LOL – I’ve never seen you idiots so Happy.. YOu’d think you won the World Cup or something.. I thought JuanMa was a chinless bum? who was damaged.. So why all the cheering for Garcia like he just Beat The Worlds Best? It’s obvious that neither Salido nor JuanMa have been the same since their very brutal Matches.. then Garcia tricks JuanMa into starving down to 126lbs and decides he’s not going to even try to make the weight and you idiots are here acting like he’s just beaten Mike Tyson and the Next Great something?? LOL, what’s going to happen to Garcia when he has to face Broner, Matthysee, Danny Garcia, Gamboa, Rigo?? LOL, I guess beating a Rican is a huge achievment for you guys.. since you really haven’t beaten any top unbeaten P4P guy in a very long time.. Garcia really didn’t prove much beating an allready damaged, chinless weight drained Lopez… We’ll see what happens to Garcia down the road… I’ll be here like always when the next great Hyped Mexican implodes like Rios, Arreola, Ortiz, Arce, Montiel, Fernando Lardass, chavez cheato Jr. and soon very soon Ciinnabum.

Mikey’s head movement wasn’t always GREAT. You obviously haven’t seen many of his Fights. Check the end of the Salido Fight and you’ll see that I am CORRECT on that….Before last night Mikey relied on using his legs and gloves to avoid shots…Last night his head movement was MAGNIFICENT. He’s still getting BETTER as he SHOULD. He’s only 25 yrs old. NICE way to watch Canelo’s performance and stay ahead. Now he has to work on his two fisted POWER and pinpoint accuracy to match you…..I must say that Canelo already surpassed where you were at 22 and he will probably surpass where you are NOW when he becomes 25….But as long as no one invents a time machine you remain the BETTER Fighter in the PRESENT. Congrats!!!

Mikey’s head movement was great vs Salido… Didn’t get caught with vicious head shots like Juanma Lopez did.. He got hit with a tiny percentage and didn’t present a target.. He’s obviously still getting better but his head movement was always good for his experience.

This article is about modern ethnic groups. For other uses, see Pygmy (disambiguation).

Baka dancers in the East Province of Cameroon
A pygmy is a member of an ethnic group whose average height is unusually short; anthropologists define pygmy as a member of any group where adult men are on average less than 150 cm (59 inches) tall.[1] A member of a slightly taller group is termed “pygmoid”.[2] The term is best associated with peoples of Central Africa, such as the Aka, Efé and Mbuti.[3] If the term pygmy is defined as a group’s men having an average height below 1.55 meters, then there are also pygmies in Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Andaman Islands[4] Indonesia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Bolivia, and Brazil,[5] including some Negritos of Southeast Asia.[citation needed]
The term “pygmy” is sometimes considered pejorative. However, there is no single term to replace it.[6] Many prefer to be identified by their ethnicity, such as the Aka (Mbenga), Baka, Mbuti, and Twa.[7] The term Bayaka, the plural form of the Aka/Yaka, is sometimes used in the Central African Republic to refer to all local pygmies. Likewise, the Kongo word Bambenga is used in Congo.

Mikey Garcia has always had great head movement Boxtra…. You stay in your best scientific stance for the situation until you have to slip, duck, or roll your head under a punch — with as little head movement as possible to shed the punch cleanly.. You don’t dip and bob your head around with nobody punching at you—like Frazier and all those head bobbers did it.. When Frazier met a big puncher his was sent to the canvas 6 times.. When Jimmy Young met the same puncher, he didn’t bob and dip his head around like an idiot when no punch was coming—but the feather puncher floored the smashing puncher…

Of course that was after the big puncher was exhausted from swinging and missing.

I’ve been drinking MUCH alcohol SO please excuse all of MY typos. Alcohol cannot effect my SUPREME Boxing acumen though. Mikey should move UP unless he just wants the prestige of becoming CHAMP at 130, 135, and 140. The money will be gone by then though. SO I would move UP ASAP and get that money.

Posted June 16, 2013 11:01 pm

CORRECTAMUNDO

“Move up to welterweight? You’re an imbecile, Correctamundo.”-Nope. I am CORRECT Hissydalgo. I remember Iron Beach saying the same thing YOU said when I told him that Marquez can move UP to WW and give Pacquiao a RUN for him money……Mayweather, Pacquiao, Marquez, Bradley, and Broner will all come in LESS than 10 lbs heavier than Mikey. SO IF that Fight isn’t viable than Mayweather vs. Canelo shouldn’t be viable either. Because Canelo will come in 15-20 lbs heavier than Mayweather. NOT 5-10lsb like Mikey would face vs. the aforementioned Fighters.

Posted June 16, 2013 10:55 pm

CORRECTAMUNDO

“How do you figure? Just because Mikey barely breaks the 140 lbs limit you think he should fight at 147?”-NO. Because I’m looking at the TOP Fighters at Welter and NONE of them are very Big guys. Mayweather, Pacquiao, Marquez, Broner, and Bradley won’t come IN much heavier than 147 on Fight night which means that Mikey won’t be outweighed like Mayweather WAS vs. Ortiz and Pacquiao WAS vs. Margarito. SO he should go get the money while its THERE…. Take notes from Broner.

“But there is still an option to move up to 130, and if I decide to stay at 130 because I feel comfortable there after I try it, I may decide to stay there. But I really want to come back to 126. That’s all WELL and GOOD but we’re talking about Boxing HERE. NICE diversion tactic though. That was a career spiraling SPANKING.

Mexican Aztecs, Inca and Myan were the Pygmy indians of the Americas, most under 5 foot tall.. and 90% of Mexicans are mixed with these Pygmy Native Indians which explains their small stature and Block Heads… 95% of Mexican illegals in the USA are mixed with these Pygmy Indians… You’ll always find some tall people in any group but the fact remains that Mexicans are the Smallest in stature of all the Spanish Speaking Countries.. and the fattest.. Canelo had surpassed Mikey with his last performance when he introduced his head movement but Mikey reclaimed the lead when he introduced his own head movement. Mikey has more knockout power in both hands than Canelo does. His poise in the Ring is comparable to Floyd, Ward, Rigo, and Canelo. Mikey is a steaight BEAST of a Boxer. He knocks you out with PURE Boxing not Brawling. Take notes Provodnikov and Froch.

Posted June 16, 2013 8:43 pm

CORRECTAMUNDO

I’ll take Mikey over Pacquiao. I’ll take him over Bradley TOO. Him vs. Broner and Floyd would be BARN burners. I’ve gotta take Broner and Floyd in those matchups but they would be competitive. Mikey vs. Marquez is another GREAT matchup. I’d pay to see each and everyone of those bouts.

Posted June 16, 2013 8:33 pm

CORRECTAMUNDO

Mikey was 142.5 on Fight night which means he should be angling for the Big money at WW forget 130 and 135. Forget 140 TOO. The climb at Welter is less STEEP than the climb at 140. Thats why Khan and Ortiz got the HECK out of there. Mayweather and Pacquiao are only 150 or SO on Fight night and the right Strength and Conditioning coach can get you physically ready for those fights with EASE….even IF they have a 7 pound advantage on Fight night that can and has been overcome….Just watch Floyd on Sept. 14th where his man will have at least an 18 pound advantage on Fight night….Take Pacquiao, then Broner, then Floyd and you’re the GOAT. You always have to shoot for the STARS

Garcia has the best possible fighting style, that of a true boxer-puncher.. He has a great stance which gives him terrific mobility.. He has lights out fire-power.. Unlike most master boxers he keeps his left hand up but doesn’t give up his jab to do that.. He feints and cracks that jab with terrific deception and speed. He doesn’t load his hook or get his body way in front of it like Donaire, who is a very good boxer despite that. Rigondeaux took Donaire’s jab and hook away, but wouldn’t be able to do that to Mikey Garcia. I wanted to see Mikey fight Donaire—but it now seems likely he will move to 130 before Donaire or Rigondeaux move to featherweight.

Hidalgo: ““…a true Mexican…” Oh. As opposed to a false Mexican. I guess.” 1. What I consider a TRUE Mexican is one that was actually born in Mexico, since it’s a nationality. 2. Salido was dominated by Mikey, but it’s undeniable that Salido was coming on strong at the end and Mikey was tiring, and I think there were about 4 rounds left? that’s a lot of fight. I would have liked to see how it would have played out, but that’s the past. Mikey has great skill…. as I’ve been saying, but it’s fairly obvious.

I’ve written that multiple times, but I’m glad you agreed with me, and that now everyone can see it. Like I said, Mikey Garcia has upper echelon skills, P4P level, and deserves to be on that list, definitely above Canelo, if that list is legit. This was forgone IMO. That skill set is unmistakably elite.

first of all, why can’t they find hot ring-card babes like that in PR? i was insulted by the skanks they hauled out for the Salido bouts. second, JuanMono looked like an irate monkey with his pre-fight swaying motion (lol). highlight of the bout for him. third, JuanMono couldn’t find Mikey’s nose and was KTFO. easy, Easy work for Garcia. finally, i really appreciate JuanMono’s KO form. the way he bounces on his ass and flops backwards like that. it provides an authentic and dramatic flair to his performance and is the perfect complement to an opponent’s work. that’s it folks. nothing more to see around here.

i want to see Ponce v. Lopez II. not Jhonny Gonzalez. styles-wise, Gonzalez punishes and KOs Lopez. Ponce will KO Lopez as well but Lopez would enjoy more of a punchers chance than he did v. Garcia or would v. Gonzalez. they’re the same age; Lopez defeated Ponce once; and Ponce is coming off a similar loss himself v. the other dominant featherweight. it’s a potentially competitive matchup that i’d like to see.

Juanma is the perfect example of how quick boxing can come and go for a fighter. Hopefully, he’ll find something else to do, but we’ll probably see him in the ring again, which is too bad, and the sad part about boxing, unless your into seeing fighters with scrambled brains.

I’m Mexican, but I like Juanma because he fights like a Mexican. Tough as nails and fan friendly style ” You knock me out, or I’m gonna try to take your head off” Dude’s got balls to just get there and bang, but on that note, he just looked like an old shell of himself. He cannot compete at the elite level anymore, so he should think about retirement before Arum starts using him as a stepping stone to make more money out of him based on his name. Dude had a good run.

any prime or size advantages that Garcia enjoyed over Lopez, Lopez enjoyed over Penalosa and Marquez who was on record as having injured his shoulder going in to that bout. it’s Boxing. moreover, some were desperately holding-out that Lopez would regain his prime form. particularly after a one-year rests to recuperate. he didn’t, which is not surprising if you never bought in to his imminent “greatness” all-along. watch his previous bouts and wins and the same glaring flaws that a bigger Garcia exploited were always there. going all the way back to Gerry Penalosa. in retrospect, Lopez fans should also recognize that what happened v. Mtawgwa was no fluke. i was more surprised (impressed?) that Lopez would even agree to take this bout. his attempt at a comeback was an honest and good-faith effort. ultimately, he’s just the latest head-first plodder in the long tradition of PR fighters, e.g., Gomez, LaPorte, Rosario, TriniDud, Lopez, and Martinez is Next. the likes of Benitez is the rare exception. they’re the type of fighters that ring-technicians like Sanchez, DLH, and Garcia will always outdraw and shoot in a “rivalry” showdown, i.e., what “rivalry”?

Posted June 16, 2013 11:33 am

I said this once before, this kid García reminds me a bit of Arguello: methodical, solid and deadly. His biggest problem is going to be finding big fights at 130. It seems all the big names are either below or above that. Maybe he can make 126 again and get Donaire. Other than that it seems pretty desolate out there for him.

As for Mikey not making weight, Love-the-sport, that stinks. But Mikey was heavily favored to beat JuanMa regardless. It would have been the same outcome had Mikey weighed in at 126 instead of 128. I still think he’s an idiot though. He lost his belt without even fighting for it. Pretty sad.

“To prove the point further, Orlando Salido was coming on strong against Garcia toward the end of his previous fight — when the fight was supposedly stopped because of an accidental headbutt to the nose.”

Love-the-sport, by the time the fight was stopped Mikey had dominated Salido. He was so far ahead on points the only way Salido could win was by knockout. The headbutt DID happen and it DID break Mikey’s nose–all the world could see how twisted it was when the ring doctor was inspecting it. There was nothing “supposed” about it. It was smashed. I thought Robert Garcia was smart is pushing for the stoppage of the fight so it went to the scorecards. There was no need for Mikey to risk serious injury. He had the fight won hands down. You can bet Mikey would have preferred to finish in the regular way, but he’s a young kid with a great future ahead of him. Why start messing it up now?

Lopez looked bad…off balance, high chin, slow on his punches and no defense whatsoever. I think he should think about retirement. Not so much because of the lost, but because he didn’t appear to have anything left. Garcia, on the other hand, appeared relax and show great skills. He’s got talent and should do well at 130, though I was a little confused about his reasoning for not making weight.

First he mentioned that he could make 126 with better training. Then he mentioned he was sick and perhaps it was the reason for not making the weight. But then he mentioned that with better diet he could make 126. It almost sounded as if he was trying to make an excuse for his overweight issue, but wasn’t sure about which one would sound more diplomatic. He looked very uncomfortable providing those answers, as if he was hiding something.

I agree with all you said Tomato can. Weight is what it is. I always personally have looked at weight differences and give certain fighters more credit when they are not abusing the system. I also assess when i think a fighter is below or above his best weight class. Gamboa for instance did himself a disservice by becoming a muscle bound short five foot five lightweight. Garcia can try and stay at 126 but if he fails twice in a row than that is a knock on him. He had Juanma’s number tonight at any weight though.

these little fighters as a whole have proven, it takes a lot to get down to their contracted weights. I belive tha Garcia wasn’t able to make weight due to his illness. They had to keep fluids in him if he was ill. I also belive that the weight had no baring on the fight. Juanma has a good run, but got ruiend before this fight even took place.

Dumb move by Gamboa to go up to 135. He should have been the one cashing out against a shot Juanma.

Posted June 16, 2013 2:23 am

everyone wants a size advantage. Garcia weighed 142, 16lbs weight cut. Even if he made the weight it is still a big size advantage. It’s legal and fighters will do it. I think what would help is if the A-side fighters instead of catch weights would have rehydration cap weights right up to the ring walk. Like say Canelo get’s to weigh in at 154 instead of 152.. But he can only come in at 160, and has to get his last two pounds as in the form of a water bottle during the ring walk. I think it would take alot of wind out of the sales of the catchweight fanboys here that love to talk about being weight drained and the fight having no significance and such…

the hype surrounding Lopez was never airtight. he displayed glaring flaws in his footwork and defense as far back as the Penalosa bout. back then i can remember thinking “he’s lucky this guy is older and smaller because a guy his size would’ve Dropped him already”, which is precisely what happened v. Salido and what almost happened v. Mtawgwa before. Lopez is a dangerous puncher v. a stationary target. otherwise, he’s target practice for any elite or simply very good and tough fighter.

What gave me a little false hope leading up to this fight is Juanma looks good. His body is in shape, he has not been ballooning up in weight. That sure did not translate into being in fighting shape though.

Garcia did demonstrate maturity by not compromising his long-term health but he needs to do the right thing and make the contractual weight. his honest mistake can quickly start being abused by some unethical mfrs. although, you’d think that $150k would be enough to straighten out even the most unethical if not the richest mfrs out there.

Juanma is young and shot. He it shot to pieces. I can understand when your chin goes, but was he always this uncoordinated? Terrible performance. No skills shown. No defense. Crap. Garcia on the other hand did what he had to do but i am not gonna go overboar with praise because he needs a better dance partner to really show his best as a fighter. Juanma did not deserve that payday. I was curious to see what he had left and when he got KO’d i chuckled a little and asked him through the tv “Does this referee have a gambling problem to? “

“I’m not impressed with garcia’s win given he fought over the contracted weight limit. Of course, fighters do this to have an advantage. floyd and broner are both offenders.” It would have been the same outcome even if Mikey did make weight. Mikey didn’t do it to have an advantage. I don’t believe he voluntarily sacrificed his title just to have some edge and win this fight. He just screwed up. Salido hammered JuanMa twice then Mikey hammered Salido. What did you think JuanMa would have against Mikey that he didn’t have against Salido? I picked Mikey to win by TKO long before they weighed in. So did a lot of other people. Sorry, but Lopez was no match for Mikey, even at the contracted weight.

Posted June 16, 2013 1:59 am

TARK

Mikey Garcia is better than Danny Garcia.. He has Top-10 skills.. He’s better than Sergio Martinez and Nonito Donaire because he doesn’t get his body out ahead of his punches.. His hand always goes first and he never loads up.. He’s pinpoint accurate and doesn’t go for any big shots that aren’t there.

Posted June 16, 2013 1:54 am

the outcome to this fight was predictable with or without the weight “controversy”. Garcia’s sharp and precise offense always figured to exploit Lopez’s porous defense and severely-dented chin. Lopez had a puncher’s chance and nothing more. this was always an ambitious somewhat inexplicable move for Lopez. Garcia is an emerging elite with tested and proven ability and none of the glaring flaws that Salido exposed v. Lopez. there was simply no logical reason for anybody to predict this fight would end in any other way. at this point, i would like to see a rematch between Ponce and Lopez. the outcome of that bout would prove without a doubt which fighter should hang’em up for good.

Posted June 16, 2013 1:53 am

Garcia definitely should of made weight especially after saying he could do it in the post fight interview. That being said being over weight had nothing to do with the boxing lesson he gave JuanMa. JuanMa could of been the same weight or 10 pounds heavier. Same result would of happened.

Avg., not surprisingly, your intelligence matches your name…..Average. You need to reread my post before making posts without supporting facts. You say, ” ……after mikey destroyed juanma.” Well of course he destroyed Juanma, Mr. Einstein, that’s what usually happens when fighters come in over the weight limit, which was what my post was based on, or is your reading comprehension suffering a bit? Perhaps you have not been watching boxing long enough to have witnessed Gatti/ Gamache or Corrales/Castillo 2?? Read, reread and try to understand before replying to posts you seem to know nothing about. Idiot!

it’s funny to once again watch Public Douchebag spinning his legs in mid-air before another long, sustained, and whistling plummet to the canyon floor (lol). although, considering he’s yet to hit bottom from Lopez’s last loss, this one may have simply given him an extra jolt of speed. shouldn’t be long now before “Poof!” . . . (lol).

first of all, why can’t you find hot ring-card babes like that in PR? i was insulted by the skanks they hauled out for the Salido bouts. second, JuanMono looked like an irate monkey with his pre-fight swaying motion (lol). highlight of the bout for him. third, JuanMono couldn’t find Mikey’s nose and was KTFO. easy, easy work for Garcia. finally, i really appreciate JuanMono’s KO form. the way he drops on his ass and flops backwards like that. it provides an authentic and dramatic flair to the bout and is the perfect complement to his opponent’s work. that’s it folks. nothing more to see around here.

I’m not impressed with garcia’s win given he fought over the contracted weight limit. Of course, fighters do this to have an advantage. floyd and broner are both offenders.
Quite incredible, yet typical among fatheads who now take a page from floyd’s book and weigh in over the weight limit when they have a heightened sense of fear, the fear of losing. Max Kellerman put in very succinctly when he said fighters are commonly weighing more than the contractual limits, which has more than any other reason, the appearance of impropriety. Further, when situations like this surface, these fights should really not take place because it benefits no one but the offender which in this case was Mikey “fathead” Garcia, regardless of any penalty he paid to soothe over the situation. Whether lopez would have lost had fathead weighed in at 126 is besides the point, because absolutely no one knows that for certain. Fathead Garcia is no professional and if he fights at 126 again without violating his contractual terms, than he certainly had a genuine fear of Lopez. As a professional he should know whether or not he can make weight way ahead of time. His reputation has lost it’s luster. Lopez on the other hand should not have accepted fathead’s 150K “bribe.”

Juanma went as expected. I thought it wouldn’t go more than 5 rounds. Garcia is a beast, and no one will beat him at 126-130. Gary Russel Jr, would be dismantled, beaten up and knocked out. Garcia is the real deal, Russel jr is a flash in the pan. He will exposed once he fights a top guy. He wants no part of Mikey Garcia.
