If we had a MW Super 6 we would have to put Felix Sturm in there.

The Truth

Its time for a MW super six tournament. Martinez, Geale, GGG, Quillin, Pirog, Murray. Let’s get it on.

Squared-Circle, I am not too big on Chavez. He is good but he doesn’t have much for defense and I think both GGG and Quillin could beat him. He has a side advantage over both but he also isn’t dedicated to the sport like you should be. For Quillin vs GGG and I think its a wash. I am slightly for Chocolate but I might be a bit bias there. I would love to see them all face off including the champ as well as I think his time is about done.

“Quillin isn’t tested anymore than GGG is. I would take Peter over him but its close, real close.”

Hey Terror Tim, I really respect your opinions and know that you’re one of my peeps from the Mile High City (303). So just out of curiosity, are you saying that you would take Chocolate over 3G or Chavez???

Chavez Jr’s resume doesn’t exactly read the who’s who of the sport either. I like GGG over him. Chavez Jr is far too easy to hit and no one can take GGG hits cleanly all night. Quillin isn’t tested anymore than GGG is. I would take Peter over him but its close, real close. I think Martinez is on his way out. He looked rather poor in his last outing and both Quillin and GGG are better than Murray IMO.

Quillin/GGG is a real pick-em fight. If Chavez Jr. can still make 160 he KOs GGG in brutal fashion. Jr. is still the best body puncher in Boxing and I see that as being the key to Jr. slowing him down, breaking him down and knocking him out. I don’t like the fact that Chavez Jr. called him up to 168 while GGG isn’t even a big MW.

Quilled probably has the best chance against GGG. He can box a little, he can counter really good and has power. I also think GGG runs 160 and he would beat Quillem in a damn good fight while it lasted

Awesome job of debunking my statements there… how can anyone argue against the incredibly well structured arguments you made to prove me wrong? I can clearly see that you’re a bonafide Rhodes Scholar.

Does anyone seriously think any other middleweight can beat this bloke?
Only Martinez would last 12 rounds and that’s cos he can move/run around (well used to be able to) From what I’ve seen, and I confess that is not much, GGG has quite a lot of skill as well as undeniable power. People question his defence, or how he fights when being backed up and on the back foot, but if he has never been dropped, knocked off balance, etc in 470+ fights he obviously has some good defence.
I suspect GGG can fight just as well on the back foot and I’d like to see him in his next fight show just this. Let the other man come towards him and still hurt him as I believe he could do.

Im not one of these who jumps on the bandwagon but from what I’ve seen of all MWs, GGG is currently the best.

Apparently Team Golovkin were making inquiries about Martin Murray’s US visa situation not long ago so I’d guess that’s the direction they’re headed.

Geale mentioned Golovkin and Martinez called him out, but neither are in a position to actually fight (i.e. Geale is tied up with Barker and then it’s looking like a mandatory following that, whilst Martinez was talking next year September!).

Chavez Jr also called out Golovkin, but there’s a weird scenario there where Chavez SEEMS to be tied up too. I thought Chavez was supposed to be locked in with Vera, but that isn’t even showing on boxrec any more… but to confuse it more, the WBC just yesterday ordered him to fight Rubio in rematch for the interim title, but said he doesn’t need to do it until he “gets through the fight he’s already signed for”… so maybe he IS fighting Vera, maybe he’s not, but it seems he’s signed to fight someone.
Anyway, he also called for the GGG fight to be at super middle which is a bit of a joke and makes me wonder what weight this “phantom fight” he’s signed for is at.
But if Chavez stops smoking weed and gets his weight sorted, then I’d love to see a Golovkin-Chavez fight.

But yeah, it’s pretty easy to see that Murray is the only one that’s called out Golovkin that is actually in a position to take the fight at any time soon… and given Golovkin’s busy schedule so far this year, I can’t see him waiting around idle for 6 months or more for one of these other guys to be finally ready to fight.

Woop Woop

“Name an opponent soon”. Should be one of the numerous fighters to call out GGG in the past few weeks. But probably be another undeserved blown up Welter or Jnr Middle or ring rusty or injured opponent. However said opponent may have made a name for themselves by being in unsuccessful title fights or being KO’ed by an actual named fighter. This is to continue his smoke and mirrors bluff to seem relevant after being given his belt instead of beating an actual champion. Choooo Choooooo Hype Train recommencing to the next station. Suckers All Aboard!!
