Peej, see again you’re using all post-fight analysis. 1. Williams was a force when he fought Martinez. There was plenty of talk that neither Pac nor Floyd would fight him. “Most avoided” was the term boxing fans were using to describe Williams. Plus, Williams at the time was a kingpin, a guy Martinez should have been fighting. 2. As for Pavilik, again, he was still the champ at 160 — to beat the champ is what Martinez’s job, as a contender, was. Surely he wasn’t to pass up a fight with Pavlik because Kelly was having problems with the bottle? 3. Dinziruk might have moved up to 154, but it’s not like Martinez is big at 160. In fact, he’s really, still, a 154 pound guy. And two years later, and after his first pro, he can be a different fighter with a different mindset. 4. As for Macklin, yep, Martinez knocked him out — like a CHAMP does when he has to. 5. Now to Jr, again, more post-fight analysis — is it Martinez’s fault Jr. maybe didn’t prep well enough? Answer: nope! And most thought Jr. would knock Martinez out. While Jr nearly did in the 12th, Martinez, despite a HUGE size disadvantage, whipped his ass the rest of the fight. And then like a CHAMP got up in the 12th, still fought back and got the much deserved W. So in my book, and in nearly all the boxing scribes’ books, Martinez, late in his 30s, has more than proven the heart, skills, determination to be a PfP champion. To say otherwise isn’t being fair to Martinez.

First off Paul Williams was overrated, I gave him credit for the Pavlik fight but the facts are he was never the same after Hopkins and he was in and out of rehab facilities when he fought Martinez but he gets credit because he was holding the Middleweight Championship. Dinziruk was never a middleweight, he fought at 154 and only came up to fight Martiniz at 160 so yeah I say he shouldn’t of been in the ring with him, did you not see him a few weeks ago just get beat by Brian Vera? Barker, come on now, he didn’t have the experience to be in there with a world Champ, he never even had fought for a title. He wasn’t even ranked in the top 10. I give him credit for Macklin, he was losing the fight till Macklin ran out of gas but thats boxing and he knocked him out. Please Chavez, yes I thought he had improved but I was wrong, he never really trained, came up dirty and still he almost KO’d Martinez in that fight. But know he went after the weakest titlest of the division. Stop, it is so easy to discredit Martinez because he does not fight the best in his weight class. Yes there is Quillen, Pirog, Geale, Lee at the time, and now there is GGG. But yet all he does is complain that the 147 pound fighters will not move up to fight him. Sorry but Martinez is overrated also

Oh, and who the heck is left at 160 for Martinez to fight? Geale, okay. And Quillin? Please don’t say GGG. While I love GGG, we all know the dude just started getting coverage here in the US. If Martinez would have fought him a year ago: 1) the fight wouldn’t have made any money because no one would have known who GGG was. 2) If Martinez would have beaten GGG, everyone would have discredited his win because GGG was a “hype job”, and “unproven fighter”, a “nobody”, etc. Now if Martinez wins this fight, and GGG wins his next fight, and after which Martinez doesn’t look to GGG, THEN you’ll have an argument.

Paul Williams was an “avoided fighter” when Martinez knocked him out, Pavlik was still the middle weight champ after his lose to B-Hop (and there’s no disgrace losing to B-Hop), Chavez Jr is formidable for any fighter at 160 pounds, Dinzirzuk was a 37-0 undefeated fighter, Barker 23-0, plus Macklin. To dominate in all these fights, I’d say is one HELL of run. So get off Martinez… and stop discrediting his accomplishments post fight.

MIGZ I will put you to shame with the boxing knowledge I have

What champs has he been beating? Chavez was the weakest titlest out of them all and he was given his belt. Martinez only beat a Pavlik that was spanked by Hopkins and then never looked good in the ring again. Not too mention he was coming out of rehab. Name another champ or titlest that Martinez beat? He sure hasn’t beat any of the titlest in his weight class that have been calling him out.

Clown face

Segio is one of the best fighters I have ever seen. This guy has speed, power , footwork, endurance , a great set of whiskers, and balls the size of watermelons. Bad ass fighter!

Who has Martinez fought? His resume is weak. He only calls out smaller fighters. And Mayweather is no natural 147 pounder. He is actually a 140 pounder. The man walks around at 150.

Sorry but Martinez does not fight the top notch competition in his weight class. Macklin is the only top notch fighter he has fought. I would say Macklin is a B+ fighter. There are top fighters that he has avoided and is still avoiding.

Let’s get real! Martinez has been fighting top-notch, world-class fighters, and knocking them out. And he just beat a guy, in Jr, who was damn near a cruiserweight (remember, Martinez isn’t the biggest 160 pounder — really just a blown-up 154 pounder). So I’d say he has some balls, and he sure as h*ll isn’t a fraud. That said, GGG is new to the scene, and has only recently has begun to establish himself here in the US. Would we love to see these two in the ring? Heck yeah! But let’s not talk crap about Martinez just because he hasn’t faced GGG, yet.

Martinez doesn’t put asses in seats neither.

Boxing is a buisness and GGG don’t put enough asses in seats but he will soon and they’ll fight. And then will see if the one trick pony GGG can fight in a gear other then robot mode. And when Martinez beats him people will say ” GGGGG WASN’T READY!
