Malachi, Manny is an incredible singer, haven’t you heard his music. Last I heard, he was closing in on Michael Jackson’s record for most albums sold. Serious. He seriously needs to sing an entrance song to his next fight. The man can sing.

hookoffthejab, Manny Pacquiao has sold millions of popular hit songs all over the world. His next career is already set.

Let’s see him fight Vic Darchinyan. Darchinyan may no longer be considered elite, but you won’t beat him if you are not elite! If he gets past “Raging Bull” then he can move further down the road of his bright future.

He definitely needs to step it up. He looks to be the goods but the level of comp has been weak. I don’t wanna hear nobody wants to fight him garbage. He has Haymon backing him. Haymon can get anybody in the ring

Gary Russell

I’d like to see him in there vs. top competition too. OK, he can dominate & look spectacular vs. B & C fighters. Next?

Dude has skills to be champ someday!

The thing I like about this guy is he trains like a lunatic. No excuses come fight night.

You might be waiting, there have been countless hyped fighters.

Big Al

still waiting for this guy to make the leap from prospect to contender. can’t be a prospect forever.

I agree Hecdog. Not that all those boxers would beat him but that he hasn’t been tested yet.

Posted May 23, 2013 7:18 pm

This kid has still got to be tested. He hasn’t proven anything fighting nobodies. Garcia, Mares, Donaire, Rigondeaux will all school him at any weight. Too many questions about him remain. Like I said, he’s never been tested and has had his way so far. He doesn’t get a pass from me until he fights an actual top contender that is more than just a punching bag, which is what his competition has been thus far.

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

That being said…. if a tiny Featherweight like Russell does turn out to be “the future” premier American fighter in the post-Mayweather world, USA Boxing is in deep, deep trouble. Real talk.

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

The kid has real talent and potential, but would likely get outboxed by Mikey Garcia, Mares, Burgos and Gamboa. Russell’s major problem (other than fragile hands) is that he’s small for Featherweight and even smaller for Super Feather or Jr. LW. Being just 5’4″ with a short 61″ reach is going to be a considerable disadvantage when it comes to facing the top dogs. But it’s definitely time for him to step-up the competition and fight a contender that boxing fans have actually heard of.
