, it will be a boring points win for Floyd. Ward and Mayweather should fight, it will be good for insomnia.

Posted February 27, 2014 11:56 pm

Would a FMJ loss be good for boxing? Im gonna say yes because people who dont usually watch or talk about boxing will be shocked to see and hear the news and look into it. If Mayweather wins, it’s another day at the office, nothing abnormal.

Maybe not as many knock downs but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was fight of the year.

Floyd has alot to lose and nothing to gain as he ages it becomes more possible for him to run into something big. Maidana has nothing to lose and everything to gain. The pressure is not on Maidana. Broner is no Mayweather but his defensive style is a mimic of FMJ. If nothing else, it shows that Maidana punches coming from wierd angles can get past that defensive guard posture. Having said that, I have to reiterate that Floyd is much faster, seasoned and skilled than Broner and has been in there with the best. Maidana has lots of keep coming at you hard shots and he brings the thunder when he lands flush. This will be similar but different to other fights. Most telling is that Maidana’s shots are slick and tricky and he landed that looping right over Broner’s guard all night. While i give Floyd overall better talent than Broner hands down; Broner has a chin for sure. Floyd, I’m not sure about. I never saw him get decked.

Proud African

Andrew Hall don’t hold your breath. Mayweather will spank Maidana like a rabid dog.

Don’t take that advice about dropping your pants in a shopping mall and shouting “I have a tiny custard cannon!” at the top of your voice, Andrew. I’ve tried it, and let me tell you: it’s no way to get people’s attention. In fact, it’s guaranteed to have the opposite effect: people will avoid like you’re not quite right in the head. It’s not fair, I know, but it’s true.

Floyd is going to show broner that you wouldn’t have stood a chance with me. After this fight broner will call out maidana and try to fight him like big brother Floyd. But this time broner will get koed.

And the hype machine isn’t even up and running yet!

Stop it! Don’t be fools! Maidana has NO chance. I can’t even think a fight more easy to predict than this.

Again: don’t get sucked into the hype! Don’t sanction this mismatch by giving up your money to line Floyd’s pockets. He’s taking you all for idiots!

Andrew Hall, clearly you wanted to get attention, but you’re totally deluded. If you crave attention that much why not go to your local shopping mall, drop your pants and shout at the top of your voice, “I have a tiny custard cannon.”

I like Floyds talent. I think he beats Maidana rather easily. Marcos is tough and loves to brawl. He also has heart and power. I respect his high ko percentage but he throws way too wide and looping. His average hand speed will be timed and countered all night…he also has a very loose defense and carries a low guard when tiring….i would rather have seen maidana vs thurman …if floyd is gonna insist on calling himself TBE then he should be fighting on June 7th…lol..if a guy that is 5’7″ with a 68 inch reach is gonna attempt history against Martinez, then Floyd should test his skills and leave the public in awe..but i know!!!its a like floyd but i dont agree with all of his opponent selections aka “business decisions”…rather its maidana or khan its still low risk high reward..maidana is a damn good fighter but he isnt a viable threat to really dethroned mayweather..

Maidana will KO Floyd. Hahahahaha

And then after that, Maidana will be fighting Elvis.

Posted February 27, 2014 10:52 pm

Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but come on, really? Maidana has nothing but a puncher’s chance to beat PBF. I am not a fan of PBF, I think he ducked Manny and a prime Cotto, Margarito, and Williams like the plague. And for whatever reason, he is still ducking Manny even though Manny slipped. But, I can still see reality. There is absolutely NOTHING that Maidana can do, that PBF hasn’t already seen MANY times before. Maidana is WAY too slow guys, WAY too slow. PBF will see those punches coming from a mile away. Maidana will do nothing but hit arms and shoulders. Let’s not forget, Maidana can be hurt. It’s not like he is Margarito, with a granite chin, and can eat punches like skittles. Maidana has been rocked more than once before, by lesser fighters. In my opinion, this is a glorified sparring match with PBF easily winning every round or KO’ing Maidana.

Posted February 27, 2014 10:50 pm

I agree, maidana is a harder puncher than Shane. Maidana can get hour out of there. Look at his record.

Posted February 27, 2014 10:47 pm

I think this us a bold prediction, but possible. Maidana had 12 rounds against someone similar to Mayweather. This is a plus. Of the past Mayweather opponents none of them face a similar style to Floyd. Also, his trainer has a lot of experience in big shows which gives Maidana more confidence.

Q -Zab was soundly beaten by some devastating body attack at the hands of May, and I agree southpaws have posed no greater threat than orthodox boxers. only 2 boxers I think would pose a great threat to Floyd and would possibly beat him SRL ( ring IQ) & the Hitman (height, drive, strong jab, speed, powerful right cross & boxing skills.

Not only is Floyd going to win, but I believe Floyd is going to give Maidana a Gatti style (RIP) beat down. Maidana beat up his little bother Broner. And then Maidana disses Mayweather’s poll. Floyd is going to make it hurt.

Is he going to out Box Floyd over 12 rounds when he can’t score the knockout???? LMFAO. This isn’t Broner. This is the GOAT. Floyd by Argentenian AGONIZING late stoppage.

Floyds first ever knockdown/round are where the money is.

Posted February 27, 2014 10:12 pm

murderman: You should go watch that Judah fight again. Zab’s SPEED made him look like an EQUAL, but he never was giving any “fits.” He just had some of what you could call “effective” moments. That lasted about 3 rounds literally. Floyd was already starching him to the body the whole time. Zab’s speed was neutralized with Floyd’s gameplan, as opposed to how heavy punching pressure fighters have cause Zab problems. Zab knocked Floyd off balance at one point because Floyd kept throwing to the body and his weight was already moving him to where he could get thrown a bit off balance. It was a very very slight point of glove balance check. Floyd was never “rocked” in that fight, and it was one of Floyd’s most thorough beatings. Now, you can name Zab, but you can also name a less accomplished ORTHODOX fighter who really gave Floyd fits, Emmanuel Augustus. Demarcus Corely stunned Floyd because Floyd hadn’t got into adjusting to southpaws as far as not really using the shoulder roll and going more for outside pot shotting. So he threw a punch and Corley’s shot caught him off guard a bit. However, he was hurt worse against SSM an ORTHODOX fighter for much of the same reason. Guerrero was also a southpaw… the southpaw thing is extremely overrated. Especially when you’re counting Zab Juda, who was just a pretty damn good and extremely fast champion at the time.

So many things wrong with this view I can’t find a starting point.
Very quickly…..
1. Ginger boy who got shut out for 12 is in his prime
2. Floyd gets better, if you enjoy the science of boxing, with each passing fight
3. You don’t listen to the PAID ring side announcers as you should watch and score the action yourself.
4. Maidana is not an excellent boxer where as Floyd is one of if not the best ever in the sport.

I love Maidana. He has scratched and clawed his way to this fight but this write up is way of base.

Posted February 27, 2014 10:10 pm

Maidana won’t WIN. I guarantee it. Floyd just beat 3 guys in a row who are BETTER than Maidana. 14k is only TOO much IF you LOSE. But you won’t. You’ll WIN and the bookies will be SPANKED yet again.

Posted February 27, 2014 10:10 pm

How the F do you conclude that Marcos is a “brawler”?

No one is stupid enough to “brawl” with Maidan, not even Khan was that stupid!

Maidana is an old school, chin-down heavy-hander!

147lbs saw him mature into a smarter 12 rounder.

People should NOT forget Maidana was robbed at 140lbs by Kotelnik and the crooks in Germany, was promised an immediate rematch only for the 135lb clown Khan to duck MAB in a rematch and jump to 140lb to run all night long from Andre …. another 18months went by before GBP and Khan were forced to show some honor there and only for Ariza and Joe Cortez to get paid.

No, Maidana has earned his pips over and over!

This seems to be a re-write of the Canelo article prior to meeting Floyd in ring and we all know what happened with that. Maidana is tough, very tough. But the reply will be the same as Ali’s reply prior to fighting Foreman in 1974: Foreman can’t hurt what he can’t hit. That’s it.

Nope. Those odds are too strong for Maidana. Maidana has a LESSER shot against Floyd then Buster Douglas had against Tyson. SO Floyd should at least be a 41-1 favorite. I’ll put 14k down to WIN the EASY 1000 bucks

Posted February 27, 2014 9:47 pm

IF the relatively GREEN Danny Garcia can figure Khan out you’d better BET that Floyd would figure him out TOO….Floyd has reached the ULTIMATE point in Sports. There are no TRUE challenges. Time to retire like Michael Jordan DID when he met that point. Only Fighting with RUST may present a challenge. ….OH I FORGOT. He already tried that.

Posted February 27, 2014 9:43 pm

Manny is also a nice bit shorter and less lengthy than Floyd, so those angles are hard to use to the max when you’re kept on the outside of a jab and Floyd’s OWN footwork created angles.

Posted February 27, 2014 9:40 pm

murderman: Floyd’s southpaw woes are so overrated. He was hurt against Mosley, he was busted up a bit against Cotto, he was challenged in one of two fights against Castillo, and he was challenged by Emanuel Burton/Augustus. However, southpaws with lots of speed kind of f with Floyd’s rhythm it seems…… but that’s normal, lol.

Posted February 27, 2014 9:39 pm

Floyd is SO GREAT that they have him at a 14-1 favorite which is STILL a STEAL because Floyd would beat him 100 out of 100 times.

Your right Q, maidana don’t have a jab. That makes him more predictable. Money is aware of his power, but the name of the game is to hit and not get hit. That’s why Bernard is still around. Great ring generalship. Didn’t care about the boos, and set his own pace fighting with the jab

Posted February 27, 2014 9:23 pm

Clock “Maidana I think also won’t buckle under frustration like many “conventional” boxers do. He is a brawler first even though he can box a bit now.” – well, it’s not about “buckling under pressure” it’s about having lungs and legs and those things. They get fatigued. When I boxed, the scariest thing was the idea of gassing, and then just taking a serious ruthless ass beating that you’re too tired to do anything about. You know you’re not going to have much time to recover and that the only saving you get is through a stoppage. It’s daunting. People don’t like feeling helpless. Floyd’s stamina scares people as much as anything else he does. It’s really the MOST intimidating thing about him I’d imagine. You go in thinking he might outbox you but whatever, you’re probably not too worried…. but then you have to think about how he’s going to be damn near fresh while you are simply physically depleted as a human being.. and just simply can’t keep up. Maidana got tired and rocked a few times by broner…. this will weigh on him. The entire idea of getting gassed.

FM has fought 16+ World Champions, some of those 2 and 3 weight champions as well as going up thru the weights himself and taking on bigger guys as well as guys coming up in weight(which he also did himself)…
This cherry picking argument is without merit…
Apart from PAC… Who hasn’t FM fought who would have been a more worthy challenger than those he has faced already?????

Posted February 27, 2014 9:09 pm

lman: Maidana not being quick enough nor having a moving jab will hurt him as well, and you make the point that I mention. You try to WAIT (conserve energy) and you get picked apart…. you try to ATTACK…. and you still get countered, then you automatically stop throwing and that’s when you get picked apart further because it’s even worse than conserving energy because now your legs and all are tired. It’s just a really bad scenario for any fighter that can’t GET TO HIM, without being conservative… without being reckless…. without getting noticeably tired. It’s just a tall task for most fighters. Maidanna is not the man to beat Floyd. You have to get to him, you’re not going to ALMOST get to him for 12 rounds, because he’s also hitting you WITH FORCE….. most fighters just are NOT equipped to beat this man. He better hope Floyd gets old over night and he can HURT him, consistently…. which is hard when you can’t land nor get in close…..

murderman and Q

agree, Floyd actually does have pop in his punches when he sits down on his punches. Ali was the same. And when you can make a fighter miss, and then counter him, and repeat this enough, the opponent is stopped in his tracks and wears down quicker. I got that tidbit from that Tyson documentary on the philosophy of Cus D’Amato and psychology of fighters, narrated by Steve Lott. Brilliant points.

Cant compare maidana and alvarez? How do you figure? Game plan? What game plan, to keep on getting hit repetitively by being the inside fighter he is. All alvarez fights been in inside and be the same plan against alvarez that he used for floyd but angualo is no near floyd and canelo will win the fight against angualo.

Castillo had two bites at the cherry n lost both times. Maidana doesn’t fight like Castillo n the only thing Broner has similiar to Floyd is one angle of the shoulder roll however there is more than just the shoulder roll to Mayweathers arsenal of getting tat win. Maidana will loose n even KOd.

Marcos won’t KO Floyd, but he might stick Floyd down for the first time in his career

Marcos, in case anyone hasn’t noticed, is a master of his style in walking forward, cutting a ring off and walking a fighter down to land a couple of shots.

Marcos will be there at the last bell and his payday will have been well earned

Broner hurt Maidana towards the end because it was a punch Maidana naively let his guard down after the bell rang. “Protect yourself at all times”

Maidana is still better now than before. His conditioning is better now that he is with Ariza and has longer training camps and better sparring partners. And he will be even better this time around because the focus will be all on him instead of Rios first. Maidana didn’t have a full camp last time out.

Maidana I think also won’t buckle under frustration like many “conventional” boxers do. He is a brawler first even though he can box a bit now.

I’m just pointing out what “helps” favor maidana if any.

the rest is all Floyd.

Now that he is back with his Father, he’ll stick and move first, fight behind the JAB, use angles, etc.

I just wonder when will his age show up a bit more.

I still question his stamina if punched by a younger fighter with great mental and physical endurance.

It’s one thing that I knew was wrong with Hopkins: He was smart enough to make his opponents fight at his pace because he was slowing down overall and his stamina was declining.

Its official. The writer of this article is on drugs! Floyd is bigger, stronger, more skilled, and just way better than broner! Chino doesnt stand a chance! There is a reason dudes dont rush floyd! He is a counter punch master! He hits u just hard enough to keep u off him! I like chino but no way he beats floyd. Hope he gets a huge payday! He deserves it!

Its not that Maidana cant get to Floyd, or that he is to slow, the main problem is that like everyone who has faced him he will burn alot of energy if tries to headhunt and will get picked apart if he tries to wait and time Floyd, and Maidana has the tendancy to fade down the stretch which is not good against any fighter, let alone Floyd, regardless of their style who will keep fighting for 24 rds if they had to. these guys are not scared of getting hit, their scared of getting tired.

Posted February 27, 2014 8:56 pm

Don’t worry bout me if Floyd ever loses it won’t affect me. Yes I’m a fan so what. There are many other fighters I like to. Now when Eoy Jones lost to garbage Tarver, yes I was hurt

I knew the answer. They just don’t get it “Q” nice post.

Dont get me wrong, I respect marcos maidana but no way in chance does he romately have a shot at defeating “God with Gloves”. It will be a unanimous victory decision to mayweather. Case and point, marcos is your typical latino fighter as we are inside fighters and we seen first hand what mayweather does to those type of fighters, Canelo for instance as I called that ud decision for mayweather as most who know boxing. Mayweather will utilize his jabs to keep maidana at bay and get that opening to lay those devestating combos as well frustrate maidana by holding him in the clinch. Mayweather will win the fight as being the grand outside fighter that he is and definitely still has the speed and best defensive skills with rolling, slipping. I wish maidana a great fight and respect him going in the ring with a human chest master like mayweather is as boxing is human chess. Mayweather will get the decision victory.

Actually you can KO someone with 10 oz gloves. Happens all the time in boxing.

Posted February 27, 2014 8:53 pm

You can’t KO a guy if you are wearing a 10 oz gloves.

powerhands: Yes and Yes.

Posted February 27, 2014 8:51 pm

Marcos Maidana has to win the lottery to beat a Floyd Mayweather, land a fluke punch, hope Floyd has a bad night, something like that. Floyd and Manny is the biggest event May can make, someone should be telling the guy that.

Posted February 27, 2014 8:49 pm

Did broner back maidana up anytime during their fight? Did Floyd back canelo up anytime during their fight?

Posted February 27, 2014 8:48 pm

Clock Work: Sigh….. Floyd doesn’t sit in front of guys at first. He goes in and out on you to get you punching so he can set up counters and see what kinds of angles you punch at. If you STOP punching, he proceeds to lead and pick you apart, and if you KEEP punching…. he will step out of your range while countering you in his range (anywhere in the ring as it seems). Floyd just fought Álvarez, who is a bigger faster stronger fighter than Maidana…. so the strength that Maidanna put on Broner is NOT going to be anything special to Floyd.

The problem that Maidana is going to have, is that you have to pay for coming in on Floyd, and he can keep making you pay all night, without getting tired. So what is Maidana going to do COMING IN? He’s not some great jabber or anything…. he’s going to have to get around Floyd’s jab all night, and he will constantly be turned…. and…. HE GOT TIRED AND HURT AGAINST BRONER. Floyd is pushing back 165+ pound champions and stunning them……. I mean seriously. This was a good choice, but it doesn’t mean Maidana has much of a chance. Tested? I think by tested this “writer” means, Floyd was hurt… and Floyd was hurt in the SSM fight. Other than that, how he can say Floyd hasn’t been tested and Maidana has, is beyond me, because it surely can’t be based on opposition (would Maidana not get stopped against Canelo? who knows) Yeah, this is some strange writing right here. What is this?

Posted February 27, 2014 8:47 pm

Of course anything is possible, but I wouldn’t put MY money down on Maidana.

Posted February 27, 2014 8:46 pm

Posted February 27, 2014 8:46 pm

Ray Ray

It’s possible….early rnds r the key 4 Madaina. If Floyd gets his rythem, starts timing Madaina and is allowed 2 fight @ his pace than its a long night 4 Madaina. Every1 has said there going 2 take Floyd out of his comfort zone? Hasn’t happend yet. Lookn 4ward 2 this fight some big 1’s coming up….Sergio v Cotto, Manny v Bradley, Floyd v Madaina….bring it on.

If Maidana is supposedly going to give Mayweather a good battle, what do you think MP would do? I am pulling for Maidana but my gut feel is FM will beat him.

Posted February 27, 2014 8:42 pm

Sounds like people don’t believe Floyd is cherry picking anymore. Nice one author.

Posted February 27, 2014 8:41 pm

Only pacman can KO money! That’s way money won’t fight him!!

Posted February 27, 2014 8:39 pm

Very unprofessional and mediocre …whatever these things are called. How can one report on something with such mediocre knowledge about it?

Posted February 27, 2014 8:39 pm

Clock Work

Who would have thought a Hungry Mayorga would have beaten a top Fighter like Vernon Forrest.

It’s that’s unconventional style of punching Marciano had, Mayorgao had, Maidana has, where the punch seen coming in is anticipated to land in one sport but lands on another catching you off guard.

Maidana is better now than before.

Floyd still should be heavily favored.

Posted February 27, 2014 8:37 pm

Marcos, knock that cherry picking fraud out! That would be good for the game and would teach his clueless nut-hugging followers, dazzled by showbiz hype and bling, some humility and lessons in reality. The old time fighters like Robinson, Pep, Saddler and La Motta sometimes boxed a couple of times a month or more over long, long careers….Ray Leonard would have ko’d Floyd if they were contempories. Floyd would have avoided that fight too…

Bet it dude. I got a few 10 spots on it but don’t bet the farm. Maidana will be the hero

Posted February 27, 2014 8:28 pm

Very very bold Andrew but I think that there is not much chance of that happening

Andrew Hall, If you believe that, then bet the farm.

Posted February 27, 2014 8:19 pm

Maidana has got to jump on Floyd at the opening bell. If he hurts him, he’s got to keep the pressure and try to finish and I’m sure he will try to given the opportunity presents itself. That’s the only way (unless something huge lands out of the blue in later rounds). Floyd by UD otherwise.

Posted February 27, 2014 8:14 pm

O_O lol.

Posted February 27, 2014 8:11 pm

The author is an idiot and just trying to be outrageous.

This is a good fight.

Maidana has a chance.

Maidana is relentless.

Floyd is getting older.

Probably a better fight than Alvarez-Mayweather because Alvarez is too heavy and he gets winded. Maidana is relentless and will put the pressure on the entire fight.

There is a chance that he will connect with a big shot and we will have huge drama.

However, Floyd is still a big favorite.

Posted February 27, 2014 8:09 pm

Maidana jumped on broner immediately. It looked like Adrian has never seen nothing like it. he was backing straight up. He didn’t throw any punches hardly during maidanas first round remember all that talk attack. He put them hands on broner. Broner didnt clinch or nothing. BUT, broner had his moments. The only similar characteristics that Floyd and broner has is, they hold their hands the same. If maidana is so confident, then he must think he’s fighting broner again. Lol! Don’t get me wrong, maidana is a bad man, but my opinion Floyd isn’t losing it. He’s to sharp, and to swift. Maybe that’s what Floyd want is for maiadana to come after him. And he better come different than that same combination that he kept using on broner that didn’t work. Fortunately broner couldn’t see Chinos left hook. Lol! All and all I think Floyd will slow maidana down a bit with blind jabs. The only way I see maidana winning is if like every big puncher that Floyd face that everybody says if they land flush. Great fight though. I can’t wait.

By the time showtime airs their version of 24/7, many more will be thinking Maidana’s going to win. Mayweather is no spring chicken, so it’s possible he could show up as an old fighter at any point now… Still stylistically Mayweayher beats Maidan at just about everything. I once May figures Maidana out and has him timed, I don’t think Maidana is going to be able to avoid any punches at all… late TKO Mayweather…

Posted February 27, 2014 7:54 pm

Your the delusional one!

Maidanas style is nothing FM hasn’t come up against before and he has fought his fair share of hard hitters too.
Castillo fought well but no way did he win. He was game and applied great pressure but still ate 5838483 counters

Dinamita 313

I’m going with Maidana on this one too. It’s gonna b the biggest upset in boxing history.

Posted February 27, 2014 7:52 pm

Maidana is deceptively fast. Not with his hands or feet but he explodes when he attacks, almost like he jumps at the opponent. Once FMJ works out how to defend against those bursts of offense it will be another pot shotting points victory. Maidana might have a chance early but after 3-4 it will be all Mayweather. FMJ UD 12.

r smith

There will be plenty of articles written about how Maidana will be the one to overcome Floyd for one reason or another but we all know that Floyd’s not gonna get tagged and Maidana will be frustrated by the middle rounds; another Mayweather master class

Posted February 27, 2014 7:48 pm

Maidana has the style and power to beat floyd……every punch marcos throws its gonna hurt floyd anywhere he lands………floyd lost to castillo …same way the clown of broner …losy to ponce the leon bfore maidana beat ed him

Posted February 27, 2014 7:48 pm

I agree Castillo won that first fight, but that was a long time ago… Floyd will beat Maidana every round easy. Almost not worth watching….

Posted February 27, 2014 7:45 pm

Your the delusional one!

Peej is on it…

Posted February 27, 2014 7:44 pm

First off Floyd has no losses. The Castillo fight was close and could of gone either way. Does not mean he lost and he rectified that in the rematch. Now you are talking how a swarmer beats a boxer. Guess you missed the Corrales or Hatton fights. lol. Guys just want to get a bunch of responses and causes arguments.

Posted February 27, 2014 7:43 pm

Your the delusional one!

No…Castillo part one was a valient effort and he pushed Floyd close but not close enough
No…Floyd hasn’t improved… But how can you improve all that natural ability! He’s a freak…and still top dog
No…Broner is not as tough or fights anything like Floyd. On the rare occasion Mayweather gets tagged hard, note his reaction. Example: Mosley lands heavy right hand, Floyd dips and is in trouble…BUT hangs in, recovers quickly AND bosses the rest of the round being the aggressor!
No…Maidana cannot win on his skill set alone. He is no standout challenger(he’s great to watch tho)and for me, gets his jackpot payday based on his ethic, attitude and entertainment value.
Yes…..FM will pick a game Maidana apart

You high as hell thinking Money May will get knocked out and in the later rounds at that. He gets strong and sharper as the fight goes on. If he were to get knocked out it would have to be early.
