Garcia DOES DESERVE this fight OVER Kahn; the thing is, judging by Garcias words during Kid Chocolates fight, he doesnt seem to care much for the fight! Theres gotta be more desire than necessary on Garcias part. Nothing GREAT was ever accomplished without an inordinate amount of desire.

The “TITLE” to this piece written by Paul Strauss is on POINT!! THAT will be the difference in the fight,….”IF” the fight does come off!! A “jittery” fast guy that thinks WAY to much of himself due to a fast twitch “natural” speed that MANY are BORN with (heck, I was BORN with this “gift”!! Ive had ADVANTAGES in many sports, but I could have done BETTER if I thought out [being more calm & collective] what I was doing in the MIDST of the play or the tactic!!) against a SEASONED THINKER that WASTES NO physical MOTION in the ring; Mayweather has DELIBERATE motions that serve a purpose; NOT FRENETIC SCHIZOPHRENIA movements that appear to SURPRISE the possessor of the gift as well as the onlookers that appreciate something out of the ordinary!!

The Money Team could be using Khan as a smokescreen to elevate the GARCIA fight. We are all so angry with Khan that we will make it clear we will shell out for GARCIA rather than that charlatan AMIR.

SWIFT definitely deserves the chance over Amir.
SWIFT stopped Amir in good fashion.
SWIFT defeated MATTHYSSE on Money’s undercard and is probably the next best challenger if he steps up to 147.
Khan ducked out of a challenge to IBF titlist DEVON ALEXANDER and really should be pushed to the back of the queue and earn his shot or get a rematch with SWIFT.

There is no logic that sees Khan get the shot before SWIFT, but in boxing LOGIC just went out the window, slamming it shut behind it!!!!

Posted November 10, 2013 3:50 pm

funny how khan never wants a rematch with guys that have knocked him spark out.

Posted November 10, 2013 9:12 am

Khan is “Jittery”

That just about sums him up

Posted November 10, 2013 4:56 am

Did Khan’s speed trouble Prescott, Peterson, Garcia or Diaz? No it did not. So why do people keep saying Khan’s so-called speed will trouble Floyd? it won’t. Please don’t let this fight happen, it will kill boxing, Khan is washed up and looking for a retirement pay day !!

Posted November 10, 2013 2:31 am

oh yea and Floyd will decimate Khan.

Posted November 9, 2013 11:55 pm

Genuine Question before anyone gets all butt hurt.
Are the pain killing injections Floyd uses legal outside of Nevada ???

Posted November 9, 2013 11:54 pm

Liver Shot

Floyd crushes Kahn inside of 5 rounds, save your money.

Posted November 9, 2013 9:02 pm

The Honeybadger

Agreed with the author, but Money really has never been 45-0, not since Castillo I! Khan is no bum, but he was actually better with Roach! Only real threat/weapon Khan has is that bodyshot, but rarely even uses it.

Posted November 9, 2013 8:22 pm

Jonn E. JaGozza

Khan is a blown up Paulie Magglioggi He has some decent speed but no power and this fight wont go past 5 rounds. I like the idea of the winner of Cotto/Camelo to face GGG then that winner to face Mayweather but Khan vs Mayweather ?,… Simply a waste of time …. PEACE ..

Posted November 9, 2013 5:36 pm

the golden age of boxing is long gone.

Posted November 9, 2013 5:28 pm

We won’t see it… I don’t see this fight happening in any way… Danny Garcia is an undefeated world champion.. He gets Floyd before Khan gets him … but then, this is Boxing.

It would be the biggest fraud ever perpetrated if Khan got the shot.

Posted November 9, 2013 5:13 pm

This fight could actually end in a KO….for Floyd!! I haven’t been able to even fathom that thought in his past fights because of his lack of KO power but seeing how fragile Khans chin is,this can end pretty quickly but I am hoping Khan puts in a good performance and proves haters wrong! We’ll see.

Posted November 9, 2013 4:48 pm

I would’t say Sergio Martinez or Adonis Stevenson are hype jobs…

But they don’t want to fight their most dangerous opponents.

Posted November 9, 2013 4:02 pm

8 out of ten are hype jobs today.

Posted November 9, 2013 3:43 pm

Calculated vs Jittery. Zab Judah’s jittery speed had the chicken’s clucking and the rooster’s crowing for one and a half rounds vs Kosta Tszyu. Zab found he had no core of resistance though, when Kosta popped him neatly on the chin. Khan will know the chicken dance if he goes in against Floyd, with jittery speed.

Posted November 9, 2013 3:40 pm

Often the best did not get a shot at the celebrity hype job…

That’s always been true in Boxing history.

Posted November 9, 2013 3:28 pm

once the best fought the best, now the hype fight the best.

“If you call out one guy for one thing you must call them ALL OUT.”

TJ, maybe there’s a time and place to call them all out, but it’s not now, and I wasn’t calling Mayweather out. I’ve said these same things many times before about him. Floyd is a fine fighter and a fine champion, but he has never shied away from an opportunity to make his fights easier for himself.

As for the special supplements you talked about, yes, I believe these are also “performance enhancing” to the extent that maybe they should also be banned. I recently watched a documentary on HBO concerning an NFL player who gave himself IVs of these mixtures–he did it right there in front of the camera–and he gets away with it (along with many other athletes in football and other sports as well) only because they are not actually banned. The NFL does not endorse them and discourages their use. And frankly, I question what’s REALLY in those concoctions.

Anyways, no worries–I never thought you were taking a stab at me. At least you have experience and knowledge to base your arguments on.

Boxing is not sprinting—nor is it a test of reflexes.

Boxing is not a contest of speed. The same applies to agility, toughness, strength, and firepower. Those are raw talents one is born with—but talent can’t match a finished product—or 20 years experience perfecting a craft.

Skills pay the bills. Mastery makes the money. The tortoise beats the hare. Those are clichés … but there is timeless wisdom in clichés.

Danny Garcia not only smashed Khan, but he beat Lucas Matthysse. If he doesn’t get his shot at Mayweather before Khan … that’s the way Boxing is.

Floyd by British BULLDOGGED stoppage.

Posted November 9, 2013 9:37 am

Floyd knows that he’s stronger than Khan and he also knows that Khan can’t fight when you’re right in his chest. SO Floyd would just BULLDOG Khan and knock his fragile chinned azz OUT. Its EASY to predict.

Posted November 9, 2013 9:33 am

I would love to see this fight. of course khan hasn’t earned it, but that seems to happen regularly these days anyway. would be a very interesting stylistic match up. khans hand speed is absolute lightning. if he could keep the fight at long range I think he could win 3 out of the 12 rounds. no way does he win the fight though. after the super ordinary guererro getting a shot, why not give the chinny pom a go

Posted November 9, 2013 8:34 am

Ironically I would give Khan a chance against Floyd because Floyd hasnt ko’d anyone for a while and has never been known to be a puncher or have a killer instinct, Khan will likely get out landed percentage wise because Floyd will shoulder roll and duck and move with most of Khans punches, but Khan will probably throw so many, it would make Floyd wait longer to counter…imo

Khan has the most problems with guys who attack him using their chin as their defence in the hope of getting a ko on him. Would Floyd do this? I dont think so, so this could be an interesting fight.

Posted November 9, 2013 6:12 am

I would like to see this bout. could be interesting. Khan is only faster because he is younger.

Posted November 9, 2013 5:39 am

Bill Patrice Jones

This is a DREAM fight for Khan. He’s still bankable in America. Despite his losses has a pretty good professional record at the highest level in this era’s toughest weight divisions. He’s still relatively big news worldwide. However most importantly he has NOTHING to lose. No one expects him to win and even a modestly decent performance boosts his resume. He’s in a win win situation. Floyd has hopelessly dominated his recent (esteemed) opponents so you can hardly criticise Khan if he loses badly. Mayweather is also not likely to cause Khan a horrendous looking KO defeat either,

Sorry to disagree with everyone, but I think Khan would give floyd all sorts of problems.

“Regardless, it is my opinion, an opinion that I have voiced on ESB many times before, that no boxer should be allowed to use any pain-killing drugs because they, like most other banned drugs, do enhance a boxer’s performance.”

READ BOXING MONTHLY… JOE has been using painkillers for 20 years!!!!
I’m not having a go at you re FLOYD, I’m just trying to get people to be fair across the spectrum of our sport. If you call out one guy for one thing you must call them ALL OUT.

That is why I wrote ‘in the interest of fairness,’

Anyway, do you not think these so-called nutritious drinks and protein shakes are performance enhancing (and half the time no one knows what is really in them)!!!!

Most things are performance-enhancing…. If they are not on the banned list, then we can’t really complain!!!

As I said, I have serious problems with my hands and have spent many hours on trying different ‘natural’ methods to keep them healthy so i can still enjoy sparring and hitting the bags… But, it’s becoming increasingly difficult and painful, but i am perservering!

Always nice to debate with you HIDALGO

BTW I have no problem with people voicing their opinion and no problems with you giving me your reasons why you disagree with me, as my post was in no way meant as a dig at you.

Posted November 9, 2013 3:31 am

“Hidalgo – what do you use for the pain that Floyds success has caused you? I suggest a gun in your temple would do the trick.”

LOL @ Happyboy. What do YOU use for the pain that I have caused YOU? I suggest you pull the corn cob out of your butt. Your pain will be alleviated.

Posted November 9, 2013 12:42 am

Compared to Mayweather, Khan’s speed would be jittery which is reasonable considering he does not have nowhere near the experience or natural genius that Mayweather has for boxing. Khan’s still young, so he may have a chance to build up his career to some degree now that he’s training with Virgil Hunter.

Posted November 9, 2013 12:25 am

Hidalgo – what do you use for the pain that Floyds success has caused you? I suggest a gun in your temple would do the trick.

TJ, according to the information I could find on the Internet, Calzaghe stated he started using cortisone to help with the pain in his left hand after he broke a metacarpal bone at the back of it in 2005. He said that after that he had to rely on the cortisone so he could keep fighting but he finally had to retire in 2009 because even with the cortisone injections, the pain was too great and he could no longer fight. But I couldn’t find any article in which Calzaghe said he used pain-killing injections over a 20 year period for his hands. Not saying the article doesn’t exist or that Calzaghe didn’t say that, I just couldn’t find it.

But let me point something out to you: My comments were not about Joe Calzaghe. This thread is not about Joe Calzaghe–it’s about Mayweather and Khan.

I pointed out a number of factors that have helped Floyd to win his fights and everything I said is true. Whether another fighter has also used pain-killing injections has no bearing on my comments nor does it change the truth. Floyd did in fact–and to my knowledge still does–use pain-killing injections not only to help him fight but to help him win fights. That would be a performance enhancement–wouldn’t you agree?

Regardless, it is my opinion, an opinion that I have voiced on ESB many times before, that no boxer should be allowed to use any pain-killing drugs because they, like most other banned drugs, do enhance a boxer’s performance.

Posted November 8, 2013 9:18 pm

You white people should NOT even say Floyds name.

Posted November 8, 2013 9:17 pm

TJ, do you have a link to the Boxing Monthly article about Joe Calzaghe?

Posted November 8, 2013 9:06 pm

BTW, TJ, is the pain killer issue your only disagreement with my post?

Posted November 8, 2013 9:03 pm

If Khan going to win this fight he needs to be very aggressive and cautious like he did against Maidana and Zudah, throw some body punches and lots of them

Posted November 8, 2013 8:51 pm

Golden Boy promotions is full of it. Top Rank is full of it. Boxing is now the New Democrat and Republican party’s. We are in a two system hole. Revolution is the only way out..STOP BUYING PPV FIGHTS.

Golden Boy has began its advertising on Mayweather vs Khan fight. This fight is B.S everyone except Khan believes he deserves a shot at Mayweather. The most pathetic thing is that a million of suckers will pay for this fken fight. I guess every second a sucker is born.

Mayweather is a oints fighter but he would KO Khan.

Posted November 8, 2013 4:30 pm

Pac has that little dart in and out style, if you think JMM timed it then what do you think Mayweather who has a higher ring IQ will do. The only one who will beat Mayweather is Mayweather. He will retire with the (0) if he keeps his game up like he has done for 17 years.

Posted November 8, 2013 4:28 pm

Don’t even know why Mayweather and Khan are mentioned together. Mayweather would school him like he did Canelo. No contest.

Posted November 8, 2013 4:23 pm

I laugh at funny style dudes who knock floyds record. His opponent list reads practically the same as pacs. Except only 1 catchweight fight, if u call 2 lbs a catchweight. He need had no rehydration clauses against any opponent. Unlike pac did margacheato. Only difference is floyd whipped jmm n pac ended up face down ass up. So if floyd is really a fraud than so is pac. Only difference is floyd is undefeated and pac has around 5 r 6 loses. And if pac is as good as you pactards say he is , he shoulda destroyed bradley at least on paper. I want to hear the excuses if rios k.o.’s pac. Im not a pac hater he is an amazing talent. But if u say pac is an atg than so is floyd. Check both fighters record. Think about it!

Posted November 8, 2013 2:35 pm

TRUTH IS AMIR KHAN does not deserve a crack at FLOYD, BRADLEY, ALEXANDER or any champion at W’W. The last time we saw this fraud he barely got the nod over ageing KIDD Julio Diaz, getting hammered round the ring the last 4 rounds, from a blown up, ageing lightweight!!!!

If Khan had manned up and faced DEVON in December and won, we’d all say okay, FairPlay, but this BACKDOOR bandit is alwYs looking to push in the queue without actually deserving a shot.

Let him defeat a MATTHYSSE, GARCIA, SPECIAL K, heck anyone in the top 5 at W’W…

He pulled the same stunt to get KOTELNIK.

This is why no one can stand the puss. if he gets the call for MAYWEATHER, it will be the first time in years that Floyd will not be the guy booed into the ring.

I’m hoping he takes the easy easy date vs the washed up SHANE MOSLEY and then gets creamed!!!

Posted November 8, 2013 2:31 pm

I should have written painkilling injections!!!!

Posted November 8, 2013 2:21 pm

HIDALGO, DO YOU realise JOE CALZAGHE used painkilling drugs to numb the chronic pain in his hands for the past 20 years????? He is quoted in BOXING MONTHLY telling us how excruciating the pain was before and after his fights and I too suffer from chronic hands so I know how excruciating the pain is.

If you gonna call out FLOYD, let’s hear you call out JOE CALZAGHE, “in the interests of fairness”?

FFS ESB! I am not posting COMMENTS TOO QUICKLY!!!!!!!

Posted November 8, 2013 2:20 pm

Khan is crap.

Posted November 8, 2013 2:02 pm

“It’s why “Money/Pretty Boy” Floyd is 45-0.”

Actually, there are a number of factors that have helped Floyd to remain undefeated, factors that have nothing to do with any kind of speed: Cheating on his weight, fighting opponents that are significantly smaller than him, using pain-numbing drugs to help him make it through fights, demanding his opponents fight at catchweights, sucker punches and poor refereeing have helped him immensely.

Floyd made over $40 million in his last fight against a guy he would not face at his full weight and strength. No wonder his “speed” looked so wonderful.

BTW, SREdmond will be all over this thread. Wait and see. LOL!

Posted November 8, 2013 12:35 pm

Are we actually even stacking this two up?? Mayweather is obviously better in every department and Khan stands no chance at all. If boxing “experts” dont unanimously have Floyd winning decisively, I’d be shocked. Total mismatch.
