Broner vs Matthysse the fans wants it and then Madiana or Ortiz.

It’s Me, Ernie

Broner is too sharp, powerful and quick for Maidana. He’ll blast the kid out in three or less, probably one actually…

Broner vs Alexander sounds better…will it happen??

I DONT KNOW IF U REALIZE THAT BRONER IS ALSO 23 YEARS OLD VS A GUY THATS 32 AT THE END OF HIS CAREER AND WAS STILL MADE TO LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT

HAPPYBOY- PAULIE IS A BUM??? WOW SO BRONER WAS EXPOSED BY A BUM THEN!!!! PAULIE IS ONE OF THE MOST TECHNICALLY SOUND AND SKILLED BOXERS IN THE GAME!!! I GUESS ITS HIS FAULT THAT HE HAS BROKEN BOTH OF HIS HANDS NUMEROUS TIMES IN HIS CAREER AND STILL FINDS WAYS TO WIN WORLD TITLES IN 2 WEIGHT CLASSES. LEARN ABOUT BOXING BEFORE U COME ON HERE AND MAKE MORONIC COMENTS ABOUT STUFF U OBVIOUSLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!!!

“Hidalgo – stupid comparison, one is a multi division champion, future HOFmer etc while Paulie is just a featherfisted bum.” Really? You’d best watch the Mayweather/Guerrero fight again.

Yeah… Broner was shaking his head all night — right after getting hit with fast, flurries of combinations that scored. The one judge who had 115-113 for PM is the only one who gave proper credit for PM’s hundreds of body shots that landed.

Shaking your head is just like then you see guys smile after getting hit. It basically means that the guy just got tagged good and is pretending like it didn’t hurt or score.
I can assure you that AB was much more sore the next day than PM. Probably had to fully wrap his rib cage with ice packs and tape for a couple days. I’d bet anything that his liver and kidneys and ribs are still sore. Real talk.

TARK….LOOK AT THE NEW STYLE from Maidana….NOT THE OLD STYLE.

Marcos is a warrior proven time and time again TARK. He will walk AB down and throw more punches than AB has ever faced. I see this as a big test for AB and Marcos will knock him down and then AB will be way off his game.

“having Paulie holding, ducking, dodging, and slipping out of corners.” Sounds exactly like Floyd Mayeather Jr.

TARK, where do you rank Broner as a welterweight?

Posted June 26, 2013 7:57 am

TARK

Broner wouldn’t fight Maidana like he fought Paulie..

AB had to walk Paulie down and deal with running, wrestling, having his legs grabbed, having Paulie holding, ducking, dodging, and slipping out of corners.

Maidana would walk to Broner.. AB could pick him off all night.. smash him with jabs, hooks, right counters, ripping left hooks to the body the kind Amir Khan floored Maidana with.. It’s an ideal fight for Broner..

Malignaggi was a super easy fight where AB spent most of his time shaking his head because Paulie couldn’t land anything effective, … and talking to Paulie about his lack of firepower and accuracy.. With Maidana he won’t have time to carry on a long winded conversation, with a lot of smiling and head shaking … There will be too many openings to take advantage of, and that will occupy most of Adrien’s time… A sure stoppage for AB.

Lomachenko has 300 plus amateur fights and has won 2 Olympic Games, 3 world championships and what not. Browner never even competed internationally.

Patrick2, bronser never won any national amateur tournament, let alone any international. I’m very skeptical to 300-19. That must be bs. The kid is just not skilled enough for that to be true. What’s the point of 300 plus fights against the kids in your area?

Throwing more punches does not equal out boxing someone. Broner landed the harder more judge friendly punches. Paulie put up a decent fight but he got beat plain and simple.

“Paulie looked like woody woodpecker with that red hair.”

Yep, and he should be laughing just like Ole Woody too the way he outboxed that fool and exposed him as an over-hyped fraud. What happened to all the loud: “I’m gonna F you up Paulie! I’m gonna F you up Paulie! I’m gonna F you up Paulie!”

That mouthpiece Broner didn’t F up anything besides his own reputation, future prospects and earning capacity. He barely squeaked by with this gift-wrapped robbery, and so ultimately… AB’s stock went down. Bottom line.

@ Hidalgo — Thanks for the thoughtful response. I agree Broner is not perfect. But, for folks to suddenly call him “all hype” after one/his last outing is ridiculous. The fact is Broner dominated Paulie, though from the causal-fans perspective it looked like it was a close(er) fight. Did you read Vivek’s write-up on this site? Me, I still see Broner being a big/huge problem for anyone between 135-140.

Posted June 25, 2013 9:18 pm

“He had over 300 amateur fights (300-19) and is now 27-0 with 22 KOs and is a 3-division champ at only 23 years old. Yep, “all hype.” That doesn’t make him perfect, Patrick2. And may I remind you, even Mayweather said Broner “gets hit too much.” Paulie Malignaggi was his first great test. If and when Broner fights Lucas Matthysse, that will be Broner’s final exam at 140.

I like Maidana .. Ilke Broner and in the past, angles and movement gives Maidana problems, no one is going to try to trade with Maidana, I know Broner wouldn’t … Sounds good and enticing but I don’t think either fighter wants this fight.. If I had to pick a winner, I’d go with Maidana but in a few years after Broner learns more and is in there with different styles, then Broner would have NO problems with him remember Khan beat Maidana but also, there were moments when Paulie gave Broner fits
PEACE

First, Gamboa had plenty of troubles at lightweight in his fight against Perez. Gamboa seemed confused on how to overcome a lighweight’s greater length and strength. If I was managing Gamboa, a return to super featherweight or featherweight would be priority one, and avoiding any talk of fighting Broner would be priority two — Broner would dominate Gamoa.
Second, Maidana would be a good test for Broner at 140, a fight I think he’d win as Maidana is pretty easy to find/hit. Maidana has heart though, and a solid chin, so Broner would be required keep it up over 12. With a solid win, from there, a more complete, and powerful “Maidana” in the name of Matthysse should then be next. That fight would be a thriller!

Broner should fight Ortiz first and then Matthysse and leave Madiana last.

” I had it 115-113 pm.” Mayweather86, I also scored the fight 115-113 Malignaggi on fight night. But when I watched it the next morning, I scored it 116-113 for Paulie, having scored the 7th round even. What Paulie did prove is that Broner has problems with highly skilled boxers. He’ll have even more problems with highly skilled boxers that have power. Floyd would walk all over Broner at this point in time. Maidana would be a very good test for Broner because Maidana has serious power and his technical boxing skills have significantly improved under the tutelage of Robert Garcia–Maidana has shown improvement in each of his last three fights.

LOL sweet_scientist, you haven’t seen Matthysse obviously. The dude is a beast for real. No BS. He’s the best pure fighter 140-147 today hands down. His boxing skills are very underestimated. Don’t underestimate this dude. He’s the real deal unlike Broner and Jeff Lacy.

Gamboa Broner would be a great match-up. Gamboa is a the more complete fighter but Broner is bigger and stronger.
Gamboa wins this fight hands down if he’s in tip top condition and choses to box smart and exploit Broner’s weaknesses. I cannot see Broner beat an elite fighter with active feet, decent pop and experience. Gamboa needs to be careful and move constantly and punish Broner with quick combos and pop shot him all night.

Broner would KO Gamboa. Broner may not be a 147lb fighter with power but Gamboa has been knocked down by smaller with less punching power fighters.

Sorry took me awhile to get back at ya squared circle. I had it 115-113 pm. Even after the second viewing without distractions or the commentary. Still had the same score 7-5 for paulie. Gave 1-4 pm, 5-8 Broner, 9 pm, 10 broner, 11,12 pm. Just felt that Broner didn’t come into the fight to take the title. He expected it to be given to him. I agree Broner maybe needs to go back in weight 140,135. Although as you pointed out the only big fight at 135 is gamboa. Aside from that he should seek out 140. Obviously I’m a Floyd fan but I’m not a “fan-boy”. I’ve argued several instances that I believe castillo won the first encounter. But I also believe he rectified that injustice with an immediate rematch he dominated. I respect Floyd for his talent, skills and overall ring iq. But i also accept the glaring weakness in his resume. I’m an odd sort of mayweather fan compared to most on this site. Had to give that little backdrop to go forward with this. Although Broner idolizes Floyd, hes wayy behind Floyd in many areas. Broner has very poor footwork, ie he couldn’t cut the ring off against paulie at all. Couldn’t corner him to land big shots. Couldn’t do much of anything really. Just baffled me and still does to this moment.

mayweather86:
Many thanks, mano. I think Broner’s smartest move is to go back down to 135lbs. But he’s been looking pretty pumped-up lately and might have some real problems getting back down to that weight and maintaining it. The other major problem with him going back down to 135lbs is everyone would demand that he fights Gamboa.

Although Gamboa is smaller than AB, he’s an Olympic Gold Medalist and comes from one of the very best amateur programs in the world: Cuban National Team. I’m thinking that Gamboa would likely outbox AB with his superior technical skills.

Broner wants to be JUST LIKE his hero FMJ, so his ultimate goal is to go undefeated while getting stinkin’ rich at the same time. Even if that requires ducking some dangerous fighters. Therefore, I don’t think that AB wants any part of Gamboa. In fact, Gamboa might be the secret reason why AB moved-up in the first place.

How did you score the AB vs. PM fight, bro???

Squared circle ..absolutely has the beat once again. Broner completely let me down against paulie. Had him all the way and blew it. Honestly I think this matchup should happen soon. Be interesting to see if Broner adjusts to the weight cause I didn’t even recognize him Saturday. Also gotta agree with squared circle that Broner, at least the version I saw would get his a** whooped by the top welters.

“Bottom line is that Broners debut turned into a major Flop.. totally unimpressive against this hand picked feather fisted over the hill Paulie” – Cosign PE. I didn’t watch the fight since it wasn’t a matchup worth staying in for on a Saturday night, so I can’t comment on the scorecards. But I was shocked to read it was a split decision on Sunday. If Hatton TKOs a younger, faster Paulie then Broner’s struggling to a decision against an older, heavier Paulie looks like crap.

Not really a test. Maidana is simply too slow for Broner. Why all this talk about Maidana simply because GBP suggested the fight? That’s because they know it’s minimal risk for their house fighter. Matthysse is the Argentine who would not only test Broner he’s put him to sleep. But that won’t get made.

Posted June 24, 2013 8:09 pm

lol

Broner did well… he’s just not very active at times and he doesn’t bend his knees to get more leverage….. he needs to refine some things, but Paulie didnt do anything… he landed pitty pat shots 99.99% of the time… and Broner didn’t make him pay as much as he could have… but whatever, bring on Maidanna? lol

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

philly shell: If you really believe that Matthysse got beat by Alexander and Judah, you don’t know much about boxing. Those two “Spit Decisions” were both straight-up hometown ROBBERIES and every fight fan worth his salt knows it.

Either Matthysse or Danny Garcia will destroy Broner. Maidana is slow, but hits hard, so that could be a good match-up for AB.

Broner has average defensive skills at beat. He also has a poor stance, poor balance, and is flat-footed and slow on his feet. His below-average rendition of the Philly-shell and shoulder roll with be picked apart by one of the elite 5-8 fighters at 140/147lbs with a whistling right-hand and decent body attack. Real talk.

Posted June 24, 2013 6:21 pm

Uncommon

I think Broner wins against Maidana. Maidana does not have the skills to beat Broner in my opinion. He just has power and that ain’t enough. Broner will turn him into punches and move at angles that will nullify Maidana’s power he will also dig to the body sapping Maidana strength and the footwork we did not see against Paulie we will see him use against Maidana. Now Broner vs. Matthysse is a better match up, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

Posted June 24, 2013 5:58 pm

Matthysse rather than Maidana. If Broner beat Matthysse fair and square I’d reluctantly have to give him his dues even though he comes across as a manner-less A hole.

Good fight…Madaina there 2 be hit when he lunges but will Broner fire? looked reluctant 2 throw back at Paulie when getting peppered..Madaina can throw haed ,give n take 4 12 if needed..If Broner is tuff n has a chin,it will show in this fight,if he dosen’t than the hype train comes 2 a screeching halt by brutal KO…Madaina vulnerable 2 the body, lets hope we see it

Broner may not be the 2nd coming of PBF, but he’s way better than he looked in the Paulie fight. I think he rolls right over Maidana if that fight is made.

Posted June 24, 2013 4:26 pm

hecdog

Maidana won’t stand a chance against Broner. Don’t be fooled by the Malignaggi fight. Maidana is going to come forward and try and take Broner’s head off because he believes in his power, and Broner gave a bit of an illusion in the Malignaggi fight to those that believe he isn’t that good. Broner will hit Maidana with everything he throws. Maidana does have good power. but Broner has all the advantages. Speed, boxing ability, agility and movement, younger, defense and his style will be enough to stop or win a decisive UD over Maidana. This fight will be similar to Gatti vs Mayweather when they fought. Broner will get better and be impressive to many doubters.

Posted June 24, 2013 4:22 pm

I think they’ll find a smaller guy for Broner to bully. They won’t be “testing” Broner unless a gazillion dollars are there to be made. Can’t bust the hype just yet! He looks damn good against the little guys though!
