Let me get this straight…. You get out boxed the entire fight until 1 minute left in the last round.. You get a lucky punch in that you couldn’t do for a full 11 rounds… And you think you deserve a rematch???? LOL… To me Chavez got that lucky punch in because Martinez was tired from whoopin his ass the whole night LOL…

No. forget it. Money controls boxing and Chavez Martinez II is the Money decision. Sorry.

Posted September 17, 2012 9:22 am

Let’s face it :!: The only one’s who want a re-match are J.C.Chavez Jr & Jose Suliaman. The World now wants S.G.martinez vs WBA/IBF Champion Daniel Geale in pretty much an undisputed unification to define who’s #1 @ 160Lb. But hey :!: Suliaman( ) makes his own rules up under the WBC banner & constantly play’s God with the World, so the betting is that Martinez is stripped again & JCC re-installed as champion. I know this pro boxing & all about £$, but the World Boxing public want more + the fighters deserve more. For the good of the sport Martinez vs Geale has to happen next with Golovkin, Macklin, Soloman, Barker, JCC & Murray ECT fighting out an elimination series.

Posted September 17, 2012 7:55 am

Looks all contorted and weird.. Lucky for Chavez Jr. years of steriods abuse ahd HGH have given him that huge Block head…

Posted September 17, 2012 7:22 am

If its true that Martinez broke his hand in the middle rounds and tore his knee ligament when he went down assisted with a Chaver Jr. shove earily reminiscent of a Hopkins dirty tactic then it shows just how of a fighter Martinez is.. the Broken hand for Martinez could be the reason why Martinez was able to continue later on and land his lucky shot.. In a rematch I see Martinez doing alot worse to Chavez Jr… Let Martinez Heal and lets hope Junior doesn’t get his ASS kicked by anyone else because I’d love to see Martinez clearly and definitively end Chavez Jr’s bogus career in a rematch… besides I think Martinez has earned himself a Huge Payday…

Posted September 17, 2012 7:20 am

Yeah, I want the rematch but only if its 100 rounds because that’s how many it may take for JCC to land another lucky punch if Sergio decides not to trade with a guy 20 lbs heavier than him and just box. Can you say boxing clinic?

The Mad Scientist

Sergio Martinez schooled/brutalize Chavez Jr. or whatever you want to call it why are you mofo’s still hating on the kid..? Junior lost! isnt that what you wanted to see..? the kid has a great 12th round for himself that gave his fans something to get excited about and these spiteful, insecure, bitter ass haters wont even let him have that..

Posted September 17, 2012 1:50 am

Dang look at Chavezs face in that picture !!!!!!!!

Posted September 17, 2012 1:34 am

Answer to your question: All the dummies who think 1 minute of the 12th round told more about a fighter than 11 1/2 minutes of 12 rounds told about the other. One thing about fools–they never learn.

Posted September 17, 2012 1:07 am

cBob, Martinez was wailing on Chavez in the 12th round after he went down. And he was landing. Yeah, Jr. was scoring on him, but Martinez actually landed more punches on Jr. after he was down than Jr. did on him. Again, watch a replay.

Posted September 17, 2012 1:05 am

It’s easy to say mismatch when Martinez won 11 1/2 rounds. What fight were you watching?

Posted September 17, 2012 1:04 am

Chad, you wouldn’t know a good fight if you were in one. Martinez didn’t run once. Don’t believe it? Ask Jr.’s face.

Posted September 17, 2012 1:03 am

Jr. standing on the ropes and smiling…Meanwhile his belt has been ripped from his hands. Keep smiling stupid. You’re a has-been.

Posted September 17, 2012 1:02 am

Kenny, I was so impressed with Martinez’s will to win when he was hurt. i could just read his mind…”Oh no you don’t junior. I kicked your ass for eleven rounds , there’s no way in hell you’re going to beat me now.” Truly impressive finish by Martinez.

Posted September 17, 2012 1:00 am

Why is it that “fans” like you Jeff, always want one more round? You dudes are the what-if kings of the world.

Posted September 17, 2012 12:58 am

“One sided fight up until Martinez got hurt and dropped, lucky for him time was on his side.” Are you lame? One-sided UNTIL Martinez got hurt? Are you kidding? Lucky time was on his side? You’re an imbecile! Martinez fought Jr. til the very end. Jr. had thirty seconds of glory, and couldn’t capitalize on it because Martinez was just that much better. And Martinez didn’t get dropped, he got thrown down. Again, watch the REPLAY! Yeah he was hurt but he wasn’t knocked down by a punch. As for Jr. “knowing” Martinez, what, you think Martinez won’t be better against Chavez if they fight again? LOL! Really man, get a grip. Did you even watch the fight? Martinez whupped Jr.’s ass for almost twelve rounds and you’re going on about one little fart of glory for Jr.? Chavez was so outclassed all he could do was go for broke in the 12th round. Then when he had a thoroughly exhausted and possibly injured Martinez in trouble, he couldn’t finish the job. Why? Because Martinez was a better, stronger warrior. Period.

Posted September 17, 2012 12:57 am

it was a mismatch, JR landed one good punch in 45 min. otherwise is was a clear mismatch.

Posted September 17, 2012 12:50 am

Posted September 17, 2012 12:46 am

Obviously the writter is just another Chavez hater. Actually just the Chavez last name is enough to sell out the arena and put on the canvas a p4p fighter. Just accept it. All your hate comments dont change the facts.

Posted September 17, 2012 12:00 am

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

There is absolutely no need for another mismatch. Jr. proved two things: that he can take a wicked beating and that he can land a lucky punch. Even men that don’t know know the first thing about boxing always have a punchers chance. Too bad Jr. didn’t have the speed to skills to finish the fight after landing that lucky punch.

Clown face

Chavez does not deserve a rematch he’s actually a Bum he lost the fight .Sergio should fight Canelo Alvarez Miguel Coto or Floyd Mayweather those are the only fights that makes sense let’s remember when he was 154 pounds they offered him money to move up in weight and fight Kelly Pavlik that’s the only reason he’s fighting at 160 he needs to fight guys in his weight and make the big bucks.

Posted September 16, 2012 10:38 pm

Mismatch? Do these writers cover ice skating and then moonlight as boxing experts????

Posted September 16, 2012 10:19 pm

Ambrosio “One-Man-Show” Delgado

That picture paints a thousand words, absolutely and exactly what happens in the fight. Before junior could throw his slow punches, he already receive a punch from martinez. No rematches, coz if there is, we can re-use again this picture.

I’d remove big head bradley & keep garcia,JMM & Martinez of course.Roach brings it upon himself, karma is all he takes with him.

Posted September 16, 2012 9:56 pm

oops! love sergio, but someone able to hang with him for 12 rounds and hurt him is not bum–nein!

Posted September 16, 2012 9:55 pm

I didn’t feel sorry for Roach.. He basked in the glory when his fighter’s performances made him look good. But in 3 fights this year his 3 top fighters lost 3 World Championships.. Roach denigrated Martinez’s boxing ability and is quick to predict dominant early KO preformances that don’t materialize.. It’s safe to do that when your opponent is Ricky Hatton and you’re confident you’re going to hit him with a lot of hard shots — but not when you’re fighting Danny Garcia, Juan M. Marquez, Tim Bradley, or Sergio Martinez.. Then you need more caution with your statements or you’ll sound like a bonehead.

A rematch is not deserved and Martinez should fight bigger and better fights with his clock ticking. Bring on Martinez VS Mayweather!

Posted September 16, 2012 8:33 pm

Once again listen to how stupid u sound-u say Chavez is 2 3 division bigger yet ur tryn to promote a Martinez vs Mayweather fight huh? Pacman is a natural 140 lbs fighter but Martinez wanted desperately to fight him while he’s been @ 160 for a couple years now. He’s been a MW champ for a couple years now so give me a break. Mayweather has only had 2 fights at 154 while Martinez has been fighting at 160 for over 2 years-it’s okay for ur boy to have a weight advantage over May and Pac but u have a problem with Chavez having a weight advantage over a man that’s been calln him out over a year-seems to me Martinez was well aware of how big he was but still wanted the fight-u can’t have it both ways bruh so make up ur mind and get some facts

Posted September 16, 2012 7:46 pm

IF it’s at Cowboys Stadium, why not? Somehow, though, I see this going the way the Bute-Andrade rematch went. Still, I didn’t get Junior getting KOed hard, so I am all for the rematch.

Posted September 16, 2012 7:44 pm

Where do you get off saying Martinez is a natural 154lbs fighter-other than this fight he was coming at 170lbs dude stfu u don’t know any facts. If he was such a natural 154 lbs fighter he would be down there cause they have better fighters-u guys make no sense. You have more top money makers down there then at 160-Chavez is the only guy u can really make money fighting up there but you have Cotto-Alvarez-Mayweather all good money fights yet he fights at 160 cause he wants the best-do u hear urself dude? Sense he such a natural 154 lbs fighter he could’ve been tryn to get high profile fights at his natural weight instead of Barker and Macklin-I mean he did what he wants vs Jr till Jr started blasting away at his ass in the last round. Just hear urself sometimes-154 is a much more stacked wweight division with more money to be made so why would Martinez fight in a weight class where there’s only one money guy-makes no sense-get better facts bruh cause ur waaay off

Posted September 16, 2012 7:41 pm

This is what i mean, lol.Jr wouldn’t engage vs a smaller Sergio through 11 1/2 rounds & catches A 37 yr old fighter who out boxed him 1-11,threw around a 1000 punches & because the 20-30lb bigger jr caught him a good shot he’s a threat now???lol you jr fans never seem to amaze me i tell you.Anybody fighting guys 2-3 divisions smaller them will always be a huge threat don’t get skill messed up for luck.Sergio is elite & has a very solid chin as he proved vs pavlic,Williams 2x,macklin & the much bigger jr.Chavez caught Sergio many times throughout the fight he didn’t flinch or go down once till the last 90 please stop the bs.Just accept the blatant truth jr is spoiled, overrated fake paper champ & he got skooled.Use to think you called things fairly & knew boxing or at least the truth but you let your heart get in the way too much.

You guys don’t wanna see the rematch nomore,,why..?, what happened to all the bloodthirsty, enthusiastic fanatics who couldn’t wait to watch a brutal beating take place..I know, I know, its hard to enjoy a second fight if Chavez Jr doesn’t play his role of bleeding, wobbling and stumbling all over the ring on his knees begging for mercy..add to that the fact we now know Martinez can get KTFO if gets careless or Junior can improve on his performance and the haters are like no way!!,,they rather take the win for what it is and make themselves believe a rematch would be the same result minus the 12th round and Martinez would finish him this time..Lol! You guys make me laugh, SERIO!

Posted September 16, 2012 6:22 pm

Looks like somebody doesn’t want their idol or fav fighter to get hurt.Sergio is a natural jr middleweight 154 he’s forced to fight at middleweight & every guy he fights outweighs him by 10ls or more cause nobody his size wants to fight him.I said 154 vs floyd, floyd said possibly 160 but i highly doubt it.These are his words don’t take my word for it look it up.Ward is as big as jr if not bigger, let Sergio fight somebody his size once in a while damn.Sergio isn’t that much bigger than floyd & he considers himself the best at any weight he fights, excuses. He’s fought oscar & cotto @ 154lb there’s no reason why he can’t fight Sergio there either.Lame @ss excuses so stop it.

Posted September 16, 2012 6:05 pm

Da UnKnown Comic

May/Martinez should be next for what? Floyd moved up to 54. Martinez is at 60 and is big. Why not Martinez/Ward?

Posted September 16, 2012 5:23 pm

Enough with this Chavez has no business in the same ring as Martinez he got dominated eventhough the fight happened in Chavez s court yard and in a small ring. martinez v. maywheater should be next

what a pointless rematch!! if you only manage to win 1 of 12 rounds and get badly beaten in every other round you don’t deserve anything!!! especially in texas! sergio would be crazy to takew this in texas where chavez will get away with juicing, skipping piss tests and winning on the scorecards as long as he finishes on his feet no matter how badly he gets beaten up.

Posted September 16, 2012 5:12 pm

Not worth it Sergio proved he’s better they made him wait years & he’s at the end of his career,What arum wants or considers is irrelevant he doesn’t control or promote Sergio. No rematch is needed Sergio blew jr out the water you don’t deserve or earn a rematch after landing a lucky shot the last 75 sec that’s called butt hurt & stupidity.Sergio should move on to bigger things like floyd.Leave Sergio’s left overs to somebody else not interested in seeing another blow out.Canelo-floyd?Who’s it gonna be step up.Both floyd-canelo say they want the best yet people see other wise.

Posted September 16, 2012 5:09 pm

Rematches are supposed to be when there is an upset of a Champion, a very close competitive bout, or some sort of controversy… NOT because guys want to make another fat check or a moment of success in one round during a bout a guy was getting trounced in…. Both fighters need to move on, this is OLD business now….

Posted September 16, 2012 5:08 pm

Chavez is a straight up BUM! He got his ass handed to him and got lucky for a few seconds in the 12th and Sergio got up blasting punches, not holding! It amazes me that MEXICANS are so bias!!! Chaves is an embarrassment to the sport and to all the great Mexican champions that come to fight, train and make the sport proud! Face it, he got waxed, taxed and relaxed in the fight, yet he is SOOO delusional, that he states that he only lost because he started late!!! NO, BUM!!! You tried and got WAXED! His father was a true fighter, but Jr., is a disgrace to all true fighters! Now go fight someone who is your weight class! OH and Canelo is more talented, but he is THE MOST protected fighter in the game!! Josesito was led to the slaughter house for 212.500 bucks!!! Oscar should be ashamed of himself for staging that farce of a fight!!!

Unless you said Martinez would Box Chicken Jr’s ears off for 12 rounds, humiliating him in front of his Fans, his Dad and Chubby Girlfriend, leaving him a bloody swollen mess you were way off.. that was a piss poor performance by Chicken Jr. who once again refused to weigh himself fight night… we all know he was at 180+lbs..

One sided fight up until Martinez got hurt and dropped, lucky for him time was on his side. This article seems biased and in my opinion is not deserving of what was displayed the night of the fight. yes jc was being hit alot but was never really in trouble, stunned, or even close to being knocked out. just imagine what everyone would be saying if martinez had not gotten up. jc learned alot from martinez and the fight has only made him a better fighter for us boxing fans. he now knows what he has to work on. i really was not a chavez believer up until this fight. even martinez admitted the previous statement. to say that a rematch is not deserving is wrong. the tables will be turned in a rematch with chavez being the hungrier, i have to prove a point fighter just as martinez was this time. chavez now knows martinez, and more importantly knows he can hurt him. with a more aggressive strategy he will knock out martinez if the rematch takes place. mark my words….

Martinez had a torn ligament and was hurt and with over a Minute left in the Round the Plodding Neanderthal could not take him out.. and yes Martinez did end up tagging him after he got hurt..

It’s kinda hard to say missmatch when Jr came within a hair of knocking Martinez out. I’d love a rematch and if Jr fully dedicated himself to training I could see it being more competitive. And at the end of the day it gives Martinez another fully deserved payday, there’s no other fight out there aside from Andre Ward that will bring him a big check like this one.

Not Chavez JR fault to be fair to him although the arrogance of his team is comical. Been fed bums by Arum from day 1 and this was no prep work for a Martinez who also has limited amateur experience but is far the superior pro. Chavez corner was also a shambles with Freddy Roach having no say at all in proceedings – Chavez senior was calling all the shots via a cornerman automatically demoting Roach to a cheerleader. When I say not Juniors fault maybe i’m too kind – if he turned up for training with Roach he would be better. Don’t think Freddy has any champs now though

I pay for the first fight, so there’s no way I’ll pay another. As for being in TX – Arum is just hoping corrupt judging can get his cheating fighter a win. Screw a rematch. Let Martinez win and fight a deserving contender. As for Martinez being newly crowned: that belt is rightfully his.

I strongly agree with love-the-sport about the same day weigh-in. That’s the way it was at one time before boxing became “sissyfied.” If a same-day weigh-in cannot be done, then there should be a contract clause limiting boxers from coming in over five pounds about the weight limit. If a fighter does come in heavy, he should be fined and the bout recorded as a loss or at least suspended and it should go on his recored. Something needs to be done about boxing as it’s losing lots of fans due to corruption. How anyone could support the bully/coward Chavez or anyone else who cheats, amazes me.

Posted September 16, 2012 3:31 pm

Chavez Jr has the wrong weight class he is not a middle weight!
After seeing this fight but not paying to much attention I have come to the conclusion that neither of these fighters are in the same level as Golovkin they would die if they were to fight him.

Posted September 16, 2012 3:30 pm

Texas……lol.

Posted September 16, 2012 3:21 pm

Bola, almost KO-ing your opponent is enough to warrant asking for rematch. There aren’t many big fights out there at 160 anyway.

Posted September 16, 2012 3:21 pm

Why are all the comments either chavez is a bum or Martinez ran like a chicken. The fight Insaw was actually good. Yes Martinez dominated the bigger heavier handed slower fighter which is what he had to do. Yet Chavez was there every round and proved he could end it at anytime unlike any of the so called world class opponents of Martinez in recent history. That being said lets not get caught in the endless rematch game. Let Martinez wipe up the rest of the middleweights and let Chavez move up in weight mature and dominate as he ages. He is heavy handed and certainly grew last night!

Posted September 16, 2012 3:20 pm

A bit of nonsense in this article, no, Chavez was unable to KO Martinez when he hurt him, but to suggest Martinez got the better of Chavez after the knockdown is silly. Chavez hit him several times with big blows and shook Martinez 4 or 5 times after the knockdown.

Can I start a movement for you guys to agree to this … boxing fans want a same day weight limit for Chavez vs. Martinez II. We want a 160 pound weigh-in (day before fight) and a 170 pound weight limit on the day of the fight.

Paper former-champion Chavez didn’t do enough to earn a rematch, I wouldn’t pay to see one. It would be managerial misconduct to put Chavez back in with Martinez for another sustained beating. Let Chavez feast on B level guys for a while, work on his skills, and wait for Martinez to retire or have Chavez fight for a different belt.
