Wladimir was hoping David Price would keep winning… Now he’ll have to fight Kubrat Pulev.. Now that should actually be a good fight.. Pulev will be looking to shatter some glass … something David Haye couldn’t do.

Chopped Liver

Lewis mastered Vitali and that’s just a plain and simple fact.

Whipped him like an oversized pooch. Exposed him for the rank amateur that he is.

Vitali met one great fighter and didn`t make it into the second half of the fight.

That’s a damning indictment on how soft he is.

That is pretty sad for Ukraine though – that England just put that whipping on Poland, and now you guys have to go to the playoffs.

Uh-oh hope you don`t get France.

Anyway , do you have a problem with fans supporting their team , no matter what the odds ? I certainly don’t .

Actually that Nobel Peace Prize joke was originally done for the Muhammad Ali-Alfredo Evangelista fight.. It got an even bigger laugh for that.

The Klitschkos are known outside Germany… They sold out arenaa in Poland and Russia…

Vitali sold out the Staples Center twice against Lewis and Arreola. When Ali fought there were often empty seats.

In order for that joke to make people laugh, they had to have a clue about the fight taking place and what happened………the klits cant even achieve that outside Germany.

That’s right…, The Klitschkos sell out soccer stadiums in Europe. The Euros love them. Wladimir had 2 boring fights. Ali had 20 boring fights.

Comedian Johnny Carson.., “Folks… This just in hot of the news wires… Muhammad Ali and Leon Spinks have just been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize… For promoting non-violence in Boxing.”

Lewis defeated VK in his last fight. By the time the referee stepped in the cut above Vitali’s eye was the size of a cantaloupe. By this point Lewis, who’d been initially surprised by a figher who was only drafted in as a replacement, was asserting his dominance. If the referee hadn’t stopped the fight when he did, VK would have gone in the next two rounds at most.

As for Price, he’s going to need more than Adam Booth to fix a heart that crumbled so easily in his second fight against TT. Up this this point, his sheer size has concealed the weaknesses in his makeup, particularly the lack of minerals when the going gets tough.

As for boxing skills, he needs to fix that jab as a matter of urgency. He paws with it, doesn’t throw it to its full extension, and as a result his range is off. At his height no other HW should be able to get near him, yet TT was tagging him with ease.

There is much work to do.

The Legend Lennox Lewis is a pugilist specialist . . . .

Posted October 15, 2013 8:03 am

?

GEORGE DAITERMEYER writes below:

I`m glad that people have re-highlighted the Lewis Klitschko fight, and I have rewatched it closely with great intrigue.

My initial feelings on the bout are somewhat coloured by dealings I have had previous with Mr Lewis on a property matter unrelated to boxing, but during which I found him to be possessed of a disagreeable pomposity, and inflated sense of self-importance bordering on outright arrogance. An observation I made most candidly to both my wife, and my legal representative.

IT IS 100% true that LENNOX LEWIS more so today has a deluded self-importance that one finds in Kings, Emporers, tyrants and despots throughout history, fuelled by a misplaced sense of majesty, they actually forget those who helped them achieve their lofty positions in life and even though they have achieved much (legitimately or otherwise), this arrogance turns to jealousy when they look over their shoulders as others either approach or surpass their lofty achievements.

These same types have a revisionist view of history and do their best to cloud the truth and shape it in their own image actually believing their own b.s.

LENNOX has taken it on himself to be the man to SAVE the HEAVYWEIGHT division where all before him have failed since he retired by launching an X-factor for Heavyweights, where he will train the lucky selectees to world titles and glories, because only he can.

This is the sort of delusional make-up of guys like this who cling on for Grim Death to the spotlight by any means necessary, no matter who gets burned in the process.

LENNOX was an exciting and very, very good fighter, but his time has passed.

But, as the gentleman wrote, their is a whiff of arrogance an,d self- importance in him that forever will alienate some boxing fans forever.

common guys both vitali and lennox are freaking legends. It was a heat of the moment kick that a well schooled kickboxer knew would not land. Both men are great and respect each other outside the ring. Vitali was in shock, he was winning the fight then started getting roughed up. At least he does not cry like arreola.

If my opponent had tried kicking me in the head during a BOXING match, and I beat their face to pulp,i’d have no inclination of offering such a nasty scoundrel a second opportunity.Vitali must have felt like a complete c**t when Lennox graciously offered VK his hand to help him get up….it shows the difference: Lennox=real sportsman with integrity…VK:pretends to be a good sportsman….although maybe I should give VK some slack…maybe all those heavy shots lennox landed on him caused concussion and mental confusion and Vitali thought he was back kickboxing….
As for Price, good luck to him,no doubt Booth can make some major improvements, especially with his defence,no existing jab and his stamina…with his size,he should really focus on developing a world class jab, instead of his current left hand technique, which resembles painting a door….

Booth the back foot specialist, he can’t train any other way, I can’t see this being a great move for Price, who likes to come forward and throw hard nasty shots. Booth keeps all his fighters on the back foot, preferring a counter punching sniper style. That isn’t how David fights.

Ahhh the lewis vs vitali debate…to be honest its not much of a debate, vitali got hit too many times and was done by round six…yes he was winning by two points at that point, do you really think he would’ve won the fight messed up like that or not ? Nah I don’t buy it, lewis didn’t need theematch, he was undisputed champion with a legacy nice and intact, vitali was a ped user and LOST when his time came. Throw vitali in with wilder or haya, because judging on vitali vs chisora, vitali wouldn’t get too far with them two. Perhaps I’m jumping the gun with wilder, never really seen him take a big shot or on the back peddle, be interesting to see if he’s a fight or flight kind of guy. Froch was fighting in Denmark so he was robbed..

Lewis fought many times in the United States.. By the time he fought Vitali in the USA he had the officials in his pocket.. but he was still losing the fight on all scorecards.

All the commentators also favored Vitali… They all noted that Lewis was badly hurt in the 2nd round… Vitali was never hurt… He had deep gashes in his face caused by illegal contact… cuts that caused blinding blood to flow into his eye… But Lewis couldn’t hurt him… Vitali is just a very tough guy.. He was winning the fight on all cards while suffering from those handicaps.

Actually Roy JOnes Jnr wasn`t tricked by any stretch of the imagination. The contents of ripped fuel were known and labelled. The company had the ingredient registered with the FDA.

There have been other traces of contamination, but Jones tested positive for something that was SUPPOSED to be in the supplement, but unfortunately for him is illegal in boxing.

Though we don`t actually even know if that is all Jones tested positive for, his defence was a case of smoke and mirrors and misdirection. Its very likely he was on st3roids for the majority of his career up to that point since he got caught the first time he was tested for the substance.

Lewis is too much of a gentleman to complain about Vitali’s shenanigans.

Lewis was unconcerned with Vitalis pitty patty punches – the clean effective punches came from Lewis and the scoring should have reflected that – much like Froch-Kessler in their first fight where Frochs harder punches should have won him more rounds

Minty Mincer.., “Vitalis very poor form and distress at being outclassed.”

It’s IMPOSSIBLE to be outclassed when you are winning the fight on ALL SCORECARDS…as Vitali was at the end of the fight.

The commentators talked about Lewis’s fouls all the time… NOT ONE OF THE COMMENTATORS said Vtiali tried to kick Lewis — and neither did Lewis… NOBODY even said anything about a kick.

This is a fantasy of Minty Mincer and nothing more.

Supreme Clown is lying all over the place..,

Vitali has never been a PED abuser.. He doesn’t use them… doesn’t want them… believes they destroy the body… doesn’t believe they can help… doesn’t want to cheat in any case.

VK suffered an injury as an amateur, and a doctor prescribed a medication that had a steroid in it to speed the healing.. That was the one and only instance of a positive test and it was a doctor’s mistake.

Vitali has passed scores of drug tests as a professional and doesn’t even take over-the-counter supplements because he doesn’t trust them… He knows Roy Jones and many other boxers have been flagged for PED use because manufacturers often secretly add cheap PED’s to their products to make them seem more effective than they are — without putting that information on the label.

Vitali was not knocked cold in kick boxing… He was knocked down and the fight was stopped — the rules for that particular fight (minumum contact) meant a knockdown stopped the contest. That was the only one of 36 professional kickboxing matches Vitali lost.

Vitali is one of 2 Heavyweight Champions who have nevre been knocked down — and the only one who has nevr been behind on points.

A rocking motion including a vicious kick at Lewis leg. It simply betrayed Vitalis very poor form and distress at being outclassed.
The laxity of the referee in not throwing him out immediately was near criminal. It was a disgraceful display of fouling from Vitali, but that is what happens when he has a friendly ref. Kicking is not allowed. Vitali must have been so distressed he believed he was back in a kickboxing ring.

There will be no whitewash of this by apologists for cheating .

I have watched the incident in slow mo and it is clear, and uneqivocal.

A 12 month ban would have been in order.

Posted October 15, 2013 12:22 am

TARK

LMFAO at Minty Mincer.., Vitali didn’t attempt to kick Lewis you idiot.. Commentators on the telecast and the referee would have noticed that.. Not one of them said anything.. That’s a goofy fantasy of yours.

VK simply made a rocking motion to get to his feet after Lewis had tackled him and pulled him down — landing on top of him.. If Vitali WANTED to kick Lewis in the head he could have done so at any time, with great spped and power.. Vitali had 36 professional kickboxing matches, winning 35 of them.

As it was, Vitali was winning on all scorecards when the fight was stopped — and Lewis promised him a rematch… He lied.

Posted October 15, 2013 12:06 am

Minty Mincer

Lewis was right not to reward Vitali Klitschkos nefarious and subhuman behaviour with another (and what would be his only ever) shot at a HOF boxer.

It really cannot be emphasised enough what a disgusting cheat Klitschko is, and the world rejoiced to see his drug fuelled plans brought to heel by a true gentleman of the sport.

Vitalis attempted kick during this fight was disgusting – he forgot which sport he was in, and he should have been removed from the ring henceforth to enjoy a lengthy ban during which he could seriously consider his behaviour.

If he doesnt have the stamina to go 12 rounds under constant pressure then he better start picking his opponents more carefully..

Posted October 14, 2013 10:30 pm

Lewis lost 4-2 and turned down huge money and snubbed the millions of boxing who were demanding a rematch. Why would you end your career on such a low note if you thought you could win the rematch? I think Lewis’s problem was finding a way to replicate winning on cuts, I think it was a smart (albeit cowardly) move by Lewis.

Re: Price I think it’s a silly move hooking up with Booth, Booth might well do as he did with Aydin and make Price fight an ambush style. Price has no future at the top of the Heavyweight division – no chin, no stamina, can’t fight inside and can’t even clinch when he gets buzzed. Too many holes.

While we are on this topic I also found Mr Klitschko’s conduct after the fight most unbecoming, and certainly well below those of any individual seeking public office.

He was devoid of energy or fight in the sixth round, holding and being slammed with the best punches of the fight by Lewis, he was a pathetic shadow of the tiger he was in round 1 and 2.

Yet the moment the fight is quite rightly stopped he works up the energy to jump around crying like some oversized toddler – once again uncorking the genie that is his bad character.

The only thing poorer than Vitali’s sportsmanship was his defence, hence the most used phrase of the night from the commentators being “Big right hand Lennox Lewis”.

Posted October 14, 2013 7:29 pm

Minty Mincer

The reason Vitali got cut was bone growth deformities caused by his continued, deliberate and illicit use of st3r01ds.

He merely reaped the harvest of years of systematic cheating.

It`s Karma really that he used all those drugs to prepare him for his big shot, and those very substances were a two edged sword which cut him.

It`s a salutary lesson for all youngsters out there not to stoop to the disgusting levels Vitali did – both in terms of his use of banned substances, and his use of banned moves – attempting to kick Lewis during the fight – something he should have been disqualified for immediately.

Price still gas a lot going for him. Whilst he has his failings from a trainers point if view there’s really something there to get your teeth into. Firstly Price was rushed too fast. He was never made to go the distance with lesser fighters before stepping up to that next level. If you looked at how many rounds he had boxed professionally in the past few years it was ridiculous. He was koing everyone in a few rounds. Booth will train him to fight 12 hard rounds if needs be. He will also train him to keep out if trouble. But

I wouldn’t say price has a glass jaw, any punch from a man 20 stone odd has a good chance of knocking anyone out when hit on the button, I think price suffers with stamina problems and overall heart, once he gets chinned he shells up really badly, so his defense is weak. He needs a mean streak in him but gets too apprehensive and loses his nerve, doesn’t really know when to go for the kill, kind of goes for it when the crowd cheer.

30 years old,bad stamina, less then average chin, and a unfighter like mind set.But Price has good power and is pretty athletic, overall some good things but plenty of things he needs major work on,and at 30 it makes it that much worse. Can he do something big in the future…maybe, but I wouldnt bet my house on it!!

Lennox Lewis had a clear thought.., Making a polished defensive boxer out of David Price was going to take more work and effort than he was willing to put out — so he abandoned the project.

Booth doesn’t expect outstanding skills to fall out of the sky. He’s not as knowledgeable as Lewis—but he has a better work ethic. Haye and Price have a great relationship. Haye is one of the smartest and most knowledgeable heavyweights in boxing history. However, if your best buddy is a possible future rival for the top prize in sports…you might not want to teach him all your best secrets.

Posted October 14, 2013 2:22 pm

TARK

Price needs a lot of fights. He needs tons of work. I would give him a 19-year-old Mike Tyson schedule of fights and intense training.

Cus D’Amato.., “You need to be hit people with bad intentions to make fast progress as a pro fighter. Line up opponents 3 and 4 deep. If one gets injured and pulls out, replace him with one of the other 3 opponents you already lined up. The opponents don’t have to be that good, just willing to fight. Any professional boxer can do something well enough to give you trouble or they wouldn’t be fighters. If you don’t have fights happening you’re stuck in the mud. Go find a job.”

Posted October 14, 2013 2:18 pm

What can he do if he has no chin and no fight in him? He froze against Thompson, who is more than 40 years old!!!! Decked loads as an amateur. Nice guy, though.

Posted October 14, 2013 2:04 pm

TJ

PERSONALLY, I WOULD want to rebuild PRICEY from the top down. He is far too bulky in his back and shoulders without the base to support him.

ADAM BOOTH is a great fit and will have him doing speed work above all to get him to move quickly in the ring able to cover distance quickly and efficiently, Dutch his amateur habits, which. Often thought a little pedestrian and robotic.

Price has natural power, so he doesn’t need too much work there, he just needs to work with sharpening his combinations and maturing his jab so it’s both his first line of offence and first line of defence also.

I would like to see him loosen up in the ring and stop fighting 40 year olds and instead duke it out with the likes of a Seth Mitchell, who will test his chin and desire for a couple of rounds and then aim his dukes at Wilder and Jennings to get back in the mix.
