Many of Ali’s opponents would never make to a title fight in today’s heavyweight world.

You do… You keep posting about them so it’s ripping your heart out they’re so good your favorites can’t compete.

Man USA has no one better than Rahman.
This is sad, I saw Dennis Labeav there too clapping at the end, After his win over RJJ and whoopin Games Toney now Rahman aslo gets waxed in to rounds by European fighter.
And lets add Jameal mickline and a host of others.
They over there laughing, LOL we beat all your great Boxers.
Hope USA gets some Talent In HW divison.
These beat downs are Week.
sad.. sad ..sad

Rahman please retire-PLEASE? How the hell he was a mandatory is crazy as hell, cause I’m very confused on who he defeated to become the number 1 mandatory challenger. Rahman isn’t even giving good fights, I mean he’s str8 getting ass whoopings-the kind that make so wanna look away from the TV got DAMN

clue giver

Povetkin should nottt even be the WBA champion .. Wladimir defeated Haye for the WBA belt which Povetkin has. So what happened immediately after? They stripped Wladimir of the WBA belt and gave him another ‘better’ belt the ‘super wba’ belt and then they had a box off between Povetkin and Chagaev for the WBA belt. It’s ridiculous. Also, Wladimir SHOULD have been the WBA champion long before. Chagaev was the WBA champion and because of his illness could night fight his mandatory. So they had a box off between Valuev and Ruiz in which Valuev won. So both were champions but Chagaev was still the recognized champion. When Wlad was supposed to fight Haye for the 1st time and Haye pulled out he got Chagaev to fight him. As soon as that fight happened the WBA stripped Chagaev of his title so Wladimir would not become WBA champion. Then Haye beat Valuev after pulling out his fight with Vitali and won the WBA belt .. The WBA is a complete joke.

That’s one of the main things that’s wrong with boxing. Having just the wbc and wba once was bad but tolerable. Then came the ibf which I could still accept as passable. But now how many organizations are there? I still can’t even accept afourth one, the wbo.
Regional titles are out of hand also.
It’d be great if the Ring champ was the sole recognized champ.

I said WBA is !

Posted October 1, 2012 9:28 am

Povetkin is the champion. Klitschko is the really, REALLY champion.

Posted October 1, 2012 7:43 am

How can Povetkin and Wlad BOTH be the WBA champion!? How ridiculous.

Posted October 1, 2012 5:29 am

Neil (pomy)

Pulev is a good challenger to any of the champs.

Posted October 1, 2012 3:47 am

agree. I was very impressed with Pulev. Excellent jab, technique, movement, very relaxed and confident. Wlad – Pulev is the fight I want to see. On Povetkin…I think he’s better then what most people think. Beat Byrd and Larry Donald after 15 fights or so…amateur world champ… but that’s what you get if you treat boxing as business rather then as a sport; Haye knows all about it

Bill (KlichKO brothers are the best REAL HEAVYWEIGHTS ever)

Povetkin btched out of the Vladimir KlichKO fight twice already. What has changed since that time? Nothing, I’m sure. Povetkin is a punchbag, his fight with helpless bag Rahman was a waste of good beer for me. Povetkin is a joke, as I said before the fight, Pulev -Ustinov is a fight to ‘wach’, and I was right. Pulev will kick Povetkin’s ass easily, he was very good against Ustinov.

Atlas gave Povetkin the idea of milking his phony title by fighting a bunch of cherry-picks before risking a K Bro or Haye fight.. They found an org who would create a title specifically for AP.. If you’re not good enough to beat a champ, just create a title out of thin air.. It works every time.

Posted October 1, 2012 12:18 am

Now that Povetkin got rid of Teddy Atlas, he wants to fight the Klitschkos. Coincidence? Atlas inspired nothing in Povetkin except a defeatist attitude.

Posted September 30, 2012 9:55 pm

Kudos to Povetkin for finally looking to step up (I’m wondering if Tszyu had a hand in it). Povetkin is a very talented fighter (regardless of what a lot of people say about him), but I don’t think his style matches up well with Wlad.
I think he would be better suited trying to divert and fight Vitali instead (not saying he’d win that either, but at least Vitali will allow him to close the distance).

I thought that Klubrat fought an IBF eliminator with that chubby Valuev clone last night which would make him the next one in line for Klit, provided Klit gets past that big honky.l

Tua??? Fine… Just don’t wake Hasim before noon on a given day.. And make sure there’s a Domino’s within 3 miles of trainng camp.. And sparring parters aren’t necessary so he can save the promoter that expense.. Just make sure a jump rope is available, and a pair of dumbbells for doing curls.

Posted September 30, 2012 6:57 pm

Hazbeeeen looking for a last pay check. he could always fight tua and get 50k

Posted September 30, 2012 6:05 pm

Povetkin knows he’s milked his org title until he’s got chicken fat on it.. He knows he has to step up at long last and fight Wladimir.. He’s willing to take a loss to make a fat paycheck.. He’ll just ask for a 60/40 split in Wladimir’s favor … At that rate Povetkin will be outrageously overpaid, but Wladimir might be forced to swallow it.

Posted September 30, 2012 5:46 pm

Povetkin will try anything to not have to box vs. a Klitschko. Sauerland will “gift” a couple of million to some WBA guys, and suddenly there will be a change of rules. You’ll see.

@Killing Moon The Soothsayer: A modern message board would have allowed me to quote you and put my post directly under yours. ;-)

Posted September 30, 2012 3:41 pm

Pov can’t punch his way out of a wet paper bag? Was very concerned about the vasaline tzyu rubbed in his hair per fight. Bit odd! K kicks his arse quick stylie.

Posted September 30, 2012 2:48 pm

cool . . . Mr. Povetkin

Posted September 30, 2012 2:46 pm

I would definetly love to watch wlad vs povetkin, pulev, etc. Fury, price, helenius, mitchel, wilder, stiverne etc. Or these guys fight eachother. Pulev has definetly made the bst name for himself outside of the klitschkos. Made a better name than haye. Is haye retired again? Isn’t that what haye does after every fight now? Lol

Posted September 30, 2012 2:44 pm

Posted September 30, 2012 2:42 pm

Dan rafael and freddy roach disparaged the wba concisely and accurately. Remember when the screwed chagaev. Gave valuev the belt then just haneed it to haye. Litterally wlad won the wba belt twice. If wlad fights povetkin and wins for a third time some version of wba title I would say yeah, he is super duper wba champ. Wba is garbage. So is povetkin until he steps up. Povetkin has no right to act like seth mitchel and fight bums every time out

Posted September 30, 2012 2:41 pm

What a total load of crap from the ;
” successaful WBA champion ” ! Whom
does he think he’s kidding ? He beats
a walking corps in old Rahman and all
of a suddden he’s ready for Wlad ?
Talk mis cheap , I’ll believe it when he’s in front of the REAL champ , his teeth rattling and his knees knocking .

Posted September 30, 2012 2:37 pm

You know, the promoter says Wlad has until XXX date to fight Povetkin as a mandatory…does anyone remember, it wasn’t WLAD ducking this fight!!!

Posted September 30, 2012 2:27 pm

keep drinking……….. love it good point though

Killing Moon The Soothsayer

A modern Poster would check what he wrote…..that being said….maybe that was the reason the old messageboard had so many posts LOL

Posted September 30, 2012 12:28 pm

A MODERN message board would offer an “edit” option, but ESB decided to cater old folks. :-(

Posted September 30, 2012 12:21 pm

Damn, not “handcuffed in”, but “handcuffed him”, of course.

Posted September 30, 2012 12:20 pm

Povetkin: I would like to fight klitschko…
…if they handcuffed in.

Posted September 30, 2012 12:20 pm

Let’s make it happen…

Oh I forgot. At this day and age, when a match is proposed, it takes about 6 years of buildup before it happens… Oh well, its never too early to start campaigning.

Posted September 30, 2012 12:14 pm

Povetkin wants a payday

Posted September 30, 2012 12:10 pm

So if he being the WBA champ takes on the WBA super champion is the winner the super duper champion or what?F*** u WBA!
