U sleep on Joan Guzman if u want to. Broner vs Guzman need to happen, Khan should fight A soft opponent like the winner of Burn vs Mitchell fight would be his best fight to take. A safe fight for queenkhan.

This is whats wrong with alot of fighters today, blaming anyone but himself. If you go back and watch the Garcia fight, you will find that Khan only made one fatal mistake, he got greedy in the exchanges and couldnt get back out of the pocket when the exchanges were finished. If he hadn’t gotten in soo damn close he could have used his speed and power from the outside, but he just couldnt resist the exchanges, thus giving away his reach and speed advantage. No trainer in the world can fix that. I actually think the only problem with Khan isn’t his chin, it’s his focus or ego. He boxes very well, but he doesn’t act according to his talent and experience when the crowd starts to erupt. Fix that and you’ll fix yourself Amir.

whiteman in denial ali was truly the greatest

kahn is a wek chin ko waiting to happen every time he steps in the ring no chin none

I thought the same thing. Garcia is about as basic and non-quick as any fighter out there. It wouldn’t take Pernell Whitaker to evade those looping shots.

a lot less arrogance and his record would be undefeated, he should have learned not to underestimate his opponents by now, instead he talks down to them, although he does throw great combos he stays in the pocket to admire his handywork, he is to proud to tie up, because he thinks people will talk about his chin, his chin cant take a punch he doesnt see, but can take a good shot that he does, he has been staggered or ko everytime he walks in and a opponent swings with him at the same time, because he doesnt see the return, so get out of the pocket and use you vision like floyd does, stop running, learn how to manage distance with footwork and jab, the running kills his stamina. and stop holding behind the head, learn to roll or spin a opponent that runs in with their head down.

sweet science

Khan seems arrogant but really hes just confident in his ability, he’s fast, has the height, has power when he sits down on his punch, and nobody in boxing throws the kind of combinations that he throws, not even pac man. I can see his point when he sais himself and pac man are the best offensive fighters in the world. Its time for a new trainer, Freddie is slowing down as a trainer and i dont think khan will learn anything else from him khan needs a trainer who will be his own trainer he is a talented gifted fighter that just needs to learn to fight smart. Throw combinations after breaking opponents down with the jab then, counter punch better. He is the most exciting fighter to watch right now hands down. Give the kid some credit but he is a little to over confident and arrogant for his own right. Emmanuel Stewart would turn khan into a legend if he trained him because he will teach him to fight smart, jab, counterpunch, mental toughness, how to box not rush in recklessly throwing combos.

that is kahns problem, how do you come off 2 defeats and STILL tell another fighter that he is not relevent? he spend most of his time in the buildup for the garcia fight telling him he wasnt elite enough to be in the ring with him and got koed after a promise to ko him, how good does he think he really is? kahn is one ko away from being as relevent as holyfield and jones jr are fighting today, but at least they accomplished greatness, kahns legacy is going to say “almost”

completely agree

Same old Khan. Just when you might be inclined to start feeling a tiny scrap of sympathy for him, off runs his mouth with some nonsense that appears specifically designed to get everyone annoyed. Maybe he could look for some decent PR while in NY to pull him back before he can wind himself up to say these sorts of things? And incidentally ESB, enough with the photos of Khan lying on his backside or stumbling around the ring with Garcia; for the sake of balance, please can we go back to all those photos you were using previously of him fouling Lamont Peterson?

@ fisttalk, who are you, Khan’s bank manager? lol

Khan’s chin isn’t weak, but many of his skills are.. Any boxer who gets hit can get KO’d, and Khan took some smashing shots from Maidana without going out.. As far as being staggered by a jab? Any punch can get to any fighter.. I’ve seen super tough guys get floored by jabs, including Joshua Clottey in his Miguel Cotto fight.. Clottey is a very tough guy but Cotto’s jab caught him perfectly on the chin with tremendous snap, and down he went.

It’s not the perfect left hook that did Khan in… It’s the way he responded to the punch when he got up.. He didn’t clinch in a timely way.. In the next round he clinched very poorly or not at all, and kept trading shots.. That’s stupid — but that’s all Khan knows.

TARK

What Khan says is true… He may not be the BEST offensive fighter in the WORLD, but he’s brilliant offensively, except for his infighting skills—which truly suck.. HIs defense sucks harder.. His lack of clinching skills suck hardest of all.. The bottom line is, Roach is not a good coach for teaching defense, infighting, or clinching. If Khan doesn’t get these 3 skill sets greatly developed and refined, he’s not going to be an ATG boxer like he always planned to be. Joel Diaz is a good trainer, but he has Bradley, a big rival of Khan’s.. Gabriel Sarmiento has Sergio Martinez.. He stresses defense and leg work as the keys to winning. I think he would welcome Khan. Floyd Mayweather Sr knows the most about defense. He knows all the skill sets that Khan needs to learn — but he can be a pain-in-the-ass to work with.

HE MAY JUST GET IN TROUBLE WHEN AND IF HE GETS CAUGHT IN “ANY ” FIGHT, BUT HE STILL HAS TO HAVE HIS WEAK POINTS ADDRESSED NON THE THE LESS ! HE SHOULD NOT LOOK UP TOP FOR A NEW TRAINER , INSTEAD HE SHOULD FIND A ( HUNGRY ) UP AND COMER TO SATISFY HIS ISSUES OF FLAWS. IF HE REACHES OUT TO SOME “SO CALLED” SUPER STAR
TRAINER , ….. HE’LL BE JUMPING OUT OF THE FRYING PAN, INTO THE FIRE !

He has no chin… a trainer can’t fix that.

Could be Khan’s looking at NY guys because it shaves 10 hours off a round trip flight vs California. When you’re a Brit flying back and forth repeatedly that makes a difference in the terror level.

Well I don’t like the new ESB format but do like that they are consistent. In continuing to post tongue in cheek pics of boxers getting laid out when providing us with updates.

“We’re both offensively the best fighters in the world”.

LMFAO!

Keep ‘em coming!

Probably one of the most deluded fighters to have ever laced a pair of gloves!

Don’t know who you’re talkin about mate but it isn’t Amir Khan!

See if there hadn’t been all the hype around Khan I’d probably like him. He is one of the most exciting fighters I’ve seen but the amount of hype he gets or at least got is ridiculous. If I was Khan I’d think long and hard about his future. He’s 25 he could retire with his health and a great deal to be proud of but if he wants to continue he needs to take a step down in opposition and work on his technical flaws otherwise he’s at risk of being permenantly damaged. Also the writer has never steped in a boxing ring, several fighters could avoid those shots which KO’d Khan.

I love it how these days they blame the trainer straight up. At the end of the day it’s you fighting and as far as pacman , roach has taught him defense because his defense has improved a lot over the last ten years.

I’d much rather see Khan fight…not at all. Let me take that back. I get off seeing his skittish arse running for his dear life! So Manny “could” be one of the best fighters in the world eh? What a retard.

There’s a lot of crap coming out from that Manchester Evening News article – I wouldn’t believe everything you read. I don’t know why Khan is looking for a new trainer himself – Freddie Roach was kind enough to offer to help him find a trainer as he knows the set up with Manny being the main man isn’t ideal for Amir. I have no idea who he will be talking to in New York but I’m sure it won’t be anyone who Freddie doesn’t know. My advice to Amir would be to treat Freddie with the respect he deserves, thank him for everything he’s done for you and then you can both part with a bit of dignity.

Khan is done!

It’s Me, Ernie…

LMAO!
Even Khan thinks he’s one of the most offensive fighters in the world,.

Posted September 4, 2012 4:23 pm

big head

i think guzman would be a tough fight for khan cause of guzman style and experince and chin i think khan can beat guzman if he use his jab and reach and stay on the outside but if guzman catch khan with one of those big right hands he throws khan in trouble

Posted September 4, 2012 4:22 pm

shaq

i think amir should jus move up to 147 the guys gona be at q40 for the rest of his career

Posted September 4, 2012 4:21 pm

Tony

He should fight Guzman if he thinks he can beat Mayweather. Guzman is water down version. Or is does he think that mini tyson will ko him too?

Posted September 4, 2012 4:06 pm

philly shell

Of course he wants no part of Guzman – they call him “Little Tyson” for a reason, and Khan’s chin wants no part of that.

Posted September 4, 2012 4:06 pm

This is a really important time for Amir, his career is at a crossroads, he needs to get this one right but for me he also needs to have a long look at himself and stop making excuses and also stop thinking he’s arrived at the elite level with PAC man and Mayweather because he hasn’t . If he concentrates on dealing with his light welter fights knuckles down and follows instructions the big elite fights will come, the abilitys there !

Posted September 4, 2012 3:54 pm

Khan is correct. If he had defense he would be a top 5 p4per. But that chin kinda means you need SUPER d. Call the Mayweathers.
