Is it drugs, or womens clothes he is having a problem with.Posted September 12, 2013 3:37 pm
He is brave to admit he needs help and to actually do something about it. Some question the timing (fight time), but isn’t that where these addictions can be fed? Around celebrities, pre parties, after parties, drinks, women, high profile social events, etc that happen the night before and the night of the fights and after the fights? I think it was wise to remove himself from the environment before it gets even heavier.Posted September 12, 2013 2:38 pm

I don’t believe Oscar admitted himself to gain publicity. It’s not the kind of press you seek out. I hope he gets the help he needs.Posted September 12, 2013 9:05 am
LOL Now don’t tell us you stood next to both because you were the referee of the bout.Posted September 12, 2013 8:33 am
Thomas Hearns is exactly the same height as Iran Barkley. Down to the hair. TARK, you’ve just lost all the credibility you never had.Posted September 12, 2013 7:34 am
The old school doesn’t deserve to be misunderstood, so I’ll clear Tark’s confusion a little. Although Tark is hostile to reality and likes his delusions and fantasies better than facts, even he should know numbers (perhaps they didn’t check with you and listed this):
Iran Barkley’s height is: 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m), reach:74 in (188 cm)
You do the math, the difference is exactly as I told you.
Hearns was exhibiting the first symptoms of slurred speech already, that’s why I called him washed up. Otherwise Barkley deserves full credit for taking down a formidable fighter.
Crazy timing from ODLH! If this is genuine I would have thought a better approach would have been to carry on using, maintaining his daily routine until the fight is over, then go into rehab.Posted September 12, 2013 5:35 am
Ivanov says.., “Barkley had a 6 inch height advantage over Duran.”
Nonsense… He had about 3 inches on Roberto. I’ve stood right next to Barkley and Duran. There is no 6 inches between them. Hearns was about 3 inches taller than Barkley.
6 inches is a monster height advantage at that size, Barkley didn’t have it and Duran was able to outbox him fairly easily.Posted September 12, 2013 2:31 am
PPV was around in the 1980’s…
And durability has nothing to do with what generation you’re from.Posted September 12, 2013 2:25 am
Ivanov says…, “It’s true Barkley TKOed a washed up Hitman,”
Tommy Hearns wasn’t washed up you idiot… He was 29… Hearns won the LHW title 8 years later when he was 37 … and then Barkley whipped him again.Posted September 12, 2013 2:20 am
It’s true Barkley TKOed a washed up Hitman, the same Hearns who had dismantled Duran. It seemed Duran could never beat Hearns. Instead a 37 year old Duran out boxed a prime Barkley. The same Barkley who in his previous outing had destroyed Duran’s nightmare Hearns. Barkley had a 6 inch height and 8 inch reach advantage and he was too big for a middleweight. The old Duran schooled Barkley and even knocked him down in the 11th. Barkley was so big he moved up to heavyweight later. Duran was a blown up lightweight.
“Of course he’s right… Lucas Matthysse’s thunderous left hook wouldn’t put a dent in Tommy’s weak ass chin… And Canelo wouldn’t have punched his liver through his skinny spinal cord.
And Kirkland Laing could outbox the quitter Duran… But never Floyd”
Tark, Ivanov and I are talking about Duran. Really, you’ll just have to get over yourself sometimes. Believe it or not you are not always right.Posted September 11, 2013 11:59 pm
Oscar needs to do what’s best for Oscar. Ivan needs to write about current fights and fighters, and give them their deserved respect, or find another sport to write about.Posted September 11, 2013 11:11 pm
Well I would let Tommy knock all over my back door love boyPosted September 11, 2013 10:22 pm
Maracho good evening champ. Im going to give him the benefit of the doubt and seperate the promoter from the man. Yes addiction can lead to other character flaws and I would like to think he is being sincere. Still I offer prayers to him and gis family. All the same friend appreciate your commentary. Looking forward to a good night of boxing. Cheers soldier.Posted September 11, 2013 9:25 pm
Know my stuff
Oscar crooked butt is up to something, he probaly has Canello hands illegally wrapped. No one should trust him on this one. Everybody better watch for this jealous crook. He is so jealous of Floyd he would do anything, if I was Floyd, I would not fight any of his fighters.Posted September 11, 2013 9:03 pm
Yes Oscar is a great warrior but he is also a very manipulative addict and crook so dont be an enabler for it will will only keep him hookedPosted September 11, 2013 9:00 pm
Oscar has a serious problem. It doesn’t discriminate un terms of when it decides to resurface and inflict harm on the addict. The man has done a lot for the sport and his star power in his prime rivaled that of Iron mike Tyson. He brought some much needed attention back to the sport. Right niw he is in a crisis and He has my prayers and support. This is not a stunt. Stay strong in Christ Oscar.Posted September 11, 2013 8:34 pm
I also think the Fabulous Four of 2013 is going to pull in more money than any fight any member of 1987’s Fabulous 4 ever pulled down in his life.
Floyd is 36 and unbeaten.
Hagler quit at 32 after losing to a welter coming off a 3-year-layoff.. Leonard never won a fight past age 33… He finished by losing to a lightweight… Duran was ass beaten by guys you never heard of by the time he reached 36… Tommy Hearns was knocked out 3 times in his 20’s.Posted September 11, 2013 8:11 pm
Of course he’s right… Lucas Matthysse’s thunderous left hook wouldn’t put a dent in Tommy’s weak ass chin… And Canelo wouldn’t have punched his liver through his skinny spinal cord.
And Kirkland Laing could outbox the quitter Duran… But never FloydPosted September 11, 2013 8:02 pm
“Ivanov says.., “none of the participants in this Saturday’s card could ”carry Duran’s jockstrap” or that of the other members of “The Fabulous Four”.””
Sorry, Tark. Ivanov is right.Posted September 11, 2013 7:58 pm
PEEJ Right on brother!Posted September 11, 2013 7:27 pm
Ivanov says.., “none of the participants in this Saturday’s card could ”carry Duran’s jockstrap” or that of the other members of “The Fabulous Four”.”
How about Iran Barkley???
Barkley was a crude swinger who knocked Tommy Hearns stiff. Could Barkley carry Hearns’s jockstrap??? Maybe he wouldn’t want to since he beat Hearns twice in two meetings.
How about Terry Norris???
Terry got knocked out a lot of times, including before he ever stepped into a ring with Ray Leonard. Could Norris carry Leonard’s jockstrap??? Maybe he wouldn’t want to—since he routed the 34-year-old Leonard so comprehensively, knocking him down twice and giving Ray a boxing lesson.
How about Kirkland Laing???
Laing didn’t do a lot, but he did beat Duran. Could he carry Duran’s jockstrap??? Maybe he wouldn’t want to the way he outboxed the HOFer.
How about Marcos Geraldo???
Could Geraldo carry Leonard or Hagler’s jockstrap??? Maybe he would rather carry the jockstraps of the 10 guys who knocked him out before he ever faced Leonard or Hagler… He went the distance with Marv and Ray with no problem.Posted September 11, 2013 7:07 pm
let’s give Oscar a break. The man has given so much to boxing. Let’s cut him some slack.Posted September 11, 2013 7:03 pm
Golden Boy has a five fight contract for Mayweather and so they probably want him to keep winning. Their main partner Al Haymon has already admitted to wanting Garcia to win too so maybe Oscar doesnt want to be their when the crazy cards are read against Matthysse and Canelo.
Lots of possible hypothesis herePosted September 11, 2013 6:56 pm
Nah, Oscar will be there! This was strategicPosted September 11, 2013 6:15 pm
This is a huge fight and alot of festivities going on, too much tempation leading up to the fight and tons of parties after the fight. Possibly done for precautionary measures.Posted September 11, 2013 6:10 pm
oscar is a good dude and one of the best ever and made the most money ever and mayweather couldnt beat him in his pime that y he waited until late n his caPosted September 11, 2013 5:33 pm
*speechPosted September 11, 2013 5:14 pm
This is to get out of giving a speak at the post fight press conference…he knows he won’t be able to face the fans and admit he was wrong about Canelo beating Floyd LOLPosted September 11, 2013 5:13 pm
LOL I don’t buy this. Fight has massive publicity without Oscar pulling this. I think his timing was rotten but something happened that prompted this just days before the fight. 1. Millie ultimatum. 2. Millie caught Oscar banging chicks. 3. An intervention. Otherwise he’d just wait till after the fight. People in the real world handle their responsibilities before entering rehab but Oscar still isn’t in the real world.Posted September 11, 2013 5:13 pm
stick to boxing. The dude’s got a cocaine addiction. Let him get well!Posted September 11, 2013 4:17 pm
Urgent because of Canelo loses he is gonna be drinking and doing what ever else he does.Posted September 11, 2013 4:06 pm
Ivan, I think Oscar only had two choices. Either just disappear before the fight, or announce that he was going into rehab. There would be controversy either way. I say let’s give Oscar a break. The man has given so much to boxing. Let’s cut him some slack.Posted September 11, 2013 3:40 pm
As a lightweight, Floyd would have no answer for Roberto Duran. None. Roberto would pound him into the ground.Posted September 11, 2013 3:37 pm
fabulous 4 is hagler, hearns, leonard, duran. Hagler and Hearns are too big for Foyd, the others are too good for him. canelo is not in the same league with anyone mantioned here even floyd.Posted September 11, 2013 3:32 pm
FMJ couldn’t carry the Duran’s jockstrap? That’s cold, man, cold but not entirely off. Old style beats the new style.Posted September 11, 2013 3:29 pm
