This Alexander Petkovic on the undercard is doing the opposite of Gomez. Former cruiserweight now up to 227 lbs. I see 3 of his 4 losses were by KO. Not a good sign for a guy who transitioned from cruiser to heavy.

Good Gomez is back at cruiser on paper. But the reality might be different. He was a very good cruiserweight champion years ago. But I don’t recall any heavyweights who went back to 200 lbs and had the same strength and durability.

Well it would be great if Juan Carlos Gomez could become just a portion of the cruiserweight fighter he was before. The cruiserweight division lacks interesting champions and contenders now.
