The whole of boxing should be like the super six, with all the top fighters fighting each other constantly. If there is a bad KO I understand a fighter taking a tune up but the guys at the top should be fighting other top guys in every fight, win loose or draw and carry on. There are far too many pointless fights happening where fights are just matched with other fighters way below their skill level.

Price should not retire, HW needs big guys who are there to be stopped… We know this guy is suspect as HELL but heat have further entertainment value..

Price vs. Fury should have happened about a year ago when both were unbeaten and fan interest was high. Too many natural matchups fall through because promoters are unwilling to take the risk and strike while the iron is hot. Well, where are Price’s promoters now? Macklin and Barker, Lee and Duddy, too, should have happened when they mattered. Natural matchups that create fan interest come up rarely, and it is a sin to waste the opportunity and excitement they create.
Groves and DeGale took the risk. DeGale lost, but he has carried on and is, like Groves, close to the top. Greedy, timid promoters and managers squander these opportunities waiting for an ideal financial situation that, often, never comes. The boxing public gets cheated and loses interest in the sport.

No one would blame Price for retiring? And that comment is what’s wrong with boxing! This is a sport and there has to be a winner and a looser in every fight. Yet fans talk as though if a fighter looses he should hang his gloves up, and that is ridiculous. It’s why most of the fights we really want to see happen never actually get made, because every fighter and promoter is scared stiff of loosing a single fight. Price just needs to go back to the drawing board and try and put right the things which cost him this fight. If I were a trainer I’d love to get my hand on Price, I think he’s got me great skills and natural attdibutes, he just needs some serious conditioning.

Tark I wholly agree, however, the fighter must be someone who can listen and make the adjustments, big Davie isn’t the sharpest tool in the box and I cant see him being able to take much in when he’s buzzed up with shots and gassed, this explains why he stayed amateur for years, he’s a 3 round fighter.

Tyson Fury will get beat by Thomson also. Tyson better cash out against Haye since he’s on a collision course with a hard right hand to the face, whoever he fights.

Price should have regrouped and fought 3 or 5 tomato cans in stead of fighting an experienced veteran again who just knocked him out. Boxing is a mental sport first and Price was clearly not mentally strong going into the rematch.
I’ve never been impressed by Price, from seeing him get knocked out in the Olympics and thru out his pro career. He’s a domestic fighter.

The last thing any boxer needs is a “vocal” trainer… You need a calm and athoritative trainer rather than one who starts screaming.. You don’t need a motivator.. You need a guy who tells you exactly what adjustments to make.. If you’re tight he can say, “loosen up man. You’re tight.” You don’t need a guy shouting, “Come on, throw more punches and knock this guy out” when somebody is countering the crap out of you..

It’s better to hear, “He’s sitting on your jab.. You’re too sloppy with it. You have to feint better. Relax out there man…take a deep breath guy. You have to be sharper, more deceptive, and more accurate with with that jab. Set him up and stick it up his nose the next time you throw it.”

I saw John Scully screaming in Chad Dawson’s corner, and I thought, “That’s it.. That’s the last fight they’re going to work together because he not telling him what adjustments to make.”

K2 Fan

Now that Price found out what the ” bum ” Tony can do , maybe he should try ANOTHER ” bum ” that Wlad fought ; Wach ! After Wlad pulled the trigger on Wach , everybody was saying what a ” bum ” Wach is and how Wlad is taking only the easy fights . Personally , I would loooove to see just how well Price would do against Wach and how ” slow ” Wach would look against Price . Can anyone imagine where Price would be , if Wlad were to unload on him like he did on Wach in the 6th , 7th and 8th round ? My personal opinion is ; if ANY
guy can withstand such hammering and keep his feet : HE AIN’T NO BUM !
And please don’t start telling me about Price’s ” power ” . Wach caught Wlad , at the end of the fifth round with a straight right that only served to get the cobwebs out . After that , Wlad just lowered the boom ! Is it just possible that all those guys look so slow , because Wlad is so Goddamned fast ? Is it just possible that Wlad is so Goddamned GOOD , that he makes everybody else
look mediocre ?!

His career is still young. Why should he retire? Mind you he’s been exposed and this is a HUGE step back, nevertheless. Nowhere near time to talk retirement. You guys are probably the same ones calling for WLad to retire after losing to sanders or Thompson after his second loss to wladimir.

sory dave, but ya cant put muscles on your chin.Price doesnt have a fighters heart. He basically turned his back and quit when the going got tough.
The blueprint to beating Price is to hit him and hit him and hit him….he’ll quit

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

The HW King of Liverpool is clearly not good enough for Top International competition. He’ll never be the best HW from the British Isles.

Shatterd Dreams

Straight rematches are never a good idea, if Wladimir Klitschko had jumped straight back in with Corrie Sanders after getting stopped in 2 rounds he may not be where he is today. It’s a long way back for Price now, he may never face a Klitschko after looking so much like he would. It may take Price a few years of slow rebuilding to get himself to the championship level, time is on his side though.

I’m sure Price is glad to see the back of Tony Thompson. If he’s gunna continue he needs to go down a few levels and get some help so that he stops working himself up before a fight. It’s back to the drawing board for Price, he even forgot to jab last night.

good luck to price. Of course he has stamina issues. If he kept up after the 2nd , it would have been a great fight.
