at least ggg comes to fight. unlike wlad clenchko.Posted November 13, 2013 4:35 pm
Quillin is rubbish. They must be lining up to fight him. He’s a weak world champion. Tark is wrong. Barker, Sturm and Geale would beat him. And Murray would smash him to bits. Golovkin and Murray are the best two middleweights around by far. Murray got robbed against Martinez. There’s no doubt Murray should be the world champion after that fight. If they fight again in the UK Murray will knock Martinez out for sure. But Martinez will never fight him again.Posted November 13, 2013 3:37 am
Hamster.., “When people bring up GGG with Quillin he just talks about wanting big money for it.
Because he knows it would likely be his last big payday.”
Right… Quillin was such a powerhouse in his last fight, and chased an oft beaten Rosado out of the ring.Posted November 12, 2013 5:48 pm
Quillin will never get into a ring with Golovkin, never! He is a chicken fake champion…………….Posted November 12, 2013 1:43 am
When people bring up GGG with Quillin he just talks about wanting big money for it.
Because he knows it would likely be his last big payday.Posted November 12, 2013 1:12 am
Forman got*Posted November 12, 2013 1:04 am
Tark / that’s exactly right ,I like to add also a gift decision Forman over axel Shultz a c+ heavy at best !Posted November 12, 2013 1:03 am
Barker, Sturm, and Geale would not beat Quillin… Don’t give PQ any reason to fight those guys because that’s what he wants to do. He was talking Barker the other day because he knows the guy is an easy mark.
I agree Murray would beat Quillin.. I don’t think you’ll see that fight.Posted November 12, 2013 12:27 am
After watching Quillian recently I promise you Murray would beat the living crap out of him easily. Quillian is a joke! He’s crap! I couldn’t believe how crap he was. Barker, Sturm, Geale and certainly Murray would beat Quillian. Kid Chocolate? More like Kid Crap. I don’t think Quillian could beat Billy Joe Saunders! That’s how crap Quillian is!!
How many punchers has Andre Ward ever fought?Posted November 11, 2013 9:42 pm
Sredmond.., “Vitali Klitschko’s resume is littered with suspect opposition.” … No it’s not.
In FACT, VK KO’d a lot of people who had NEVER been knocked out before.. Guys like Larry Donald, Vaughn Bean, Chris Arreola, Tomasz Adamek, and about 10 others.. But you wouldn’t be impressed regardless of what he did … because he’s a Ukrainian.
When Foreman came back at age 38 he KO’d about 20 tomato cans to pad his record — before he went for the title and lost… When Vitali came back at 37 he fought for the Heavyweight Championship in his FIRST fight back — against a very tough MFer who had never been stopped before in 31 fights.. Naturally Vitali scored the stoppage.Posted November 11, 2013 7:53 pm
Quillin wants absolutely no part of GGG unless it is for a massive cashout. He would get absolutely stomped.Posted November 11, 2013 7:08 pm
Id rather see him fight Danny Jacobs or Quillan even though KC didn’t perform well last time ,this Murray fight sucks. Just my opinionPosted November 11, 2013 6:23 pm
huhhh cherrypickin azz GGGPosted November 11, 2013 6:15 pm
But is there anyone you would take a 50-50 bet on vs GGG if the fight happened in 6 months time at Middleweight (e.g. enough for them to get fit/have a tuneup etc)?
I`m not asking if there are people with better fighters on their record, I am talking an assessment of ability to perform in a near future fight.
Anyway looks like Murray has refused this fight, despite being mandatory challenger. This is getting stupid – his name can go alongside Sturm, Geale and Mundine who actively ducked ordered fights, and Quillin who makes up a new excuse every 10 minutes.Posted November 11, 2013 5:36 pm
Cyber Hamster, if you think that Stevens is proof positive of GGGs response “to a puncher” then by all means enjoy your sense of comfort… The guys Stevens was blasting were not decorated fighters again the heavy matchmaking is geared to make guys look good on the way up..I have no issue saying that people trying to sell Golovkin “as the most fearsome guy in boxing” or the guy that the Mayweathers, Martinez and Wards are losing sleep over is” is SERIOUS overhyping relative to the league he’s been fighting in, Sergio having trouble after facing BIG, Strong MWs like Chavez and Murray back to back is what can happen when you are NOT banging on washed up 154 pounders or failed 175 pounders… GGG is being brought along that’s why he’s staying at 160 and facing unheralded boxers… Tark NOT so long ago was calling Martinez an ATG or HOFEr now he’s dismissing him as “just another easy kill for Golovkin”… Sergio getting up there and coming off surgeries so it will be interesting to see how he rebounds, that said he’s still the MW King and he’s worked for his record and standing…Posted November 11, 2013 6:28 am
Tark, that was addressed to Turbo Hamster
The King speaks and his minions run wild, Lol when did I say GGG “has to stop everyone” what I said was “I doubt he stops Murray” and Turbo “asked me why” point is GGG has not been wiping out high quality fighters and thus I am not gonna assign him a KO win over a Tough, Strong MW like Martin Murray unless I see it with my own eyes…Some of you guys are so smitten with this fighter banging out the dregs at 160 that you think no ones gonna see the bell..Posted November 11, 2013 6:08 am
Sred sez.., “The notion that GGG’s gonna stop every single fighter he faces strikes me as amateur..”
Who came up with that notion? Sredmond, inventing what GGG fans believe.
GGG doesn’t have to KO everybody. He happens to have the highest KO ratio in World Championship History… He’s ahead of Marciano, V. Klitschko, Foreman, Tyson, Dempsey, Zarate, Monzon, and every other champ in fistic history.
If Sergio Martinez went 12 rounds with GGG he’d take one monster beating.. Sergio can take a shot and deliver one — but I believe he’s going out with one of those liver shots because he’s a southpaw.
Macklin.., “Kriiiiiips.. I can still feel the pain. It felt like somebody drove my liver into my kidney and squashed them both in a vice.”
The G-Man can lay those body shots in there.Posted November 11, 2013 2:02 am
Lol so now sredmond set a new standard for ggg , in his words ggg has to stop every opponent he face anything short then that it will be a failure in the “eyes”of sredmond and later probably he will say ggg needs to stop everyone in 2 rounds max . Lol …..
So many post by sredmodel about ggg uffff… It must hurt badley …Posted November 10, 2013 11:32 pm
Actually to think of all this another way – because we can discuss records till the cows come home, and a guy who has been afforded the time and chances to fight higher level is going to have higher level wins – but lets say
At MW limit…
Would you take a 50-50 / evens bet on any of those guys to beat GGG in a fight in 6 months time?
If your position is that people shouldn`t talk GGG up too much because there are unknowns – then fair enough – the counterpoint would be that you can`t talk him down too much for the same reason, but even recognizing those two bookends of the debate people will have an opinion that they`d hand their money on.Posted November 10, 2013 11:32 pm
I`m not particularly high on Stevens as an opponent. Quillin appeared to be, he was talking about he and Stevens fighting a unification after Stevens beat GGG (though he went silent on a unification AGAINST GGG).
I`m only really discussing Stevens as his last opponent, and what might be drawn from it. Stevens is sub world class – but has previously been outboxed, and treated with a certain degree of respect for his power while being defeated – at a a higher weight.
There was the question of what happens when GGG is landed on by a puncher – and we got our answer – nothing. He adapted and went straight back to work.Posted November 10, 2013 11:22 pm
“Stevens is a puncher” all this desire to inflate Stevens is simply a play to imbue GGG with attributes he might not have… Stevens has been figured out on more than one occasion and the losses he booked give us the profile of a sub World Class Boxer…Again you are forces to draw inferences from these opponents because Golovkin is not beating a strong class of fighter at this point… The notion that he’s gonna stop every single fighter he faces strikes me as amateur..Posted November 10, 2013 10:58 pm
There are EURO fighters and there are EURO stars
Bad idea, good fighter but GGG is exceptional. Takes punches but, really knows his craft. Every punch is methodical. Very good trainer behind him. Looks like a natural middleweight, don’t believe the rubbish that’ll move up.Posted November 10, 2013 10:47 pm
I`m personally not 100% sure what to make of Murray, he is a big strong tough middle, who has never displayed the flashiness that would grab the attention, but comes forward with a good defence making himself very hard to beat conclusively, even if he himself doesn`t necessarily dominate.
Stevens if nothing else is acknowledged as a puncher, and if GGG can happily play the role of calculated aggressor with him, I see the same with Murray, with Murray being put back into his shell after trying to exchange early on.
I think GGG will go forward though and fight with enough aggression, openness and variety in his head/body work to break Murray down – albeit taking some return fire as the tax for that gameplan, because that is his inclination to aggressively create openings.
I don`t think GGG needs to beat Martinez to become no1 any more. Much as I respect SM, Murray beat him, and Murray is noones consensus no1. Cotto won`t be no 1 MW if he beats SM either.
I consider results and performances over the last couple of years to be most important – and the guys who could be ranked above GGG won`t fight him, and the common opponents he has with those guys, he is performing far better against.Posted November 10, 2013 10:37 pm
My 1st time on this site but i see people are just like on other sites. rax i find your anwer very strange, you say you are this knowledgeable fan then do nothing but slate ggg. Im a boxing fan 1st & formost & i look at each fighter individually. Ggg is one of the elite ( in my humble opinion ). How do i get that opinion , easy, its in how he deals with his opponents. Lots of people criticise floyd mayweather in cherry picking, they say he took that fight knowing he could beat the guy & he usually does beat the guy easily. Thats what also makes him so special. They make it look easy but other fighters fighting those same guys struggle. They are at least evenly matched. Ggg has that je ne sais quois. Its hard to describe but when you see it you see it. I bet on fights & i win quite good money so i have to know my fighters & he is a guy right now at middleweight who is going to keep winning.Posted November 10, 2013 9:59 pm
Cyber-Hamster, Murray is a physically strong MW, he has experience and he’s never been stopped right now you think GGG’s gonna stop every guy he faces because of his success with a really LOW caliber of opponent… Like I said I don’t see him stopping Murray, of course you will argue the contrary if the fight happens we can cast aside speculation..Posted November 10, 2013 9:07 pm
GGG never eat Dirrell in the pros and the reason you are discussing amateur highlights is because of the absence of quality as int pertains to his resume… Stopping Martinez leftover isn’t he current highlight of of his career and holding out Stevens as fearsome threat is just SAD for a guy you are selling as “the boogeyman”Posted November 10, 2013 9:03 pm
SREDMOND I am interested as to why exactly you don`t think GGG can stop Murray.
We all know he hasn`t done it yet – we can look at boxrec, and we can all shower plaudits on people who do something good after it has happened.
I`m more interested in what it is in your analysis of GGG that you think makes Murray a bad matchup for him.Posted November 10, 2013 6:08 pm
This will be one hell of a fight. 3G is taking on all comers. Gotta like this kid.Posted November 10, 2013 4:07 pm
Why not in Britain to bring out best in Murray to make it extra hard forGGG? This fight will sell out MEN are an a in Manchester not far from Murray.true champions travel the world and beat challengers in their backyard ( take note flloyd) . overall this would be a good test from a genuine contenderPosted November 10, 2013 2:47 pm
But Stevens suppose to be a power puncher ? Hell, direll ran all night against him didn’t even dare to engage …. But where do you put macklin?? Both macklin and Murray fared the same against strum both got robbed … So for you macklin dosent count but Murray does ? Lol …
Got news for you model boy , ggg is there and will mop the floor with whoever he faces get use to it , sorryPosted November 10, 2013 11:53 am
Good fight…and a fair test for GGG…should be a great fight to watch…Posted November 10, 2013 11:45 am
Credit to GGG if he takes the fight, martin is a tough barstewerd he also has underrated skills.Murry has been put in the who needs him club by some bad judges, this should be a good fight if both men get a fair shake.Posted November 10, 2013 10:06 am
SREDMOND BELOWPosted November 10, 2013 9:44 am
Adrian, I know that I haunt your dreams but truth be told Murray is a step in the right direction and definitely above Stevens class… He’s a legit strong MW, I don’t see Golovkin stopping him the way he has the unranked sofa padding he has primarily defeated this far…But alas we gotta see the actually happenPosted November 10, 2013 9:44 am
Mick the Marmalizer
It’s apparent that HBO want Golovkin/Murray in the USA, which can’t happen due to Murray’s visa problems, so how about putting it on in Canada where the time difference is similar?Posted November 10, 2013 5:45 am
Thanks James Slater for rehashing my previous posts :) I should get royalties for your article.
Murray would beat any middleweight in the world, but I can’t see him beating Golovkin.

Posted November 9, 2013 9:33 pm
Lol punchkey I was just going to ask him the same question …. Btw
Murray will give GGG a good fight for as long as it lasts, but GGG will stop him. This guy isn’t going to get beat any time soon.Posted November 10, 2013 2:03 am
Will give triple g a good test. But i think triple g will past w late k.o.Posted November 10, 2013 1:45 am
Old School Rules
Murray has a solid chance of taking GGG the distance. He’s a big MW at 6’0 and close to 175 lbs, and he’s very durable. If he stays behind his high guard and uses his jab to keep Golovkin off of him, I could see him making it 12 rounds. But if he exchanges with GGG he’s gone.
Should be a great fight. Can’t wait.Posted November 10, 2013 1:00 am
GGG = HYPE!Posted November 10, 2013 12:47 am

Tax why are you talking to yourself (Woop Woop)Posted November 9, 2013 9:33 pm
woop woop – i thought i was the only one who had some perspective when it comes to GGG – i’ve been a fan of Golovkin since i saw him fight in japan in 2001. it has slowly broken my heart how his record has been padded with 154 pounders like ishida and rosado and other guys like curtis stevens who had done absolutely nothing to deserve the fight.
hit annd hope
Think murray would beat most at middle i had him beating sergio but ggg think he might end up being one of the special ones and no one with a title is gonna touch himPosted November 9, 2013 9:08 pm
Sergio hiding under the bed told his promoter don’t answer phone if triple G calls.Posted November 9, 2013 9:06 pm

You gotta admire Murray if he takes this
I like Woop Woop Because he is such you a$$hole:)Posted November 9, 2013 8:29 pm
Martinez is injured and doesn’t Quillin fight on Showtime? Chavez Jr has moved up to cruiserweight (probably), Sturm and Barker are fighting in December with a rematch clause for next year. Who else is left?Posted November 9, 2013 8:26 pm
Not a bad fight, I would prefer Maravilla, Quillin, Geale, Sturm or Barker but Martin Murray is another solid opponent for Golovkin to walk through. It’s not as if the other champions are fighting better guys.Posted November 9, 2013 8:21 pm
GGG targeting more of Martinez scraps and a guy who couldn’t beat Sturm. Of course then his co-promoter realises that Murray is an actual Middleweight and discards the challenge of Murray in true GGG form. Again GGG will be looking for an unranked, injured, smaller guy and probably with 12+ months lay-off. This is his Modus Operandi and has been for years while all the suckers get excited by the illusion of his hype train barrelling down the track. Chooooooo Chooooooooo!!!!!Posted November 9, 2013 8:18 pm
man, i wanted sergio vs ggg. anyways, murray beat martinez imo, so this is cool i guess.Posted November 9, 2013 7:51 pm
I like Murray and would love to see him become world champion he could easily beat barker. And would beat Martinez outside of Argentina. But not ggg I think he would be a great challenger ggg hardest to date but would be wise to avoid this guyPosted November 9, 2013 7:45 pm
