Some person actually said this fight will “…go to the scorecards” @BOXING ART- hahahahaha you don’t really know that much about boxing do you!!
This won’t be a majority draw. Rios gets knocked out. Provodnikov isn’t just a banger. He can box. He took his time with Alvarado because he knew he was going to stop him. He reeled MA in like a swordfish. Let him run, pull him in — repeat. He’ll do the same with Rios.Posted January 22, 2014 8:02 pm
rios another modern day peds cheat period.Posted January 22, 2014 10:27 am
The fight would go to the scorecards with both full of blood and ready to be carted off on wheelchairs. Who knows? There may even be a majority draw. This fight will be boxing’s pale imitation of UFC since Rios and Provodnikov seem to get a special high out of being hit repeatedly — only difference is that Provodnikov may have the edge on hitting much harder. It might be the only tide-turner — if any — with these two fighting.Posted January 22, 2014 2:30 am
Rios is an A-list fighter v. an opponent with an obliging style. i see this matchup as perfect for Rios and Provodnikov who has also never been mistaken for Mayweather or Andre Ward. this will end by 10 and BOTH fighters figure to beat the prime right out of each other. this will be a replay of Rios v. Alvarado I. we know that Rios can handle that kind of give-and-take action from an equally-determined brawler. can Ruslan?Posted January 22, 2014 1:37 am
Rios is going to be brain dead before 35. Rovodnikov hits hard.Posted January 21, 2014 10:28 pm
Also Mr. Izquierdo, Rios as well as his trainer Robert Garcia, contest the manner in which his post fight urine samples were taken. Will this affect the length of his suspension?Posted January 21, 2014 8:54 pm
Ruslan stops Rios inside of 9 rounds. Rios is a C+ level fighter at best.Posted January 21, 2014 8:53 pm
Mr. Izquierdo, how much time remains on Brandon Rios’ suspension? He fought Pacquiao almost two months ago in late November 2013.Posted January 21, 2014 8:47 pm
“how could this guy ever think that anyone would want to see him fight again. ”
Are you kidding? Rios is a very exciting fighter to watch.Posted January 21, 2014 8:43 pm
Rios=Human punching bagPosted January 21, 2014 8:43 pm
“Must clarify all this discussion regarding Rios not being ranked in the WBO top 15.”
Thank you, Mr. Izquierdo.Posted January 21, 2014 8:41 pm

He looked awful in his performance against Packman and due to that fight what or how could this guy ever think that anyone would want to see him fight again. And the other thing, he’s making a huge mistake taking on Provodnikov, wrong match, wrong fighter for Rios … I remember during the Packman fight, the ringside commentators were saying that Rios should take at least a year off so that his brain could try to repair the damage Packman did to it,but apparently he won’t listen to anyone, this isn’t stupid or foolish … it actually quite pathetic ..The boxing dictionary.com .. Jose R. Izquierdo
Must clarify all this discussion regarding Rios not being ranked in the WBO top 15. As you may recall, Rios failed his drug test following his defeat to Manny Pacquiao in Macau, China on November 23. He thus was immediately suspended. For this reason, and until he serves out his suspension, the WBO dropped him from its rankings.
The premise of this article in “that the WBO will come to the rescue” of Rios is entirely wrong. There is a reason why he is not ranked (suspension) and once the suspension is lifted, he will once again be classified.

Good comment’s.Posted January 21, 2014 4:28 pm
Bradley vs pac ” 2 ”
Provkonov vs Rios…
MIKE PEREZ vs DENIS BOYTOV…, two one time undefeated guys comming off their first defeats.
ROBERT HELENIUS vs TONY THOMPSON,… or
LUCAS BROWNS VS RUSLAN CHAVGAEV…
I would watch any any of those fights on HBO individually but collectively I would pay 50 bucks to see a card with any combination of the above fights, 3 solid fights that could be put togather for cheap.
Come HBO get busy for April.Posted January 21, 2014 3:39 pm
Let’s see what happens when he sticks his tongue out at Provodnikov.Posted January 21, 2014 2:24 pm
This fight will be a war if it comes off one that Rios will lose.Posted January 21, 2014 11:27 am
You idiots are gonna get the human punching bag seriously hurt. Provonikov continually punching him in the head could actually get him killed in the ring. Obviously that what you want to see, so pay for it then.Posted January 21, 2014 9:22 am
Foty easyPosted January 21, 2014 8:12 am
Rios Provodnikov? Sure, I’ll buy it. There aren’t a lot of action fighters these days, and these two will surely go at it.Posted January 21, 2014 4:37 am
it’s hilarious to go on boxing forums every few days reading the insults and cowardly lions putting down fighters and trying to sound like experts. have you ever noticed that people that have boxed or are involved in the sport rarely speak an ill word about top tier fighters. brandon rios has a world class chin, brings it every time and was in over his head against pacquiao. however he beat one of the former 140lb. campions, took everything pacquiao had and is no espn fighter. i like to see all the smack talkers walk into a gym or walk up to a world class fighter and tell him what you all say here.you wouldn’t unless you were piss drunk and didn’t mind getting k.t.f.o. in public. it’s nice to have passion about sport but sometimes this just gets annoying. brandon was in awe of manny from the moment he got off the plane and met him and manny played him like a fiddle being friendly during the whole tour.brandon rios is good for boxing and don’t be surprised if ha gets the bradley fight and knocks him out.provodnikov maybe not,but it would be war.Posted January 21, 2014 3:29 am
I’d enjoy Rios vs Provo. While Rios seems to be eroding he’ll fight his best and his hard head will be tough for Provo to try and crack. Both are game fighters.Posted January 21, 2014 3:12 am
It can be a career ending fight for Rios !!!Posted January 21, 2014 2:41 am
The team around Rios must hate him
Provo would damage Rios. Seriously damage him.Posted January 21, 2014 2:35 am
I think this fight can be all bad for RiosPosted January 21, 2014 2:25 am
Azzbox truth is your grandmother would have looked good against Rios…lolPosted January 21, 2014 2:07 am
Manny looked good cause he is an 8 division champ he looks good against anyonePosted January 21, 2014 1:39 am
If this fight ever gets made it will be an all action war till it last . come on guys this fight would be a fight of the year candidate .. I know Rios has not won in his last two fights but his style of fighting plus Provodnikov style of fighting is guarantee a war . What would you rather watch a rematch of Bradley vs Alexander or Rios vs Provodnikov .Posted January 21, 2014 12:30 am

Spot on Hidalgo. With this TR & GBP issue, fights are limited. The MMA do the same thing. But there’s positive thing about this. Being a loser doesn’t mean being uncompetitive. Slugger vs slugger could good.Posted January 20, 2014 9:45 pm

“It’s the quality if the fight! This will be an action pact fight!”
Right on, Havoc. Besides, the fight hasn’t been made yet and there’s no guarantee that even if it was made, that Prov’s title would be on the line. That’s all just talk at this point.Posted January 20, 2014 9:31 pm
Sorby wrote: “The criticism that would come from Rios fighting for a world title against Provodnikov or Bradley stems from the fact that Rios has lost his last two fights and isn’t ranked in the top 15 at either 140 or 147.”
Excerpt from WBO regulations:
SECTION 36. EXCEPTION TO THE REGULATIONS
The World Championships Regulations may be amended at any time, with respect to any aspect, through an exception or special case, provided the amendment is approved by the majority vote of the World Championship Committee and the Executive Committee.
So, even though Rios isn’t rated within the top 15 welterweights or jr. welterweights, an exception could be made for him to fight Provodnikov. To my knowledge all the major sanctioning bodies have a similar clause in their regulations. The WBC for instance, allows such fights to happen when there is overwhelming public demand for a particular fight or that such a fight would be in the best interests of boxing (I’m paraphrasing here. Look up the WBC rules yourself).
Besides, don’t be so anxious to under-rate Rios. He has a lot more power than Tim Bradley and he’s got a lot of heart, courage, and he’s tough as nails. Plus, Rios is an excellent inside fighter.
Provodnikov/Rios would be a helluva undercard for a Pac/Bradley rematch.Posted January 20, 2014 9:29 pm
