Macklin fought an excellent fight.

I’m not high on Lee at all. He’s going the distance every fight against terrible comp. Against these guys he should be scoring KOs everytime out but he’s got no power. His skills aren’t anything to write home about either. His conditioning is good but if you’ve got no punch and limited skills your shelf life ain’t gonna be long in this sport.

We watched Showtime and I gotta say I was surprised when I found out Macklin KOed Alcine in 1 round. Of the HBO PPV bouts that’s the one I figured would be the most competitive and Macklin just demolished him. Good win for him.

Hope he actually won the knock out of the night grand prize

Light Middle kills Macklin as can be seen in the fight vs Jamie Moore, I think he stands a good chance against anyone not called Martinez and he beat Sturm imo. Good fights vs Geale and Golivkin at world level. Crackers vs Barker and Saunders at European commonwealth level and although early for Billy Joe its hard to hold him back as he has been winning so easily.

Good for Macklin. I thought Alcine would give him trouble, but not at all.
I hope people don’t minimize this win because it ended quickly. Alcine is a fine fighter.

The British middleweight scene’s a bit un stable right now. Darren Barker’s constantly crocked, Kerry Hope’s lost his EBU title. Martin Murray’s due to be stripped of the British title (if he’s not then he should be. If the BBBofC can strip Groves for not defending his title in 9 months, then they should strip Murray for taking longer) Macklin should be matched with Billy Joe Saunders for the Commonwealth & vacant Brirish title.

I feel sorry for Macklin. He’s been fantastic since the Jamie Moore fight, giving Sturm nightmares & now this. However where doe’s he go :?: Geale’s got 2 mandatory’s Golovkin(WBA) & Soliman(IBF). There’s nonsence take about a S.G.M/J.C.C. Jr rematch & Martin Murray seems to have secured a European title fight, so it looks like the best he can hope for’s a lowly WBO match-up.

Maklin is a real class act IMO. He clearly won against Sturm, and did brilliantly against the pound for pound ranked Martinez. My only criticism of Maklin is I think he’s too small for middleweight. I think he would suit light middle weight and should have continiued to try and make that weight. A Maklin Vrs Alvarez fight would be very entertaining.

LOL Sven ottke life! Brilliant I hate Ottke, the guy was an absolute con!

I don’t see Mack winning a title as long as Maravilla, Chav, GGG, Quilin, Geale or Pirog are around. He could perhaps pick up an interim title from someone like Martin Murray but the division is too stacked @ the moment for any british success.

ryan coyne needs to get busy and step it up …

Mike Lee isn’t showing much against limited opposition. Ryan Coyne and Sean Monaghan are better than him and really ought to be getting more TV time.

Macklin showed he was truly deserving of the praise he gets. He did the same thing to Asikainen when people didn’t give him much thought either. The guy should have been walking into the Martinez fight with the WBA strap, but Sturm was living the Sven Ottke life. Now that Geale finally managed to show Sturm lost after Murray and Macklin were robbed, maybe the Knife and the Real Deal can get it on.

Glad to see ESB coverage of “Mack the Knife” one of the most under-rated and ignored middleweights out there. For those few of us who are also interested in following up and coming non-Latino fighters, light heavyweight Mike Lee 11-0 (6KOs) won a UD over Paul Harness in Vegas last night. In addition, German heavyweight Edmund Gerber 21-0 (14KOs) stopped his British opponent Michael Sprott in the 4th round in Germany.
