Reading the posts thoroughly, I have to say that I also agree with BustaJay and hookoffthejab, all of the arguments have merits. My bad, sometimes speed reading has it’s disadvantages.Posted November 20, 2013 2:25 am
So now, back to boxing. I agree with tark, the more unnecessary bulk you have on your muscles, the more they require oxygen, thus making your lungs work harder to pump in air, plus your heart needs to pump more oxygen-carrying blood to them. Like tark said, a fighter doesn’t need to bulk up, it’s a question of optimal strength to mass ratio, stamina and endurance i.e., the period before muscle fatigue sets in, and speed of reflexes, i.e., the time it takes for the muscle to contract and relax for every signal the brain sends for a specific movement or maneuver.
In boxing, muscles do not necessarily equate to power. There are fighters who look flabby but who pack wallops in their shots, as there are those who look impressively huge and muscle -bound but can’t topple whipped cream with their nest shots.Posted November 20, 2013 1:06 am
@ha -you said “…..The Phils is the door mat of asia……”
The Philippines is categorized as an NIC (Newly Industrialized Country)
And nope, The Chinese hate Americans the most, the number one country on their hate list, then second comes Japan, then Russia and India. The rest of the countries, e.g. Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines etc. are distributed evenly. Only selected counties in Europe are not on that list.
Does your ignorance and stupidity stem from blind hate? If so, then that is just pathetic.Posted November 20, 2013 12:23 am

The central nervous system includes your brain and spinal cord and connects to your muscles through the peripheral nervous system. Thus the central nervous system controls your muscles. When you contract a muscle, a message goes down your brain and spinal cord where it eventually connects to the individual muscle motor units through something called a neuromuscular junction. The muscle receives your message telling it to contract, fires, and tension is generated. The heaver the load lifted the faster your CNS must fire its messages……The CNS is everything ..It is the control system of the body …Look at the Olympic lifters and the massive weights they hoist compared to body builders whom train for the PUMP …….Boxers need to train the CNS using heavy weight and PLYOmetrics using equipment and bodyweight ………………………….Posted November 19, 2013 4:47 pm

Just a boxing fan
If you want boxing at its best (boring for casual boxing fans), watch PBF.
If you want to see a fight (exciting for most people) watch MP.
No hate no nut hugging just boxing.
IMO the genius boxer and the fighting machine is still the best fight that needs to be made.
Rios is a game and brave fighter but I see him losing by TKO middle to late rounds.Posted November 19, 2013 10:26 am
Public Enemy – you thrashtalking of Mexican is as boring as hecdog and Chicago Guy praising Manny and calling him the greatest fighter that ever lived with his him face first down in the canvas. Canelo never said nor drank his own urine dumb ass.Posted November 19, 2013 9:58 am
Hecdog – Duran, Foreman, Leonard are paid by Top Rank /Arum for their comments, what do you think their gonna say about the cash cow. Bob is cashing out on Rios to take lumps while making Manny look good to his fans who know little about boxing, make no mistake here, you being set up and you have fallen for it hook, line and sinker.Posted November 19, 2013 8:49 am

hookoffthejab…, You’re crap about the nervous system is stupid. A boxer needs to train the muscles to be more responsive, stronger, faster, and more durable.. He needs it all.. A proven method is by 10 to 15 rep range, no more than 3 sets, and stopping when your form, speed, or smoothness starts to suffer — instead of going to failure… That way you don’t tax your muscles, or nervous system, will recover more quickly, can do your boxing workout with no fall off, and won’t blow up into a higher weight divisions.Posted November 19, 2013 4:20 am

Anonymous is me HecDog. Manny out sells any athlete world wide.Posted November 19, 2013 4:06 am
Ha ha ha sells more world wide? Is that what the PPV numbers say? Answer, No. Anyways hope manny gets back 2 his best. My gripe is not with manny tge fighter….its his doushbag promoter and his pathetic 1 eyed fan boys….Manny will get his ass handed 2 him again b4 his done. 100% no doubt. He should fight Garcia? Unification bout, bring that on. Im sure Manny would love 2, not so sure Arum wants that.Posted November 19, 2013 4:02 am
World wide, no one sells more than the fighter of the decade, Manny Pacquiao. The world’s eyes are glued to the TV. This is without a doubt the most anticipated fighter in the history of sports. I continue to hear comments from people that come from all walks of life. Manny is so respected by everyone. Just listen to the talk from such legends as Duran, Tyson, Leonard even Ped Man Marquez. There’s excitement in the air. Manny Pacquiao is back. The ONLY 8 division boxing champion in history will enter the squared circle once again, and no one in their right mind is going to miss this fight. The parties have started already. Floyd Mayweather is trembling at the mere thought of stepping in the same ring as Manny, and he’s hoping that Manny loses. The story has been written already, and everyone that follows boxing knows that Floyd has always been scared to fight the legend that is Manny Pacquiao. Floyd is taking a back seat to the legend. Manny wins before 9 rounds in devastating fashion. The king of boxing is back.Posted November 19, 2013 3:54 am
No this wont b Pacs last fight….id b more concerned 4 him with who could b waiting next? Garcia or prod…..Ha ha ha as if Arum will let that happen. And pactards call Floyd a ducker? Bobby wont let Bradley near Floyd either, after Floyd whoops his ass the gloss would b gone 4 Bradley Manny2. How come iv not read anything on Manny fighting Garcia? U no the guy with 2 straps in the same weight as him…nothing heard or read on a possible fight between manny and Prod the russian tank either? Toprank so easy 2 predict? Wonder who Manny is fighting next?Posted November 19, 2013 3:49 am
It will be an exciting fight. Guarantee! Unlike the sweet science aka snoozer style that relies on points this one has KO written all over it. Boxing is alive again.Posted November 19, 2013 2:35 am
ha you comment is total wrong. Chinese don’t like Japanese and rightly so the killed 30 million Chinese during WWII. Chinese have a small amount of tension over some islands but other than that they like and respect the Philippines.Posted November 19, 2013 1:47 am
Chinese people don’t like Pacquiao. It doesn’t matter how many chinese televisions there are. The Phils is the door mat of asia. They only want Manny there because he is a degenerate gambler.Posted November 19, 2013 12:38 am
Tark give it a rest the what a load of dribble firstly when training for strength you dont train muscles you train your nervous system ..This is how you get stronger muscles dont contract themselves the nervous system does ..And if you want to be STRONGER FASTER etc you keep the rep range low 1 too 3 reps maybe a little higher when warming up with long periods of rest …For hypertrophy the rep range is higher and the rest periods are shorter …. You can also train for metabolic responses by training a mix of strength and hypertrophy and keeping the rest periods to a minimal ……Posted November 19, 2013 12:32 am
Well…, If you want to add weight and strength for higher weight divisions you can go to failure on your sets… Not a “grunting” or “cheating” failure though. If you can’t complete a rep smoothly you’re done. But then you lift weights on a different day than you spar.. So you spar up to 12 rounds, but only 3 days a week — and lift 3 alternate days.. But if you intend to stay in the same weight class for a while, you stop each set before you fail—and you’re going to be stronger P4P anyway. Going to “GIVE ME ONE MORE” failure is for football linemen and body builders. It’s not good for your heart, kidneys, capillaries, etc. The idea is to train not strain.Posted November 19, 2013 12:04 am
And I’m not saying that with sarcasm, Tark. The little man was looking really big in the shoulders, back , and arms.Posted November 18, 2013 10:46 pm
“You’ll get stronger more slowly, but you’ll still get unbelievably strong in a few years. Your muscles will be denser and stronger but not bulkier.”
Apparently, Marquez went through a lot of “fails” on the way to building his new body for his last two fights with Pacquiao.Posted November 18, 2013 10:46 pm
Brandon Rios says.., “The 2nd Alvarado fight was also the first time I ever lifted weights and by the third round I was slowing down.”
That’s because you lifted weights WRONG for a boxer…
A boxer doesn’t go to failure on any set. Going to failure breaks your muscles down, bulks them up, and makes it harder to make weight on weigh-in day. Use dumbbells—not barbells—so each arm can work independently. That way you can turn your wrists for bench presses and isolate the triceps. You can alternate curls with each hand like you punch. Do each repetition as hard, fast, and smooth as possible—making sure your form is perfect, and go through the full range of motion for each repetition. When you can do 15 repetitions, add enough weight to drop down to 10 reps—then work back up to 15 reps.
As soon as you lose speed or form you STOP the set you’re doing.
Don’t grunt out another rep or go to failure, EVER!!! So you don’t tax your muscles and make them grow—so You don’t get tired when you spar. Never do more than 3 sets of any one exercise and rest for 3 minutes between each set. Remember, you’re looking for strength, speed, flexibility, compactness, and range of motion—not size.
You’ll get stronger more slowly, but you’ll still get unbelievably strong in a few years. Your muscles will be denser and stronger but not bulkier. You won’t get sore if you lift right. You can spar four hours after strength training without getting tired or losing effectiveness.Posted November 18, 2013 9:29 pm
Mayweather is boring, sold 800-000 v Guerrero, sold 2.3 mill with canelo, Boxing is worldwide, can’t wait for the Pacquiao fight.Posted November 18, 2013 9:07 pm
Pac-Man vs. Rios will be exciting while it lasts and will have more drama in a single round than Mayweather-Canelo had in twelve.Posted November 18, 2013 8:48 pm
They said the PPV is gonna be like 5 bucks in china. And I they never mention anything on what is sold around the world. And like I said, there is a reason why Floyd’s demands a bigger piece of the pie. He can sel a mil with the unknown Guerrero and Pac is barely expected to sell 750 against the known Rios. Terrible how bad the Pac stock has fallenPosted November 18, 2013 8:44 pm
