TARK

To me…, If your hands break a lot you wrap them wrong… I watched Joe Calzaghe get his hands wrapped and almost threw up.

Floyd pays a hand wrapping specialist a hefty salary to wrap his hands to perfection — because he was having so much trouble with them.

The 5 biggest points of hand wrapping are:

You need a great pad for the knuckles… you need both perpendicular and crosshatch wrapping patterns over the metacarpals to absolutely secure them fast… you need to secure the weak side, or little finger side of the fist very well… you need to secure the wrists very well… You have to keep the wrappings off the palm of the hand so you can make a good tight fist once you put the gloves on.

The art is doing that without loading the hands down with tons of wrappings.

Robert A. good eye. Boytsov’s small hands absorb the brunt of a better than average heayweight punch. They’ve broken two or three times already. If it wasn’t for his brittle hands he’d have fought for a title already. He’s got a deep amateur background and excellent fundamentals. The hands are his achilles heel.

the hw circus keeps rolling along.

Robert A.

Look at the small size of Boytsov’s hands in the pic. Methinks the hand injury rumors may well have some validity.

All these bums calling out the K bros, it makes me laugh!
Wlad’s standing in the HW division is akin to Mayweather’s; all roads lead to a career best payday
and beatdown.
Would love to see Wlad give Wilder his shot though, only to shut up the American fans who rave
this technically deficient joke, who has a worse record of fighting stiffs and OAP bums than our own
Fraudley Harrison.

badger

boysov has a much better amateur background than wilder.

Ernie’s Tiny Custard Cannon

wilder this wilder that. wilder is a bum. he will fight stiverne for vitali’s belt, lose and that will be that. thank god the wilder train is about to be derailed. this guy belongs on 4 rounders on undercards the same way butterbean was used – as a freak show. what an absolute disgrace by none other than al haymon. sickening.

Posted October 31, 2013 10:29 pm

Cognitor

Why don’t they just match this guy with Wilder before either gets a world title shot? We can’t get good fights between contenders when each contender only wants to fight boxers who train out of Cross Fit or Golds Gym after their 9 to 5 job . They build these ludicrous win-loss records and end up getting a title shot. Boxing has got to smarten up.

I was mistaken about boytsovs competition compared to wilders. More quality opponents. But unlike wilder he wasn’t a late comer to the sport, he’s short, and he’s been a pro since 2004. I don’t see many huge wins, Dominick Guinn and maddalone are no top contenders. I hear a lot about hand injuries. Seems this guy needs to step up to better competition before facing klitschko.

LOL at fans asking why Boytsov is ranked so high.

Look at Wilders ranking. That’s even more ridiculous.

“Boytsov has fought much better fighters than Wilder. I wish he could get Wilder to fight him, but Wilder would not take such a chance.” – True. Both Boytsov and Wilder are talking about fighting Klitcschko and neither deserve a title shot. But at least Boytsov has faced some gatekeepers in the top 40. Wilder’s faced nothing but gimme opponents.

KO KIDD

What I cant figure out is how the WBO has Boystov ranked so high

Has he beaten a top 5 ranked WBO fighter? top 10? do these belt organizations follow their own rating system?

I dont think he even holds a WBO regional strap, hasnt won an eliminator

someone explain his rank

vitali fights the best available, rod, you moron. boytsov is very talented regardless of his size. wilder is 6’7 and he sucks.

Posted October 31, 2013 1:10 am

rod

vitali will probably fight boytsov for another pay day. He likes guys around 6 foot tall.

Posted October 31, 2013 12:47 am

rod

WOW this guy is actually worse than wilder and in usual fashion talking about fighting a klitschko. Stop pretending Boytsov you are scared of freaking chisora.

Posted October 31, 2013 12:45 am

Farmboxer

Boytsov has fought much better fighters than Wilder. I wish he could get Wilder to fight him, but Wilder would not take such a chance. Boytsov would knock Wilder out, no doubt about it…………..

This Boytsov shouldn’t even be mentioned as someone to fight , let alone BEAT a Klitchko !

Posted October 31, 2013 12:24 am

R0b0-H@mster

@Curtis Lowe…you are right.

Leapai is a 4 round fighter. And those 4 rounds aren`t THAT good.

Boytsov is smart enough to weather it and take him out in the second half.

It`s of very limited relevance to the HW picture as a whole unless Boytsov shows his pre-hand injury animal power again.

NOONE is outpointing a Klitschko, so walking in there without KO power is hopeless.

Posted October 30, 2013 7:55 pm

team LIONHEART

A lot of forums saying it’s a walk in the park for Boystov, I wouldn’t under estimate my brother, he’ll be ready to go…1st time going into full time training & in camp preparing for Boystov never seen him train so hard & having Noel & his PT getting him prep unbelievable what you can discover & do when @ full flight, that’s all I’ll say & I’ll let his hands do the talking when the time comes…..”the past is the past”.

Alex quoted “BOYSTOV NEEDS TO TAKE MY HEART OUT TO BEAT ME” he knows how close he is to the big one & I don’t think he’s gana let Boystov take it away that easy….GERMANY is gana witness a heavyweight from DOWN UNDER…God Bless

#ONE PUNCH CAN CHANGE IT ALL

Alex Leapai…the guy Kevin Johnson stopped in 9….thats the guy that gets you a shot at a Klitshcko??

“lost track of boysov. was he injured?” – After every fight the last few years and once before.

lost track of boysov. was he injured?

Posted October 30, 2013 7:12 pm

Curtis Lowe

I believe Leapai was KOed in round 9 by Kevin “Safety Pin” Johnson.

If I am correct, nuff said.

Posted October 30, 2013 6:39 pm

Rubio

This guy has been more reluctant to fight credible competition than wilder.

Posted October 30, 2013 4:43 pm

Xavier

Boytsov should get past Leapai, but does he really deserve a shot at WK? I don’t think so. Having said that, Denis can punch and can be exciting. Does he beat Wlad? Very unlikely. Wlad is so much bigger too.

Posted October 30, 2013 3:38 pm

WHAT!?!

Boytsov only needs to dance around for 4 rounds and then Leapai will be gassed and it will be over in 7. Leapai could of been a real contender if he would hit the road more. His endurance lets him down however he will be dangerous in the first half of the fight through his power. Boytsov needs to watch out for the uppercut.

Posted October 30, 2013 3:36 pm

JE

I guess they have to try to convince us that Leapai is a legitimate threat — but he isn’t. He’s a slightly above-average club fighter. He will get chopped up by Boytsov.

coach

good boxer needs to stay busy he is similar to solis style wise

Posted October 30, 2013 3:02 pm

Fight Aficionado

Boytsov needs to prove he can stay healthy more than six months at a time and beat a couple top 20 guys before talking Klitschko. He’s got good skills, talent and a decent punch though.

Posted October 30, 2013 2:27 pm

dwc

Boytsov had alot of set backs, and hasnt lived up to his hype. But he should win this pretty easy and a fight with Wilder after this would be the thing to do.Some of these guys really need to start facing each other, like Fury and Haye are doing(if Haye dont get hurt again..lol.)

Like I said earlier, Boytsov is WBO #1 for Wladimir. Boytsov has a nice record of 33-0-26 KOs. Match him up with Wilder, they have similar records.
This is the kind of guy Wilder should be stalking. Instead Wilder is seeking ButterBean or Chauncy Welliver !!!

Posted October 30, 2013 1:01 pm

GUMBOOT

So if Leapai wins does he get the Kbro? Boytsov has a great record but doesn’t beat Klitchko until the brother turns up drunk.

Posted October 30, 2013 12:44 pm

No. Have to join the que

Posted October 30, 2013 12:29 pm

If this man comes into the ring with focus and in shape and pulls out his inner beast, this is the guy to ko klitschko.
