AssyrianGod…., “I dont think Mitchell would have beaten McCall, Coetzee, prime Joe Bugner or Carl Williams (depending on how motivated Williams or Bugner were), nor would he have given Lewis, Witherspoon, Smith or Tyson any trouble.”

Mitchell would beat Coetzee, Bugner, and Williams easily.. McCall? No… Tyson? No… Witherspoon? No… Bruno? Tough to say… Lewis? Obviously not.

Arreola would beat Coetzee, bugner, Williams, McCall, and Bruno, Witherspoon NO… Tyson NO… Lewis NO…

They are confident that they may bore us to death. Maybe they will run from each other.

Arreola’s busier for sure but I reckon Banks has faster hands and is quicker on his feet, least compared to Arreola!

Posted September 5, 2013 11:12 am

I’m not sure I’d agree that Banks is “faster” and he definitely does not over exert himself(throwing one punch at a time). Arreola is very busy and always has been so the belly thing is kinda not even an issue.

Posted September 5, 2013 7:06 am

Banks is not really “fast”. He’s plodding and he certainly takes his time. He doesn’t throw combinations and looks for an opening for one punch. Arreola will throw several and absolutely devistate Mitchell with his agression and nonstop assault/pursuit. The whole reason Mitchell beat Banks the last time was because Banks was spending the whole night looking for one punch. No pressure and still had Mitchell in trouble. This guy doesn’t do well if there is severe pressure on him and someone lands… He’s done!

Mitchell’s wizard of Oz song “if I only had a chin”.

Posted September 5, 2013 6:59 am

mitchell will reach deep inside his soul and pull out the boxing technician that he is to showcase his boxing skills, the mitchell team plan? arreola will come as he is, come fat or come skinny, does what he does best and sucker mitchell into a slugfest. arreola has been skinny as many times as mitchell has been a boxing technician.

Another thing to keep in mind is this: If blown-up cruiserweight Jonathan Banks could knock out Seth Mitchell, then Mitchell will be CRUSHED by the clubbing punches of Arreola!! Arreola has a very good chin- most would NOT have gotten up, much less went the distance after taking that KILLER right-hand from Bermine Stiverne, which broke Arreola’s nose. Mitchell’s chin, on the other hand, is made of papyrus.

Posted September 5, 2013 4:17 am

A prime Frank Bruno would’ve CRUSHED Seth Mitchell, period enda story! Arreola will knock Seth Mitchell out in the first round, I think.

Posted September 5, 2013 4:10 am

Arreola will be eating burritos off his belt in the dressing room after a round 3 KO of Mitchell.

Posted September 5, 2013 3:34 am

Bruno has been in with Lewis, Tyson, McCall, Witherspoon, Bonecrusher Smith, Bugner , albeit only beating McCall and Bugner.

I`d forgive him looking less than stellar against those guys more than I`d forgive him getting dealt with by Jonathan Banks, who let’s be honest was a passable cruiserweight and nothing at heavy.

Posted September 5, 2013 1:25 am

AssyrianGod…, “Bruno had a superior jab, power and defense.”

I actually don’t think Bruno had a superior anything except size and strength.. He had good power, not superior power.

His jab was slow and easily countered as Tim Witherspoon had no problem with doing. His jab was fair at best.

His defense was chock full of holes.. He could take a pretty good punch in the beginning.. but not as his career went along.. His defense was terrible — and I guess Mitchell’s isn’t much better at this particular time. He’s in trouble if he can’t defend Arreola’s slow shots. He certainly has no business fighting Wilder if he can’t beat the trash out of Arreola and stop him.

Bruno’s best assets were his size and strength.. He has that in common with Mitchell.

Arreola never looks in shape but he sure is a tough muther. Gots a good punch too. Not afraid to take a few to land a few either.

Arreola by KO…………………….Saturday on Showtime, and I yammana watch a good one going down. Gonna be a few scotches going down too.

Posted September 4, 2013 9:25 pm

Got to give Seth some credit, immedietley rematches the guy who KO’d him and wins and now fights a guy who’s style is all wrong for him. In saying that I dont think this fight goes more then 3 rounds unfortunatley. Even after getting his nose broken and body treated like a pinata, Chris still kept coming at Stiverne until it caught up with him in the last 2 rounds.

Kid Blast

No, it will be fast and brutal

Posted September 4, 2013 5:20 pm

Arreola will win this by KO.I think Seth has a glass chin and no real defense. Arreola will stalk him and keep him under pressure for the duration of the fight and knock him out

Posted September 4, 2013 4:59 pm

Kid Blast

Tark, no matter what you say about Seth, his porcelain chin will do him in. Sad, because he is a likable kid.

Chris will bring plenty of a-s-s- heat in this one. Look for a blitz attack.

Fight Aficionado

“Fight aficionado – really based on areola body shape you will predict the fight” – Adrian, I typically don’t make predictions in even money fights until the weigh-n because there’s often a lot of info there. Not so much how the body looks but the weight which gives clues to how hard he trained, plus the body language of each guy. Sometimes in the open workouts days before the fight there’s also tells.

Posted September 4, 2013 4:37 pm

Fight Aficionado

“@fight aficionado-haha your making a prediction based on what a fighter said in an interview? Come on bro” – THE DR, while we can write off most boxers’ comments prefight, we can also look for tells. How many times did a boxer who threatened to retire if he lost actually win impressively? It’s a sign he’s got one foot out the door. His talent and chin should carry him anyhow but if his mind isn’t there Mitchell can bust him up. In an even money fight it’s the intangibles that make the difference.

Posted September 4, 2013 4:34 pm

Fight aficionado – really based on areola body shape you will predict the fight? Don’t wait for areola to look like Tyson or mitchel even if he comes in the best shape of his life …

Areola will be too much for Mitchell he will stop him early !

Posted September 4, 2013 2:03 pm

Mitchell’s chin is a blend of very fine china and cotton candy. First decent punch from Arreola will have Mitchell doin the Cha-Cha..

Posted September 4, 2013 12:24 pm

I think Chris will take this one within 8 rds. If he removed the obstacles and really trained he should finish this one in a sloppy 8 or less rd fashion.

Posted September 4, 2013 11:59 am

Huckster hit it on the head! Arreola’s chin is the big difference. The Nightmare by brutal early KO!

Posted September 4, 2013 10:44 am

@AssyrianGod.., In my view Mitchell is a lot faster, smarter, and smoother than Frank Bruno was, even at this early stage. He’s not muscle bound. He’s not slow. He’s not awkward.

Seth has a lot of problems he needs to iron out. Bad habits. Horrid clinching skills. Poor defensive skills. It’s heart breaking to see deficiencies like this in a kid with so much natural talent—with more than 25 professional fights, and several years of experience and training under his belt. He should have some of these skills wrapped and he doesn’t.

When I look at Seth’s progress, he’s had to work out a lot of this stuff on his own. Unfortunately not every kid has an ATG trainer. The only thing most boxers can do is watch themselves get knocked out 1000 times while painstakingly trying to fix things in sparring sessions—so maybe they won’t get smashed again when they fight the same guy in their next fight … like he did Banks.

It takes a lot of guts to say, “I want an immediate rematch” because you risk paying the same price twice. It also takes a lot of guts to turn around and fight a big, tough puncher who has more amateur and pro fights than you have. Somebody 90% of pro trainers believe will KTFO of you.

I’m not sure how smart it is—but it shows Seth is as serious as a heart attack about his career. Seth is one cold MFer to take chances like this.

Arreola called himself as world class athlete. LOL Said if he loses to Mitchell he will consider retirement, he doesn’t want to be a name on someones record. LOL You are not a name, Holyfield, Tyson, Bowe, Lewis, those are names. Those guys where world champions. Arreola just another fighter. If he loses to Mitchell it’s no big deal, if he wins, it’s no big deal, who’s Mitchell. Arreola had his chances at the title and was beat down by Vitali and was out classed by Admeck. Arreola should win by KO but Gate Keeper is all he will ever be.

Arreola will go down in boxing history as a good punching bag. Mitchell will just go down.

Mitchell reminds me of a weaker version of Frank Bruno in some ways. He is powerful, hard hitting, determined but somewhat stiff, and does not know what to do when he is hurt. But Bruno had a better jab and more power in my opinion.

Posted September 4, 2013 1:20 am

I remember Jimmy Young had a few bad experiences in early fights. Ultimately he vowed to remake himself into a good boxer and saw some really good results — even if he never won a world title. Jimmy got hooked on drugs or he would have done even better. Drugs were a massive problem for a lot of boxers of his era.

Seth is a really hard worker with big dreams. Very determined to make it. If he goes down versus Arreola he’ll be heart broken – but he’ll just see it as another sign he has to struggle that much harder.

Crossroads fight or not — he’s not ready to cash in and find another career. He’s committed to the long haul win or lose.

Posted September 4, 2013 1:15 am

I dont like Arreola but he is a test for any top 10 heavy. He hits hard, hits in volume, is tough as hell and does not stop coming at you. Seth’s chin will be tested and he will get KOed. He is not as durable as Stiverne and does not have his punching power.

Posted September 4, 2013 1:10 am

If Arreola is a fraction of what he could be he will win by knockout! Did he train and cut back his eating?

Posted September 4, 2013 12:41 am

No way Areola loses this. This wont go long enough for Mitchell to try plan B

Posted September 3, 2013 11:51 pm

te tumbo

Cristobal has definitely been underperforming in several of his recent fights but the talent that once made him a formidable contender is still there. he wins this fight if he rededicates himself across the line. otherwise, retirement is preferable. thing is, i don’t think that Seth can even withstand a sloppy and careless Arreola. this is a genuinely risky bout for Mitchell and little more than a tune-up for a rededicated Arreola who will be gunning for that sensitive chin and jaw from the opening bell. i’m imagining Seth desperately clinging to Cristobal’s ample waistline after being dinged by the first solid shot.

Posted September 3, 2013 11:32 pm

Seth Mitchell methinks.

Arreola has never had the discipline to live up to his potential. And there was a great deal of potential. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mitchell stopped him, which is sad, as Arreola is a far more skilled and talented boxer.

This is a pick em fight. I was leaning toward Arreola but that last loss and fact he’s saying he’ll retire if he loses has me rethinking. Will wait for the weigh-in before predicting this one.
