So he turns down the fight triple g to rematch this guy? Hmmm. Interesting!Posted October 2, 2014 8:55 am
Poor Vera, whats up with his eyes? Looks like he’s had his egg scrambledPosted January 17, 2014 9:30 pm
JOSEPH: Thanks for your clarification. Hopefully Vera will not be cheated out of a victory if the scores are close since he doesn’t have the name like Jr. does.Posted January 17, 2014 12:19 pm
MMendoza: “Vera and Chavez Jr. are wearing the same polo shirts from last fight. How quaint!! ESB likes to use the same pictures over and over again — they get fixated that way.”
Mendoza, this was a press release announcing the press conference and published before the event took place…of course it’s going to be an older picture from their meeting in 2013.
Yesterday’s presser is in the article posted later in the day.Posted January 17, 2014 3:39 am
I saw Lennox Lewis sending his regards to Sulaiman at Twitter. I don’t wish ill health on anyone but the WBC did more damage to the sport we love than any other group under his “leadership.” Sorry not gonna mourn this one.Posted January 17, 2014 3:22 am

So long, Jose. Vaya con dios.Posted January 16, 2014 10:28 pm
LIKE IT IS
What? I should be glad he’s gone from the sport but not glad he’s dead. Too early to tell but his son might be a shadier and have the fans wishing that Don Jose was back. Telling it LIKE IT IS.Posted January 16, 2014 10:05 pm

Glad to see Jnr hasn’t given Froch and Matchroom an out for the Groves rematch!

I expect trainer Ronnie Shields to insist that this fight be set for no more than 168Lbs. The Chavez camp blamed the sudden weight drop and lack of prime conditioning for his poor performance. What “sudden” weight drop. He was advised 3 months ahead of time to be at 160Lbs, then 162 Lbs, and then 165Lbs, then once more at 168Lbs, then they wanted to negotiate for 170Lbs, which Team Chavez reneged on as well. Eventually the Vera Team accepted the 173Lbs limit and received a chunk of Jr’s purse but it was Junior that received a rather dubious decision. This one should be interesting. With all the weight controversy I openly picked Vera to upset Chavez Jr the first time with the possibility of a bogus decision, which seemed the case. I’d like to see Vera take this one but.. I don’t believe he will, not this time. Peace!Posted January 16, 2014 6:21 pm
Vera comes from a tuff boxing family…it’s always a special pleasure to see the underdog, who has been entertaining the fans for decades, get their chance.Posted January 16, 2014 5:45 pm
How much does Chavez Jr weigh? Make him get on the scale at the press conference.Posted January 16, 2014 4:52 pm
If you guys are in the SA area, come out and say “Hello”!! Local favorite Bam Bam Najera will also be in attendance passing out T-shirts!!
Come out and support Big Time boxing in San Antonio!!Posted January 16, 2014 3:04 pm
Vera a “TOP FIVE” contender?? He is?? At which weight division?? 168?? I don’t think so. 160?? No way!! Ya gotta like a game & tough guy like Vera but.. They’re trying way to hard to hype this fight up. They actually don’t have to, due to all the controversy in their previous fight the fans will tune, no doubt, peace!Posted January 16, 2014 1:59 pm
Khan’s Cuz Achmed
